Background Exposure to bisphenol A(BPA),an environmental pollutant known for its endocrine-disrupting properties,during gestation has been reported to increase the risk of fetal growth restriction(FGR)in an ovine model of pregnancy.We hypothesized that the FGR results from the BPA-induced insufficiency and barrier dysfunction of the placenta,oxidative stress,inflammatory responses,autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS).However,precise mechanisms underlying the BPA-induced placental dysfunction,and subsequently,FGR,as well as the potential involvement of placental ERS in these complications,remain to be investigated.Methods In vivo experiment,16 twin-pregnant(from d 40 to 130 of gestation)Hu ewes were randomly distributed into two groups(8 ewes each).One group served as a control and received corn oil once a day,whereas the other group received BPA(5 mg/kg/d as a subcutaneous injection).In vitro study,ovine trophoblast cells(OTCs)were exposed to 4 treatments,6 replicates each.The OTCs were treated with 400μmol/L BPA,400μmol/L BPA+0.5μg/m L tunicamycin(Tm;ERS activator),400μmol/L BPA+1μmol/L 4-phenyl butyric acid(4-PBA;ERS antagonist)and DMEM/F12 complete medium(control),for 24 h.Results In vivo experiments,pregnant Hu ewes receiving the BPA from 40 to 130 days of pregnancy experienced a decrease in placental efficiency,progesterone(P4)level and fetal weight,and an increase in placental estrogen(E2)level,together with barrier dysfunctions,OS,inflammatory responses,autophagy and ERS in type A cotyledons.In vitro experiment,the OTCs exposed to BPA for 24 h showed an increase in the E2 level and related protein and gene expressions of autophagy,ERS,pro-apoptosis and inflammatory response,and a decrease in the P4 level and the related protein and gene expressions of antioxidant,anti-apoptosis and barrier function.Moreover,treating the OTCs with Tm aggravated BPA-induced dysfunction of barrier and endocrine(the increased E2 level and decreased P4 level),OS,inflammatory responses,autophagy,and ERS.However,treati

Stabilization of fractional bilinear systems with multiple inputs

In this paper,we study in a constructive way the stabilization problem of fractional bilinear systems with multiple inputs.Using the quadratic Lyapunov functions and some additional hypotheses on the unit sphere,we construct stabilizing feedback laws for the considered fractional bilinear system.A numerical example is given to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained result.

In the present paper,by extending some fractional calculus to the framework of Clifford analysis,new classes of wavelet functions are presented.Firstly,some classes of monogenic polynomials are provided based on 2-parameters weight functions which extend the classical Jacobi ones in the context of Clifford analysis.The discovered polynomial sets are next applied to introduce new wavelet functions.Reconstruction formula as well as Fourier-Plancherel rules have been proved.The main tool reposes on the extension of fractional derivatives,fractional integrals and fractional Fourier transforms to Clifford analysis.

In the past three decades,laser warning systems(LWS)have emerged in great importance,as the development of laser-guided weapons,such as airborne Hellfire missiles,has increased,posing an imminent threat to vital areas and VIPs.The laser warning station(LWS)can detect,classify,identify,and give alarm from laser threat at a very short time with high sensitivity.Therefore,the designers of this system must take into account the detectability and field of view to cover the area to be secured.The main contribution in this research is an analytical design of LWS that consists of 24 detector elements,distributed in two arrays(2×12)circularly.Also,calculating the best distance between the detectors according to the laser beam spot size.In addition,enhancement laser warring sensor detection capability and detection performance FOV between the detectors to increase coverage area up to 360°.Moreover,decreasing dead zone area between the laser detectors element.Mathematical calculations and illustrations made to reach the best systematic design.

