Gallium nitride(GaN)/porous silicon(PSi)film was prepared using a pulsed laser deposition method and 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for optoelectronic applications and a series of Psi substrates were fabricated using a photoelectrochemical etching method assisted by laser at different etching times for 2.5–15 min at 2.5 min intervals.X-ray diffraction,room-temperature photoluminescence,atomic force microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy images,and electrical characteristics in the prepared GaN on the Psi film were *** optimum Psi substrate was obtained under the following conditions:10 min,10 mA/cm^(2),and 24%hydrofluoric *** substrate exhibited two highly cubic crystalline structures at(200)and(400)orientations and yellow visible band photoluminescence,and homogeneous pores formed over the entire *** pores had steep oval shapes and were accompanied by small dark pores that appeared topographically and *** GaN/Psi film fabricated through PLD exhibited a high and hexagonal crystallographic texture in the(002)*** properties results revealed that the photoluminescence emission of the deposited nano-GaN films was in the ultraviolet band(374 nm)related to GaN material and in the near-infrared band(730 nm)related to the Psi *** topographical and morphological results of the GaN films confirmed that the deposited film contained spherical grains with an average diameter of 51.8 nm and surface roughness of 4.8 *** GaN/Psi surface showed a cauliflower-like morphology,and the built-in voltage decreased from 3.4 to 2.7 eV after *** fabricated GaN/Psi film exhibited good electrical characteristics.

This study aims to investigate the possibility of improving the flame Retardancy for the hybrid composite material consisting araldite resin (CY223). The hybrid composite was reinforced by hybrid fibers from carbon and Kevlar fibers on woven roving form (45o -0o), by using a surface layer of 4mm thick of Zinc Borate flame retardant. Afterward, the structure was exposed directly to gas flame of 2000oC due to 10 mm and 20mm exposure interval. The retardant layer thermal resistance and protection capability were determined. The study was continued to improve the performance of Zinc Borate layer mixed by 10%, 20% and 30% of Antimony Trioxide. To determine the heat transfer of the composite material the opposite surface temperature method was used. Zinc Borate with (30%) Antimony Trioxide gives the optimized result of the experiment.

Productivity is a very important element in the process of construction project management especially with regard to the estimation of the duration of the construction activities, this study aims at developing construction productivity estimating model for marble finishing works of floors using Multivariable Linear Regression technique (MLR). The model was developed based on 100 set of data collected in Iraq for different types of projects such as residential, commercial and educational projects. Which these are used in developing the model and evaluating its performance. Ten influencing factors are utilized for productivity forecasting by MLR model, and they include age, experience, number of the assist labor, height of the floor, size of the marbles tiles, security conditions, health status for the work team, weather conditions, site condition, and availability of construction materials. One model was built for the prediction of the productivity of marble finishing works for floors. It was found that MLR have the ability to predict the productivity for finishing works with excellent degree of accuracy of the coefficient of correlation (R) 90.6%, and average accuracy percentage of 96.3%. This indicates that the relationship between the independent and independent variables of the developed models is good and the predicted values from a forecast model fit with the real-life data.

Backgrounds: Cardiovascular diseases are still the prominent cause of death in cases of end-stage renal disease, cardiac troponin I (cTnI) can be used for detecting cardiac involvement in asymptomatic cases of end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis. Aim: Determine the direct cardiac consequence of dialysis treatments in children on hemodialysis by measuring high-sensitive troponin-I as a marker of myocardial injury. Subjects and Methods: This case-control study included thirty children with end-stage renal disease on regular hemodialysis;the study group was selected from the nephrology hemodialysis unit of Al-Zahraa Hospital, Al-Azhar University. Another group of thirty healthy children matches age and sex with the patient’s group as a control. Highly Sensitive cTnI (hsTnI) was measured pre and post hemodialysis with a sensitive assay;moreover, ECG, lipid profile including cholesterol, triglyceride, low and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in the same line with routine investigations for those patients, we used bioimpedance for dry weight assessment in the hemodialysis (HD) group. Results: Children on (HD) have a significantly higher (hsTnI) pre-dialysis (0.250 ± 0.069 ng/ml) compared to post-dialysis (0.187 ± 0.004 ng/ml) with (p, 0.001). With no significant difference between post HD (0.187 ± 0.004 ng/ml) and the control group (0.189 ± 0.005) with (p, 0.090). cTnI is detected in (73.3%) of children pre-dialysis above the cut-off value compared to (3.31%) had a high-level post-dialysis. cTnI is positively correlated with systolic, diastolic blood pressure and heart rate with (r. 0.333, p, 0.001: r. 0.343, p, 0.001: r. 0.276, p, 0.033) respectively and (hsTnI) is negatively correlated with Hb and HDL (r. -0.333, p, 0.009: r. 0.324, p, 0.011). The research included employment of the meteorological surface data such as surface pressure and wind speed and direction to determine the sources of dust in Iraq through the study and analysis of dust phenomena that strike Iraq in 2011 and at different times of the year. The results showed that Iraq was suffering to No. （18） dust storms in 2011. The highest wind speed recorded at the beginning of the composition of most the dust storms ranged of 6-10 m/s and the lowest wind speed values ranged of 10-14 m/s, while the direction of the wind in No. （14） dust storms were flowed from NW （northwest）, only No. （4） dust storms were flowed from southwest SW （southwest）, due to the fact that the prevailing wind in Iraq is NW in most days of the year. Atmospheric pressure values recorded for the day of dust storms are ranged of 960-990 millibar, due to the existence Iraq under high pressure system most days of the year. Satellite data of Meteosat 9 are used to determine the sources of dust over Iraq. Used the Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations CALIPSO data to determine the vertical section of the dust, during a dust storm.

