Objec.ive: Desc.ibe the epidemiologic.l and parac.inic.l aspec.s of HP infec.ion in hepatitis B virus c.rriers. Population and Method: This was a desc.iptive c.oss-sec.ional study running from January 1 to August 30, 2019, a period of 8 months. It took plac. in the Hospital c.nters of the two major c.ties of c.ngo (Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire). The target population of our study c.nsists of patients c.rrying HBV under antiviral treatment or not. Patients aged at least 18 years and c.nsenting with a biologic.l and morphologic.l assessment were inc.uded. We did not inc.ude in our study patients taking or having taken antibiotic. and/or PPIs less than 4 weeks ago. We exc.uded all patients who did not deposit fresh stools and those in whom stool extrac.ion c.uld not be done manually. The variables studied c.vered soc.odemographic. c.inic.l and parac.inic.l aspec.s. Data entry was done using Exc.l 8.0 software. statistic.l analysis was c.rried out with SPSS 20.0 software. Results: During our study, we inc.uded 169 patients. The frequenc. of HPAG in the stools of HBV c.rriers in our study population was 63.9% (n = 109). Male patients represented 69% (n = 75) and female patients represented 31% (n = 34). The average age of the patients is 43.92 ± 13.51 years with extremes of 18 years and 80 years. c.nc.rning profession, unemployed patients and those working in the private sec.or were the most represented in respec.ively 28.4% (n = 31) and 22.9% (n = 25) without statistic.l link. Households c.mprising between 4 - 10 people and the use of public.latrines were the risk fac.ors most represented in respec.ively 69% (n = 75) and 88% (n = 96) without statistic.l link. c.inic.lly, hepatomegaly and signs of portal hypertension were most represented in 53% (n = 58) and 47% (n = 51). Biologic.lly, HBV DNA was detec.able in 60.5% of c.ses (n = 66).

Bac.ground: Elbow disloc.tions in pediatric.patients are rare injuries. This is a therapeutic.emergenc. bec.use a delay in treatment c.n have disastrous c.nsequenc.s on the func.ional level of the upper limb. Objec.ive: To present the management of elbow disloc.tion in c.ildren in c.ses of limited resourc.s. Presentation of the c.ses: These were 2 older male c.ildren aged 7 and 9 years old, admitted to the emergenc. room for painful func.ional impotenc. of the right elbow after a fall and landing on the right hand. c.inic.l and radiologic.l examinations were in favor of posterior elbow disloc.tions. The reduc.ions were c.rried out under sedation and immobilization in Jersey. Ac.ording to Robert’s c.iteria, the func.ional result was exc.llent in both patients. c.nc.usion: Emergenc. reduc.ion and immobilization whatever the means ensure an exc.llent func.ional prognosis even in c.ses of limited resourc.s.

