Objective： This retrospective study was designed to evaluate ciinico-pathological data including stage, results of treatment, and prognostic factors which affect the overall survival ＆ disease free survival. Methods： This was a retrospective study carried out at the Radiotherapy Department, National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, Egypt on 1009 patients treated for primary breast cancer between 1999-2003. Results： The median follow-up was 68 months. Loco regional relapse occurred in 23 patients （2.3%） and distant relapse occurred in 203 patients （20.1%）. Both Ioco regional and distant relapse were reported in 32 patients （3.2%）. The disease free survival （DFS） at 3 and 5 years were 87% and 78% respectively, while OAS at 3 and 5 years were 96.4% and 91.4% respectively. Multivariate analysis of different prognostic factors showed that the independent bad prognostic factors in the study for disease relapse were positive lymph nodes （LNs, more than 10）, tumor size T3, T4 with significance of 0.0001 for each, and pathologic grade with significance of 0.003. Conclusion： The most important independent bad prognostic factors for relapse are positive LNs more than 10, tumor size T3, T4 and pathologic grade. The timing of radiotherapy affects the disease free survival significantly also it is recommended to analyze the group of patients with LNs negative using well designed randomized trials.

Growth and biochemical responses of the coenobial green alga Scenedesmus obliquus to salinity stress were monitored across different phases of *** alga was cultured on BG11 growth medium and subjected to 0,30,100,and 200 mmol/L NaCl for a period of 20 d,during which algal cultures were harvested at 4-d *** salinity-induced inhibition of algal growth was accompanied with prolongation of timing of the different growth *** sharp and progressive salinity-induced inhibition of algal growth rate during the early phase of growth points to salt shock but moderation of inhibition at the subsequent stages of growth means algal acclimation to *** concentrations of chlorophylls a and b,soluble sugars,proteins as well as those of K+and Na+in the alga exhibited peaks at the initiation of the exponential phase of growth,with increasing magnitude in proportion to the increase in the level of ***,whereas soluble sugars of the alga peaked at initiation of the exponential phase,starch concentration progressively increased with culture age,reaching saturation towards the stationary *** the salinity-induced increase in soluble sugars was most evident at the early stages of growth the reverse was true for *** present results point to fast acclimation of *** to salt stress post a brief salt shock,utilizing soluble sugars,K+and Na+for osmotic *** salinity from 0 to 200 mmol/L NaCl led to progressive increase in soluble sugars,proteins,K+and Na+concentrations of the algal cells,particularly at the early stages of ***,the salinity-induced increase in chlorophyll concentration approached a limit at 100 mmol/L NaCl whereas that in starch concentration was more evident at the later stages of growth.

This paper focuses on the design of the cross layer between the video application layer and the MIMO physical layer. MIMO physical layer research has promised an enormous increase in the capacity of wireless communication systems. Also MIMO wireless systems operate under fading conditions where the channel faces arbitrary fluctuations. Since the wireless channel changes over each coherence period, the capacity of the wireless channel, given the power constraints, changes. Hence to make efficient use of the available capacity one needs to adapt the video bit rate. However it is impossible to adapt at the application layer as changing the parameters of the video takes more time than the coherence period of the channel. In this paper we address this problem through a novel solution and also investigate its performance through a simulation study.

Objective:To evaluate the in vitro antischistosomal activity of two new synthetic benzimidazole-related compounds:NBTP-OH and ***:Schistosoma adult worms were recovered from mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni cercaria,washed and then incubated in the culture media with different concentrations of compounds NBTP-OH and NBTP-F up to 72 *** electron microscopy was conducted to report morphological ***:Incubation of adult Schistosoma mansoni with 10 μg/mL of NBTP-OH for 48 h killed 81.25% of *** calculated LC50and LC90 72 h post-incubation were 6.8 μg/mL and 9.8 μg/mL,*** of worms to 10 μg/mL of NBTP-F killed89.5% of worms after 48 h,mostly males(83.3%),the LC50 and LC90 after 72 h of incubation were 4.8 μg/mL and 6.9 μg/mL,*** incubated for 72 h with these compounds revealed swelling and deformity of oral sucker,disorganization and erosion of the tegument when examined with scanning electron ***:NBTP-OH and NBTP-F possess in vitro antischistosomal activities;however,in vivo studies should be conducted to examine their antischistosomal effects..

