BACKGROUND The sphericity of the femoral head is a metric used to evaluate hip pathologies and is associated with the development of osteoarthritis and femoral-acetabular *** To analyze the three-dimensional asphericity of the femoral head of asymptomatic pediatric *** hypothesized that femoral head asphericity will vary significantly between male and female pediatric hips and increase with age in both *** Computed tomography scans were obtained on 158 children and adolescents from a single institution in the United States(8-18 years;50%male)without hip *** femoral measurements including the femoral head diameter,femoral head volume,residual volume,asphericity index,and local diameter difference were used to evaluate femoral head *** In both sexes,the residual volume increased by age(Pmaller femoral head size in older ages(>13 years)in females,there were no sex-differences in residual volume and aspherity *** were no age-related changes in mean diameter difference in both sexes(P=0.07)with no significant sex-differences across different age groups(P=0.06).In contrast,there were significant increases in local aspherity(maximum diameter difference)across whole surface of the femoral head and all quadrants except the inferior regions in males(P=0.03).There were no sex-differences in maximum diameter difference at any regions and age group(P>0.05).Increased alpha angle was only correlated to increased mean diameter difference across overall surface of the femoral head(P=0.024).CONCLUSION There is a substantial localized asphericity in asymptomatic hips which increases with age *** 2D measured alpha angle can capture overall asphericity of the femoral head,it may not be sensitive enough to represent regional asphericity patterns.

Security and safety remain paramount concerns for both governments and individuals *** today’s context,the frequency of crimes and terrorist attacks is alarmingly increasing,becoming increasingly intolerable to ***,there is a pressing need for swift identification of potential threats to preemptively alert law enforcement and security forces,thereby preventing potential attacks or violent *** advancements in big data analytics and deep learning have significantly enhanced the capabilities of computer vision in object detection,particularly in identifying *** paper introduces a novel automatic firearm detection surveillance system,utilizing a one-stage detection approach named mARIE(mechanism for Realtime Identification of Firearms).mARIE incorporates the Single Shot multibox Detector(SSD)model,which has been specifically optimized to balance the speed-accuracy trade-off critical in firearm detection *** SSD model was further refined by integrating mobileNetV2 and InceptionV2 architectures for superior feature extraction *** experimental results demonstrate that this modified SSD configuration provides highly satisfactory performance,surpassing existing methods trained on the same dataset in terms of the critical speedaccuracy *** these innovations,mARIE sets a new standard in surveillance technology,offering a robust solution to enhance public safety effectively.

Nanosecond pulse and dual-wavelength Q-switched 1.5 μm fiber laser using mAX phase Cr2TiAlC2 saturable absorber

We demonstrated a new type of mAX phase material, chromium titanium aluminum carbide（Cr2TiAlC2） polymer film, to generate a passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser（EDFL）. The film thickness was measured to be around 45 μm, which was fabricated using the embedding method with polyvinyl alcohol（PVA） polymer as hoster. The saturable absorber（SA） film demonstrates a dual-wavelength passively Q-switched EDFL which operates at 1 531 nm and 1 560.19 nm, respectively. The Q-switching pulse duration could be varied from 2.46 μs to 770 ns, while the repetition rate varied from 92.76 kHz to 106.6 kHz with an increasing input pumping range from 154 mW to 300 mW. The maximum output power and pulse energy of 15.05 mW and 141.18 nJ were obtained at the maximum input power of 300 mW, respectively.

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

Comparative study of living donor kidney transplants:Right vs left

BACKGROUND Transplant teams often hesitate to use the right kidney(RK)in living donor(LD)transplants due to the complexities of anastomosing the short,thin-walled right renal veins,which can potentially lead to graft loss or graft ***,circumstances may arise where selecting the RK over the left kidney(LK)is ***,it is crucial to thoroughly examine the implications of such a choice on the overall transplant *** To compare transplant outcomes between recipients of RK and LK while examining the factors that influence these *** We retrospectively analyzed data from adult patients who received LD kidney transplants involving meticulous patient selection and surgical techniques at our center from January 2020 to December *** included all kidney donors who were over 18,fit to donate,and had undergone diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid split function and/or computed tomography based *** variables examined comprised donor and recipient demographics,and outcome measures included technical graft loss(TGL),delayed or slow graft function(SGF),and post-transplant serum creatinine(SC)*** used a logistic regression model to assess the likelihood of adverse outcomes considering the donor kidney *** Of the 250 transplants performed during the period,56(22%)were *** recipient demographics and transplant factors were comparable for the right and LKs,except that the donor warm and cold ischemia time were shorter for *** and SGF each occurred in 2%(n=1)of RKs and 0.5%(n=1)of LKs,the difference being *** complications,however,were not related to the venous *** RK(2%)developed delayed graft function after 48 hours,which was attributable to postoperative hypoxia rather than the surgical *** post-transplant SC trend and mean SC at the last follow-up were similar across both kidney *** The donor kidney side has little impact on post-transplant

Pollen morphology of the family Cistaceae in Egypt and its systematic significance

The pollen morphology of 11 species (including two subspecies and two varieties) belonging to two genera (Helianthemum and Fumana) of the family Cistaceae in Egypt was studied using light and scanning electron *** grains of the studied taxa were found to be radially symmetrical and *** size,shape,apertures,and exine ornamentation characteristics were valuable parameters among the studied *** largest pollen size was recorded in *** and the smallest one observed in *** ***- *** shape in the Egyptian taxa varied from (sub-)prolate to prolate spheroidal,but *** is different in having sub-oblate *** pollen data confirm that *** and *** are very closely related *** sculpture was useful in distinguishing between *** *** and *** *** main pollen types of exine ornamentation were recognized: retipilate;reticulate to verrucate;and *** on palynological data,a key for the studied taxa is suggested.

