Strategies for the analysis of single-tree plot experiments in Eucalyptus plantations

Cerebral pericytes are perivascular cells that stabilize blood vessels. Little is known about the plasticity of pericytes in the adult brain in vivo. Recently, using stateof-the-art technologies, including two-photon microscopy in combination with sophisticated Cre/loxP in vivo tracing techniques, a novel role of pericytes was revealed in vascular remodeling in the adult brain. Strikingly, after pericyte ablation, neighboring pericytes expand their processes and prevent vascular dilatation. This new knowledge provides insights into pericyte plasticity in the adult brain.

The use of cartography in geographical approaches, notably in those focused on territorial discussions, is gaining more and more importance. However, the use of technical maps still prevails, which often act to hinder its use and appropriation by traditional communities. Based on this assumption, this article seeks to show that, in addition to technical cartography, there are other methodologies, which should also be used, in both elaboration and representation of territories, such as the participatory mapping. For that, some recommendations and suggestions are presented in this paper, aiming to subsidize the application and the collaboration of maps, through the mentioned methodology. These suggestions and contributions are the result of both theoretical debates and in loci observations, in workshops held in traditional communities of Brazilian Amazonia. From these discussions, it is concluded that the adoption of participatory mapping in the process of valuing and understanding the knowledge of traditional communities is of great value, in addition to serving as a subsidy for the claims of rights of both appropriation and possession of the territory.

汽车和航空航天工业对减少运载工具重量的需求不断增加,这就需要发展改良的结构铝基合金。因此,本文作者研究设计Al-7%Si-0.3%Mg合金的水平凝固实验。研制并使用水冷式水平定向凝固装置。运用金相、光学显微镜、扫描电镜等传统技术表征材料的显微组织。用Thermo-Calc软件模拟含0.17%Fe(质量分数)合金的凝固路径。研究生长速度(V_L)、冷却速度(T_C)和凝固局部时间(t_(SL))等热力学参数对显微组织形成和枝晶显微组织演化的影响。当V_L和T_C值分别为0.82~0.98 mm/s和1.71~2.55°C/s时,柱状晶向等轴晶转变(CET)。通过测量一次和二次枝晶间距(分别为λ_1和λ_2)对显微组织进行表征。提出实验性定律:λ_(1,2)=f(V_L,T_C),λ_2=f(t_(SL));并观察到枝晶区包含以下共晶混合物:α(Al)+Si+π-Al_8Mg_3Fe Si_6+θ-Mg_2Si。

This study was conducted to evaluate the physiological quality of forage seeds after passage through the gastrointestinal tract of cattle, as well as the emergence of seedlings derived from these seeds. Three Fabaceae species were used: tropical kudzu, leucaena and calopo. One hundred grams of seeds of each species were offered, separately, to five bovines. After the start of the dispersion, the faeces of the animals were collected every 6 hours, in a total of 72 hours, being taken to the greenhouse immediately after each collection. The study evaluated the total number of seedlings in the stool, the lengths of roots and aerial parts, as well as the natural and dry seedling weight thirty days after the disposal of the faeces in the greenhouse. The experimental design consisted of randomized blocks, with twelve treatments (sampling periods) and five replications (cattle). The best performance for the total number of seedlings in the faeces of cattle was observed in the kudzu species. The length of the root, length of the aerial part and dry matter seedling weight was observed in the leucaena species, followed by kudzu. The calopo showed low results for all variables due to the high degradation of the seeds.

The main goal of this paper is to describe the mechanical behavior of the CDW recycled concrete in compression, using an isotropic damage model adapted to the variation of the replacement rate of natural aggregates by recycled ones. The isotropic model by Mazars was used as a constitutive equation for the CDW concrete and its adjustment parameters, A and B, were written as quadratic polynomials according to the aggregates replacement rate. The model was evaluated for conventional and recycled concretes. For the latter ones, the aggregates replacement ratios evaluated were 50% and 100%. The results show good approximation between the analytical and numerical values obtained with the adapted isotropic damage model and experimental concrete results for both compressive and flexural strength.

BACKGROUND Type 1 diabetes(T1D) is associated with major chronic microvascular complications which contribute significantly to diabetes associated *** protein primarily responsible for glucose reabsorption in the kidney is sodium glucose co-transporter 2(SGLT2). Given the broad therapeutic application of SGLT2 inhibitors, we hypothesised that SGLT2 inhibition may exert its protective effects via alterations of the gut microbiome and tested this in a type 1 diabetic mouse model of diabetic *** To determine whether the treatment with two independent SGLT2 inhibitors affects gut health in a type 1 diabetic mouse *** The SGLT2 inhibitors empagliflozin or dapagliflozin(25 mg/kg/d) or vehicle dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO) were administered to C57 BL/6 J, Akita, Kimba and Akimba mice at 10 wk of age for 8 wk via their drinking water. Serum samples were collected and the concentration of succinate and the short chain fatty acid(SCFA) butyric acid was measured using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was performed to determine the concentration of insulin and leptin. Furthermore, the norepinephrine content in kidney tissue was determined using ELISA. Pancreatic tissue was collected and stained with haematoxylin and eosin and analysed using brightfield *** Due to the presence of the Akita allele, both Akita and Akimba mice showed a reduction in insulin production compared to C57 BL/6 J and Kimba ***, Akita mice also showed the presence of apoptotic bodies within the pancreatic islets. This work aimed to evaluate the effects of different individual heights of cut on structural characteristics of Brachiaria hibrida cv. Mulato I in four periods of the year. The study was carried out at the Fazenda Experimental Vale do Acaraú, in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil, from January to december, 2008. The experimental design was a split plot, with the plots representing four pasture conditions through manual cuts of 10 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm and 40 cm heights, which were done every 30 days. Each treatment had three replications. The subplots were represented by four periods of evaluation: January-February-March, April-May-June, July-August-September and October-November-december. Fertilization was performed with 350 kg of N/ha, divided into monthly applications. Irrigation was conducted in alternate days during the dry season. The variables studied were: mean height before cutting (cm);dry matter content (%);total dry matter production (t/ha);percentage of leaves;percentage of stems;percentage of dead material;leaf blade/stem ratios;number of total leaves per tiller;number of live leaves per tiller;average size of leaves;and tiller density. Cutting at 10 cm caused a decrease in total dry matter production, underestimating the potential production. Cutting heights between 20 and 30 cm contributed positively to increase the total number of leaves, number of green leaves, average size of the leafs and total dry matter production. Under the present experimental conditions, cutting around 40 cm was not recommended because of a decreasing in the leaf/stem ratio and a increasing in stem fraction and dry matter content, compromising the structure of the canopy.

The immunological aspects of autoantibodies directed against paranodal and nodal proteins form a prominent field of ***-1 and contactin-1 associated protein,gliomedin and neurofascin(NF)are Ranvier node-related proteins[1,2].Antibodies against these proteins have been identified in chronic demyelinating conditions,such as multiple sclerosis(MS)and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy(CIDP);and in acute demyelinating diseases such as Guillain-Barre syndrome[3,4].Myelin and the paranodal axoglial junctions flanking the nodes of Ranvier are not merely passive transmitters of electric signals:instead,they have essential roles in maintaining the structural integrity of myelin-axolemmal interactions,bidirectional signaling and regulation of ion channels[5].
