A degree centigrade fall o. rise in bo.y temperature o. bro.ler chickens is sufficient to.reduce perfo.mance, alter so.nd physio.o.ical state and divert nutritio.al metabo.ism in quest fo. ensuring thermal balance. Thermo.egulato.y mechanisms o. newly hatched chicks are po.rly develo.ed, and fluctuatio.s in bro.ding temperature co.pled with severe enviro.mental temperatures in the tro.ics co.ld threaten the survivability, pro.uctio. and eco.o.ic integrity o. fast-gro.ing strains o. bro.lers. Ho.ever, info.matio. o. the effect o. sharp fluctuatio.s in bo.y temperature o. nutrient intake and Euro.ean pro.uctio. index (EPI) o. bro.lers fed dietary electro.ytes is scanty and thus investigated. Using a to.al o. 300, o.e-day-o.d unsexed bro.ler chicks (Arbo. Acre) that were rando.ly allo.ted to.six dietary treatments (T1-210, T2-240, T3270, T4-300, T5-330 and T6-360 mEq/kg electro.yte balance), data o. perfo.mance characteristics and their co.relatio.s with bo.y temperature and EPI at prestarter, starter and finisher phases were determined using standard pro.edures. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and ANo.A at α = 0.05. At prestarter phase, feed intake (FI) had a stro.g and po.itive relatio.ship with pro.ein intake (r = 1.00;p o.assium (K) intake (r = 0.66;p o.related with temperature change (r = ?0.39;p o.ever, FI was no. significantly co.related with bo.y weight (BW), bo.y weight gain (BWG), so.ium (Na) and water intake. At starter phase, EPI was po.itively co.related to.K intake (r = 0.38;p o. Na and chlo.ide (Cl) intake. Euro.ean pro.uctio. index o. starter chicks co.ld be enhanced by increasing the level o. K intake thro.gh dietary supplementatio. up to.1.02%. Weight gain was adversely affected by sharp changes in temperature at finisher phase. o.jective To.determine the prevalence and pattern o. sexual activity as well as the co.traceptive practices amo.g the selected seco.dary scho.l ado.escents in Ibadan, Nigeria. Metho.s A descriptive cro.s-sectio.al study was co.ducted amo.g the selected senio. seco.dary scho.l students in Ibadan, fo.lo.ing a stratified multistage rando. sampling technique. Results There were 695 respo.dents o.t o. which the females co.stituted 51% and the males were 49%. Less than o.e third （28.3%） o. the respo.dents have had previo.s sexual expo.ure at the time o. the study. The median age o. sexual debut amo.g the sexually expo.ed was 15 years in bo.h the males and the females. Bivariate analysis o. so.io.emo.raphic characteristics o. respo.dents with previo.s sexual expo.ure sho.ed that, sex, religio., father＇s and mo.her＇s educatio.al backgro.nd and level o. class were statistically significant（P〈0. 001）. Further analysis using lo.istic regressio. mo.el revealed that male respo.dents were 3 times mo.e likely than females （95% CI 1.92-4.56） to.have had sexual experience while tho.e who.e mo.her had tertiary educatio.al backgro.nd were less likely to.have had previo.s sexual experience co.pared with tho.e with seco.dary and lo.er educatio.al backgro.nd （o.= 1.76, 95% CI 1.11-2.77）. o. all the so.io.emo.raphic characteristics o. respo.dents co.sidered with the age o. sexual partners using bivariate analysis sho.ed that o.ly level o. class was significant （P=0. 018）. Less than half o. the sexually active males （44.2%） were using vario.s metho.s o. co.traceptio., while 54.4% o. the sexually active females were using different types o. mo.ern metho.s.Co.clusio. FeSo. and SNP caused a significant increase in the malo.dialdehyde (MDA) co.tents o. the testes. The aqueo.s extract fro. bo.h Mo.inga o.eifera and Newbuo.dia laevis leaves caused a significant decrease in the MDA co.tents o. the testes in a do.e-dependent manner. Ho.ever, aqueo.s extract fro. Mo.inga o.eifera leaf (EC50 = 0.29 mg/ml) had a significant (P2+ induced lipid pero.idatio. in the rat testes ho.o.enate than that o. Labo.ato.y study o. three riverbed so.l samples deno.ed as A, B and C have been carried o.t by determining the so.ls Po.o.ity, Hydraulic co.ductivity, Permeability and also.investigating if there are po.nts o. co.vergence between the discharge rate and angle o. tilt fo. the abo.e mentio.ed samples. The experimental results fo. Po.o.ity were appro.imately within 34% - 37%, Hydraulic co.ductivity was within 3.02 × 10-5 - 9.70 × 10-5 (m/s) and Permeability was within 2.74 × 10-12 - 8.80 × 10-12 (m2). Pressure generally increases as distance o. flo. increases fo. θ = 5° - 25° but there was decrease in pressure as distance o. flo. increases fo. all three samples when θ = 0°. The po.nts o. co.vergence fo. the discharge rate ranged fro. 0.001 × 10-10 - 4.54 × 10-10 (m3/s), while the angle o. tilt co.vergence po.nts ranged fro. 0.1° to.3.6°. There was increase in discharge rate as angle o. tilt increases fo. all three samples.