Role of Multidetector CT in Staging of Gastric Carcinoma

Background: Radiology plays an essential role in the diagnosis, staging and surveillance of oncology patients. CT is the most sensitive imaging modality in the workup of these patients. Aim of the Study: The aim of this work is to detect the role of MDCT (multidetector computed tomography) in the preoperative investigation of gastric adenocarcinoma patients according to TNM staging. Patients and Methods: This is a prospective study enrolling 20 patients who had histologically proven adenocarcinoma based upon an upper gastrointestinal endoscopic biopsy for MDCT staging of gastric carcinoma during the period from June 2016 to June 2017. The MSCT data were correlated and compared with the histopathological results. The study was conducted in the Radiology Department of Assiut University Hospital using 64-MDCT (Toshiba Aquilion). Results: According to our study results, the sensitivity of determining T1 stage on CT scan can’t be detected as there was only 1 case pathologically proved T1 and overstaged as T2 by MSCT;however, accuracy and specificity are quite high, which was 95% and 100% respectively. For T2 stage tumors (25.0% of cases), accuracy is 95%, sensitivity—100%, and specificity—93.7%. According to our results the accuracy and sensitivity of T3 staging are 75% and 100%, while those of T4 stage were 75% and 44.4% respectively. Tumor was correctly staged in 14 of 20 patients (the valid T staging rate was 70.0%). Tumor was under-staged in 5 of 20 patients (25.0%) (staged as T3, but pathologically proven to be T4a). As regards N staging accuracy found results for N0 (62.5%), N2 (87.5%) and N3 (75%), while N1 accuracy recorded 37.5%. As regards the nodal staging sensitivity which had a range from (0% for N4) to (66% for N2) this wide range of sensitivity demonstrates the problem of CT in nodal staging. Penetrating Abdominal Injuries: Pattern and Outcome of Management in Khartoum

Background: The pattern and presentation of penetrating abdominal trauma vary according to places and the structure of the present health system. As well controversies in management exist ranging from mandatory exploration to selective non-operative management. Objectives: To determine the pattern of penetrating abdominal trauma, current management practiced and outcome in Khartoum. Patients and Methods: The study was prospective, descriptive and hospital-based. It was carried out at the main three hospitals in Khartoum State. It was conducted over a period of one year from 2012 Mar to 2013 Mar. All patients who presented penetrating injury to their abdomen were included. Results: The study included 85 patients with a mean age of 28 years (SD ± 10). The male to female ratio was 11:1. Most of the patients (89.4%) were in the first four decades of their life. Twenty-three patients (27.1%) presented shock. Stab wound is the commonest mode of trauma seen in 83.5% of our patients. The majority of our patients were managed by exploratory laparotomy (81.2%), however 16 (18.8%) underwent conservative measures. Of the operated group, solid organ injuries were found in 22.9%, yet hollow viscous injuries were reported in 86.9% of the patients. Registrars operated on 78.26% of the patients. The rate of negative laparotomy of this study was 8.7%. Complications and mortality were encountered in 25.9% and 4.7% respectively. The mean hospital stay was 8.47 days (SD ± 10.6). Conclusion: This study demonstrates no difference in the pattern of intra-abdominal injuries. The rate of operative treatment is acceptable, but more laparotomies can be avoided if the haemodynamic stable patients without features of peritonitis were given a period of observation. The overall outcome was satisfactory.

Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma in Young People

Background: malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is characterized by long latency period between exposure to asbestos and development of the disease so we hypothesize that MPM in the young has different characteristics. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study including all eligible patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma presenting to National Cancer Institute, Cairo University during the period from 2008 to 2013. Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1: patients aged ≤45 years. Group 2: Patients aged >45 years. Both groups were assessed regarding different clinicpathological features. Primary Objectives: comparison of different epidemiological features of both groups. Secondary Objectives: assessment of clinical response (CR), progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in both groups. Results: 102 Patients were included with median follow up of 14.4 months. Group (1) included 35 patients with mean age 40 ± 3.65 years (31 to 45 years). Group (2) included 67 patients with mean age of 58.6 ± 8.5 years (46 to 87 years). 68% of group (1) came from endemic areas which is significantly higher than group (2): (35.8%), p = 0.02. History of Asbestos exposure was highly significantly different between the 2 groups, 77.1% in group (1) versus 38.8% in group (2), p < 0.001. Other factors showed no significant differences between the two groups. Overall clinical response (CR + PR) was 20% in group (1) versus 17.9% in group (2). P = 0.7. There was a trend towards longer median PFS in young patients, (19.8 ± 8.4 versus 6.9 ± 1.4 months). p = 0.09. The median OS of young patients is significantly longer (20.6 ± 6.3 months) than older patients (11.4 ± 3.6). p = 0.05. Conclusions: Mesothelioma in the young is more sensitive to asbestos exposure, has better OS and likely a different disease entity which needs further studies to understand its underlying biological features.
