two new high-entropy ceramics(HECs)in the weberite and fergusonite structures,along with the unexpected formation of ordered pyrochlore phases with ultrahigh-entropy compositions and an abrupt pyrochlore–weberite transition,are discovered in a 21-component oxide *** the Gibbs phase rule allows 21 equilibrium phases,9 out of the 13 compositions examined possess single HEC phases(with ultrahigh ideal configurational entropies:~2.7kB per cation or higher on one sublattice in most cases).Notably,(15RE_(1/15))(Nb_(1/2)ta_(1/2))O_(4) possess a single monoclinic fergusonite(C2/c)phase,and(15RE_(1/15))_(3)(Nb_(1/2)ta_(1/2))_(1)O_(7) form a single orthorhombic(C222_(1))weberite phase,where 15RE_(1/15) represents Sc_(1/15)Y_(1/15)La_(1/15)Pr_(1/15)Nd_(1/15)Sm_(1/15)Eu_(1/15)Gd_(1/15)tb_(1/15)Dy_(1/15)Ho_(1/15)Er_(1/15)tm_(1/15) Yb_(1/15)Lu_(1/15).Moreover,a series of eight(15RE_(1/15))_(2+x)(ti_(1/4)Zr_(1/4)Ce_(1/4)Hf_(1/4))_(2−2x)(Nb_(1/2)ta_(1/2))_(x)O_(7) specimens all exhibit single phases,where a pyrochlore–weberite transition occurs within 0.75to-orthorhombic transition does not change the temperature-dependent thermal conductivity appreciably,as the amorphous limit may have already been achieved in the ultrahigh-entropy 21-component *** discoveries expand the diversity and complexity of HECs,towards many-component compositionally complex ceramics(CCCs)and ultrahigh-entropy ceramics.

Combined analysis of land cover change and NDVI trends in the Northern Eurasian grain belt

We present an approach to regional environ- mental monitoring in the Northern Eurasian grain belt combining time series analysis of MODIS normalized difference vegetation index （NDVI） data over the period 2001-2008 and land cover change （LCC） analysis of the 2001 and 2008 MODIS Global Land Cover product （MCD 12Q 1）. NDVI trends were overwhelmingly negative across the grain belt with statistically significant （p ≤0.05） positive trends covering only 1% of the land surface. LCC was dominated by transitions between three classes; cropland, grassland, and a mixed cropland/natural vegeta- tion mosaic. Combining our analyses of NDVI trends and LCC, we found a pattern of agricultural abandonment （cropland to grassland） in the southern range of the grain belt coinciding with statistically significant （p≤0.05） negative NDVI trends and likely driven by regional drought. In the northern range of the grain belt we found an opposite tendency toward agricultural intensification; in this case, represented by LCC from cropland mosaic to pure cropland, and also associated with statistically significant （p≤0.05） negative NDVI trends. Relatively small clusters of statistically significant （p ≤ 0.05） positive NDVI trends corresponding with both localized land abandonment and localized agricultural intensification show that land use decision making is not uniform across the region. Land surface change in the Northern Eurasian grain belt is part of a larger pattern of land cover land use change （LCLUC） in Eastern Europe, Russia, and former territories of the Soviet Union following realignment of socialist land tenure and agricultural markets. Here, we show that a combined analysis of LCC and NDVI trends provides a more complete picture of the complex- ities of LCLUC in the Northern Eurasian grain belt,involving both broader climatic forcing, and narrower anthropogenic impacts, than might be obtained from either analysis alone.

this article reviews the progress made in CO2 separation and capture research and engineering. Various technologies, such as absorption, adsorption, and membrane separation, are thoroughly discussed. New concepts such as chemical-looping combustion and hydrate-based separation are also introduced briefly. Future directions are suggested. Sequestration methods, such as forestation, ocean fertilization and mineral carbonation techniques are also covered. Underground injection and direct ocean dump are not covered.

Reconstructions of past seafloor age make it possible to quantify how plate tectonic forces,surface heat flow,ocean basin volume and global sea level have varied through geological ***,past ocean basins that have now been subducted cannot be uniquely reconstructed,and a significant challenge is how to explore a wide range of possible ***,we investigate possible distributions of seafloor ages from the late Paleozoic to present using published full-plate reconstructions and a new,efficient seafloor age reconstruction workflow,all developed using the open-source software *** test alternative reconstruction models and examine the influence of assumed spreading rates within the Panthalassa Ocean on the reconstructed history of mean seafloor age,oceanic heat flow,and the contribution of ocean basin volume to global sea *** reconstructions suggest variations in mean seafloor age of~15 Myr during the late Paleozoic,similar to the amplitude of variations previously proposed for the Cretaceous to *** reconstructed oceanic age-area distributions are broadly compatible with a scenario in which the long-period fluctuations in global sea level since the late Paleozoic are largely driven by changes in mean seafloor *** suggestions of a constant rate of seafloor production through time can be modelled using our workflow,but require that oceanic plates in the Paleozoic move slower than continents based on current reconstructions of continental motion,which is difficult to reconcile with geodynamic studies.

the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030 recognizes health at the heart of disaster risk management(DRM)at the global policy *** years on,it has catalyzed the rapid development of the field of Health Emergency and Disaster Risk management(Health EDRM)by providing a mandate for building partnerships as well as enhancing scientific *** milestones achieved include publication of the World Health Organization’s Health EDRM Framework,development of the WHO thematic Platform for Health EDRM and the WHO Health EDRM Research Network,and further application of health information principles to ***,health actors at all levels have continued to engage in the Sendai Framework processes and have had a key role in its implementation and proposed *** have been significant gains made through the partnership of health and DRM,but the relationship has not been without its *** national,regional,and global initiatives continue to operate with a lack of consistency and of linkages to respond to the Sendai Framework’s call for embedding health resilience in DRM,and conversely,embedding DRM in health *** this hurdle is important,and doing so will be a key marker of success of the next 10 years of partnership under the Sendai Framework.

It is common in statistical practice that one needs to make a choice among m + 1 mutually exclusive claims on *** m=1,it is done by the (traditional) hypothesis *** this paper,a generalization to the case m > 1 is *** fundamental difference with the case m=1 is that the new alternative hypothesis is a partition of m multiple claims and is *** is used to decide which claim in the partition is to be tested as the ***,a random alternative is *** conditional and overall type I errors of the proposed test are controlled at a given level,and this test can be used as a new solution for the general multiple test *** classical problems,including the one-sample problem,model selection in multiple linear regression,and multi-factor analysis,are revisited,and new tests are provided ***,the famous two-sided t-test should be replaced by the proposed.
