Effect of Tillage and Residue Retention on Soil Properties and Crop Yields in Wheat-Mungbean-Rice Crop Rotation under Subtropical Humid Climate

The effects of conservation agriculture (CA) practices on soil properties along with crop yields of rice-based triple cropping systems have not been adequately assessed in Bangladesh. An experiment was conducted at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur, Bangladesh from 2009 to 2012 to assess the effects of tillage practices and crop residue retention on soil physical properties, soil organic carbon (SOC) and crop yields in a wheat-mungbean-rice system. Treatments consisted of three tillage practices (MT: minimum tillage;CT: conventional tillage and DT: deep tillage) and eight levels of crop residue management (S0—no residues retention, Sr—retention of 30 cm rice straw, Sm—whole mungbean stover retention, SW—30 cm wheat straw retention, Smr—whole mungbean stover & 30 cm rice straw retention, Srw—30 cm rice & wheat straw retention, Smw—whole mungbean stover & 30 cm wheat straw retention and Swrm—30 cm wheat and rice straw along with whole mungbean stover retention) were applied in split plot design with three replications. Bulk density (BD) and porosity responded positively to MT and increased residue retention of all crops (p > 0.05). Minimum tillage and Swrm also significantly accumulated SOC (p < 0.05;0.38% higher than DT with no residue retention) and retained soil moisture (p < 0.05). Minimum tillage practice performed better in upland crops (p < 0.05;wheat & mungbean yields) and CT outperformed MT in wetland rice crop (p < 0.05). The grain and straw yields of wheat and rice were also influenced by previous crop residue retentions (p < 0.05). The results, therefore, suggested that increased residue retention with minimum tillage practices improved soil properties and yield of upland crops but with deeper tillage practices consistently maintained wetland rice production.

Organic Amendments with Chemical Fertilizers Improve Soil Fertility and Microbial Biomass in Rice-Rice-Rice Triple Crops Cropping Systems

Medium-term changes in the labile nutrient pool of microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and nitrogen (MBN) resulting from organic manure application in rice (Oryza sativa L.)-based triple cropping systems have been poorly studied. Therefore, the effects of organic materials on the soil physico-chemical properties and microbial biomass in rice fields were investigated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh, from April 2010 to December 2012. Five treatments (control, cow dung, poultry manure, rice straw, and chemical fertilizer) were laid out in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The organic residues (2 t C ha-1) were applied 7 days before transplanting and were combined with inorganic fertilizers, following integrated plant nutrition systems. This paper presents the results from the last of the five consecutive rice growing seasons. All of the organic residues increased the pH, and organic C, N, P, and K contents of the soil. However, poultry manure was more efficient in increasing soil fertility than cow dung and rice straw, resulting in a significant increase in P from 22 mg·kg-1 to 63 mg·kg-1 at crop harvest. All of the organic residues also increased the soil water holding capacity and decreased bulk density. Furthermore, poultry manure resulted in significantly higher microbial biomass C (432 mg·kg-1;P < 0.05) and N (31.60 mg·kg-1;P < 0.05) levels in the soil at crop harvest, followed by cow dung and rice straw. These findings indicate that the regular application of organic residues and manures will help to enhance soil fertility and production sustainability.

A New Mathematical Justification for the Hypothesis of the Longevity of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot

As is known, the Great Red Spot (GRS) is one of the most mysterious sights in the solar system and is a strong storm that is quite large. According to the laws of hydrodynamics and gas dynamics, it should have disappeared several centuries ago, but scientists still observe it and cannot accurately explain this phenomenon. Since turbulence and atmospheric waves in the GRS region absorb the energy of its winds, the vortex loses energy by radiating heat. In the work, it is proved with a mathematical and non-classical approach that the GRS and anticyclones will live for a long time;otherwise, we had to first of all prove that the vortex threads (loops) and ovals could not exist. Based on these supports, mathematical methods prove their existence forever by observing a large vortex (GRS);moreover, they are sources of heat. When proofs are obtained, the results are consistent with the previous hypotheses of the researcher. The introduction of the work gives a comparison of various hypotheses;for example, one of them states that the decrease in the size of the GRS is only an illusory observation. Next, we first consider the applicability conditions for the mathematical justification of the hypothesis of the longevity of the Great Red Spot. The wind equation and the GRS are energized by absorbing smaller eddies and ovals, and this total energy is constant. With the help of the KH mechanism in the case of Brunt Vaisala, the frequencies (which can be calculated by a program with given formulas) are determined using very strictly mathematical evidence to substantiate the validity of the hypothesis about the longevity of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot.

