Necessary prerequisites for evidence-based practice:results of investigating nurses'informatics competency and information literacy skills

This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between nursing informatics(NI)competency and information literacy skills for evidencebased practice(EBP)among intensive care *** cross-sectional study was conducted on 184 nurses working in intensive care units(ICUs).The study data were collected through demographic information,Nursing Informatics Competency Assessment Tool(NICAT),and information literacy skills for EBP *** intensive care nurses received competent and low-moderate levels for the total scores of NI competency and information literacy skills,*** received a moderate score for the use of different information resources but a low score for information searching skills,different search features,and knowledge about search operators,and only 31.5%of the nurses selected the most appropriate *** competency and related subscales had a significant direct bidirectional correlation with information literacy skills for EBP and its subscales(P<0.05).Nurses require a high level of NI competency and information literacy for EBP to obtain up-to-date information and provide better care and *** planners and policymakers should develop interventions to enhance NI competency and information literacy skills among nurses and motivate them to use EBP in clinical settings.

Automatically Eye Detection with Different Gray Intensity Image Conditions

One of the methods for biometric identification is facial features detection, and eye is an important facial feature in the face. In the recent years, automatically detecting eye with different image conditions is attended. This paper proposes a method which can automatically detect eye in extensive range of images with different conditions. In the proposed method, first an image is enhanced by morphological operations then region of face is detected by hybrid projection function. To identify window of eye, vertical edge dominance map is used. The authors" method uses elliptical mask on eye image to detect center of pupil. The mask scans eye image to find minimum gray level because pupil is darkest part in eye image. This method has implemented on JAFFE face database and compared with 3 well-known methods. The accuracy of 99.53% on this database confirms efficiency of the proposed method.

There are many optimization problems in different branches of science that should be solved using an appropriate *** optimization algorithms are one of the most efficient approaches to solve this type of *** this paper,a new optimization algorithm called All Members-Based Optimizer(AMBO)is introduced to solve various optimization *** main idea in designing the proposedAMBOalgorithm is to use more information from the population members of the algorithm instead of just a few specific members(such as best member and worst member)to update the population ***,in AMBO,any member of the population can play a role in updating the population *** theory of AMBO is described and then mathematically modeled for implementation on optimization *** performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated on a set of twenty-three standard objective functions,which belong to three different categories:unimodal,high-dimensional multimodal,and fixed-dimensional multimodal *** order to analyze and compare the optimization results for the mentioned objective functions obtained by AMBO,eight other well-known algorithms have been also *** optimization results demonstrate the ability of AMBO to solve various optimization ***,comparison and analysis of the results show that AMBO is superior andmore competitive than the other mentioned algorithms in providing suitable solution.

Optimization plays an effective role in various disciplines of science and *** problems should either be optimized using the appropriate method(i.e.,minimization or maximization).Optimization algorithms are one of the efficient and effective methods in providing quasioptimal solutions for these type of *** this study,a new algorithm called the Mutated Leader Algorithm(MLA)is *** main idea in the proposed MLA is to update the members of the algorithm population in the search space based on the guidance of a mutated *** addition to information about the best member of the population,themutated leader also contains information about the worst member of the population,as well as other normal members of the *** proposed MLA is mathematically modeled for implementation on optimization problems.A standard set consisting of twenty-three objective functions of different types of unimodal,fixed-dimensional multimodal,and high-dimensional multimodal is used to evaluate the ability of the proposed algorithm in ***,the results obtained from theMLA are compared with eight well-known *** results of optimization of objective functions show that the proposed MLA has a high ability to solve various optimization ***,the analysis and comparison of the performance of the proposed MLA against the eight compared algorithms indicates the superiority of the proposed algorithm and ability to provide more suitable quasi-optimal solutions.

