Zeolite-based technology can provide a cost effective solution for stormwater treatment for the removal of toxic heavy metals under increasing demand of safe water from alternative sources. This paper reviews the currently available knowledge relating to the effect of properties of zeolites such as pore size, surface area and Si:Al ratio and the physico-chemical conditions of the system such as pH, temperature, initial metal concentration and zeolite concentration on heavy metal removal performance. The primary aims are, to consolidate available knowledge and identify knowledge gaps. It was established that an in-depth understanding of operational issues such as, diffusion of metal ions into the zeolite pore structure, pore clogging, zeolite surface coverage by particulates in stormwater as well as the effect of pH on stormwater quality in the presence of zeolites is essential for developing a zeolite-based technology for the treatment of polluted stormwater. The optimum zeolite concentration to treat typical volumes of stormwater and initial heavy metal concentrations in stormwater should also be considered as operational issues in this regard. Additionally, leaching of aluminium and sodium ions from the zeolite structure to solution were identified as key issues requiring further research in the effort to develop cost effective solutions for the removal of heavy metals from stormwater.

The paper presents occurrence of rainfall using principles of fuzzy set theory and principles of reliability analysis. Both the abstract and the rest of the paper are discussed from these two points of view. First, a fuzzy inference model for predicting rainfall using scan data from the USDA Soil Climate Analysis Network Station at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (AAMU) campus for the year 2004 is presented. The model further reflects how an expert would perceive weather conditions and apply this knowledge before inferring a rainfall. Fuzzy variables were selected based on judging patterns in individual monthly graphs for 2003 and 2004 and the influence of different variables that caused rainfall. A decrease in temperature (TP) and an increase in wind speed (WS) when compared between the ith and (i ? 1)th day were found to have a positive relation with a rainfall (RF) occurrence in most cases. Therefore, TP and WS were used in the antecedent part of the production rules to predict rainfall (RF). Results of the model showed better performance when threshold values for 1) Relative Humidity (RH) of ith day;2) Humidity Increase (HI) between the ith and (i ? 1)th day;and 3) Product (P) of decrease in temperature (TP) and an increase in wind speed (WS) were introduced. The percentage of error was 12.35 when compared the calculated amount of rainfall with actual amount of rainfall. This is followed by prediction of rainfall using principles of reliability analysis. This is done by comparing theoretical probabilities with experimental probabilities for the occurrence of two main events, namely, Relative Humidity (RH) and Humidity Increase (HI) being in between specified threshold values. The experimental values of probability are falling in between μ ? σ and μ + σ for both RH and HI parameters, where μ is the mean value and σ is the standard deviation.

Little is known about the role of active school travel(AST)on mental health among ***,this study aimed to explore the AST-depression association among adolescents aged 12–15 years from 26 low-and middle-income countries(LMICs).Data from the Global School-based Student Health Survey were analyzed in 51,702 adolescents[mean(SD)age 13.8(1.0)years;49.3%boys).Both depressive symptoms and AST were assessed by a single question self-reported measure,*** who reported having 5 days or above were considered as *** logistic regression analysis(accounting for sampling weights)was performed while controlling for gender,age,physical activity,sedentary behavior,and food insecurity,and a countrywide meta-analysis was *** prevalence of depressive symptoms and AST were 30.1%and 37.0%,*** with those not having AST,adolescents with AST were less likely to have self-reported depressive symptoms(OR=0.88,95%CI:0.85-0.93)regardless of *** meta-analysis demonstrated that having AST versus not having AST was associated with 12%lower odds for depressive symptoms(OR=0.88;95%CI:0.82-0.94)but with a moderate between-country heterogeneity(I^(2)=59.0%).Based on large samples of adolescents from LMICs,it would be expected that AST may play a critical role in preventing adolescent depression ***,it is necessary to consider more country-specific factors when implementing AST-related mental health *** studies should adopt the solid study design to confirm or negate our researchfindings.

Visceral adiposity mediates insulin resistance, but their association among adults with prediabetes is scarce in the literature. This study is aimed to determine the association of visceral adiposity index (VAI) with insulin resistance in adults with prediabetes. This cross-sectional study was done among 117 adults with newly detected prediabetes [m/f;23/94;mean ± SD: Age 36.30 ± 9.99 years, BMI 28.89 ± 4.35 kg/m2] based on American Diabetes Association 2018 criteria and 141 matched healthy controls [m/f: 28/113;mean ± SD: 35.30 ± 6.88 years, BMI 25.03 ± 4.58]. Waist circumference, body mass index, fasting triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, fasting blood glucose and insulin were measured in each group to calculate VAI and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). Small-scale vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) rotor is developed for use in areas lacking adequate energy infrastructure. The materials and methods of construction are selected to minimize cost as much as possible. The paper describes the design of different kinds of vertical axis wind turbine rotors having different number of blades and twist angle. The aim of the work is to study the influence of the different designs on rotational speed and power of rotor in different wind speed.

