Objective:To investigate the association between age and semen parameters among male partners of subfertile couples.Methods:This retrospective study analyzed the semen of 1523 infertile men aged 26 to 50 years.Data were extracted from GarbhaGudi IVF Centre database from January 2019 to September 2020.The basic semen parameters were interpreted according to the WHO manual 2021,6th edition.Semen parameters in different age groups were compared.Results:Total and progressive motile sperms were significantly higher in the age group of 26-30 years compared to other age groups(P46 years(P=0.001).However,sperm head defects,neck and midpiece defects,tail defects,and cytoplasmic droplets showed statistically insignificant difference in all the age groups(P>0.05).Semen viscosity showed no statistical difference in all the age groups compared to the reference age group of 26 to 30 years.Conclusions:Higher age can lead to a significant decrease in normal sperms and motility in subfertile men.Hence,male partner age should be considered as one of the major determining factors for reproductive outcomes.

The present research work highlights the biosurfactant application toward enhanced pyrene degradation by Pseudomonas sp.Lipopeptide-type biosurfactant was produced from Free Air CO_(2) Enriched(FACE)soil bacterium Bacillus sp.SS105.The different concentrations of biosurfactant at different time intervals were optimized for maximum pyrene degradation and quantified through analytical methods such as the scanning process of UV-Vis spectrophotometer and GC-MS analysis.In the absence of biosurfactant,Pseudomonas sp.could degrade only 8%of pyrene at the concentration of 5 mg per 100 ml,while the degradation rate enhanced by 95%in presence of biosurfactant(5 mg/100 ml of culture).This result demonstrated that biosurfactant produced from Bacillus sp.SS105 has potential to enhance the bioavailability and biodegradation of pyrene by Pseudomonas sp.

In this paper,a novel hybrid texture feature set and fractional derivative filter-based breast cancer detection model is introduced.This paper also introduces the application of a histogram of linear bipolar pattern features(HLBP)for breast thermogram classification.Initially,breast tissues are separated by masking operation and filtered by Gr¨umwald–Letnikov fractional derivative-based Sobel mask to enhance the texture and rectify the noise.A novel hybrid feature set usingHLBP and other statistical feature sets is derived and reduced by principal component analysis.Radial basis function kernel-based support vector machine is employed for detecting the abnormality in the thermogram.The performance parameters are calculated using five-fold cross-validation scheme using MATLAB 2015a simulation software.The proposedmodel achieves the classification accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,and area under the curve of 94.44%,95.55%,92.22%,96.11%,respectively.A comparative investigation of different texture features with respect to fractional orderαto classify the breast malignancy is also presented.The proposed model is also compared with a few existing state-of-art schemes which verifies the efficacy of the model.Fractional orderαoffers extra adaptability in overcoming the limitations of thermal imaging techniques and assists radiologists in prior breast cancer detection.The proposed model is more generalized which can be used with different thermal image acquisition protocols and IoT based applications.

Evaluating factors associated with the risk of hydrothorax following standard supracostal percutaneous nephrolithotomy

Objective:To report our experience with supracostal percutaneous nephrolithotomy(SC-PNL)and evaluate factors which could predict the risk of hydrothorax following SC-PNL.Methods:We reviewed 347 patients who underwent SC-PNL from January 2011 to December 2019.Patients were assessed for demographic characteristics,indication for the supracostal access,level of supracostal access,anatomy of the kidney(normal or malrotated),site of the puncture in relation to the mid-scapular line(medial or lateral),and whether another subcostal tract for stone clearance was required or not.Patients were assessed for the incidence of hydrothorax and requirement of intercostal drain depending on the level of percutaneous access.In addition,a multivariable logistic regression analysis model was developed to identify factors which could predict the occurrence of hydrothorax following SC-PNL.Results:Of the 347 patients with SC-PNL,248(71.5%)underwent a supra-12th rib approach,while the rest needed a supra-11th(n=85;24.5%)or a supra-10th(n=14;4.0%)rib tract.Overall,17(4.9%)patients developed a hydrothorax,while an intercostal-drain was required in seven of these 17 patients for 48 h.None of the patients with a supra-12th rib puncture required an intercostal-drain.More than a third of the patients with a supra-10th puncture developed a hydrothorax(35.7%)and all of them required an intercostal drain.Factors such as anteriorly malrotated kidney(odds ratio[OR]=2.722;95%confidence interval[CI]=1.042-5.617,p=0.03),puncture medial to the mid-scapular line(OR=1.669;CI=0.542-1.578,p=0.03),and an access higher than the supra-12th level(OR=5.265;CI=1.292-9.342,p<0.001)proved to be independent predictors of hydrothorax following a SC-PCNL on multivariable analysis.Conclusion:Incidence of clinically significant hydrothorax requiring an intercostal-drain after SC-PNL is very low.Knowledge of the predicting factors will help to anticipate the risk of hydrothorax in a particular patient and take necessary peri-operative measures.