Finding the suitable solution to optimization problems is a fundamental challenge in various *** algorithms are one of the effective stochastic methods in solving optimization *** this paper,a new stochastic optimization algorithm called Search StepAdjustment Based Algorithm(SSABA)is presented to provide quasi-optimal solutions to various optimization *** the initial iterations of the algorithm,the step index is set to the highest value for a comprehensive search of the search ***,with increasing repetitions in order to focus the search of the algorithm in achieving the optimal solution closer to the global optimal,the step index is reduced to reach the minimum value at the end of the algorithm *** is mathematically modeled and its performance in optimization is evaluated on twenty-three different standard objective functions of unimodal and multimodal *** results of optimization of unimodal functions show that the proposed algorithm SSABA has high exploitation power and the results of optimization of multimodal functions show the appropriate exploration power of the proposed *** addition,the performance of the proposed SSABA is compared with the performance of eight well-known algorithms,including Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Genetic Algorithm(GA),Teaching-Learning Based Optimization(TLBO),Gravitational Search Algorithm(GSA),Grey Wolf Optimization(GWO),Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA),Marine Predators Algorithm(MPA),and Tunicate Swarm Algorithm(TSA).The simulation results show that the proposed SSABA is better and more competitive than the eight compared algorithms with better performance.

Pentafluorophenylammonium triflate（PFPAT） was found to be a highly efficient catalyst for the preparation of 2,4,6- triarylpyridines from the reaction of acetophenone derivatives,aromatic aldehydes and ammonium *** methodology offers several advantages,such as short reaction time,high yields,simple procedure with an easy work-up and the absence of any volatile and hazardous organic *** addition,this catalytic system can act as an active,inexpensive,metal-free,recoverable and recyclable catalyst.

An optimal energy management development for various configuration of plug-in and hybrid electric vehicle

Due to soaring fuel prices and environmental concerns, hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) technology attracts more attentions in last decade. Energy management system, configuration of HEV and traffic conditions are the main factors which affect HEV's fuel consumption, emission and performance. Therefore, optimal management of the energy components is a key element for the success of a HEV. An optimal energy management system is developed for HEV based on genetic algorithm. Then, different powertrain system component combinations effects are investigated in various driving cycles. HEV simulation results are compared for default rule-based, fuzzy and GA-fuzzy controllers by using ADVISOR. The results indicate the effectiveness of proposed optimal controller over real world driving cycles. Also, an optimal powertrain configuration to improve fuel consumption and emission efficiency is proposed for each driving condition. Finally, the effects of batteries in initial state of charge and hybridization factor are investigated on HEV performance to evaluate fuel consumption and emissions. Fuel consumption average reduction of about 14% is obtained for optimal configuration data in contrast to default configuration. Also results indicate that proposed controller has reduced emission of about 10% in various traffic conditions.

Synthesis of Nanocrystalline Barium Ferrite in Ethanol/Water Media

Nanocrystalline particles of barium ferrite magnetic material have been prepared by co-precipitation route using aqueous and non-aqueous solutions of iron and barium chlorides with a Fe/Ba molar ratio of 11 and subsequent drying-annealing treatment. Water and ethanol/water mixture with volume ratio of 3：1 were used as solvents in the process. Coprecipitated powders were annealed at various temperatures for 1 h. FTIR （Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy）, XRD （X-ray diffraction）, DTA/TGA （differential thermal analy- sis/thermogravimetric analysis） and SEM （scanning electron microscopy） techniques were used to evaluate powder particle characteristics. DTA/TGA results confirmed by those obtained from XRD indicated that the formation of barium ferrite occurs in sample synthesized in ethanol/water solution at a relatively low temper- ature of 631℃. Nano-size particles of barium ferrite with mean particle size of almost 75 and 100 nm were observed in the SEM micrographs of the samples synthesized in ethanol/water solution after annealing at 700 and 800℃ for 1 h, respectively.

An expeditious and one-pot synthesis of unsymmetrical 2,5-disubstituted-1,3,4-oxadiazoles under microwave irradiation and solvent-free conditions

A one-pot synthesis of some unsymmetrical 2,5-disubstituted-1,3,4-oxadiazoles via cyclocondensation of benzoylhydrazines with orthoesters under solvent-free and microwave conditions are described here. The reaction is efficiently catalyzed by silica- supported sulfuric acid as it provided the title compounds in high yields and relatively short times. The catalyst is reusable and can be applied several times without considerable decrease in the yields and rates of the reactions.

Sufficient conditions are given for the existence of unknown and partially known input normal and descriptor observers for a class of descriptor discrete time networked control *** is shown that a causal and regular descriptor system subjected to input and output periodic communication constraints,can be down sampled into a causal and regular p-lifted time invariant *** to the lifted formulation,interesting results on minimum and maximum feasible values for communication sequence periods are drawn for the existence of an unknown or partially known input *** case of partially known input observer,cover unknown input case as an extreme *** example is given for clarification.