Study of magnetic and optical properties of Zn1-xTmxTe(Tm = mn,Fe,Co,Ni) diluted magnetic semiconductors：First principle approach

We present structural,magnetic and optical characteristics of Zn_（1-x）Tm_xTe（Tm = mn,Fe,Co,Ni and x = 6.25%）,calculated through Wien2 k code,by using full potential linearized augmented plane wave（FP-LAPW） *** optimization of the crystal structures have been done to compare the ferromagnetic（Fm） and antiferromagnetic（AFm） ground state energies,to elucidate the ferromagnetic phase stability,which further has been verified through the formation and cohesive ***,the estimated Curie temperatures T_c have demonstrated above room temperature ferromagnetism（RTFm） in Zn_（1-x）Tm_xTe（Tm =mn,Fe,Co,Ni and x= 6.25%）.The calculated electronic properties have depicted that mn- and Co-doped ZnTe behave as ferromagnetic semiconductors,while half-metallic ferromagnetic behaviors are observed in Fe- and Ni-doped *** presence of ferromagnetism is also demonstrated to be due to both the p-d and s-d hybridizations between the host lattice cations and Tm *** calculated band gaps and static real dielectric constants have been observed to vary according to Penn＇s *** evaluated band gaps lie in near visible and ultraviolet regions,which make these materials suitable for various important device applications in optoelectronic and spintronic.

New Exact Solutions of Two Nonlinear Physical models

Abundant new exact solutions of the Schamel-Korteweg-de Vries （S-KdV） equation and modified Zakharov- Kuznetsov equation arising in plasma and dust plasma are presented by using the extended mapping method and the availability of symbolic computation. These solutions include the Jacobi elliptic function solutions, hyperbolic function solutions, rational solutions, and periodic wave solutions. In the limiting cases, the solitary wave solutions are obtained and some known solutions are also recovered.

Spatial regression approach to estimate synthetic unit hydrograph by geomorphic characteristics of watersheds in arid regions

Rainfall-runoff relationship in arid regions is unique and challenging to *** for bridging the hydro-meteorological knowledge gap for planning,designing and managing water resources is therefore vitally *** objective of this study is to develop a method for estimating unit hydrograph at reasonably finer time resolutions(10-min and 1-h)which can be easily adaptable by practitioners at subcatchment levels,especially when the focus area is *** wadi-flow at 5-min interval and tipping bucket rainfall measurements at 1-min interval were obtained to cover 10 major watersheds in *** deconvolution method was applied to derive the unit hydrographs(UHs)from wadi-flow and excess *** catchment characteristics such as the watershed area,length of the main wadi and the length to the centroid of the catchment area were derived from digital elevation model(DEm)*** whole study area was then divided into 515 sub-catchments with various shapes and sizes.A strong relationship was found between the wadi length and the length to the centroid of the catchment area(R2>0.89).This relationship was then adopted to simplify the classical Snyder method to determine ***,several parameters of the Snyder method were calibrated to the arid environment by matching the peak-flow,lag-time and three time-widths(75%,50%and 30%of the peak-flow)of 10-min and 1-h UHs with physical characteristics of the *** developed relationships were validated with independent rainfall and wadi-flow *** indicate that the calibrated parameters in these arid watersheds are quite distinct from those suggested for other regions of the world.A marked difference was found between the 10-min UHs estimated by the S-hydrograph method and the deconvolution ***,it is concluded that a method depends on natural hydro-meteorological conditions would be more practical in arid *** proposed methodology can be used for water resources ma

Fe_(3)O_(4)-carbon spheres core–shell supported palladium nanoparticles:A robust and recyclable catalyst for suzuki coupling reaction

Suzuki-miyaura(S-m)is regarded the most powerful way for synthesis biaryls,triaryls,or incorporating of substituted aryl moieties in organic preparation by the cross-coupling of aryl boronic acid with aryl halides using the Pd *** work reports the combining of the hydrothermal and microwaveassisted protocol to convert the glucose to magnetic carbon spheres(Fe_(3)O_(4)-CSPs)decorated with Pd nanoparticles(NPs)as the catalyst for Suzuki-miyaura cross-coupling *** physicochemical properties in the produced composite were examined using FESEm,HRTEm,nitrogen isotherms,Raman spectroscopy,FTIR,XPS,and *** as-fabricated composite Pd/Fe_(3)O_(4)-CSPs is mostly spherical with a core–shell structure and possesses a great surface area of 253.2 m^(2).g^(-1).Its catalytic performance demonstrates that the composite has excellent stability and high tolerance Suzuki-miyaura crosscoupling reactions in 30 min at 80℃.Both activated and deactivated aryl halides provided excellent *** as-fabricated catalyst was recycled for up to four catalytic cycles without a substantial decline in ***,this research offers a facile roadmap for synthesizing Pd/Fe_(3)O_(4)-CSPs composites and promoting the practical implementation of Pd/Fe_(3)O_(4)-CSPs catalysts for organic transformation processes.
