rong>Introductionrong> In Central-African republic, according to UNAIDS in 2019, out of approximately 100,000 people living with HIV, 70% (72,000) knew their HIV status and 47,000 (46%) were on ArV therapy;however, there is a paucity of data on viral load suppression in people on ArV therapy. The objective of this study was to assess the third 90 of the UNAIDS strategy for the years 2019 and 2020 in the CAr. rong>Methodsrong> We analyzed the available viral load data extracted from the data base of the medical analysis laboratory (SYSLAM) of the Institut Pasteur of Bangui for the years 2019 and 2020. The viral loads were determined based on plasma collected in an EDTA tube with Cepheid’s GeneXpert® 16-module controllers. Viral load data were extracted from SYSLAM, converted to Excel format, and analyzed with STATA version 14 software. The significance threshold for the statistical tests was set at 5%. rong>resultsrong> This study included 22,895 patients, of who 72% were female. The average age was 40.82 years, and the majority of the patients (80%) came from the city of Bangui. regarding the virological parameters associated with this study, 66% of the patients had significant viral load suppression according to the WHO recommendations and 34% were in virological failure. Patients over 50 years of age (71.85%) and age group 40 - 49 years (69.25%) recorded significant levels of viral load suppression. On the other hand, 63.45% of patients under 18 years of age had virological failure. All of these results were statistically significant (p rong>Conclusionrong> There should be a concerted effort, to make viral load accessible and available to all patients receiving ArV treatment in the CAr and the management of HIV/AIDS infection of children and adolescents should be given special attention.

rong>Introduction:rong> Malaria management has been a source of concern for health systems since the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic. Objective: To assess the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on severe childhood malaria in Brazzaville. Material and Method: A quasi-experimental intervention/non-intervention study was carried out between March and October 2020 in the pediatric departments of the Brazzaville University Hospital. Children aged three months to 15 years hospitalized were the target population. Two groups were formed: the “intervention” group, that of children hospitalized between March and October 2020 and the “control” group that of those hospitalized between January and August 2015. The study variables were epidemiological, clinical, biological and therapeutic. Chi-square and T-Student tests were used. The impact of the intervention was assessed by the absolute risk difference. Results: Of 1392 children hospitalized, 199 (14.6%) had severe malaria with an average age of 6.94 years. Clinical Factors Influencing the Neurological recovery of Patients Operated for a Cervical Myelopathy at the Teaching Hospital of Bouake

Introduction: Cervical myelopathy is the most common myelopathy among people over 50 of age. Cervicosteoarthritis is the main etiology. The purpose of this work was to identify clinical factors that may influence neurological recovery in patients undergoing surgery for cervical myelopathy in our work setting. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective analytical study on patients operated on for cervical myelopathy at the teaching hospital of Bouake. The logistic regression model was used to identify the factors influencing post-operative neurological recovery. results: 50 patients’ records have been enrolled in this study. The mean age of our patients was 53 years with extremes ranging from 25 to 78 years and 39 of our patients (62%) were male. The mean modified pre-operative JOA score was 11.62 versus 12.94 after the surgery. Age, sex, the number of levels operated on and the duration of the evolution of the signs showed no significant link with neurological recovery. Preoperative mild myelopathy (P = 0.0491) and post-operative functional rehabilitation (P = 0.0459) were identified as factors favouring neurological recovery after cervical myelopathy surgery. Conclusion: The good conducts of functional rehabilitation sessions as well as a mild myelopathy were the factors favouring neurological recovery.

