This article aims to study the efficiency of coupled vertical drains for the treatment of long-lasting compressible clay soils for the road project platform of the ring road of Porto Novo, capital of Benin. The experimental data allowed us to estimate a consolidation of 29% in 9 months, justifying the drainage of the soil. In order to study the efficiency of drainage, a FEM model was proposed simulating different scenarios. These include a drainless road, pavements equipped with vertical drains with meshes of 0.5 m 0.5 m, 1 m 1 m and 1.5 m 1.5 m respectively and horizontal drains. The results expressed in terms of variations in vertical stresses, effective stresses and shear deformations revealed significant variations in pavement performance depending on the mesh size of the vertical drains. The configuration with a mesh of 0.5 m 0.5 m showed the least deformations, thus indicating a reduction in deformations and better stress distribution. However, the other mesh configurations showed variable results, underlining the importance of choosing the right mesh for the specific project conditions.

Introduction: Cystic lymphangiomas are rare benign malformative tumors of the lymphatic system of obscure etiopathogenesis. The cervico-facial location remains the most common (75%). Although benign, these tumors remain potentially fatal, due to possible compression of the upper aero-digestive tract. The aim of this work is to study the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of cervico-mandibular congenital cystic lymphangiomas in the pediatric surgery department of the Donka National Hospital (HND) Conakry. Patients and methods: This is a retrospective and descriptive study of 13 files lasting 7 years from January 2015 to December 31, 2021. The files of children whose age is less than or equal to 15 years operated on cervical tumor with histological evidence of cystic lymphangioma were retained. The data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software 21 and anonymously. Results: The incidence of this study was 1.86 cases per year and a sex ratio of 0.62 in favor of girls. The average age was 8 months 19 days. In the antecedents, we only find poorly monitored pregnancies. The average size of the tumors was 11.85 cm. Cervical ultrasound and standard x-ray of the cervical mass were the only examinations performed. Total surgical excision of the cervical tumor was performed in all patients. The mass was polycystic on exploration. The histological examination of the surgical specimens was in favor of a cystic lymphangioma. The surgical consequences were simple in 11 patients (84.62%) and complicated by parietal suppuration in 2 cases (15.38%). There were no cases of recurrence after one year of follow-up. Conclusion: Cervico-mandibular cystic lymphangiomas are the most frequent locations of congenital lymphangiomas in children. Their severity is linked to the risk of compression of the aero-digestive tracts. Their diagnosis must be confirmed by the histology of the surgical specimen. macrosomia is defined as a term birth weight greater than or equal to 4000 grams, or greater than the 90 percentile of intrauterine growth curves. Excessive weight has harmful consequences for the newborn and is a major health concern. Objectives: To determine the frequency of neonatal macrosomia, describe risk factors and neonatal and maternal complications. materials and methods: This was a cross-sectional study carried out between January and December 2022, involving newborns whose birth weight was greater than or equal to 4000 grams admitted to the neonatology unit of the Labe regional hospital. Results: 591 deliveries were recorded, 15 of which were macrosomic, representing a frequency of 2.54%. The average age of the women was 30.26 years. History of fetal macrosomia and diabetes was 93.33 and 71.43% respectively. The mean gestational age was 38.71 ± 0.75 sa, the mean antenatal consultation was 3 ± 0.8 and the mode of delivery was caesarean section (66.67%). Third-trimester ultrasound was performed in 53.33% of cases. macrosomic newborns were male in 80% of cases. Neonatal complications were asphyxia (60%), hypoglycemia (20%) and hypocalcemia (13.33%). Factors associated with neonatal macrosomia were diabetes (P macrosomia (P Conclusion: this study shows that the frequency of neonatal macrosomia is 2.54% with high neonatal morbidity among newborns hospitalized in the neonatology unit of the Labé regional hospital. Screening for macrosomia risk factors during pregnancy is essential to prevent perinatal complications.