2D MXene Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)Enhanced Plasmonic Absorption in Metasurface for Terahertz Shielding

With the advancement of technology,shielding for terahertz(THz)electronic and communication equipment is increasingly important.The metamaterial absorption technique is mostly used to shield electromagnetic interference(EMI)in THz sensing technologies.The most widely used THz metamaterial absorbers suffer from their narrowband properties and the involvement of complex fabrication techniques.Materials with multifunctional properties,such as adjustable conductivity,broad bandwidth,high flexibility,and robustness,are driving future development to meet THz shielding applications.In this article,a theoretical simulation approach based on finite difference time domain(FDTD)is utilized to study the absorption and shielding characteristics of a two-dimensional(2D)MXene Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) metasurface absorber in the THz band.The proposed metamaterial structure is made up of a square-shaped array of MXene that is 50 nmthick and is placed on top of a silicon substrate.The bottom surface of the silicon is metalized with gold to reduce the transmission and ultimately enhance the absorption at 1–3 THz.The symmetric adjacent space between theMXene array results in a widening of bandwidth.The proposed metasurface achieves 96%absorption under normal illumination of the incident source and acquires an average of 25 dB shielding at 1 THz bandwidth,with the peak shielding reaching 65 dB.The results show that 2D MXene-based stacked metasurfaces can be proven in the realization of low-cost devices for THz shielding and sensing applications.

Effects of electron-and hole-current hysteresis on trap characterization in organo-inorganic halide perovskite

Charge trap density and carrier mobility of perovskite materials are the critical properties of perovskite solar cells.The space charge limited current(SCLC)method,which measures a dark current–voltage(I-V)curve of a single-carrier device has found extensive use for studying the trap density and charge carrier mobility in perovskite materials.Herein,it was found that the electron-and hole-current in organo-lead perovskite-based single-carrier device undergoes significant hysteresis under forward and reverse scanning due to the mobile ions.In addition,it was also observed that measuring history has a detrimental effect on hysteresis resulting in possible overestimation or underestimation of the extracted electrical values from the SCLC measurement.In the forward/reverse scanning process,the mobile ionic defects enhance/shield the charge in the traps due to ionic charging/discharging,thereby increasing/reducing the interface barrier and net charge in the I-V scanning,which in turn affects the determination of transport properties of the carrier.These results raise quite a few doubts over the direct application of classical SCLC measurements for the accurate characterization of intrinsic transport properties of the mixed ionicelectronic perovskite.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of underfed Hu ewes from d 35 to110 of gestation with either rumen-protected L-arginine(RP-Arg)or N-carbamylglutamate(NCG)on placental amino acid(AA)transport,angiogenic gene expression,and steroid anabolism.On d 35 of gestation,32 Hu ewes carrying twin fetuses were randomly divided into four treatment groups,each consisting of eight ewes,and were fed the following diets:A diet providing 100%of NRC’s nutrient requirements for pregnant ewes(CON);A diet providing 50%of NRC’s nutrient requirements for pregnant ewes(RES);RES diet plus 5 g/d NCG(RES+NCG);or RES diet plus 20 g/d RP-Arg(RES+ARG).On the d 110 of pregnancy,blood samples were taken from the mother,and samples were collected from type A cotyledons(COT;the fetal portions of the placenta).The levels of 17β-estradiol and progesterone in the maternal serum and both the capillary area density(CAD)and capillary surface density(CSD)in type A COT were decreased in response to Arg or NCG supplementation when compared to the RES group.The concentrations of arginine,leucine,putrescine and spermidine in type A COT were higher(P<0.05)in the RES+ARG or RES+NCG group than in the RES group.The mRNA expression levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)and solute carrier family 15,member 1(SLC15A1)were increased(P<0.05)while those of progesterone receptor(PGR)and fibroblast growth factor 2(FGF2)were decreased in type A COT by supplementation with either NCG or RP-Arg compared to the RES group.The results suggest that providing underfed pregnant ewes from d 35 to 110 of gestation with a diet supplemented with NCG or RP-Arg improves placental AA transport,and reduces the expression of angiogenic growth factor genes and steroid anabolism,leading to better fetal development.

