The effects of ultrafine wC(wC_(UF),0.5μm) or w(1μm) and C(0.3μm)(w+C)_(UF) additives on the densification,microstructure and mechanical properties of coarse-grained cemented carbides were compared ***,the cemented carbides with wC_(UF)/(w+C)_(UF) additives are almost fully densification to be higher than 99%,and the average grain size is kept above 2.8μ*** wC_(UF) additive assists grains to(truncated)trigonal prism shape by two dimensional(2D) growth,whereas the(w+C)_(UF) additive assists grains to rounded shape by three dimensional(3D) growth,lowers wC contiguity and increases face-centered-cubic *** hardness and bending strength of(75wC_(C)-15wC_(UF))-10Co are 86.6 Hra and 2 272 MPa,respectively,both higher than those of(75wC_(C)-15(w+C)_(UF))-10Co,which could be ascribed to the enhanced densification and unblemished ***,the fracture toughness of the(75wC_(C)-15(w+C)_(UF))-10Co is 23.5 MPa·m^(1/2),higher than that of the(75wC_(C)-15wC_(UF))-10Co due to the uniform wC-Co structure and flexible binder phase.

In response to insect attack,plants use intricate signaling pathways,including phytohormones,such as jasmonate(JA),ethylene(ET),and salicylic acid(SA),to activate ***(Zea mays)is one of the most important staple food crops around the *** studies have shown that the JA and ET signaling play important roles in maize defense against insects,but little is known about whether and how SA regulates maize resistance to insect *** this study,we ectopically expressed the Nahg(salicylate hydroxylase)gene in maize plants(Nahg maize)to block the accumulation of *** was found that compared with the wild-type(wT)maize,the Nahg-maize exhibited decreased resistance to the generalist insects Spodoptera litura and Spodoptera frugiperda and the specialist Mythimna separata,and the compromised resistance in the Nahg maize was associated with decreased levels of defensive metabolites benzoxazinoids(Bxs)and chlorogenic acid(CA).Quantification of simulated *** feedinginduced JA,JA-isoleucine conjugate(JA-Ile),and ET in the wT and Nahg maize indicated that SA does not regulate JA or JA-Ile,but positively controls *** provide evidence suggesting that the SA pathway does not crosstalk with the JA or the ET signaling in regulating the accumulation of Bxs and *** analysis revealed that the bHLH,ERF,and wRKY transcription factors might be involved in SAregulated *** study uncovers a novel and important phytohormone pathway in maize defense against lepidopterous larvae.

Integrins are a highly complex family of receptors that, when expressed on the surface of cells, can mediate reciprocal cell-to-cell and cell-to-extracellular matrix(ECM) interactions leading to assembly of integrin adhesion complexes(IACs) that initiate many signaling functions both at the membrane and deeper within the cytoplasm to coordinate processes including cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, survival, differentiation, and metabolism. All metazoan organisms possess integrins, and it is generally agreed that integrins were associated with the evolution of multicellularity, being essential for the association of cells with their neighbors and surroundings, during embryonic development and many aspects of cellular and molecular biology. Integrins have important roles in many aspects of embryonic development, normal physiology, and disease processes with a multitude of functions discovered and elucidated for integrins that directly influence many areas of biology and medicine, including mammalian pregnancy, in particular implantation of the blastocyst to the uterine wall, subsequent placentation and conceptus(embryo/fetus and associated placental membranes) development. This review provides a succinct overview of integrin structure, ligand binding, and signaling followed with a concise overview of embryonic development, implantation, and early placentation in pigs, sheep, humans, and mice as an example for rodents. A brief timeline of the initial localization of integrin subunits to the uterine luminal epithelium(LE) and conceptus trophoblast is then presented, followed by sequential summaries of integrin expression and function during gestation in pigs, sheep, humans, and rodents. As appropriate for this journal, summaries of integrin expression and function during gestation in pigs and sheep are in depth, whereas summaries for humans and rodents are brief. The stacking and aggregation of graphene nanosheets have been obstacles to their application as electrode materials for microelectronic *** study deploys a one-step,scalable,facile electrochemical exfoliation technique to fabricate nitrogen(N)and chlorine(Cl)co-doped graphene nanosheets(i.e.,N-Cl-g)via the application of constant voltage on graphite in a mixture of 0.1 mol/L H_(2)SO_(4)and 0.1 mol/L NH_(4)Cl without using dangerous and exhaustive *** introduction of Cl(with its large radius)and N,both with high electrical negativity,facilitates the modulation of the electronic structure of graphene and creation of rich structural defects in ***,in the as-constructed supercapacitors,N-Cl-g exhibits a high specific capacitance of 77 F/g at 0.2 A/g and remarkable cycling stability with 91.7%retention of initial capacitance after 20,000 cycles at 10 A/***,a symmetrical supercapacitor assembled with N-Cl-g as the positive and negative electrodes(denoted as N-Cl-g//N-Cl-g)exhibits an energy density of 3.38 wh/kg at a power density of 600 w/kg and superior cycling stability with almost no capacitance loss after 5000 cycles at 5 A/*** study provides a scalable protocol for the facile fabrication of high-performance co-doped graphene as an electrode material candidate for supercapacitors.

