Objective: To study the value ofα-fetoprotein (α-FP),β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG), inhibin A, and uncojugated estriol (UE3) at the second trimester for early screening of preeclampsia. Methods: This cohort study was performed on 1713 consecutive pregnant women with gestational age from 15 to 18 weeks. We measured the serum levels ofα-FP, β-hCG, inhibin A, and UE3 and they were followed-up for 48 h after delivery. Results: A total of 1713 women were recruited and through the study 151 women (8.8%) were diagnosed with preeclampsia (n=123, 21.5% in the pregnant women with high risk, n=28, 2.5% in the pregnant women with low risk;Phe area under receiver operating characteristic curve was estimated to be 2.39 MOM forα-FP, 2.84 MOM forβ-hCG, 1.92 MOM for inhibin A, and 0.77 MOM for UE3. The best cutoff value was specifically considered for each marker that was determined a positive predictive value ranged 19.60% forα-FP, 17.62% for β-hCG, 18.33% for inhibin A and 14.88% for UE3, a negative predictive value ranged 95.63% for α-FP, 93.89% for β-hCG, 94.28% for inhibin A and 93.57% for UE3, and an area under receiver operating characteristic curve ranged 0.70 forα-FP, 0.63 forβ-hCG, 0.65 for inhibin A and 0.61 for UE3. Conclusions: This study reveals that the new cutoff values are more valuable in screening preeclampsia. Although these markers have a low positive predictive value, they present a high negative predictive value. Also, the combination ofα-FP,β-hCG and inhibin A and the combination ofα-FP and inhibin A have the highest value in screening preeclampsia.

AIM: The aqueous methanolic extracts of two plants from Algeria, helichrysum stoechas subsp. rupestre and Phagnalon saxatile subsp. saxatile, were investigated for their antioxidant activity. METhOD: Total phenolics, flavonoids, and tannins were determined by spectrophotometric techniques..In vitro antioxidant and radical scavenging profiling was determined by spectrophotometric methods, through: Total antioxidant capacity, and radical scavenging effects by the DPPh and ABTS methods, reducing and chelating power, and blanching inhibition of the β-carotene. RESULTS: All of the extracts showed interesting antioxidant and radical scavenging activity. The highest contents in phenolics, tannins, and the highest total antioxidant capacity as gallic acid equivalents of 97.5 ± 0.33 mg GAE/g DW was obtained for the flowers of h. stoechas subsp. rupestre extract in the phosphomolybdenum assay. An extract of the leafy stems of P. saxatile subsp. saxatile revealed the highest content of flavonoids, and the highest antioxidant activity by the radical scavenging and β-carotene assays when compared with standards. The best activity was by the scavenging radical DPPh with an IC50 value of 5.65 ± 0.10 μg·mL-1. CONCLUSION: The studied medicinal plants could provide scientific evidence for some traditional uses in the treatment of diseases related to the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS) and oxidative stress.

Energy efficiency(EE)is a critical design when taking into account circuit power consumption(CPC)in fifth-generation cellular *** problems arise because of the increasing number of antennas in massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)systems,attributable to inter-cell interference for channel state *** from that,a higher number of radio frequency(RF)chains at the base station and active users consume more power due to the processing activities in digital-to-analogue converters and power ***,antenna selection,user selection,optimal transmission power,and pilot reuse power are important aspects in improving energy efficiency in massive MIMO *** work aims to investigate joint antenna selection,optimal transmit power and joint user selection based on deriving the closed-form of the maximal EE,with complete knowledge of large-scale fading with maximum ratio *** also accounts for channel estimation and eliminating pilot contamination as antennas M→∞.This formulates the optimization problem of joint optimal antenna selection,transmits power allocation and joint user selection to mitigate inter-cellinterference in downlink multi-cell massive MIMO systems under minimized reuse of pilot sequences based on a novel iterative low-complexity algorithm(LCA)for Newton’s methods and Lagrange *** analyze the precise power consumption,a novel power consumption scheme is proposed for each individual antenna,based on the transmit power amplifier and *** results demonstrate that the maximal EE was achieved using the iterative LCA based on reasonable maximum transmit power,in the case the noise power is less than the received power *** maximum EE was achieved with the desired maximum transmit power threshold by minimizing pilot reuse,in the case the transmit power allocationρd=40 dBm,and the optimal EE=71.232 Mb/j.

Exertional heat stroke in a young military trainee:is it preventable?

Lemongrass oleoresin was successfully extracted from lemongrass（Cymbopogon citratus）using Pressurised Liquid *** biological active constituent in lemongrass oleoresin is citral or its isomers;geranial and neral is more than 75%by weight of essential *** was used as marker compound for this *** solubility of geranial increased with the addition β-cyclodextrin until it reached the solubility limit at 7 mM β-cyclodextrin,with no further improvement after *** phase solubility diagram obtained was characterised as *** complex of geranial was prepared by using co-precipitation（CP）and kneading method （KM）.Based on phase solubility study,the stability constant, K1:1,it indicated that molar ratio obtained was 1:1β- cyclodextrin（β-CD）:geranial for *** complexes formed were characterised by using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry（FTIR）and differential scanning calorimeter（DSC）.The shift of C-h stretching to higher wavenumber and the reduction of intensity of band C=O and C-h band indicated the formation of new solid phase;β-CD- lemongrass *** DSC thermogram showed the new solid phase formed using co-precipitation and kneading *** peak intensity of co-precipitation shows the highest compared to *** results obtained from FTIR analysis showed that co-precipitation and kneading methods were able to produce inclusion ***, DSC indicates that co-precipitation method able to produce inclusion ***,co-precipitation was the chosen method for the formation of inclusion complex between lemongrass oleoresin and β-cyclodextrin.