The rare metals of Abu Dabbab area in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt have been investigated for their mineralogy and conditions of precipitation using combination of EMPA and fluid inclusions studies,in order to delineate the source,mechanism of formation and evolutionary model for these economic metals.The(Ta-Nb-Sn)-bearing minerals at the Abu Dabbab area include columbite group minerals(CGMs),wodginite and cassiterite.In both granitic intrusion and its enclosed quartz veins,most of zoned CGMs and cassiterite grains are commonly characterized by a well-developed twostage texture.Hence,columbite-(Mn)(CGM-Ⅰ)represents the early formed phase of CGMs that is characterized by high Mn#values(0.64-0.92)with quite low Ta#values(0.13-0.49).It was invaded by Ta-rich phases including tantalite-(Mn)(CGM-Ⅱ;Ta#=0.13-0.49)and wodginite,which contain high Ta_(2)O_(5)and SnO_(2)(17.91 wt.%).In regard to cassiterite,there are distinct compositional differences between the early-phase cassiterite(Cst-Ⅰ)and the late-phase one(Cst-Ⅱ),where the latter is enriched in Ta_(2)O_(5),Nb_(2)O_(5)and FeO.The chemistry and textural criteria of the early stage CGM-Ⅰand Cst-Ⅰ,all are indicative of magmatic origin.While,the latter CGM-Ⅱ,wodginite and Cst-Ⅱwere influenced by the late magmatic Ta-rich fluids.Fluid inclusions microthermometry shows criteria of phase separation represented by both boiling and fluid immiscibility.The initial fluid was supposed to be of magmatic origin(magmatic CH4),that was consequently influenced by fluid mixing/dilution with post-hydrothermal/meteoric water with respect to the decompression process during uplift.Isochore construction gave rise to an estimate P-T conditions(T=330-370℃,P=22-50 MPa).The fluid inclusions’microthermometry supports a transition between magmatic and late to post-hydrothermal activities in addition to surface-derived fluid(meteoric fluid?)in a part as main source for the polymetallic deposits.

Dietary N-carbamylglutamate and L-arginine supplementation improves redox status and suppresses apoptosis in the colon of intrauterine growth-retarded suckling lambs

Previous studies have revealed that dietary N-carbamylglutamate(NCG)or L-arginine(Arg)improves small intestinal integrity and immune function in suckling Hu lambs that have experienced intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).Whether these nutrients alter redox status and apoptosis in the colon of IUGR lambs is still unknown.This study,therefore,aimed at investigating whether dietary supplementation of Arg or NCG alters colonic redox status,apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and the underlying mechanism of these alterations in IUGR suckling Hu lambs.Forty-eight 7-d old Hu lambs,including 12 with normal birth weight(4.25±0.14 kg)and 36 with IUGR(3.01±0.12 kg),were assigned to 4 treatment groups(n=12 each;6 males and 6 females)for 3 weeks.The treatment groups were control(CON),IUGR,IUGR+Arg and IUGR+NCG.Relative to IUGR lambs,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)content,as well as proliferation index,were higher(P<0.05)whereas reactive oxygen species(ROS),malondialdehyde(MDA)levels and apoptotic cell numbers were lower(P<0.05)in colonic tissue for both IUGR+Arg and NCG lambs.Both m RNA and protein levels of C/EBP homologous protein 10(CHOP10),B-cell lymphoma/leukaemia 2(Bcl-2)-associated X protein(Bax),apoptosis antigen 1(Fas),activating transcription factor 6(ATF6),caspase 3,and glucose-regulated protein 78(GRP78)were lower(P<0.05)while glutathione peroxidase 1(GPx1),Bcl-2 and catalase(CAT)levels were higher(P<0.05)in colonic tissue for IUGR+Arg and IUGR+NCG lambs compared with IUGR lambs.Based on our results,dietary NCG or Arg supplementation can improve colonic redox status and suppress apoptosis via death receptor-dependent,mitochondrial and ER stress pathways in IUGR suckling lambs.
