Although the high degree of non-monophyly and parallel evolution has long been acknowledged within the mazaediate Caliciaceae(Lecanoromycetes,Ascomycota),a natural re-classification of the group has not yet been *** we constructed a multigene phylogeny of the Caliciaceae-Physciaceae clade in order to resolve the detailed relationships within the group,to propose a revised classification,and to perform a dating *** few characters present in the available fossil and the complex character evolution of the group affects the interpretation of morphological traits and thus influences the assignment of the fossil to specific nodes in the phylogeny,when divergence time analyses are carried *** fossil assignments resulted in very different time estimates and the comparison with the analysis based on a secondary calibration demonstrates that the most likely placement of the fossil is close to a terminal node rather than a basal placement in the Calicium *** dating analysis show two successive events giving rise to main clades of mazaediate taxa within the Caliciaceae,in the Upper-Lower Cretaceous boundary and in the *** a result of this study,Cyphelium is synonymized with Calicium,Acolium is resurrected,and the new genera Allocalicium and Pseudothelomma are *** new combinations are proposed:Acolium karelicum,Acolium marcianum,Allocalicium adaequatum,Calicium carolinianum,Calicium lecideinum,Calicium lucidum,Calicium notarisii,Calicium pinicola,Calicium trachyliodes,Pseudothelomma occidentale,Pseudothelomma ocellatum and Thelomma brunneum.A key for the mazaedium-producing Caliciaceae is included.

Andean high-altitude wetlands are important ecosystems that serve a range of socialecological functions. In the Andes, bofedales, a specific type of peat-producing wetland, are essential for the sustainability of mountain ecosystems and indigenous pastoralist communities. The Chucuyo bofedal in northern Chile is affected by climatic variability and water extraction for agricultural uses via the Lauca canal. Herders in the local community also actively manage this wetland according to their traditional ecological knowledge to ensure permanent fodder for their animals. In this article, we analyze the annual behavior of the Chucuyo bofedal after the wet season. Based on precipitation data, extracted water flows, vegetation vigor from satellite images, and an ethnographic approach, we determined that the bofedal’s productivity was negatively correlated with the amount of precipitation and positively correlated with the surface area of the wetland. However, water extraction via the Lauca channel had no significant relationship with either surface area or vegetation vigor. We identify community practices and traditional ecological knowledge as key elements in the maintenance of these ecosystems. This situation is critical in the context of an aging population and the current pattern of migration out of the region to urban areas. The results provide substantial empirical evidence for future decision-making regarding the conservation of these ecosystems.

Synapses are essential units for the flow of information in the *** the last 70 years,synapses have been widely studied in multiple animal models including worms,fruit flies,and *** comparison,the study of human synapses has evolved significantly slower,mainly because of technical ***,three novel methods allowing the analysis of molecular,morphological,and functional properties of human synapses may expand our knowledge of the human ***,we briefly describe these methods,and evaluate how the information provided by each unique approach may contribute to the functional and anatomical analysis of the synaptic component of human brain *** particular,using tissue from cryopreserved human brains,synaptic plasticity can be studied in isolated synaptosomes by fluorescence analysis of single-synapse long-term potentiation（FASS-LTP）,and subpopulations of synapses can be thoroughly assessed in the ribbons of brain tissue by array tomography（AT）.Currently,it is also possible to quantify synaptic density in the living human brain by positron emission tomography（PET）,using a novel synaptic ***,data provided by FASS-LTP,AT,and PET may significantly contribute to the global understanding of synaptic structure and function in both healthy and diseased human brains,thus directly impacting translational research.

This paper analyses,simulates and verifies an experimental prototype of a four-phase interleaved DC-DC *** is based on a SEPIC-Cuk *** developed prototype has been used in single-input multiple-output(SIMO)*** combined converter allows obtaining dual output voltages of the same value,from a single input DC voltage and with only a power *** interleaved DC-DC converters achieve a better dynamic response and low ripple,maintaining their *** converter is connected in parallel,thereby managing their losses by distributing them between more components,which facilitates the thermal management of the multiphase converter and allows handling high power values in small sizes with respect to solutions for a single *** control strategies were applied:synchronous operation mode(SOM)and interleaved operation mode(IOM).The simulation results allow the comparison of both operational modes,verifying that the IOM presents advantages with respect to the ripple at the input and output *** experimental prototype was designed for a distributed power architecture and bipolar DC microgrid(MG).

