Evaluation of Some Promising Soybean Genotypes to Infestation with Cotton Leafworm (Spodoptera littoralis) under Field Conditions

A two-year study was carried out in Giza Agricultural Experiments and Research Station, Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Giza, Egypt in the 2020 and 2021 summer seasons to evaluate the relative tolerance of ten soybean genotypes for cotton leafworm infestation under field conditions. Soybean genotypes H11L145, H155, H113, H4L4, H15L17, H129, H30, H19L96, Giza 111, and Crawford were distributed in randomized complete blocks design with three replications. Soybean genotypes differed significantly for cotton leafworm at the 6th, 7th, and 8th week from sowing. Low values of cotton leafworm assemblages were recorded for H113, H4L4, H15L17, Giza 111, and H129. Low percentages of the larval survival number and weight, as well as the number of the survival of pupa were recorded by feeding on leaves of genotypes H4F4, H15L17, and Giza 111 under laboratory conditions. There were significant differences among the studied genotypes in most yield attributes in both seasons. Soybean genotypes H15L17, Giza 111, H113, H129, H19L96, and H4L4 gave higher seed yield per ha, meanwhile soybean genotypes H155, H19L96, H30, Giza 111, and H15L17 had higher seed oil content than the other genotypes in both seasons. The number and weight of larvae surviving, as well as the number of pupa survival, were negatively correlated with leaf total phenols and seed oil content. Comparison between Forceps, Single Blade Forceps and Manual Extraction of Fetal Head in Elective Caesarean Section: A Randomized Control Trial—Forceps Delivery in Cesarean Section

Objective: The fundal pressure exerted by the assistant to deliver fetal head is often painful to the patient. This study assesses the use of double blade forceps in delivery of fetal head at time of elective Cesarean Section (CS). Methods: A prospective single-blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted among 150 women with repeat elective CS at Ain Shams university hospital, Air Force Specialized hospital and October 6th university hospital. Women were classified into 3 groups (each 50 women). Forceps group: A double blade of forceps was used without fundal pressure. Single blade group: single blade of forceps was used assisted by fundal pressure. Manual group: manual extraction was used assisted by fundal pressure. The outcome of study were;Pain expectation score , pain score during delivery of head, unintended uterine extension, uterine vessels injury and need for additional stitches. The collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS version 20. Results: High Statistically significant difference in pain score during delivery of head in favor of forceps group (P = 0.001). No differences were found among 3 groups as regarding pain expectation, uterine extension, uterine vessel injury and in need of haemostatic stitches (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Use of double blade forceps is less painful for the patients during delivery of head in CS.

Bach-Einstein Gravitational Field Equations as a Perturbation of Einstein Gravitational Field Equations

The Bach equations are a version of higher-order gravitational field equations, exactly they are of fourth-order. In 4-dimensions the Bach-Einstein gravitational field equations are treated here as a perturbation of Einstein’s gravity. An approximate inversion formula is derived which admits a comparison of the two field theories. An application to these theories is given where the gravitational Lagrangian is expressed linearly in terms of R, R2, |Ric|2, where the Ricci tensor Ric = Rαβdxαdxβ is inserted in some formulas which are of geometrical or physical importance, such as;Raychaudhuri equation and Tolman’s formula.

Geomorphological monitoring of a highly dynamic estuary using oblique aerial photographs

Formation of Trihalomethanes during Seawater Chlorination

The use of seawater for industrial cooling is a vital technology that poses some of the most profound environmental impact on the water quality in the Arabian Gulf. Biocide (chlorine) is added to the seawater to control biofouling of the cooling system. This added chlorine reacts with bromide and other chemicals naturally exist in the water to form a wide range of oxidants. Regrettably, reactions between the residual oxidants and natural organic matter in the water lead to formation of toxic halogenated organic compounds that have detrimental effects on the environment when they are discharged into the Gulf. This paper describes the formation of trihalomethanes (THMs) in seawater cooling systems. Results of kinetic experiments have shown that concentrations of THMs increased rapidly with time during the first half hour. Chlorination of seawater has shown significant increase in total THMs (TTHMs) and in bromoform concentrations. Rapid decrease of UV absorbance at 254 nm was also observed during seawater chlorination which is indicative of natural organic matter degradation into small organic molecules including THMs and other by-products. The increase in chlorine dose was accompanied with an increase in TTHMs and bromoform concentrations. Linear relationships between total chlorine concentration and both final TTHMs and bromoform concentrations were established. First order exponential decay and exponential associate functions were developed to correlate chlorine dose with formed THMs.

