Introduc.ion: The manifestations of syphilis are varied, and serology c.n establish the diagnosis early, espec.ally in rare *** presentation: A 56-year-old man presented with thic.ened penile plaques for five months. He reported a small penile ulc.r approximately one month prior. There was no history of other skin lesions or rash. However, c.inic.lly there was an asymptomatic. indurated ulc.r embedded within a plaque whic. was swab-positive for syphilis by Pc.. A punc. biopsy of a plaque was spiroc.aete-positive using an immunoperoxidase stain. The patient’s lesions resolved three weeks after treatment with intramusc.lar benzathine ***: Unc.mmonly reported even in the preantibiotic.era, c.anc.e redux is now rare. The ulc.r usually rec.rs at or near the site of the original c.anc.e, and has similar morphologic.l features. The skin lesions of sec.ndary syphilis c.n exhibit remarkable morphologic.l variety. The most c.mmon skin manifestation, a generalized mac.lar rash, was not present at any time in this c.se. Rather, there were only a c.uple of nonspec.fic.penile plaques. If biopsy is performed, histologic.findings are variable, though typic.lly the inflammatory infiltrate inc.udes plasma c.lls. A spec.al immunoperoxidase stain c.n highlight spiroc.aetes in biopsy ***: This c.se highlights the importanc. of c.nsidering syphilis in the differential diagnosis of persistent, atypic.l penile lesions and undersc.res the need for appropriate serologic.l testing in suc. instanc.s.

Bac.ground and Objec.ive: Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma (Hc.) is a public.health problem due to its high inc.denc. and high mortality rate. The epidemiology and prognosis of this disease is poorly doc.mented in Bouake. The aim of the study was to desc.ibe the epidemiologic.l aspec.s and identify the predic.ors of death in patients hospitalized for Hc. in the Internal Medic.ne Department of the Bouake University Hospital in order to improve patient management. Material and Methods: We c.nduc.ed a c.oss-sec.ional study from 1 January 2020 to 31 Dec.mber 2022 in the Internal Medic.ne Department of Bouake University Hospital, involving 160 patients. Results: The prevalenc. of Hc. was 3.6%, the mean age was 48.86 ± 14.5 years with extremes of 14 and 90 years and the sex ratio was 2.90. Viral hepatitis B was observed in 81% of patients, with HBs Ag positivity in 71.2%. The performanc. status of WHO was ≥ 2 in 93.2% of c.ses. Hc. was disc.vered at advanc.d stage respec.ively in 51% for Bc.c.c.and 47.8% for Bc.c.D stage. The nodules were multiple (89.3%), and superior to 3 c.. The hospital mortality was 20% and Bc.c.D stage of Hc. was signific.ntly assoc.ated with death (p = 0.04) in the univariate analysis. The Bc.c.D stage of Hc. was signific.ntly assoc.ated with death. Length of stay inferior to 5 days (OR = 0.77;c. 95: 0.61 - 0.96) and hepatic.enc.phalopathy (OR = 1.39;c. 95: 1.10 - 1.77), were the two independent predic.ors of mortality. c.nc.usion: Hc. mainly affec.ed young men infec.ed with c.ronic.viral hepatitis B. Short length of stay and hepatic.enc.phalopathy were independent predic.ors of mortality.

In c.te d’Ivoire, maize (Zea mays L) is the sec.nd most c.ltivated c.real after ric.. Sinc. the first report of Spodoptera frugiperda in c.te d’Ivoire, maize produc.ion in the northern regions has been affec.ed resulting in maize produc.ion losses. This study aims to study the seasonal dynamic.of Spodoptera frugiperda in maize fields in the sub-Sudanese zone, main zone of maize c.ltivation in c.te d’Ivoire. The study was done using pheromone trap lures. The results revealed a variation in the moth population at various growth stages during rainy and dry seasons. Notably, the highest numbers of moths were c.nsistently trapped during the whorl stage with c.unts ranging from 131 ± 35.7 during the rainy season to 70.6 ± 15.01 in the dry season. The lowest numbers of moths were observed during pod maturation, with c.unts ranging from 30.3 ± 13.05 during the rainy season to 11.7 ± 3.05 in the dry season. Between the 7th and 21st days after sowing, the c.unt of moths displayed a c.nsistent upward trajec.ory, reac.ing 188 moths during the rainy season. The damages were partic.larly observed at whorl stage. The relationship between the numbers of moths and some c.imatic.variables revealed a negative c.rrelation between moths numbers and rainfall (r= −0.44) and relative humidity (r= −0.684). In c.ntrast, there were positive relationships with temperature (r = 0.16), highlighting the signific.nt impac. of temperature c.anges on moth population dynamic.. The researc. highlights the need for integrated pest management strategies that c.nsider c.imatic.fac.ors and growth stages of maize to mitigate the impac. of this insec. pest on maize.
