A non-conventional hybrid numerical approach with multi-dimensional random sampling for cocaine abuse in Spain

This paper introduces a non-conventional approach with multi-dimensional random sampling to solve a cocaine abuse model with statistical probability. The mean Latin hypercube finite difference (MLHFD) method is proposed for the first time via hybrid integration of the classical numerical finite difference (FD) formula with Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) technique to create a random distribution for the model parameters which are dependent on time t. The LHS technique gives advantage to MLHFD method to produce fast variation of the parameters' values via number of multidimensional simulations (100, 1000 and 5000). The generated Latin hypercube sample which is random or non-deterministic in nature is further integrated with the FD method to complete one cycle of LHS-FD simulation iteration. This process is repeated until n final iterations of LHS-FD are obtained. The means of these n final solutions (MLHFD solutions) are tabulated, graphed and analyzed. The numerical simulation results of MLHFD for the SEIR model are presented side-by-side with deterministic solutions obtained from the classical FD scheme and homotopy analysis method with Pade approximation (HAM-Pade). The present MLHFD results are also compared with the previous non-deterministic statistical estimations from 1995 to 2015. Good agreement between the two is perceived with small errors. MLHFD method can be used to predict future behavior, range and prediction interval for the epidemic model solutions. The expected profiles of the cocaine abuse subpopulations are projected until the year 2045. Both the statistical estimations and the deterministic results of FD and HAM-Pade are found to be within the MLHFD prediction intervals for all the years and for all the subpopulations considered.

Empirical Bayesian Approach to Testing Homogeneity of Several Means of Inflated Poisson Distributions (IPD)

Objectives: We introduce a special form of the Generalized Poisson Distribution. The distribution has one parameter, yet it has a variance that is larger than the mean a phenomenon known as “over dispersion”. We discuss potential applications of the distribution as a model of counts, and under the assumption of independence we will perform statistical inference on the ratio of two means, with generalization to testing the homogeneity of several means. Methods: Bayesian methods depend on the choice of the prior distributions of the population parameters. In this paper, we describe a Bayesian approach for estimation and inference on the parameters of several independent Inflated Poisson (IPD) distributions with two possible priors, the first is the reciprocal of the square root of the Poisson parameter and the other is a conjugate Gamma prior. The parameters of Gamma distribution are estimated in the empirical Bayesian framework using the maximum likelihood (ML) solution using nonlinear mixed model (NLMIXED) in SAS. With these priors we construct the highest posterior confidence intervals on the ratio of two IPD parameters and test the homogeneity of several populations. Results: We encountered convergence problem in estimating the hyperparameters of the posterior distribution using the NLMIXED. However, direct maximization of the predictive density produced solutions to the maximum likelihood equations. We apply the methodologies to RNA-SEQ read count data of gene expression values.

Vegetation Composition of Abu Tartur Mining Region （Western Desert, Egypt）： Biological and Phytochemical Survey of Some Studied Taxa

Groundwater in Egypt plays an important role in the country＇s water budget. South Western desert represent an arid of desert biome within world＇s net-work of the biosphere reserves. In this study, the plant wild vegetation were surveyed in Abu Tartur mining area located in the Southern part of Western depending essentially on the seepage from water line tubes which supplies water demands at Abu Tartur. The vegetation-environment relationships in Abu Tartur are described. Data sets （42 species in 38 plots） beside the pip-line enriched from 13 wells were analyzed, using multivariate procedures, i.e., two-way indicator species analysis （TW1NSPAN）, detrended correspondence analysis （DCA） and detrended canonical correspondence analysis （CCA）, to produce a classification of plant communities in the studied areas and to examine the relationships of that plant communities to certain edaphic factors. Five plant communities were identified. Astragalus vogelii, Chenopodium murale, Citrullus colocynthis, Fagonia arabica, Farsetia aegyptia, Hyoscyamus muticus, Morettia philaeana, Cynodon dactylon, Trichodesma africana, Tarnarix nilotica, Senna italica, Schouwia purpurea, Salsola volkensii and Phragmites australis were common in the study area. Phytochemical survey for nitroprpionic compounds in some taxa belonging to Fabaceae family showed the absence of these toxic compounds by using GC/MS analysis. Also some phytochemical components ofAstragalus vogalii were extracted and identified by GC/MS spectra. A biological activity, in this regard was the screening of methanol extracts for some wild taxa of Abu Tartur against natural Tetranychus urticae as acricidal activity and the methanol extracts of some taxa give high mortality results, like Farsetia aegyptia （86.6%） and Fagonia arabica Burm. f. （70.0%）.