This study investigates the fabrication process of Zn-diffused ridge waveguides in periodically poled magnesium-doped lithium niobate(PPMgO:LN).A controlled variable method is used to study the effects of diffusion temperature,diffusion time,ZnO film thickness,and barrier layer thickness on the surface domain depolarization and waveguide quality of PPMgO:LN.A special barrier layer is proposed that can automatically lift off from the sample surface,which increases the depth of Zn doping and reduces the surface loss of the *** optimizing the process parameters,we fabricate Zn-diffused PPMgO:LN ridge waveguides with a length of 22.80 mm and a period of 18.0μ*** above waveguides can make a second harmonic generation(SHg)at 775 nm with an output power of 90.20 mw by a pump power of 741 mw at 1550 *** corresponding conversion efficiency is 3.160%/w·cm2,and the waveguide loss is approximately 0.81 dB/*** results demonstrate that high-efficiency devices can be obtained through the fabrication process described in this paper.

BACKgROUND Aseptic acetabular loosening can result from various factors that can be categorized into groups:patient-related,surgeon-related and *** present a case of a 63-year-old patient who at first underwent a total hip arthro-plasty(THA)using a metal-on-metal bearing due to hip ***-up visits revealed no complications after the *** years after the THA,acetabular component loosening occurred due to subsequent trauma of the opposite hip,necessitating a revision THA using a ceramic-on-ceramic *** SUMmaRY we aim to illustrate a rare case where the primary reason for undergoing THA revision was not only incomplete bone graft incorporation but also improper limb load *** the revision arthroplasty,a 9-year follow-up visit revealed improvements in all evaluation measures on questionnaire compared to the state before surgery:Harris Hip Score(before surgery:15;after surgery:95),western Ontario and Mcmaster Universities Arthritis Index(before surgery:96;after surgery:0),and Visual Analogue Scale(before surgery:10;after surgery:1).CONCLUSION Opposite-hip trauma caused a weight transfer to the limb after a THA *** process led to a stress shielding effect,resulting in acetabular component loosening.

we report a theory of thermal spin pumping into proximity magnets under a transverse-bias-driven heat flow of magnons in magnetic films when the dipolar coupling to the magnetic gate is tuned to be “chiral”. while there is no rectification of the magnon current in the film, we predict that chirality diverts a large percentage(50% for perfect chirality) of it into the gate. This transverse thermal spin pumping effect can be controlled by rotating the film magnetization and may help manage the heat flow in future magnonic circuits.

The Nutri-Score is a 5-color front-of-pack nutrition label designed to provide consumers with an easily understandable guideline to the healthiness of food *** impact that the Nutri-Score may have on consumers'choices is unclear since different experimental paradigms have found vastly different effect *** the present study,we have investigated how student participants change a hypothetical personal 1-daydietary plan after a learning phase during which they learn about the Nutri-Scores of the available food *** were instructed to compose a healthy diet plan in order that the question of whether the NutriScore would improve their ability to compose a healthy dietary plan could be investigated,independent of the question of whether they would apply this knowledge in their ordinary *** found a substantial(Cohen's d=0.86)positive impact on nutritional quality(as measured by the Nutrient Profiling System score of the Food Standards Agency)and a medium-sized(Cohen's d=0.43)reduction of energy *** content reduction was larger for participants who had initially composed plans with higher energy *** results suggest that the Nutri-Score has the potential to guide consumers to healthier food *** remains unclear,however,whether this potential will be reflected in real-life dietary choices.