Objective:To maintain semen quality of male rabbits during chilled storage by enrichment the tris based diluent with different concentrations of propolis ethanolic ***: Total phenolic and total flavonoid contents, as well as antioxidant activity was determined in propolis ethanolic extract (PEE). The extract was analysed by HPLC for separation and identification of target metabolites. Semen was collected from 10 rabbit bucks, pooled, then divided into five aliquots (each of 500 μL) and diluted each in 5 mL Tris-citric acid-glucose-egg yolk extender (TCGY). The 1st aliquot served as control while PEE was added at concentration of 0.8, 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 mg/5 mL tris extender in the aliquot 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Diluted semen samples were subjected to cooling at 4℃ for 72 h. Sperm motility, sperm viability, sperm abnormality, sperm membrane integrity and acrosome integrity were evaluated in chilled semen allover the chilling ***:The resluts revealed presence of a considerable amount of total phenolic compounds (98.67 mg GAE/g extract) and total flavonoids (70.16 mg CE/g extract) which were parallel to an antioxidant activity assessed as ABTS, DPPH and FRAP (198.65, 180.18 and 306.17 mM TE/g extract respectively). The dominant phenolic acid was chlorogenic acids (3.959 mg/g extract). Other compounds were found in less amounts rosmarinic acid (3.959 mg/g extract), myrcetin (1.946 mg/g extract), kaempferol (1.089 mg/g extract) and apeginin-7-glucoside (1.113 mg/g extract). Obtained results clearly demonstrated that the addition of (1.2-1.6) mg PEE in the chilled extended rabbit semen proved to be beneficial for maintaining semen characteristics compared to control and the addition of 0.8 and 2 mg ***: The enrichment of rabbit semen tris-basic extender with (1.2-1.6) mg PEE/5 mL tris-extender (as the best and safe concentrations) maintain the sperm characteristics in good condition all over 72 h of chilling.

Titanium alloys are extensively used in power, chemical and petroleum industries as constructional materials for vessels and heat transfer tubes. Moreover they are candidate materials for nuclear waste disposal. These alloys have superior resistance to localized forms of corrosion compared to stainless steels and Ni-base alloys. However, this resistance is not as remarkable in crevice corrosion conditions in some aggressive media. electrochemical corrosion tests were conducted on two ASTM Ti grades namely, Ti-2 and Ti-12 in extremely low pH acidic environment. Results indicated that Ti-2 has less resistance to both general and crevice corrosion attack than Ti-12. Both alloys possess better resistance to general corrosion than to crevice corrosion. Also, results showed that the molybdate addition improves remarkably the resistance of Ti-2 to both types of attack. The increase of molybdate ions concentration from 0.03 mol/L to 0.15 mol/L made Ti-2 to be as resistant as, or somewhat higher than, Ti-12. The elecrochemical findings were further supplemented by optical examination of the corroded surface.

Biodegradable elastomers are important emerging biomaterials for biomedical applications,particularly in the area of soft-tissue engineering in which scaffolds need to match the physicochemical properties of native ***,we report novel fast photocurable elastomers with readily tunable mechanical properties,surface wettability,and *** elastomers are prepared by a 5-min UV-irradiation of thiol-ene reaction systems of glycerol tripentenoate(GTP;a triene)or the combination of GTP and 4-pentenyl 4-pentenoate(PP;a diene)with a carefully chosen series of di-or *** the subsequent application study,these elastomers were found to be capable of overcoming delamination of myotubes,a technical bottleneck limiting the in vitro growth of mature functional *** glycerol-based elastomers supported the proliferation of mouse and human myoblasts,as well as myogenic differentiation into contractile *** notably,while beating mouse myotubes detached from conventional tissue culture plates,they remain adherent on the elastomer *** results suggest that these elastomers as novel biomaterials may provide a promising platform for engineering functional soft tissues with potential applications in regenerative medicine or pharmacological testing.

Lactobacilli belong to the group of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), that have several distinguished abilities such as production of lactic acid, enzymes such as β-Galactosidase and natural antimicrobial substances called bacteriocins. Bacteriocin is a biopreservative agent potential of suppressing growth of some contaminant bacteria in food industry but its commercial availability is limited and costly. The study aimed to select isolates of Lactobacillus spp. potential for producing bacteriocins to suppress the growth of Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Bacillus subtilis NCIB3610, and to optimize the process of bacteriocin production. Results obtained in this study showed that L. acidophilus isolate CH1 was selected as the best candidate for bacteriocin among the four isolates that tested. The largest amounts of the bacteriocins were synthesized only in MRS medium was supplemented with K2HPO4 (1.0%), Tween 80 (1%), Beef extract (1%), glucose, cyctein and peptone extract (1%). The optimization of culture conditions for bacteriocin production areas showed that corn steep liquor medium was the best medium for all isolates against Bacillus subtilis while no effect was observed on Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 except when used MRS medium. The optimum conditions for bacteriocin production were pH 6.0, temperature 34?C with 4% Phenyl acetamide showing the greatest growth inhibition areas.
