Objective:To evaluate the effects of ethanol–water(80:20) extract of Marrubium vulgare(***) on the hematological parameters,macroscopic and histological aspects of the uterus and fetus in non-pregnant and pregnant ***:Female rats were divided into 4 equal groups(n = 9),group N(normal rats) and group G(pregnant rats) considered as control groups,group NE(normal rats treated with the ethanol–water(80:20,v/v) extract of ***) and group GE(pregnant rats treated with the extract).The ethanol–water(80:20) plant extract was administered in a single daily dose 1 g/kg at the morning,during 19 *** the 19 day of the experiment,animals were sacrificed,the uterus and fetuses were removed for the morphological and histological studies and the blood was collected in EDTA tubes for the measurement of hematological parameters with the use of an automate ‘HORIBA ABX Micros 60 Hematology Analyzer'.Results:Our results showed,in group NE and GE,a significant decrease on hematological parameters:red blood cells(NE:18.6%;GE:38.4%),hematocrit(NE:13.8%;GE:20.4%),hemoglobin(NE:12.1%;GE:8.3%) and mean corpuscular volume(NE:6.4%;GE:2%) with P more less a ***,the extract of *** caused a significant decrease on the mean implantations of fetuses(82.5%,Psize(47.2%,Ps for the macroscopic and histological appearance of uterus,our data showed no change in normal treated *** contrast,the treated pregnant rats showed a severe histological change characterized by the existence of location of stopped ***,it was also found in the uterus of these rat lyses placental and embryo ***:All these results support the hypothesis of an abortifacient effect of ***.

In vitro supplementation with date seed oil （DsO） can protect spermatozoa against hydrogen peroxide （HiO2）- mediated damage and can improve sperm function, possibly owing to antioxidant properties. We tested the antioxidant effects of DsO on human sperm motility, sperm viability, reacted acrosome and lipid peroxidation assessed in vitro after H202-mediated oxidative damage in spermatozoa. sixteen patients （mean age： 35 years; range： 25-45 years） referred to the Histology-Embryology Laboratory of the Medicine Faculty of sfax for semen analysis after 12-24 months of sexual intercourse without conception were selected. After spermiogram, sperm selection by twointerface discontinuous sill select gradient was performed, and selected spermatozoa were used in four experimental assays： control; incubation with 100um H2O2; incubation with 0.1% DsO; and co-incubation with 0.1% DsO and 100 um H2O2. Motility and viability were determined using World Health Organization criteria. Acrosome reaction and lipid peroxidation were assessed by staining with fluorescein isothiocyanate-Pisum sativum and spectrophotometric measurement of malondialdehyde, respectively. Results showed that incubation with H2O2 alone led to a significant increase in lipid peroxidation （57.83%, P 〈 0.05） associated with a significant decrease in sperm motility, sperm viability （after 30 min and 24 h） and percentage of reacted acrosome （P 〈 0.05）. Date seed oil im- proved sperm motility after 24 h of incubation （P 〈 0.05） and protected spermatozoa against the deleterious effects of H2O2 on motility, viability, acrosome reaction and lipid peroxidation. We conclude that supplementation with DsO may have a function in antioxidant protection against male infertility.

AIM: To compare the performance of the Child-Pugh-Turcott (CPT) score to that of the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score in predicting survival of a retrospective cohort of 172 Black African patients with cirrhosis on a short and mid-term ***: Univariate and multivariate (Cox model) analyses were used to identify factors related to mortality. Relationship between the two scores was appreciated by calculating the correlation coefficient. The Kaplan Meier method and the log rank test were used to elaborate and compare survival respectively. The Areas Under the Curves were used to compare the performance between scores at 3, 6 and 12 ***: The study population comprised 172 patients, of which 68.9% were male. The mean age of the patient was 47.5 ± 13 years. Hepatitis B virus infection was the cause of cirrhosis in 70% of the cases. The overall mortality was 31.4% over 11 years of follow up. Independent factors significantly associated with mortality were: CPT score (HR = 3.3, 95% CI [1.7-6.2]) (P stage C vs stage A-B); serum creatine (HR = 2.5, 95% CI [1.4-4.3]) (P = 0.001) (serum creatine > 1.5 mg/dL versus serum creatine score (HR = 2.9, 95% CI [1.63-5.21]) (P 21 vs MELD s (AUC) that predict survival was 0.72 and 0.75 at 3 mo (P = 0.68), 0.64 and 0.62 at 6 mo (P = 0.67), 0.69 and 0.64 at 12 mo (P = 0.38) respectively for the CPT score and the MELD ***: The CPT score displays the sameprognostic significance as does the MELD score in black African patients with cirrhosis. Moreover, its handling appears less cumbersome in clinical practice as compared to the latter.