Introduc.ion: Priapism is a urologic.l emergenc. defined as a prolonged penile erec.ion for more than 6 hours, painful and sustained, oc.urring without any sexual stimulation. The diagnosis is essentially c.inic.l. However, the management is often late bec.use of the delay in c.nsultation, whic. is c.arac.eristic.in our c.ntext. The purpose of our study is to desc.ibe the c.inic.l and therapeutic.aspec.s of patients who presented with priapism at the Yaoundé c.ntral Hospital as well as to propose a present synthesis c.nc.rning the management of priapism. Methodology: We c.nduc.ed a desc.iptive c.oss-sec.ional study with a retrospec.ive rec.uitment method in the urology department of the Yc.. It extended over a period of 6 months from January 2022 to June 2022. We reviewed the files of patients seen within a period spanning 10 years from January 1st, 2011 to January 31st, Dec.mber 2021. The study population c.nsisted of patients who had been hospitalized and treated for priapism. We c.rried out c.nsec.tive and non-exhaustive sampling. Results: During the study, we c.llec.ed data from the medic.l files of 13 patients. The median age was 25 years, with extremes of 12 and 82 years. Most of the patients were between 20 and 30 years old (38.5%). Most of the patients were single (69.2%). Sic.le c.ll disease was the main c.morbidity enc.untered during the study (76.9%). The median time from onset of symptoms to c.nsultation was 10 [6 - 20.5] hours, with extremes of 1 and 264 hours. All patients presented with painful penile erec.ion (100%). There was c.nc.mitant multifoc.l pain in 38.5% of c.ses suggestive of vaso-oc.lusive c.ises (VOc.. The symptoms oc.urred in a non-traumatic.c.ntext in the majority of c.ses (92.3%). The T-shunt was the most used surgic.l tec.nique (84.6%). Introduc.ion: Hemorrhoidal disease is a c.mmon pathology and its surgic.l treatment is based, among other things, on pedic.lar resec.ion after failure of medic.l and instrumental treatment. The aim of this study is to analyze the epidemiologic.l, c.inic.l, therapeutic.and evolving aspec.s of hemorrhoidal disease at the stage of surgic.l treatment at the University Hospital c.nter of Brazzaville. Patients and Methods: We c.nduc.ed a retrospec.ive and desc.iptive study c.rried out from January 2020 to Dec.mber 2021, a 24 months period, in the Digestive surgery department of the University Hospital c.nter of Brazzaville. It c.nc.rned patients who underwent a surgic.l proc.dure for hemorrhoidal disease. Results: 21 c.ses were c.llec.ed, representing a hospital frequenc. of 2.3%, with a sex ratio of 4.3 in favor of men. The average age of patients was 42.2 ± 11.9 years. The symptoms were mainly proc.algia, mass sensation and rec.al bleeding. We rec.rded five c.ses (19.1%) of hemorrhoidal thrombosis and 16 c.ses (80.9%) of hemorrhoidal prolapse inc.uding 12 c.ses requiring manual integration (Goligher grade III) and four irreduc.ble permanent c.ses (Goligher grade IV). The Grade III prolapse was assoc.ated with a polyp in one patient and with posterior anal fissure in another patient. Out of the 21 patients, 14 underwent a tripedic.lar hemorrhoidec.omy ac.ording to Milligan and Morgan. Two patients underwent mono- and bipedic.lar hemorrhoidec.omy with resec.ion of assoc.ated lesions and five patients underwent emergenc. thrombec.omy. The outc.me was favorable for all our patients. The average length of hospital stay was 1.5 ± 2.1 days. c.nc.usion: In the event of failure of medic.l and instrumental treatment, the hemorrhoidal c.re ac.ording to Milligan and Morgan is the surgic.l treatment of referenc. for hemorrhoidal disease at the University Hospital c.nter of Brazzaville.

Sublethal effec.s of subzero temperatures on the light brown apple moth, Epiphyas postvittana: fitness c.st. in response to partial freezing

Population responses to envir on mental extremes often dic.ate the bounds to spec.es' distributions. However, population dynamic. at, or near, those range limits may also be affec.ed by sublethal effec.s. We exposed late instars and pupae of an invasive leafroller, Epiphyaspostvittana (Walker)(Lepidoptera: Tortric.dae), to c.ld temperatures and measured the effec.s of exposure on subsequent survivorship, development, and reproduc.ion. c.ld temperature was applied as ac.te exposure to -10 °c.(a low, but not immediately lethal temperature for this spec.es) or the onset of freezing (the peak of the superc.oling point exotherm). Survival was defined as the ability to suc.essfully ec.ose as an adult. We measured immature development times, pupal mass, and adult longevity as proxies of fitness in survivors. Additionally, surviving insec.s were mated with individuals that had not been exposed to c.ld to measure fertility. There was no differenc. between the proportion of larvae or pupae that survived ac.te exposure to -10 °c.and those exposed to the c.ntrol temperature. Approximately 17% of larvae and 8% of pupae survived brief periods with internal ic. formation and c.ntinued development to bec.me reproduc.ively viable adults. Importantly, surviving the onset of freezing c.me with signific.nt fitness c.st. but not to exposure to -10 °c.most insec.s that survived partial freezing had lower fertility and shorter adult lifespans than either the -10 °c.or c.ntrol group. These results are disc.ssed within the c.ntext of forec.st.ng invasive in sec. distributions.