Background: heat stroke is a life-threatening condition with exertional heat stroke occurring frequently among soldiers and athletes. Because of its common occurrence, many military trainees practice preventive measures prior to any activity requiring severe exertion. Although it is said to be common in practice, different presentations of heat stroke are scarcely described in *** Presentation: We describe a case of an exertional heat stroke in a 23-year-old male Sinhalese soldier who developed early changes of renal failure, liver failure and rhabdomyolysis. The patient initially presented with convulsions, delirium and loss of consciousness to an outside health care facility before being transferred to our ***: It is clear that heat stroke does occur in military trainees while preventive strategies are being practiced. It is important for those who provide healthcare to soldiers to provide proper advice on how to identify impending heat stroke prior to any exercises resulting in severe physical exertion. Further, treating physicians should educate all military trainees about preventive strategies.

聚氨酯是一种聚合物树脂材料,将聚氨酯胶粘剂与沙子混合而制成的聚氨酯砂浆作为修补材料受到越来越多的关注。在这项研究中,通过测试聚氨酯砂浆和聚氨酯橡胶混合砂浆(聚氨酯与沙子和橡胶颗粒混合)的抗压、抗折强度,以此来评估橡胶颗粒对其材料性能的影响。同时以聚氨酯砂浆和聚氨酯橡胶混合砂浆作为粘结材料,进行了水泥砂浆界面粘结试验以及界面拉伸强度试验。本研究使用的材料设计如下。聚氨酯胶粘剂由A和B两种组分组成。A组分(多元醇)是一种含有羟基的化合物,B组分(MDI)是含有游离异氰酸酯基的化合物。试验变量分别选择A:B为5:1和6:1的两种比例,橡胶颗粒的粒径采用16目和60目这两种尺寸,以0,5%,10%,15%的比率等体积取代砂来形成试验配合比。此外,还制作了混合比为1:3:0.5的普通水泥砂浆。论文中的试验包括了54个配合比,共计420件试件。主要研究成果如下:1)聚氨酯砂浆在3h时的抗折强度平均在5MPa,抗压强度在11MPa左右。这表明聚氨酯砂浆可用作修补材料。与聚氨酯砂浆相同,聚氨酯橡胶混合砂浆的抗压强度和抗折强度在3h和6h时都有小幅下降,而养护龄期在24h时则略有增加,且测得掺入橡胶粒径为16目时试件的强度大于掺入60目橡胶颗粒的试件强度。同时,当聚氨酯胶粘剂中A和B组分的比例为6:1时,聚氨酯橡胶混合砂浆在3h,6h,1d,3d和7d的抗压强度和抗折强度均高于A和B组分的比例为5:1的情况。2)对组合粘结试件,当养护龄期为7d时,不含橡胶颗粒的聚氨酯试件(PU比为6:1,PC2-0)在7d最高强度为12 MPa;但是,随着橡胶含量的增加和橡胶粒径的减小,界面粘结强度不断降低。比较了由两种不同比例的A和B组分制成的聚氨酯粘结砂浆,以6:1的比例制备的测试件的结合强度更大。3)拉伸粘结强度试验的结果表明,粘结强度优选与非橡胶的空白聚氨酯砂浆样品相比;随着橡胶颗粒含量的增加,试验片的粘结破坏负荷与聚氨酯橡胶混合砂浆样品中的60目颗粒尺寸相比,16目橡胶颗粒的粘结强度降低的结果更大。在该测试中,样品PC2b-2的最高拉伸粘合试验为1.411 MPa。当PU的比例为6:1时,橡胶含量为5%和10%,粒径为60目时,仍显示出较高的粘合强度,可以满足维修项目的要求。论文创新包括首次把橡胶颗粒掺入聚氨酯砂浆试件,并测试了其拉伸粘结强度。聚氨酯混合砂浆与普通水泥砂浆组合试件的界面粘结强度试验结果也是首次报告。

Objective:To determine lethal median dose(LD_(50)) and histopalhological toxicity of water extract of hololhuria atra(h,atra) in ***:The behavioral changes,mortality and histopathology examination on liver were assessed in mice 14 d after the administration(i.p.) of *** water *** doses 110,20,30,50.100.150 and 200 mg/kg) of *** were *** control group was treated with normal saline,Results:In the acute study in mice,the water extracts of h,atra caused dose-dependent general behavior adverse affects and *** main behavioral sign of toxicity was hypoactivity,noticed immediately after administration of the extract which was more obvious at the higher doses and persisted until *** increased with increasing doses,the calculated LD_(50)was 41 mg/kg in *** liver toxicity was confirmed by histopalhological examination,which indicated the presence of abnormal hepatocytes with a distorted shape and undefined cell lining as well as enlarged nuclei in low doses *** doses groups indicated a more prominent distortion of the polyhedral hepatocytes with undefined cell lining,massive cytoplasm,*** and karyolytie nuclei(necrosis of hepatocytes).Control group showed polyhedral hepatocytes with defined cell lining arranged in cords and normal round nuclei,with granular ***:Because of the relatively low LD_(50) value in the acute study in mice,it may be concluded that the *** water extract is toxic.