Vernacular buildings are known for their localized passive settings to provide comfortable indoor environment without air conditioning *** alternative is the consistent ground temperature over the year that earth-sheltered envelopes take the benefit;however,ensuring annual indoor comfort might be ***,this research monitors the indoor thermal indicators of 22 earth-sheltered buildings in Meymand,Iran with a warmdry ***,the observations are used to validate the simulation results through two outdoor and indoor environmental parameters,air temperature and relative humidity during the hottest period of the *** indicated that the main thermal comfort differences among case studies were mainly due to their architectural layouts where the associated variables including length,width,height,orientation,window-to-wall ratio,and shading depth were optimized through a linkage between Ladybug-tools and Genetic Algorithm(GA)concerning adaptive thermal comfort model definition and could enhance the annual thermal comfort by 31%.

The high mortality in larval-to-juvenile transition is a big problem in aquaculture which is related to the shifting from endogenous to exogenous ***,the underlying causes remain poorly ***,an evolutionary regulated cellular mechanism,is highly conserved in eukaryotic organisms to maintain energy homeostasis against stress including *** investigate whether autophagy plays a role during larval-to-juvenile transition,we generated atg7 and beclin1 zebrafish mutant lines using CRIsPR/Cas9 gene editing *** this study,both atg7 and beclin1 null zebrafish died during larval-to-juvenile transition because atg7 and beclin1 mutants were unable to cope with the metabolic stress after yolk absorption and fail to activate autophagy in response to nutrient ***,dramatic defects in the intestine architecture and metabolic functions in the liver of these mutants were observed even though refeeding *** with rapamycin,an activator of autophagy,could effectively extend the survival time of both atg7 and beclin1 null zebrafish through decreasing the metabolic rate while it couldn’t activate autophagy in mutants via the canonical ***,our results revealed that autophagy played a crucial role in zebrafish ontogeny during larval-to-juvenile transition,and it could be considered as one of the most important endogenous factors judging the survival rate of the developing embryos during this period.

Heterojunction is regarded as a crucial step toward realizing high-performance devices, particularly,forming gradient energy band between heterojunctions benefits self-powered photodetectors. Therefore, in this paper, the synthesis of CsPbInanorods(NRs) and its application as the interfacial layer in high-performance, all-solution-processed self-powered photodetectors are presented. For the bilayer photodetector ITO/ZnO(100 nm)/Pbs-TBAI(150 nm)/Au, a responsivity of 3.6 A/W with a specific detectivity of 9.8 × 10Jones was obtained under 0.1 mW/cm~2 white light illumination at zero bias(*** self-powered mode). Meanwhile, the photocurrent was enhanced to an On/Off current ratio of 105 at zero bias with an open circuit voltage of 0.53 V for trilayer photodetector ITO/ZnO(100 nm)/PbsTBAI(150 nm)/CsPbI(250 nm)/Au, in which the CsPbINRs layer works as the interfacial layer. As a result, a specific detectivity of 4.5 × 10Jones with a responsivity of 11.12 A/W was obtained under0.1 mW/cm~2 white light illumination, as well as the rising/decaying time of 0.57 s/0.41 s with excellent stability and reproducibility upto four weeks in air. The enhanced-performance is ascribed to the mismatch bandgap between Pbs-TBAI/CsPbIinterface, which can suppress the carrier recombination and provide efficient transport passages for charge carriers. Thus, it provides a feasible and efficient method for high-performance photodetectors.

