AIM:To investigate the chemopreventive iffects of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in diethylnitrosamine induced,phenobarbital promoted rat ***:The rats were randomly divided into 6 different groups(A-F).Group A,C and E rats received a single intraperitoneal (i.p) injection of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) at a dose of 200 mg/kg body mass in 9 g/L NaCl solution at 4 wk of age ,while group B served as normal vehicle control received normal saline *** a brief recovery of 2 WK, all the DEN treated rats were given phenobarbital (PB) at 0.5g/L daily in the basal diet till WK *** C was started 4 wk prior to DEN injection and continued thereafter till wk 20 at a dose (os) twice a *** E received the treatment of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 at the same dose mentioned as above for 15 *** rats in group D and F received 1α,25-(OH)2D3 alone as in group C without DEN ***:The comet assay showed statistically higher mean values for length to width ratios (L:W) of DNA mass and tailed cells (p<0.01;p<0.01 respectively) in DEN treated rats as compared to their normal *** supplementation of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitaminD3 showed a significant (p<0.01) decrease in L:W ratio of DNA mass tailed ***,1α,25-(OH)2D3 supplementations elevated the super oxide dismutase (SOD) activety,hepatic malondialdehyde(MDA) levle,reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) activety (p<0.01,p<0.01,p<0.05 and p<0.05 respectively).As an endpoint marker histological changes were observed to establish the chemopreventive effects of 1α,***:Supplementations of 1α,25-(OH)2D3 has a marked protection against hepatic nodelogenesis,antioxidant enzymes and DNA damages in DEN induced rat hepatocarcinogenesis promoted by phenobarbital.

We report the design, fabrication, and characterization of a universal silicon PN junction ring resonator for C band error-free communication links operated up to 50 Gb/s with co-designed optical modulation and detection performance. The universal p-n junction ring device shows co-designed detection responsivity up to 0.84 A/W, in conjunction with a modulation efficiency of -4 V·mm and>8 d B optical modulation extinction ratio, enabling C band 50 Gb/s NRZ communication link with a bit error rate≤3×10^(-12).

Paired Measurements of Foraminiferal δ~ （18） O and Mg/Ca Ratios of Indian Monsoons Reconstructed from Holocene to Last Glacial Record

The effect of seasonally reversing monsoons in the northern Indian Ocean is to impart significant changes in surface salinity（SS）.Here,we report SS changes during the last 32 kyr in the Lakshadweep Sea（southeastern Arabian Sea）estimated from paired measurements of δ18O and sea surface temperature（SST）using Globigerinoides sacculifer,an upper mixed layer dwelling *** heaviest δ***（-0.07±0.08‰）is recorded between 23 and 15 ka,which could be defined as the last glacial maximum（LGM）.The δ*** between the LGM and Holocene is 2.07‰.The SST shows an overall warming of 2℃from the LGM to Holocene（28℃to 30℃）. However,coldest SSTs are observed prior to LGM,i.e.,～27 *** SS was higher（～38 psu） throughout most of the recorded last glacial period（32.5-15 ka）.This high salinity together with generally lower SSTs suggests a period of sustained weaker summer or stronger winter *** deglacial warming is associated with rapid reorganization of monsoons and is reflected in decreased salinity to a modern level of～36.5 psu,within a period of～5 *** indicates intensification of summer monsoons during cold to warm climate transition.

Aminopropyl-containing ionic liquid based organosilica as a novel and efficient adsorbent for removal of crystal violet from wastewaters

Herein a novel aminopropyl-containing ionic liquid based organosilica(ILOS-NH_2) is prepared, characterized and applied as effective adsorbent for removal of crystal violet(CV) dye from wastewater. The ILOS-NH2 material was synthesized by hydrolysis and co-condensation of 1,3-bis-(3-trimethoxysilylpropyl)-imidazolium chloride(BTMSPIC) under acidic conditions followed by treatment with 3-aminopropyl-trimethoxysilane in toluene under reflux conditions. This material was characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS), thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDAX). The material was effectively used in the removal of crystal violet at ambient temperature and showed high capacity and stability under applied conditions. The efficacy of p H, contact time, adsorbent dose, initial dye concentration, temperature, and isotherm studies and the applicability of pseudo-first, second order and Elovich kinetic models have also been investigated.

