This work examines the effect of butanol as an oxygenated additive to lower carbon monoxide,smoke,nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbon emissions and to improve the performance aspects of Calophyllum inophyllum(Punnai)***,oil-cooled compression ignition engines are employed in this *** Punnai biodiesel(P100)is blended with butanol at 10%and 20%by volume and labelled as B10 P90 and B20 P80,*** and alkaline catalyst(KOH)were used for the transesterification process for biodiesel *** transesterification technique yielded 88%biodiesel from raw Punnai *** tests resulted in lower CO,smoke,NO_x and HC emissions when fuelled with both butanol blends when compared to *** addition,BSFC(brake-specific fuel consumption)reduced and BTE(brake thermal effciency)increased with the inclusion of butanol blends(B10 and B20)to neat Punnai biodiesel.

Characterisation, Luminescence and Antibacterial Properties of Stable AgNPs Synthesised from AgCl by Precipitation Method

Silver nanoparticles （AgNPs） were synthesised using equimolar concentrations of redtlcing agent vitamin C and AgCl precursor by simple precipitation method. The synthesised AgNPs were characterised by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, UV-Visible, photoluminescence and field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEM） analysis. The formation of AgNPs was confirmed by the typical surface plasmon resonance band at 426 nm. The presence of elemental silver and pure crystalline face centre cubic （fcc） structure was confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray analysis and XRD analysis, respectively. The FESEM images showed the formation of spherical AgNPs for lower concentrations （0.1 and 0.3 mol/L） while spike and flower shaped particles were formed for higher concentration. Photoluminescence characteristic band was observed with no shift at 390 nm indicating the stable nature of AgNPs. The antibacterial property of the AgNPs was tested against gram negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa by using Cissus quadrangular as a control and the result showed that vitamin C reduced AgNPs have good antibacterial activity.

This is the first report on the thermoelectric properties of a catalyst-free polyol method used to prepare stoichiometric Bi2-xCuxS3 samples, x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, via hot pressing. Various systematic approaches to arrive at in their stoichiometric compositions are explored precisely with introduction of excess precursor of S. X-ray diffraction data analysis using Rietveld refinement confirms a polyhedral orthorhombic crystal structure with a space group Pnma, in contrast to Pbnm reported earlier. Raman data further substantiates this. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirms the valence states of the constituent elements （Bi^3＋, Cu^2＋, and S^2-） and energy dispersive X-ray analysis corroborates their compositions. The particle sizes of the pure Bi2S3 nanoparticles were 20, 35, and 82 nm as determined from the Scherrer formula, atomic force microscopy, and dynamic light scattering, respectively. Their transmission electron microscopy image shows rod-like nanostructures elongated in the 〈010〉 direction with an average diameter of 23 nm and a length of several hundreds of nanometers. A 34% improvement in the thermoelectric figure of merit is observed for Bi.6Cu0.4S3 as compared to pure Bi2S3 at 300 K.

Numerical solutions of magnetodynamics （MHD） effects on the free convective flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past a moving semi-infinite vertical cylinder with temperature oscillation are presented. The dimensionless, unsteady, non-linear, and coupled governing partial differential equations are solved by using an implicit finite difference method of the Crank-Nicolson type. The velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles are studied for various parameters. The local skin-friction, the average skinfriction, the Nusselt number, and the Sherwood number are also analyzed and presented graphically. The results are compared with available results in literature, and are found to be in good agreement.

Objective:To find out the in vitro antipalsmodial activities of mangrove leaf ***: In vitro antiplasmodial assay was carried out with 13 different mangrove *** chromatography was performed with the most potent Agecerious corniculatum（***） by using various solvent ***-MS was also preformed with the most potent ethanolic fraction of the *** ***:Of the 13 mangroves plants, *** showed maximum percentage of parasitemia suppression（94.98±1.16）%.Column chromatography was performed with *** with different solvents and the methanolic extract showed maximum percentage（99.73±1.63）%of parasitemia inhibition at 150μg/mL concentration with the IC50 value of（29.28±3.23）μg/mL *** results of the GC-MS analysis observed that,the most potent methanolic extract showed maximum retention time（30.687 RT） and the chemical class was identified as Spiro[benzofuran-2（3 H）,1’-（3 cyclohexane）-2’,3- dione,7-chloro-4’,6]which was responsible for the antiplasmodial ***:It is concluded from the present study that,the chemical constituents of *** collected from Pichavaram mangrove forest can be used as a putative antiplasmodial drugs in future.

This paper focuses on modeling and perfor- mance predetermination of a photovoltaic （PV） system with a boost converter fed permanent magnet direct current （PMDC） motor-centrifugal pump load, taking the con- verter losses into account. Sizing is done based on the maximum power generated by the PV array at the average irradiation. Hence optimum sizing of the PV array for the given irradiation at the geographical location of interest is obtained using the predetermined values. The analysis presented here involves systems employing maximum power point tracking （MPPT） as they are more efficient than directly coupled systems. However, the voltage and power of the motor might rise above rated values for irradiations greater than the average when employing MPPT, hence a control scheme has been proposed to protect the PMDC motor from being damaged during these conditions. This control scheme appropriately chooses the optimum operating point of the system, ensuring long-term sustained operation. The numerical simulation of the system is performed in matlab/Simulink and is validated with experimental results obtained from a 180 V, 0.5 hp PMDC motor coupled to a centrifugal pump. The operation of the system with the proposed control scheme is verified by varying the irradiation levels and the relevant results are presented.

In this study,a mathematical model was developed to optimize the heat treatment process for maximum tensile strength and ductility of aluminum(8011) silicon carbide particulate *** process parameters are solutionizing time,aging temperature,and aging *** experiments were performed on an universal testing machine according to centre rotatable design matrix.A mathematical model was developed with the main and interactive effects of the parameters *** analysis of variance technique was used to check the adequacy of the developed *** optimum parameters were obtained for maximum tensile *** examination shows the cracks and dimples on the fractured surfaces of heat-treated specimen.