The hazard of Hg ion pollution triggers the motivation to explore a fast, sensitive, and reliable detection method. Here, we design and fabricate novel 36-nm-thick Ag-Au composite layers alternately deposited on three-dimensional （3D） periodic siO2 nanogrids as surface-enhanced Raman scattering （sERs） probes. The sERs effects of the probes depend mainly on the positions and intensities of their localized surface plasmon resonance （LsPR） peaks, which is confirmed by the absorption spectra from finite-difference time-domain （FDTD） calculations. By optimizing the structure and material to maximize the intrinsic electric field enhancement based on the design method of 3D periodic sERs probes proposed, high performance of the Ag-Au/siO2 nanogrid probes is achieved with the stability further enhanced by annealing. The optimized probes show the outstanding stability with only 4.0% sERs intensity change during 10-day storage, the excellent detection uniformity of 5.78% （RsD）, the detection limit of 5.0 × 10-12 M （1 ppt）, and superior selectivity for Hg ions. The present study renders it possible to realize the rapid and reliable detection of trace heavy metal ions by developing high- performance 3D periodic structure sERs probes by designing novel 3D structure and optimizing plasmonic material.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of the essential oils and ethanol extracts of Ocimum basilicum *** from Assiut,Minia and Benisuef of *** major constituents of sweet basil essential oils from three locations were linalool,estragole,methyl cinnamate,bicyclosesquiphellandrene,eucalyptol,-bergamotene,eugenol,-cadinene and germacrene D by the method of GC–*** relative concentration of these compounds *** basil extracts contained appreciable levels of total phenolic contents and exhibited good DPPH radical scavenging capacity higher than that of essential *** highest TPC(82.45 mg PE/g)and maximum radical scavenging activity with IC50 value(1.29 mg/mL)was obtained from Minia basil *** correlation between antioxidant activity and total phenolic contents of basil extracts was *** variation in free radical scavenging activity of essential oils was *** essential oil from Minia basil showed high activity in DPPH radical scavenging with IC50(11.23 mg/mL)and contained the highest content of phenolic(41.3 mg PE/g).On contrary,low correlation between antioxidant activity and total phenolic contents of basil essential oils from different *** results of the present investigation demonstrated significant variations in the antioxidant activities of sweet basil essential oils and extracts from Egypt.

strong>Background:strong> Odontoid fractures are specific types of cervical fractures that show many challenges in their management. There are several types of Odontoid fractures with different modes of stability. There is no definite widely accepted way of management of Type II fractures among spine surgeons. There is a high rate of delayed or non-union of Odontoid fracture cases that are managed conservatively which may lead to dangerous complications. If non-union occurs, the patient should undergo surgical intervention as early as possible to avoid neurological deterioration. strong>Objective:strong> To demonstrate the value of intra-operative reduction and posterior stabilization of atlanto-axial junction in cases of non-union old Odontoid fractures and their outcome. The study was also to check for criteria associated with a favorable outcome and if posterior decompression will be associated with a better outcome. strong>Patients and Methods: strong>12 patients of old neglected Odontoid fractures following conservative management and complicated by non-union were operated through intra-operative reduction with posterior stabilization and fixation of atlanto-axial junction at Al-Azhar University Hospitals during the period starting from June 2016 till the end of December 2019 using screws and Rods. Intra-operative reduction under C-Arm X-ray and firm stabilization were aimed in all cases. Posterior cord decompression was an option in selected 4 patients with severe cord compression. Both intra-operative, post-operative radiological and clinical outcomes were assessed. strong>Results:strong> Good intra-operative reduction and alignment of fractured Odontoid process were obtained in all cases with use of 4 screws and 2 rods (2 screws and 1 rod on each side) in 11 cases and with using 2 screws and 1 rod (unilateral fixation) in one case. Good clinical outcome was obtained in all patients with improvement of pre-operative condition except in 3 patients