A Series Solution Approach to the Circular Restricted Gravitational Three-Body Dynamical Problem

The present manuscript examines the circular restricted gravitational three-body problem (CRGTBP) by the introduction of a new approach through the power series method. In addition, certain computational algorithms with the aid of Mathematica software are specifically designed for the problem. The algorithms or rather mathematical modules are established to determine the velocity and position of the third body’s motion. In fact, the modules led to accurate results and thus proved the new approach to be efficient.

High fat diet dysregulates microRNA-17-5p and triggers retinal inflammation:Role of endoplasmic-reticulum-stress

AIM To elucidate how high diet-induced endoplasmic reticulum-stress upregulates thioredoxin interacting protein expression in Müller cells leading to retinal inflammation. METHODS Male C57Bl/J mice were fed either normal diet or 60% high fat diet for 4-8 wk. During the 4 wk study, mice received phenyl-butyric acid(PBA); endoplasmic reticulum-stress inhibitor; for 2 wk. Insulin resistance was assessed by oral glucose tolerance. Effects of palmitate-bovine serum albumin(BSA)(400 μmol/L) were examined in retinal Müller glial cell line and primary Müller cells isolated from wild type and thioredoxin interacting protein knock-out mice. Expression of thioredoxin interacting protein, endoplasmic reticulum-stress markers, mi R-17-5p m RNA, as well as nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein(NLRP3) and IL1β protein was *** High fat diet for 8 wk induced obesity and insulin resistance evident by increases in body weight and impaired glucose tolerance. By performing quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, we found that high fat diet triggered the expression of retinal endoplasmic reticulum-stress markers(P < 0.05). These effects were associated with increased thioredoxin interacting protein and decreased mi R-17-5p expression, whichwere restored by inhibiting endoplasmic reticulumstress with PBA(P < 0.05). In vitro, palmitate-BSA triggered endoplasmic reticulum-stress markers, which was accompanied with reduced mi R-17-5p and induced thioredoxin interacting protein m RNA in retinal Müller glial cell line(P < 0.05). Palmitate upregulated NLRP3 and IL1β expression in primary Müller cells isolated from wild type. Reproductive disturbances among Saudi adolescent girls and young women with type 1 diabetes mellitus

AIM To identify reproductive disturbances among adolescent girls and young women with type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1 DM) in Saudi *** This cross sectional study was conducted among 102 female with T1 DM,(aged 13-29 years) who attended the Diabetes Clinic at Diabetes Treatment Center, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Saudi Arabia between April 2015 to March 2016. Clinical history, anthropometric characteristics and reproductive disturbance were collected through a *** Of 102 patients included in this analysis, 26.5%(27/102) were reported that they experienced an irregular menses. Of these patients, when compared to whose diabetes was diagnosed before menarche(35.4%, 17/48), patients diagnosed with diabetes after menarche(18.5%, 10/54) showed significantly less irregular menses(difference 16.9%, P = 0.04). Similarly, compared to patients diagnosed with diabetes prior to menarche(mean age 12.9 years; n = 48), patients diagnosed with diabetes after menarche(meanage 12.26 years; n = 54) were found to have 0.64 years delay in the age of menarche(P = 0.04). Among the studied patients, 15.7%(16/102) had polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS). Of these PCOS patients, 37.5%(6/16) had irregular menses, 6.3%(1/16) had Celiac disease, 37.5%(6/16) had Hashimoto thyroiditis and 18.7%(3/16) had *** More than one fourth of the study population with T1 DM experiencing an irregular menses. Adolescent girls and young women diagnosed with diabetes prior to menarche showed higher menstrual irregularity and a delay in the age of menarche.

The exp<span style="font-family:Symbol;font-size:11pt;">(-j(x))</span>Method and Its Applications for Solving Some Nonlinear Evolution Equations in Mathematical Physics

The ?exp(-j(x))?method is employed to find the exact traveling wave solutions involving parameters for nonlinear evolution equations. When these parameters are taken to be special values, the solitary wave solutions are derived from the exact traveling wave solutions. It is shown that the ?exp(-j(x))??method provides an effective and a more powerful mathematical tool for solving nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics. Comparison between our results and the well-known results will be presented.