Assessment of accuracy of modal parameters of a rotor dynamic system using different types of finite elements

The main objective of this work is to check the compatibility of Finite element method(FEM)to determine the modal parameters of the rotor system and to compare the results with analytical *** work is an attempt to implement different finite element(FE)models for the estimation of modal *** different order elements from Beam,Axisymmetric and Solid FE models are *** analysis is carried out on the rotor system and the accuracy of the results and the computation time of the FE models are *** FE results are compared with the analytical *** is observed that FE model can be used to simulate even at higher order frequencies,which is a limitation of analytical *** analysis shows that the FE results closely match with analytical method and also the study summarizes that proper choosing of FE helps in developing rotor models in both a desirable accuracy and ***,a Campbell diagram is generated using the analytical method and *** critical speeds are also calculated from the Campbell *** closeness of the results between the two methods is checked.

Isolation and partial purification of fungal ligninolytic enzymes from the forest soil fungi isolated from Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary

Screening was done for the isolation of effective lignin degraders from the forest soil samples, by providing lignin as a carbon source through the enrichment method, which leads to the isolation of 8 effective fungal isolates among 14 isolates. Submerged fermentation was done for the production of ligninolytic enzymes with the effective microorganisms by providing Guiaicol as a carbon source. The assay of laccase, lignin peroxidise activity and specific activity was done after the incubation intervals of 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 days at 27±2℃ under shake culture condition. Partially purified protein content was estimated by using Lowry＇s method. Pleurotus sp. and Phanerochaetae chrysosporium are more effective at the 2nd and 7th days of incubation for the production of laccase and lignin peroxidases among the effective isolates.

Biofertilizing efficiency of Sargassum polycystum extract on growth and biochemical composition of Vigna radiata and Vigna mungo

Objective: To evaluate the effect of marine brown alga Sargassum polycystum extract on growth and biochemical parameters of Vigna radiata and Vigna mungo. Methods: Different concentrations of algal extracts (0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0%, 3.0%, 4.0%, and 5.0%) were prepared and applied to the crops at every 10-day intervals under natural conditions. After 30 d, the plants were harvested to evaluate the growth and biochemical parameters. Results: Seaweed liquid fertilizers treated seedlings showed maximum growth in 3.0% concentration when compared to the untreated seedlings. Similarly, biochemical parameters such as photosynthetic pigments, protein, reducing sugar, total sugar and amino acids exhibited increases in 3.0%concentration seaweed extract. Decreases in growth and biochemical parameters were noticed in concentrations higher than 3.0%. Conclusions: Presence of micronutrients and growth regulating substances in the liquid extract help healthier and faster productivity of the crop.

Machine Learning concepts have raised executions in all knowledge domains,including the Internet of Thing(IoT)and several business *** of Service(QoS)has become an important problem in IoT surrounding since there is a vast explosion of connecting sensors,information and ***-sor data gathering is an efﬁcient solution to collect information from spatially dis-seminated IoT *** Learning Mechanism to improve the QoS(RLMQ)and use a Mobile Sink(MS)to minimize the delay in the wireless IoT s proposed in this ***,we use machine learning concepts like Rein-forcement Learning(RL)to improve the QoS and energy efﬁciency in the Wire-less Sensor Network(WSN).The MS collects the data from the Cluster Head(CH),and the RL incentive values select *** incentives value is computed by the QoS parameters such as minimum energy utilization,minimum bandwidth utilization,minimum hop count,and minimum time *** MS is used to col-lect the data from CH,thus minimizing the network *** sleep and awake scheduling is used for minimizing the CH dead in the *** work is simu-lated,and the results show that the RLMQ scheme performs better than the base-line *** prove that RLMQ increased the residual energy,throughput and minimized the network delay in the WSN.

Diversity of soil fungi in dry deciduous forest of Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary,Western Ghats of southern India

Abstract： We assessed soil fungal diversity in the dry deciduous forest ofa Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary of the Western Ghats （210.31 m a.s.1.; N 13044＇ and E75°37′）. Soil samples were collected by random mixed sampling during winter （November, 2008）, summer （March, 2009） and monsoon （August, 2009） seasons, and physico-chemical parameters were recorded. During winter, summer, and monsoon seasons, 49, 45 and 49 of fungal species belongs to 20, 18 and 19 of genera were isolated, respectively. Isolated soil fungi were mainly of the Mitosporic fungi, followed by Zygomycotina, Ascomycotina, Oomycotina and Coelomycetes. Indices of diversity, dominance and fisher alpha during winter, summer and monsoon seasons were 3.756, 3.638 and 3.738 （H）, 0.9737, 0.9694 and 0.9726 （I-D） and 18.84, 29.83 and 19.46 （a）, respectively. Spear- man＇s （r） correlation coefficient of fungal population with physicochemical parameters of soils showed significantly positive and negative correlations （p〈0.01） during winter, summer and monsoon seasons. Physico-chemical soil parameters played an important role in the occurrence, diversity, distribution, and relative abundance of fungal species in the tropical dry deciduous forest soil.