Competitiveness and Profitability of Intercropping Sunflower with Peanut under Different Irrigation Water Levels and Potassium Fertilizer Rates

A two-year study was carried out at Ismailia Agricultural Research Station, Egypt during 2016 and 2017 summer seasons to evaluate competitive effects of intercropping sunflower and peanut under different drip irrigation water amounts and K fertilizer rates for increasing farmer profitability. Three irrigation amounts (70%, 100% and 120% ETo), three K fertilizer levels (57, 86 and 114 K2O kg/ha) and four intercropping patterns of sunflower and peanut (different spatial arrangements) were implemented. The experimental design was strip split plot with three replications. The results showed that there were no significant differences between 100% and 120% ETo on most of yield traits of the intercrops. The highest K fertilizer level had the highest values of most yield traits of the intercrops. The highest values of peanut and sunflower traits were obtained from intercropping sunflower with peanut, where peanut seeds were sown on both sides of all the raised beds, sunflower seeds were sown on one row above the raised beds and the following bed was left without intercropping (P1). Thus, to attain the highest yield of intercrops and water equivalent ratio (WER), the lowest competitive pressure and the highest farmer profitability, 120% ETo, 114 K2O kg/ha and P1 intercropping pattern should be implemented. This research found that the result of competitiveness was consistent with the result of profitability.

Early microbial recognition by the innate immune system is accomplished by Toll-like receptors(TLRs),with resultant initiation of a pro-inflammatory response against infecting *** spite of presence of an abundance of Toll-like receptors on the surface of the liver,gut bacteria does not elicit an inflammatory reaction in healthy individuals due to tolerance to these TLRs,suggesting that the inflammatory responses seen in the liver are the result of breakdown of this *** orthotopic liver transplantation is often life saving in many instances,death following this procedure is most commonly due to infection that occurs in up to 80%of transplant recipients,most commonly due to microbial causes in up to 70%of cases and viral infections in 20%,while fungal infections affect only 8%of *** probability of acquiring infection following hepatic transplantation is heightened due to affection of the innate immune defense mechanisms of the host following this *** nucleotide polymorphisms of TLRs have been associated with increased likelihood of either development of post-transplant infection or eradication of infecting ***,conflicting reports from other studies reveal that prevalence of this single nucleotide polymorphism is not increased in infected patients.

Performance comparison of zero-Schottky-barrier and doped contacts carbon nanotube transistors with strain applied

Atomistic quantum simulation is performed to compare the performance of zero-Schottky-barrier and doped source-drain contacts carbon nanotube field effect transistors(CNTFETs) with strain applied. The doped source-drain contact CNTFETs outperform the Schottky contact devices with and without strain applied. The off-state current in both types of contact is similar with and without strain applied. This is because both types of contact offer very similar potential barrier in off-state. However, the on-state current in doped contact devices is much higher due to better modulation of on-state potential profile, and its variation with strain is sensitive to the device contact type. The on/off current ratio and the inverse subthreshold slope are better with doped source-drain contact, and their variations with strain are relatively less sensitive to the device contact type. The channel transconductance and device switching performance are much better with doped source-drain contact, and their variations with strain are sensitive to device contact type.

The impulse response method is a frequently used method to calculate ship seakeeping *** this paper,the restoring and Froude-Krylov calculation is conducted with constant evaluation of panel pressures as well as Gauss quadrature and an analytical *** applied panel grid is coarsened by an adaptive algorithm which is based on a normal vector *** comparison of methods is based on grid convergence studies which are followed by a verification of forces with computational fluid dynamics(CFD)results on the fixed duisburg test case in *** with experimental results in head,oblique and following waves show that all integration methods are *** exact integration is numerically sensitive in some *** quadrature is highly accurate;however,the additional effort is not beneficial since the geometrical accuracy has-stronger influence on the force amplitudes than the integration *** grid coarsening reduces the simulation time and is accurate up to a level,where the panel length comes close the *** added resistance at the investigated Froude number of 0.05 shows higher uncertainty levels,this applies to the results of both the numerical methods and model tests.