Optimum Threshold Estimation of Thorax CT Scan for COVID-19 Diagnosis in a Single Center in Cameroon

Objective: To evaluate the lung CT scan as a possible predictive diagnostic method for COVID-19 in the Cameroonian context. Methods: We designed a cross sectional study. Suspected cases of COVID-19 during the first wave at the national social insurance fund (NSIF) hospital were screened with both COVID-19 with lung CT scan and a PCr test. Univariate analysis was performed for sample description and multivariate analysis to assess the correlation between positive results for the PCr and other parameters. We estimated the optimum threshold of sensitivity/specificity, and area under curve using the empirical method and package. results: A total of 62 suspected COVID-19 cases were recorded, predominantly males (Sex ratio = 2.2) with a median age of 58.5 (IQr = 19.7). Among our 62 patients, 29 (46.8%) were confirmed COVID-19 cases with positive PCr results. All the patients had a thorax CT scan with a median impairment of 40% (IQr = 20%). The optimum threshold estimate for CT scan for COVID-19 infection diagnosis was 60% (95% CI = 25% - 80%). Overall, the sensitivity and specificity estimates were 0.30 (95% CI = 0.15 - 0.49) and 0.87 (95% CI = 0.70 - 0.96), respectively, leading to an Area Under Curve (AUC) estimate of 0.59 (95% CI = 0.46, 0.71). Conclusion: In this setting, lung CT scan was neither sensitive nor specific to predict COVID-19 disease.

植物基因工程是农业科技革命的关键技术,发展高效、安全的遗传转化技术是基因工程和遗传育种等领域的研究热点之一。传统的遗传转化技术(农杆菌转化法和基因枪法)存在物种受限、基因整合、组织损伤及效率低等问题,不能满足日益增长的植物遗传转化需求。本系列研究充分发挥DNA纳米技术的高度可设计性及可编程性,设计开发了DNA纳米结构以及纳米金等纳米载体,通过精确地调控纳米载体的物理化学性质,如尺寸、刚性等,系统的研究了纳米载体被植物细胞有效摄取的性能参数。结果标明,DNA纳米结构的尺寸及刚性是决定其是否可以有效摄取的两个关键指标。DNA纳米结构作为载体可以有效地将干扰小rNA(sirNA)递送到烟草植物叶片中发挥基因沉默功能,并且沉默效率和相对摄取量成正比。在此研究基础上,我们设计了不同尺寸(5-20 nm)和形状(球形和棒状)的核酸分子修饰的金纳米颗粒,进一步的系统研究纳米颗粒在植物叶片及细胞中的转运及摄取机理。研究结果发现,金纳米颗粒均可以被输送至细胞壁部位,和细胞壁发生一定的相互作用,但是只有棒状的金纳米颗粒可以被植物细胞摄取。进一步使用金纳米颗粒作为载体载带sirNA的结果却标明,10 nm的球形金纳米颗粒具有最优的基因沉默效率。基于此,本研究提出sirNA的载带并不需要纳米载体进入植物细胞,只要载体可以有效地保护sirNA且将其运送至植物细胞壁处,sirNA便可进入细胞发挥基因沉默作用。本系列研究为非生物纳米载体的设计及开发提供了理论指导,有望针对不同的功能生物分子开发定制的纳米载体,更好的服务基于基因编辑的新一代育种技术。

The compounds have been synthesized and characterized by routine MS, Ir and NMr spectrometry methods. The compounds are all active on bacterial strains with the exception of Salmonella typhimirium, with a MIC value of 7.5 mg/mL. They show a percentage of anti-radical activity of 75.476 ± 5.070 for the compound DAN-S and of 68.142 ± 6.539 for the compound DAN-OV. The compounds are sensitive to the two champions used. DAN-S compound is then the most active.