Applications of Non-Classical Equations and Their Approaches to the Solution of Some of Classes Equations Arise in the Kelvin-Helmholtz Mechanism and Instability

In the presented work, we consider applications of non-classical equations and their approaches to the solution of some classes of equations that arise in the Kelvin-Helmholtz Mechanism (KHM) and instability. In all areas where the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI) problem is investigated with the corresponding data unchanged, the solution can be taken directly in a specific form (for example, to determine the horizontal structure of a perturbation in a barotropic rotational flow, which is a boundary condition taken, as well as other types of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability problems). In another example, the shear flow along the magnetic field in the Z direction, which is the width of the contact layer between fast and slow flows, has a velocity gradient along the X axis with wind shear. The most difficult problems arise when the above unmentioned equation has singularities simultaneously at points and in this case, our results also remain valid. In the case of linear wave analysis of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI) at a tangential discontinuity (TD) of ideal magneto-hydro-dynamic (MHD) plasma, it can be attributed to the presented class, and in this case, as far as we know, solutions for eigen modes of instability KH in MHD plasma that satisfy suitable homogeneous boundary conditions. Based on the above mentioned area of application for degenerating ordinary differential equations in this work, the method of functional analysis in order to prove the generalized solution is used. The investigated equation covers a class of a number of difficult-to-solve problems, namely, generalized solutions are found for classes of problems that have analytical and mathematical descriptions. With the aid of lemmas and theorems, the existence and uniqueness of generalized solutions in the weight space are proved, and then general and particular exact solutions are found for the considered problems that are expressed analytically explicitly. A New Mathematical Justification for the Hydrodynamic Equilibrium of Jupiter

In this paper, the case of Jupiter being found in hydrodynamic equilibrium is for the first time investigated solely by mathematical methods. With the help of the hydrodynamic method, formulas of energy balance for oval and vortex are found, which are summed as permanent kinetic energy and constantly provide equilibrium for the stable rotational movements of Jupiter. To find the total kinetic energy of the oval and vortex in turbulent mode, Green’s function methods with special definitions and flow functions that describe the movement of the vortex are applied. The results are expressed in lemmas and theorems. For the hydrodynamic equilibrium of Jupiter, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the preservation of the cyclone and the anticyclone are mentioned. The relationships between the angular velocity and the gradient of pressure and the Corolias parameter are also given. The Rossby number is given for steady rotational motion. These facts show the existence of necessary and sufficient conditions for maintaining the stability of rotational motion and prove the hydrodynamic equilibrium of Jupiter. In this case using stream function and constructing generalized Green’s function and accordance energy conservation laws, the hydrodynamic equilibrium of Jupiter is proved.

New Approaches of Theoretical Astrophysics for Application to Some Astronomical Objects: I. An Application of Non-Classical Equation Mathematical Physics to the Magneto-Hydrodynamic Equilibrium (in Case of Mixed Magnetic Field) of Magnetic Stars

In this paper, we consider the application of the equation of non-classical mathematical physics to magneto-hydrodynamic equilibrium (in the case of a mixed magnetic field) for magnetic stars. First, we give the necessary concepts about the equation of non-classical mathematical physics and the possibility of their applicability to astrophysical problems. The conditions of magneto-hydrodynamic equilibrium are determinate, and self-consistence provides the means to derive the corresponding partial differential equations describing this equilibrium in a magnetosphere magnetic star. Namely, this process is to the non-classical equations of mathematical physics in cases of types. Keldysh-Tricomi, a common case equation of non-classical type, is at first introduced by the author. Using the two main physical efficiencies of MHD. A mathematical model of a poloidal-toroidal mixed magnetic field for magnetic stars is constructed, and this model is classified with respect to degenerating case equations. According to Hopf’s theorem, Maxwell’s equation and the magnetic force balance equation constructed equilibrium conditions of the poloidal-toroidal of the magnetic ﬁeld for a magnetic star. At the same time, the taken example, which is the self-consistency of this model by observation dates, is investigated. At first, in an application, the method of straight lines for recurrent formulas of calculation of magnetic flux and stream functions is used. The physical means, the corresponding singular point of the sonic line, cutoff, and resonance phenomena are considered. In this case, a general solution equation is found, which is interpreted by this phenomenon as a cutoff, resonance. Finally, this obtained solution gives the conditions of magneto-hydrodynamic equilibrium on the magnetosphere of magnetic stars. Methodology and obtained equations are new approaches that are at first considered.

Bismuth teUuride （Bi2Te3） is one of the most important commercial thermoelectric materials. In recent years, the discovery of topologically protected surface states in Bi chalcogenides has paved the way for their application in nanoelectronics. Determination of the fracture toughness plays a crucial role for the potential application of topological insulators in flexible electronics and nanoelectro- mechanical devices. Using depth-sensing nanoindentation tests, we investigated for the first time the fracture toughness of bulk single crystals of Bi2Te3 topological insulators, grown using the Bridgmantockbarger method. Our results highlight one of the possible pitfalls of the technology based on topological insulators.