Phosphorus(P) deficiency limits the growth,development,and productivity of rice.To better understand the underlying mechanisms in P-deficiency tolerance and the role of Pup1 QTL in enhancing P use efficiency(PUE) for the development of P-efficient rice cultivars,a pair of contrasting rice genotypes(Pusa-44 and NIL-23) was applied to investigate the morpho-physio-biochemical and proteomic variation under P-starvation stress.The rice genotypes were grown hydroponically in a PusaRich medium with adequate P(16 mg/kg,+P) or without P(0 mg/kg,-P) for 30 d.P-starvation manifested a significant reductions in root and shoot biomass,shoot length,leaf area,total chlorophyll,and P,nitrogen and starch contents,as well as protein kinase activity.The stress increased root-to-shoot biomass ratio,root length,sucrose content,and acid phosphatase activity,particularly in the P-tolerant genotype(NIL-23).Comparative proteome analysis revealed several P metabolism-associated proteins(including OsCDPKs,OsMAPKs,OsCPKs,OsLecRK2,and OsSAPks) to be expressed in the shoot of NIL-23,indicating that multiple protein kinases were involved in P-starvation/deficiency tolerance.Moreover,the up-regulated expression of OsrbcL,OsABCG32,OsSUS5,OsPoll-like B,and ClpC2 proteins in the shoot,and OsACA9,OsACA8,OsSPS2F,OsPP2C15,and OsBiP3 in the root of NIL-23,indicated their role in P-starvation stress control through the Pup1 QTL. Thus,our findings indicated that-P stress-responsive proteins,in conjunction with morpho-physio-biochemical modulations,improved PUE and made NIL-23 a P-deficiency tolerant genotype due to the introgression of the Pup1 QTL in the Pusa-44 background.

Today social media became a communication line among people to share their happiness,sadness,and anger with their end-users.It is necessary to know people’s emotions are very important to identify depressed people from their messages.Early depression detection helps to save people’s lives and other dangerous mental diseases.There are many intelligent algorithms for predicting depression with high accuracy,but they lack the deﬁnition of such cases.Several machine learning methods help to identify depressed people.But the accuracy of existing methods was not satisfactory.To overcome this issue,the deep learning method is used in the proposed method for depression detection.In this paper,a novel Deep Learning Multi-Aspect Depression Detection with Hierarchical Atten-tion Network(MDHAN)is used for classifying the depression data.Initially,the Twitter data was preprocessed by tokenization,punctuation mark removal,stop word removal,stemming,and lemmatization.The Adaptive Particle and grey Wolf optimization methods are used for feature selection.The MDHAN classiﬁes the Twitter data and predicts the depressed and non-depressed users.Finally,the proposed method is compared with existing methods such as Convolutional Neur-al Network(CNN),Support Vector Machine(SVM),Minimum Description Length(MDL),and MDHAN.The suggested MDH-PWO architecture gains 99.86%accuracy,more signiﬁcant than frequency-based deep learning models,with a lower false-positive rate.The experimental result shows that the proposed method achieves better accuracy,precision,recall,and F1-measure.It also mini-mizes the execution time.