Symptomatic Benign prostatic hypertrophy may cause obstructive symptoms, irritative symptoms or both obstructive symptoms include a sensation of incomplete bladder emptying, straining to void, urinary hesitancy and weak stream while irritative symptoms include dysuria, nocturia, urinary frequency and urinary urgency. A quantitative measure of the severity of lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hypertrophy can be obtained using the International Prostate Symptoms Score. Ultrasonography is useful for helping to determine bladder and prostate size in patients with urinary lower urinary tract symptoms. Uroflowmetry is a non-invasive test that assesses voiding function. It provides valuable data on the voided volume, time is taken to reach maximum flow rate and average flow rate. The goal of this study was to improve the follow up of patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy by providing simple, available, affordable and non-invasive that best predict bladder outlet obstruction and the quality of life in these patients. rong>Method: rong>This was a cross-sectional analytic study carried out over a period of five months from May 2020 to September 2020 at the Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetric and Paediatric Hospital, which is a tertiary hospital in Cameroon. 本实验观察了Ⅰ型和Ⅱ型单纯疱疹病毒(简称HSV-1和HSV-2)的空斑特征和对温度的敏感性。病毒接种豚鼠胚细胞3天后,HSV-2形成的空斑较HSV-1的大,边缘也较整齐。两者对热(37℃水浴)灭活无明显差别,但HSV-2对低温(-70℃)的耐受性比HSV-1弱。HSV-1 DNA经EcorI消化后,在我们的实验条件下,凝胶电泳可分辨出5条清晰的DNA带,而在此分子量范围内,HSV-2仅有两条带;用Hpa Ⅰ消化后,HSV-1有8条以上分辨清晰的带,HSV-2仅有一条可分辨的带。本研究为HSV-1和HSV-2的分型鉴定、保藏提供了简便、准确的检测手段和实验依据。

Identification of Quinolones/Fluoroquinolones resistance Genes from Staphylococci Strains Isolated at the University Hospital of Brazzaville, republic of the Congo

Staphylococci strains, like the majority of bacterial strains, have developed the resistance to several antibiotics, including Quinolones and Fluoroquin-olones In the republic of the Congo, cases of resistance leading to treat-ment failures have been observed during the treatment of staphylococcal infections with antibiotics in hospitals. The objective of this study was to identify the Quinolone/Fluoroquinolone resistance genes from staphylo-cocci strains isolated in hospitals. A total of 51 strains of Staphylococci were isolated, including 16 (31.37%) community strains, and 35 (68.62%) clinical strains. 46 strains of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and 5 SCNs were identified. A total of 34 DNA fragments from different strains resistant to Quinolones/Fluoroquinolones, including 21 (61.67%) DNA fragments from clinical S. aureus and 13 (38.23%) from community SCN strains were analyzed by the molecular method (genotypic detection) by PCr. The genotypic results made it possible to identify the gyrA, grLA and norA genes and to show that these genes are involved in the resistance of the strains to the various antibiotics used. The grLA gene was the most identified gene with a frequency of 75%. The gyrA and grLA genes have been identified in Staphylococcus aureus and Coagulase Negative Staphy-lococci. The norA gene, on the other hand, has only been identified in Staphylococcus aureus. Two mechanisms are essentially involved in the resistance of Staphylococci to quinolones/Fluoroquinolones, the mecha-nism of resistance by efflux, which takes place thanks to a transmembrane protein coded by the norA gene and by point mutations (substitution and deletion of acids or nucleotides) observed within the protein and nucleic sequences of the chromosomal gyrA and grLA genes.

Biological tests provide information on the medical analysis requested by both the patient and the prescriber. It is a communication link between the prescriber and the laboratory staff. The lack of some information on request forms not only affects the drafting quality of the test and patient care, but could also make thousands of data produced by healthcare centers unusable. The aim of this study was to assess the drafting quality of request forms submitted to the Malaria and Parasitology Units at the Institut Pasteur de Côte d’Ivoire. Methods: It was a descriptive cross-sectional study to assess the drafting quality of request forms of various prescribers received at the Institut Pasteur de Côte d’Ivoire. This study was conducted at the Malaria and Parasitology Units, department of Parasitology and Mycology (Institut Pasteur de Côte d’Ivoire), from 6th December 2020 to 6th December 2021. The information on each request forms was recorded on a data collection form designed for this purpose. Each data collection form corresponds to a request forms and each test to a patient. results: Out of a total of 1990 request forms received, the patient’s age and sex were missing on 18% and 26.8% of the tests respectively. More than half (51.80%) of request forms did not indicate the patient’s place of residence. Clinical information was not provided on 45.90% of the tests. Prescribers omitting their signatures were 51%, stamps were 50.3% and contacts were 71.2%. Only 5.4% of request forms were of good drafting quality. Providing all the required information on the forms could facilitate the use and analysis of data and samples.