本文针对约化速度134时,振幅几乎维持不变。力矩系数和位移的李萨如图与能量收集效率有关,其过程可以揭示U和ζ是如何影响振幅、约化频率、涡结构、以及翼与流体之间能量交换。对于不同的U和ζ,涡结构有不同的模式。高U工况下的能量收集效率η对于ζ更不敏感。当U=34、ζ=0.130时,能量收集效率达到最大值17.28%,此时的约化频率f=0.169常被巡航水生物所采用。当涡增强时,能量收集功率为负,当涡减弱时,能量收集功率为正。

Herein,the interaction of a protein,bovine serum albumin(BSA),with tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide(TTAB,a cationic surfactant),has been investigated using the conductivity measurement technique in pure water and some sodium salts(NaCl,Na_(2) SO_(4),Na_(2) CO_(3), and Na_(3) PO_(4)) solutions at temperature range of 295.15-320.15 *** reveal that,in the plot of specific conductivity versus the concentration of TTAB,only a single critical micelle concentration(cmc) was found for the TTAB+BSA mixed system in all solvents media *** addition of BSA in aqueous TTAB solution,the value of cmc undergoes a change from its pure form,which indicates the presence of strong interaction operating between the BSA and TTAB *** aqueous system,the cmc values of the TTAB+BSA mixtures are obtained higher compared to the values found for single TTAB surfactant However,the addition of salt decreases the cmc value of mixed TTAB+BSA *** values of cmc of the BSA+TTAB mixed system at 310.15 K and 1.00 mmol·kg^(-1) ionic strength of salt followed the order:cmc_(Na_(2) CO_(3))> Cmcc_(Na_(3) PO_(4))> cmcNaCl>cMC_(Na_(2) SO_(4)).The cmc values of TTAB+BSA mixture were found to be lowered in urea solution within the concentrations *** values of degree of dissociation(α) and fraction of counter ion binding(β) were found to be dependent on additives and *** free energy of micellization(AGm) is negative for all the systems,which manifests that the micellization phenomenon is energetically *** enhancement of the negative value of △G_(m)^(0) in aqueous salt solutions reveals an increase of spontaneity of the TTAB+BSA micellization *** values of △G_(m)^(0) also reveal that the spontaneity of micelle formation is enhanced at higher temperatures in all media *** values of free energy of transfer(△G_(m,t)^(o)) were also determined for numerous solvent media used in the present study and described with appropriate reasoning.

Background: By the dawn of this modern era of science, the prime challenge of physician is cardiovascular disease (CVD). The most important modifiable risk factors of CVDs are unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and tobacco use. The effects of unhealthy diet and physical inactivity include abnormal blood lipid, obesity and hypertension. We tried to evaluate and correlate the pattern of lipid profile in obese and non-obese hypertensive patients. Objectives: This study was conducted at medicine department of Cumilla Medical College Hospital. The principal aim was to evaluate the lipid profile in obese and non-obese adult hypertensive patients. Methodology: During this cross sectional analytical study, a total of 100 adult hypertensive patients were taken by purposive sampling. Among them 50 (group 1) patients were taken those were obese and 50 (group 2) patients taken those were non-obese according to BMI measurement on operational definition. Diagnosis of hypertension would be established with the help of ambulatory BP measurements two occasions few minutes apart. The staging of hypertension was done according to JNC7 Criteria. Morning blood samples were taken after 8 - 12 hours of fasting and lipid profiles were done on authentic laboratories. The laboratory values were interpreted according to the operational definition of dyslipidaemia. The ethical research and review committee approved the study protocol and signed informed consent was obtained from the participants. Enterobacteriaceae are important human pathogens that cause many food and waterborne illness. Rapid emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria in Bangladesh has become a serious problem. Phage-host interaction is now considered as the major driving force for the conversion of non-pathogenic bacteria to pathogenic ones. Evolution of highly pathogenic and antibiotic resistant bacteria largely depends upon the horizontal gene transfer by means of plasmid, megaplasmid and bacteriophages. Conversely, bacteria may acquire a novel defence mechanism called CRISPR (Clustered regularly interspersed short palindromic repeats) that can restrict horizontal transfer of plasmids and bacteriophages to limit the spread of antibiotic resistance genes among bacterial species. In this study, twenty bacterial strains were isolated from water of different medical waste and Buriganga river. Therefore, CRISPR locus was investigated following various biochemical and molecular analysis of those bacterial isolates. Identification of the bacterial isolates was conducted by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based assay of 16S rDNA extracted from those isolated strains. Results indicated that most strains were identified as Proteus mirabilis and Citrobacter freundii which mainly cause septicemia, and pneumonia in human. Thereafter, antibiogram of these strains was performed by using 11 different antibiotic discs where bacterial isolates from medical drainage system showed more resistant to antibiotics than the river water. In this study, CRISPR locus was also investigated within the genome of the isolated bacterial stains but unexpectedly, we did not find any CRISPR locus in their genome. In conclusion, we confirm that multi-drug resistant bacterial strains are devoid of CRISPR locus suggesting a possible negative association between CRISPR locus and antibiotic resistance.
