Calibrating HCM model for roundabout entry capacity under heterogeneous traffic

Roundabout is a channelized intersection where traffic moves around a central island,clockwise for leftside driving and anti-clockwise for right-side *** designed roundabouts can handle traffic very smoothly without causing any *** capacity of roundabouts used to be calculated by the weaving theory in ***,calculation of the entry capacity in the recent literature is based on critical gaps and follow-up times,and the Highway Capacity Manual of US(HCM2010)provides an equation to estimate the entry capacity of a roundabout by using the flow in passenger car unit per hour(PCU/h),critical gaps and follow-up times at the entry *** order to examine whether the HCM equation applies to Indian traffic condition or not,we collected data from five roundabouts in India in this *** data were extracted/estimated to calibrate parameters of the HCM *** PCU for a vehicle was estimated on the basis of lagging headway and width of the vehicle,and the critical gap value for a vehicle was estimated by minimizing the sum of absolute difference in a gap with respect to the highest rejected and accepted *** show that the critical gap values obtained under heterogeneous traffic conditions are much lower than those given in the literature for homogeneous traffic *** addition,the modified HCM equation based on the critical gap values was verified using the field data taken during the formation of a continuous and stable queue at the entry of a *** was found that a multiplicative adjustment factor needs to be calculated for different sizes of roundabouts to ensure the adjusted HCM equation represents well the traffic condition prevailing in developing countries like India.A test conducted at another roundabout validated that the entry capacity estimated from the calibrated and adjusted HCM model was consistent with the field entry capacity,and the calibrated and adjusted HCM model could predict the entry cap

Members of the Pathogenesis Related(PR)10 protein family have been identified in a variety of plant species and a wide range of functions ranging from defense to growth and development has been attributed to ***10 protein possesses ribonuclease(RNase)activity,interacts with phytohormones,involved in hormone-mediated signalling,afforded protection against various phytopathogenic fungi,bacteria,and viruses particularly in response to biotic and abiotic *** resistance mechanism of PR10 protein may include activation of defense signalling pathways through possible interacting proteins involved in mediating responses to pathogens,degradation of RNA of the invading ***,several morphological changes have been shown to accompany the enhanced abiotic stress *** this review,the possible mechanism of action of PR10 protein against biotic and abiotic stress has been ***,our findings also confirmed that the in vivo Nitric oxide(NO)is essential for most of environmental abiotic stresses and disease resistance against pathogen *** proper level of NO may be necessary and beneficial,not only in plant response to the environmental abiotic stress,but also to biotic *** updated information on this interesting group of proteins will be useful in future research to develop multiple stress tolerance in plants.

Background Consultation liaison psychiatry(CLP)as a subspecialty is defined as the area of clinical psychiatry that encompasses clinical understanding,teaching and research activities of psychiatrists and allied health professionals in the non-psychiatric divisions of a general *** comorbidity of inpatients in tertiary care hospitals is ***,the amount of research in India in the field of consultation liaison is strikingly *** To investigate the sociodemographic profile and psychiatric and physical subtypes of illness in patients admitted in other departments and referred to psychiatry *** The study population comprised all consecutive inpatients referred for psychiatric consultation from other departments of a multispecialty tertiary care teaching hospital over 3 *** a semistructured proforma,sociodemographic profile,referring departments,reasons for referral,referral rate,psychiatric diagnosis and physical illness diagnosis were recorded and analysed using descriptive *** 172 patients were included and assessed after referral from various departments,of which 56.4%were male and 43.6%were *** mean age was about 33.95 years,with majority of the patients in the 21-30 years age *** referral rate was 1.1%.The maximum referrals were from the medicine department,with abnormal behaviour(26.2%)being the most common reason for referral,followed by alleged suicide attempt or self-harm(24.4%),anxiety(10.5%),substance use(10%)and disorientation(7.6%).The most common psychiatric disorder among patients was depressive disorder(24.4%),followed by substance use disorder(19.7%),schizophrenia and psychotic disorder(9.3%),and stress and trauma-related disorder(8.1%).Conclusion There are very few psychiatry referrals and an alarmingly low referral rate,given the psychiatric morbidities in the medical *** training should have more weightage across different medical specialties and liaison activ

The quantitative analysis of glutathione （GSH） is important in different fields like medicine, biology, and biotechnology. Accurate quantitative measurements of this analyte have been hampered by the lack of well characterized reference standards. The proposed procedure is intended to provide an accurate and definitive method for the quantitation of GSH for reference measurements. Measurement of the stoichiometrically existing sulfur content in purified GSH offers an approach for its quantitation and calibration through an appropriate characterized reference material （CRM） for sulfur would provide a methodology for the certification of GSH quantity, that is traceable to SI （International system of units）. The inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry （ICP-OES） approach negates the need for any sample digestion. The sulfur content of the purified GSH is quantitatively converted into sulfate ions by microwave-assisted UV digestion in the presence of hydrogen peroxide prior to ion chromatography （IC） measurements. The measurement of sulfur by ICP-OES and IC （as sulfate） using the ＂high performance＂ methodology could be useful for characterizing primary calibration standards and certified reference materials with low uncertainties. The relative expanded uncertainties （% U） expressed at 95% confidence interval for ICP-OES analyses varied from 0.1% to 0.3%, while in the case of IC, they were between 0.2% and 1.2%. The described methods are more suitable for characterizing primary calibration standards and certifying reference materials of GSH, than for routine measurements.

Self-mutilation is often associated with psychiatric *** describe here a 22-year-old male Indian with decreased sleep,aggressive behaviour,self-muttering,disorganised behaviour,frequent spitting,biting and selfmutilation;he bit off his right ring finger and left thumb(Van Gogh syndrome).Self-harm behaviour was frequently evidenced by family members resulting in various *** patient was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and was treated with anti-psychotics which resulted in a decrease in his behavioural disturbances along with treatment for his self-mutilation *** we discuss Van Gogh syndrome’s presentation of self-mutilation in paranoid schizophrenia and its implications.
