Pancreatic head vs pancreatic body/tail cancer:Are they different?

BACKGROUND The impact of pancreatic tumor location on patient survival has been studied in large national data-based analyses which yielded controversial *** To explore if pancreatic head cancer(PHC)and pancreatic body/tail cancer(PBTC)have different overall survival(OS),molecular signature and response to *** We retrospectively queried patient records from July 2016 to June 2020 in our *** demographics,cancer stage on diagnosis,tumor location,somatic mutations,treatment,and survival are recorded and analyzed.A test is considered statistically significant if the P value was<*** We reviewed 101 patients with complete records,among which 67(66.34%)were PHC and 34(33.66%)were *** PHC were diagnosed at younger age[61.49 vs 68.97,P=0.010],earlier stages(P=0.006)and underwent surgical resection(P=0.025).There were no significant differences among all mutations and pathways studied except for TP53 mutations(37.0%in PHC vs 70.0%in PBTC,P=0.03).OS was not statistically different between PHC and PBTC(P=0.636)in the overall population and in subgroups according to surgical resection status or *** terms of response to chemotherapy,chemotherapy regimens(FOLFIRINOX-based vs gemcitabine-based)didn’t impact disease free interval in those who had surgical resection in either PHC(P=0.546)or PBTC(P=0.654),or the duration of response to first line palliative treatment in those with advanced disease in PHC(P=0.915)or PBTC(P=0.524).CONCLUSION Even though PHC and PBTC have similar poor OS and response to chemotherapy,the different presentations and molecular profiles indicate they are different *** of molecular profiling to develop targeted therapy for individualization of treatment is needed.

Single Wall Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs) as (i) Type in the Photovoltaic Cell of Nano-Dimensions

In this paper, a new modified approach to design the photovoltaic cell has been presented by adding Single Wall Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs) as type (i). The main issue is to increase the efficiency of the photovoltaic cell, on the other hand, to exploit a larger range of electromagnetic wave frequencies, specifically a range within terahertz (THz) frequency domain, using 3D EM computer simulation technology (CST). It is clear in the normal PV cell start working at frequency of 500 THz, while the frequency at which the PV cell with SWCNTs operates is much less and it is close to zero, on the other hand, the PV cell with SWCNTs needs a larger cross-section area of 2800 nm2 to operate at frequency of 500 THz. This cell can be easily produced industrially, which means increases the efficiency of solar cell.

A novel oil-in-water drilling mud formulated with extracts from Indian mango seed oil

Characterization and comparison of general esterases from two field populations of the oriental migratory locust, Locusta migratoria manilensis （ Meyen ）（ Orthoptera： Acrididae） from Shanxi Province

General esterases in two field populations of the oriental migratory locust, Locusta migratoria rnanilensis (Meyen),respectively from Yongji and Linyi, Shanxi Province, were characterized and compared. No distinct difference was detected in banding patterns of general esterases between the two populations, when α-naphthyl acetate was used as substrate in nondenaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) . Nevertheless, the general esterase activities in the Yongji population were 1.81- and 1.20-fold higher, respectively, than those of the Linyi population when α-naphthyl acetate and α-naphthyl butyrate were used as substrates. Increased esterase activity in the Yongji population might be correlated to several additional esterase bands detected with non-denaturing PAGE. Inhibition studies showed that 84.94% and 91.47% of esterases were Btype in Yongji and Linyi population, respectively. The Linyi population appeared to be more susceptible to malaoxon than the Yongji population. We estimated that such differences might be attributed to the different control practices for locusts in the two areas.

Face Adaptation in Orthodontics

Bilateral Controversy in orthodontic science is widely present in different patterns;one of the most common is the debate between early versus late orthodontic treatment. This paper is going to demonstrate two clinical cases of class III malocclusion which are treated orthodontically, one in early mixed dentition and the other in permanent dentition. The face is highly capable to adapt to the changes achieved by orthodontics provided the earlier treatment begins, the more the face adapts to our standards;the later treatment begins, the more our standards have to adapt to the face.

Comparative Study of Malathion Toxicity and General Esterases in Larvae and Adults from a Field Population of Oxya chinensis (Thunberg) (Orthoptera: Acridoidea)

The susceptibility of Oxya chinensis to malathion was compared in larvae and adults from a field population, collected from Jinyuan outskirt, Shanxi Province. The results showed that Oxya chinensis was more susceptible to malathion in the adult stage than in the larval stage. The LD50 values for malathion susceptibility of Oxya chinensis were 4.94 and 2.44 mg g-1 body weight in the larvae and adults respectively. The results indicated that the larvae were 2.02-fold less susceptible to malathion than the adults. The general esterases and the kinetics were characterized and compared between the two life stages and between females and males. Larval preparations of Oxya chinensis were more active than adult preparations in females and males. The larvae showed 1.18-, 1.49-, and 1.17- fold higher specific activities than the adults in females with α-NA, α-NB and β-NA respectively. In males, the ratios were 1.34-, 1.70-, and 1.06-fold. Female preparations were more active than those of males in the adults. The reverse results were observed in the larvae where male preparations were more active than female preparations. Kinetic studies showed that Km values of general esterases hydrolyzing α-NA, α-NB, and β-NA in the adult stage were 1.36-, 1.32- and 1.39-fold respectively, higher than those in the larval stage in females. In males, the ratios were 1.24-, 2.14-, and 1.20-fold. The esterase from male insects had a higher affinity (lower Km value) to the substrate than those from females. The results also showed that the Vmax values of general esterase hydrolyzing α-NA, α-NB, and β-NA in the two stages were similar. From the results of bioassays and biochemical analyses, it has been inferred that a higher level of resistance to malathion in larvae than in adults would appear to result from differences in the expression of resistance mechanisms in these two life stages. Stainless steel double loop appliance to correct ectopically positioned maxillary permanent first molar

Ectopic eruption is the abnormal eruption of a permanent tooth that often causes root resorption of an adjacent primary tooth which can be noted during routine dental radiographic evaluation. The mesial eruption of the permanent first molar may be a local eruption problem or may indicate developmental arch circumference deficiency requiring further consideration. Early treatment is mandatory to move the ectopically erupting tooth away from the tooth it is resorbing to allow the tooth to erupt into its normal position, maintaining a normal arch circumference. Although much has been written about ectopic eruption of the maxillary first permanent molar, no case report mentions correction of ectopically erupted maxillary permanent first molar by using double loop stainless steel.