We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of WS_(2),Te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and TiS_(3)and TiS_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum Seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for WS_(2)and TiS_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

Background: European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy( ESGE) recommends needle-knife fstulotomy(NKF) as the preferred precut technique in cases when standard cannulation techniques fail. Despite scarce scientifc evidence, flat and diverticular papillae are thought not to be ideal for NKF, as they are associated with poor outcomes. The present study aimed to determine the outcomes of the use of NKF in relation to flat and intradiverticular papillae. Methods: This prospective multicenter study enrolled consecutive patients, evidencing na?ve flat(group A, n = 49) or diverticular papilla(group B, n = 28), who underwent NKF after failure of standard cannulation techniques. Diverticular morphology was subdivided into intradiverticular(group B1, n = 14) and diverticular border papillae(group B2, n = 14), using a previously validated endoscopic classifcation of the major papilla. The success of biliary cannulation at initial endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP), overall biliary cannulation, overall cannulation time, and the rate of adverse events were assessed in the study. Results: The initial cannulation rates were 93.9%, 64.3% and 71.4% for group A, B1, and B2, respectively( P = 0.005);overall cannulation rates after a second ERCP were 98.0%, 92.9% and 85.7%, respectively( P = 0.134). Adverse events occurred in 11.7% of patients, with post-ERCP pancreatitis(PEP) being the most common adverse event(10.4%). Although there was a trend towards a higher incidence of PEP in flat papillae, univariate and multivariate analyses did not show any signifcant relationship between pancreatitis and trainee involvement, papillary morphology, nor overall cannulation time. Conclusions: Although flat papillae are associated with high success rates of biliary cannulation using NKF, the rate of PEP is not negligible. NKF is feasible in diverticular papillae, but it is associated with a modest success rate in the initial ERCP.

Six new high precision U-Pb zircon ID-TIMS ages plus thirteen in situ high spatial resolution U-Pb zircon LA-MC-ICPMS ages are reported from Jurassic plutonic(metaluminous to weakly peraluminous biotite granites)and Jurassic to Cretaceous hypabyssal(dacites)rocks from *** its relatively small area(~30 km^2),the new ages tightly constrain the macao granitic magmatism to two periods ranging from 164.5±0.6 ma to 162.9±0.7 ma and 156.6±0.2 ma to 155.5±0.8 ma,separated by ca.6 *** zircons point to the existence of a basement with ages up to Paleo-Proterozoic and late Archean in the *** addition,younger dacitic rocks were dated at 150.6±0.6 ma andma.U-Pb zircon ages and whole-rock REE data of macao granites indicate that the first pulse is also represented in Hong Kong and Southeast(SE)China,while magmatism with the chemical characteristics of the second pulse seems to not be represented outside *** two granitic magmatic pulses have distinct mineralogical and geochemical features that support their discrete nature rather than a continuum of comagmatic activity and suggest that the macao granitic suite was incrementally assembled during a period of ca.9 ma,a hypothesis also extendable to the neighboring Hong Kong region for a time lapse of ca.24 *** macao,the transition from granitic magmatism(Middle to Upper Jurassic)to the younger dacite dykes(Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous)most likely corresponds to a change in the regional tectonic setting,from an extensional regime related with foundering of the subducting paleoPacific plate during the Early Yanshanian period to the reestablishment of a normal subduction system in SE China during the Late Yanshanian period.

The effects of surface cleaning to eliminate the surface oxides formed on Cu seed layer with dilute H2SO4 solution were investigated. Cu seed layer formed on Ti/Si（100） wafer by sputter deposition was exposed to air to grow native Cu oxide. Dilute H2SO4 solutions and/or TS-40A alkaline soak cleaner were used to remove the native Cu-oxide. After mainly carbon groups （such as C=O） on surface of Cu seed layer were removed by pretreatment of TS-40A alkaline solution, subsequently, dilute H2SO4 acid solution removed Cu-oxides （Cu20 and CuO） as well as a lot of O=C and Cu（OH）2.

Fluoride Excess Removal from Brackish Drinking Water in Senegal by Using KSF and K10 Montmorillonite Clays

Fluoride excess in drinking water is noticed in many countries around the world and particularly in Senegal where, in addition to fluoride excess, high levels of salinity are also encountered. In order to reduce fluoride excess in drinking water in the groundnut basin of Senegal, two types of clays namely montmorillonite KSF and montmorillonite K10 as well were used as adsorbent materials. The results show that the pH which was initially alkaline becomes acidic varying from 2.80 to 6.80. The pseudo first-order kinetic model fit well with the adsorption experiments for KSF montmorillonite (r2 = 0.96), while for K10 clay the same model describe the experiments with slight differences (r2 = 0.90). The KSF clay has a better fluoride adsorption capacity compared to that obtained with K10 clay due to the presence of a great level of calcium oxide in the montmorilonite KSF clay.