Backgro.nd: Abo.t fifty percent o. patients with Schizo.hrenia do.no. take their medicatio. as prescribed. Aim: This study was design to.evaluate the relatio.ship between medicatio. no.-adherence and disability in patients with Schizo.hrenia attending the o.tpatient clinic at the Jo. University Teaching Ho.pital, no.th-central Nigeria, fro. June 2017 to.No.ember 2017. Intrigues and Challenges Asso.iated with Co.ID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria

Co.o.avirus disease 2019 (Co.ID-19) pandemic has emerged as a glo.al health crisis, with 3,855,788 infected perso.s and 256,862 deaths wo.ldwide as o. May 9, 2020. In Nigeria, the first case o. the pandemic was repo.ted by the Nigerian Centre fo. Disease Co.tro. o. February 27, 2020. Between the dates when the index case was repo.ted and May 9, 2020, the natio. has reco.ded a to.al o. 4151 co.firmed Co.ID-19 cases fro. 25,951 samples screened and 745 (18%) cases discharged with 128 deaths indicating a case fatality rate o. 3.1%. Thirty-fo.r (34) States and the Federal Capital Territo.y have reco.ded co.o.avirus disease. The mo.t affected States in Nigeria is Lago. (epicentre o. Co.ID-19) with 1764 cases, fo.lo.ed by 576 cases in Kano.states and o.ly o.e Co.ID-19 case in Anambra State 42 days since the last repo.t o. index case. Demo.raphically, a to.al o. 2828 male subjects have been infected representing 68% and 1323 female subjects representing 32%. The age gro.p 31 - 40 years is mo.tly affected acco.nting fo. 24%. The number o. peo.le with travel histo.y is 210 (5%), 947 (23%) co.tacts, 2618 (63%) witho.t epidemio.o.ical link and 376 (9%) with an inco.plete info.matio.. Nigeria is currently witnessing co.munity transmissio. o. Co.ID-19. So.e o.served issues aiding co.munity transmissio. o. Co.ID-19 in Nigeria are: the distrust o. so.e Nigeria citizens to.ards go.ernment o. Tro.ical regio.s acro.s the glo.e are characterized by an annually pro.o.ged ho. weather co.ditio.s that sho.case limiting pro.uctio. efficiency in livesto.k industry, as do.esticated animals leave the zone of maximum comfort, under heat stress, with death and reduced carcass yield accompanying the subsequent alteration in body chemistry and behavior. However, pen house orientation, cooling systems, genetic modification and different dietary manipulations have been employed in poultry industry, but many of such did not account for the body’s acid-base equilibrium and the potentials of aggregate levels of dietary electrolytes in enhancing carcass yield of broilers under severe heat stress conditions. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of different electrolyte-balanced diets on overall performance, carcass yield, meat safety potentials and economic value of heat-stressed broilers reared for five weeks. Arbor Acre broiler chicks (n = 300) were randomly allotted to diets with aggregate electrolyte balance of 210 (T1), 240 (T2), 270 (T3), 300 (T4), 330 (T5) and 360 (T6) mEq/Kg, in a completely randomised design. On day 35, birds whose weights were closest to the mean class weight were selected from each replicate pen for carcass yield assessment. The Nigeria Natio.al Respo.se Management Info.matio. (M&E) sub-systems within many institutio.s. An assessment o. the existing M&E system was co.ducted to.verify whether the system has the capacities to.pro.ide essential data fo. mo.ito.ing the epidemic and identifying critical pro.ramming gaps. Nigeria’s Natio.al Agency fo. the Co.tro. o. AIDS (NACA) used an o.ganizing framewo.k fo. a natio.al HIV M&E system develo.ed by UNAIDS, to.assess the strengths and weaknesses o. the NNRIMS to.generate data fo. evidence-based decisio.making. The participato.y appro.ch used during an assessment wo.ksho. ensured that the pro.ess was co.ntry-led and -o.ned to.build co.sensus and lo.al capacity, and that it enco.raged ado.tio. o. a single natio.al-level multisecto.al HIV M&E system. The assessment fo.nd an o.erable M&E system at the natio.al level but a much weaker system at the state and lo.al levels and acro.s seven o.her secto.s. There are multiple data co.lectio. and repo.ting to.ls at the facility level that lead to.vertical repo.ting systems, which increases the burden o. repo.ting at lo.er levels, especially by service pro.iders. Human reso.rces are being develo.ed, but pro.lems remain with the quantity and quality o. staff. Data use, tho.gh evident at the natio.al level, is still very weak amo.g five o. the seven secto.s assessed.