Background Systemic postnatal corticosteroid use in extremely preterm infants poses a risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes.This study explores their use beyond seven days of age with early neurodevelopmental assessments during the fidgety period(9-20 weeks postterm age).Methods This retrospective single-center cohort study included inborn extremely preterm infants from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2018.Outborn infants,those with congenital or genetic abnormalities,and those who received postnatal cor-ticosteroids for nonrespiratory reasons were excluded.The cohort was dichotomized based on the status of corticosteroid receipt.Early neurodevelopmental outcomes were reported using Prechtl's General Movements Assessment.Results Of the 282 infants,67(23.75%)received corticosteroids.Of these,34(50.75%)received them for dependency on invasive ventilation(intermittent positive-pressure ventilation),and the remainder received them for dependency on non-invasive ventilation continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)or bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP).Abnormal or absent fidgety movements were observed in 13% of infants(7/54)who received corticosteroids compared to 2% of infants(3/146)who did not.An increased odds for an abnormal general movements assessment from corticosteroid use after adjusting for gestational age[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=5.5,95% confidence interval(CI)=1.14-26.56]was observed.The motor optimality scores differed between the two groups[corticosteroid group:25.5(23-26)versus no-corticosteroid group:26(24-28);z=-2.02].A motor optimality score<20 was observed in 14.8% of infants(8/54)in the corticosteroid group compared to 2% of infants(3/146)in the noncorticosteroid group.This difference was significant after adjustment for gestational age(aOR 5.96,95%CI 1.28-27.74).Conclusions Abnormal early neurodevelopment was observed in infants who received systemic postnatal corticosteroids.The relationship between these findings and other factors influencing early neurodevelopment needs further explor

Background In contrast to protein-rich insect meal,the feed potential of insect fat is generally less explored and knowledge about the suitability of insect fat as a fat source specifically in broiler diets is still limited.In view of this,the present study aimed to comprehensively investigate the effect of partial(50%) and complete replacement of soybean oil with insect fat from Hermetia illucens(HI) larvae in broiler diets on performance,fat digestibility,cecal microbiome,liver transcriptome and liver and plasma lipidomes.Thus,100 male,1-day-old Cobb 500 broilers were randomly assigned to three groups and fed three different diets with either 0(group HI-0,n cens(HI) larvae fat for 35 d.= 30),2.5%(group HI-2.5,n %(HI-5.0,n = 35) or 5.0= 35) Hermetia illuResults Body weight gain,final body weight,feed intake,and feed:gain ratio during the whole period and apparent ileal digestibility coefficient for ether extract were not different between groups.Cecal microbial diversity did not differ between groups and taxonomic analysis revealed differences in the abundance of only four low-abundance bacterial taxa among groups;the abundances of phylum Actinobacteriota,class Coriobacteriia,order Coriobacteriales and family Eggerthellaceae were lower in group HI-5.0 compared to group HI-2.5(P < 0.05).Concentrations of total and individual short-chain fatty acids in the cecal digesta were not different between the three groups.Liver transcriptomics revealed a total of 55 and 25 transcripts to be differentially expressed between groups HI-5.0 vs.HI-0 and groups HI-2.5 vs.HI-0,respectively(P < 0.05).The concentrations of most lipid classes,with the exception of phosphatidylethanolamine,phosphatidylglycerol and lysophosphatidylcholine in the liver and cholesterylester and ceramide in plasma(P < 0.05),and of the sum of all lipid classes were not different between groups.Conclusions Partial and complete replacement of soybean oil with HI larvae fat in broiler diets had no effect on growth performance and only modest,but no adverse e

Cosmetic evaluation of surgical scars after external dacryocystorhinostomy

AIM： To evaluate the surgical scars of external dacryocystorhinostomy （DCR） cosmetically. METHODS： Totally 50 consecutive cases of primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction （PANDO） were included in the study. Surgical scars were assessed by the patients and two independent observers at 2, 6 and 12wk postoperatively on the basis of visibility of the scars and still photographs respectively and were graded from 0-3. Kappa test was utilised to check the agreement of scar grading between the two observers. Wilcoxan signed ranks test was used to analyse the improvement of scar grading.RESULTS： Thirty-four （68%） patients graded their incision site as very visible （grade 3） at 2wk. At 6 and 12wk, incision site was observed as grade 3 by 7 （14%） and 1 （2%） patients respectively. Photographic evaluation of patients by 2 observers showed an average score of 2.75, 1.94 and 0.94 at 2, 6 and 12wk respectively. Change in scar grading from grade 3 to grade 0 in consecutive follow-up （2, 6 and 12wk） was found to be highly significant both for the patient as well for the observers （P〈0.0001）.CONCLUSION： The external DCR is a highly effective and safe procedure and in view of low percentage of cases who complained of marked scarring in the present study, thus scarring should not be the main ground for deciding the approach to DCR surgery, even in young cosmetically conscious patients.