Improving the network interface performance is needed by the demand of applications with high communication requirements （for example, some multimedia, real-time, and high-performance computing applications）, and the availability of network links providing multiple gigabits per second bandwidths that could require many processor cycles for communication tasks. Multicore architectures, the current trend in the microprocessor development to cope with the difficulties to further increase clock frequencies and microarchitecture efficiencies, provide new opportunities to exploit the parallelism available in the nodes for designing efficient communication architectures. Nevertheless, although present OS network stacks include multiple threads that make it possible to execute network tasks concurrently in the kernel, the implementations of packet-based or connection-based parallelism are not trivial as they have to take into account issues related with the cost of synchronization in the access to shared resources and the efficient use of caches. Therefore, a common trend in many recent researches on this topic is to assign network interrupts and the corresponding protocol and network application processing to the same core, as with this affinity scheduling it would be possible to reduce the contention for shared resources and the cache misses. In this paper we propose and analyze several configurations to distribute the network interface among the different cores available in the server. These alternatives have been devised according to the affinity of the corresponding communication tasks with the location （proximity to the memories where the different data structures are stored） and characteristics of the processing core. As this approach uses several cores to accelerate the communication path of a given connection, it can be seen as complementary to those that consider several cores to simultaneously process packets belonging to either the same or different connections.

Here,we show that Lichinodium(Lichinaceae,Lichinomycetes,Ascomycota)constitutes a formerly unrecognized lineage within the Leotiomycetes,thus being the first lichenized lineage recognized in the superclass Sordariomyceta(Leotiomycetes,Laboulbeniomycetes and Sordariomycetes).To infer the position of Lichinodium,we constructed two multilocus phylogenies based on six and five gene regions(nuLSU rDNA,nuSSU rDNA,mtSSU rDNA,RPB1,RPB2 and MCM7)including main Pezizomycotina groups in the first analysis and focusing secondly on a comprehensive selection of *** results show that Lichinodium is sister to *** discuss the morphological and ecological similarities between Lichinodium and other Leotiomycetes,and describe the new order Lichinodiales and family *** sister relationship between Sordariomycetes and Laboulbeniomycetes is here supported as it is the relationship between this clade and the *** results also support the polyphyly of Helotiales,the recognition of the Leotiales in a strict sense or the inclusion of the Triblidiales in *** photobionts of Lichinodium were sequenced for two genetic markers(rbcLX and 16S rDNA)and identified as Rhizonema,a recently described genus of filamentous cyanobacteria belonging to *** studies revealed that the mycobiont-cyanobiont interface in Lichinodium does not produce haustoria,thus differing from a typical Lichinomycete(***).

Educational innovation is a field that has been greatly enriched by using technology in its processes, resulting in a learning model where information comes from numerous sources and collaboration takes place among multiple students. One attractive challenge within educational innovation is the design of collaborative learning activities from the social computing point of view, where collaboration is not limited to student-to-student relationships, but includes student-to-machine interactions. At the same time, there is a great lack of tools that give support to the whole learning process and are not restricted to specific aspects of the educational task. In this paper, we present and evaluate context-aware framework for collaborative learning applications(CAFCLA) as a solution to these problems. CAFCLA is a flexible framework that covers the entire process of developing collaborative learning activities, taking advantage of contextual information and social interactions. Its application in the experimental case study of a collaborative WebQuest within a museum has shown that, among other benefits, the use of social computing improves the learning process, fosters collaboration, enhances relationships, and increases engagement.

The present work describes the development of a computer vision system for the early detection of anthracnose in sugar mango based on Ultraviolet A illumination(UV-A).Anthracnose,a disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp,is commonly found in the fruit of sugar mango(mangifera indica).It manifests as surface defects including black spots and is responsible for reducing the quality of the ***,it decreases its commercial *** more detail,this study poses a system that begins with image acquisition under white and ultraviolet ***,it proposes to analyze the Red,Green and Blue color information(R,G,B)of the pixels under two types of illumination,using four different methods:RGB-threshold,RGB-Linear Discriminant Analysis(RGBLDA),UV-LDA,and *** analysis produces an early semantic segmentation of healthy and diseased areas of the mango *** results showed that the combination of the linear discriminant analysis(LDA)and UV-A light(called UV-LDA method)in sugar mango images allows early detection of ***,this method achieves the identification of the disease one day earlier than by an expert with respect to the scale of anthracnose severity implemented in this work.
