Comparison of intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)outcomes in infertile men with spermatogenic impairment of differing severity

The extent of spermatogenic impairment on intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)outcomes and the risk of major birth defects have been little *** this study,we evaluated the relationship between various spermatogenic conditions,sperm origin on ICSI outcomes,and major birth defects.A total of 934 infertile men attending the Center for Reproductive Medicine of Ren Ji Hospital(shanghai,China)were classified into six groups:nonobstructive azoospermia(NOA;n=84),extremely severe oligozoospermia(esOZ;n=163),severe oligozoospermia(sOZ,n=174),mild oligozoospermia(mOZ;n=148),obstructive azoospermia(OAZ;n=155),and normozoospermia(NZ;n=210).Rates of fertilization,embryo cleavage,high-quality embryos,implantation,biochemical and clinical pregnancies,abortion,delivery,newborns,as well as major birth malformations,and other newborn outcomes were analyzed and compared among *** NOA group showed a statistically lower fertilization rate(68.2%vs esOZ 77.3%,sOZ 78.0%,mOZ 73.8%,OAZ 76.6%,and NZ 79.3%,all Pmajor birth malformations,and other newborn outcomes in the six *** results showed that NOA only negatively affects some embryological outcomes such as fertilization *** was no evidence of differences in other embryological and clinical outcomes with respect to sperm source or spermatogenic *** failure and sperm origins do not impinge on the clinical outcomes in ICSI treatment.

Pyramid Separable Channel Attention Network for Single Image Super-Resolution

Single Image Super-Resolution(SISR)technology aims to reconstruct a clear,high-resolution image with more information from an input low-resolution image that is blurry and contains less *** technology has significant research value and is widely used in fields such as medical imaging,satellite image processing,and security *** significant progress in existing research,challenges remain in reconstructing clear and complex texture details,with issues such as edge blurring and artifacts still *** visual perception effect still needs further ***,this study proposes a Pyramid Separable Channel Attention Network(PSCAN)for the SISR *** designs a convolutional backbone network composed of Pyramid Separable Channel Attention blocks to effectively extract and fuse multi-scale *** expands the model’s receptive field,reduces resolution loss,and enhances the model’s ability to reconstruct texture ***,an innovative artifact loss function is designed to better distinguish between artifacts and real edge details,reducing artifacts in the reconstructed *** conducted comprehensive ablation and comparative experiments on the Arabidopsis root image dataset and several public *** experimental results show that the proposed PSCAN method achieves the best-known performance in both subjective visual effects and objective evaluation metrics,with improvements of 0.84 in Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR)and 0.017 in Structural Similarity Index(SSIM).This demonstrates that the method can effectively preserve high-frequency texture details,reduce artifacts,and have good generalization performance.

Excess properties and spectroscopic studies for binary system polyethylene glycol 600 + dimethyl sulfoxide at T =(298.15, 303.15,308.15, 313.15, and 318.15) K

The work presents density(ρ) and viscosity(η) data of binary system polyethylene glycol 600(PEG) + dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) over the entire concentration range at T =(298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15 and 318.15) K and atmospheric pressure. On the basis of density and viscosity values, the excess properties of PEG(1) + DMSO(2) mixtures, including excess molar volume(V_m^E), viscosity deviation(Δη), excess free energies of activation(ΔG^(*E)), and isobaric thermal expansion coefficient(αp), were calculated. At the same time, in order to conjecture the density viscosity under different conditions, the density and viscosity data were fitted with the corresponding formula. The calculated results of V_m^E, Δη, and ΔG^(*E) were fitted with the Redlich–Kister equation to derive coefficients and estimate the standard deviations(σ) between the experimental and calculated values. Moreover, the intermolecular interaction of PEG with DMSO was discussed on the basis of FTIR and UV–Vis spectral results of PEG(1) + DMSO(2) mixtures. The results indicated that there were the hydrogen bonding and interactions of hydroxyl hydrogen atoms in PEG with oxygen atoms in DMSO.

Microstructure and grain boundary morphology evolution of a novel Co-9Al-9W-2Ta-0.02B alloy doped with yttrium

The microstructures and grain boundary morphologies of a novel Co-9 Al-9 W-2 Ta-0.02 B alloy doped with yttrium(Y)(0.01,0.05,0.10,and 0.20; at%) were investigated as functions of aging temperatures(900 and1000 ℃) and time(50 and 150 h). The aged alloys all exhibit a γ/γ’-Co(Al,W) coherent microstructure in grain interiors, whereas an intermetallic κ-Co(W) phase precipitates at grain boundaries. Y is found to fully segregate at grain boundaries and changes grain boundary precipitate morphologies. For 0.01 Y alloy, bright κ-Co(W) stripes precipitate along grain boundaries, where a needlelike κ-Co(W) phase grows from grain boundaries or κ-Co(W) stripes toward grain interior. As the nominal Y content increases, the stripe and needlelike κ-Co(W) precipitates at grain boundaries are strongly restrained and disappear in 0.20 Y alloy, leaving fine κ-Co(W) particles scattered at grain boundaries. It is noted that more Y segregation may increase the number of low-angle grain boundaries(LABS, with misorientations of <15°), whereas it eliminates O impurities from grain boundaries. Finally,the effect of Y segregation on tensile behavior of Co-AlW-Ta-B alloy was discussed from the viewpoints of grain boundary precipitate morphologies, grain boundary character distribution(GBCD), and impurity segregation.

Construction of uniform CuO nanoshells and its application in high-voltage cathode materials

CuO coating layers have attracted numerous attention due to its wide application in catalysis, batteries and other areas. However, the uncontrollable precipitation process of Cu2+has made it challenging to form uniform CuO nanoshells. In this study, uniform CuO nanoshells were prepared through a delicate design. Namely, the uniform Cu2+-poly（m-phenylenediamine）(Cu-PmPD) nanoshells were constructed firstly, and then the organic parts in the Cu-PmPD were removed while uniform CuO nanoshells formed in the controllable calcination *** this method to high-voltage cathode materials, the CuO was successfully coated on the LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4,which greatly reduced the transition metal dissolution and improved the electrochemical performance in lithiumion batteries.

Armoring lithium metal anode with soft–rigid gradient interphase toward high-capacity and long-life all-solid-state battery

Solid polymer electrolytes(SPEs)are highly promising for realizing high-capacity,low-cost,and safe Li metal ***,the Li dendritic growth and side reactions between Li and SPEs also plague these ***,a fluorinated lithium salt coating(FC)with organic-inorganic gradient and soft–rigid feature is introduced on Li surface as an artificial protective layer by the in-situ reaction between Li metal and fluorinated carboxylic *** FC layer can improve the interface stability and wettability between Li and SPEs,assist the transport of Li ions,and guide Li nucleation,contributing to a dendrite-free Li deposition and long-lifespan Li metal *** symmetric cell with FC-Li anodes exhibits a high areal capacity of 1 mah cm^(-2)at 0.5 ma cm^(-2),and an ultra-long lifespan of 2000 h at a current density of 0.1 ma cm^(-2).Moreover,the full cell paired with the LiFePO4 cathode exhibits improved cycling stability,remaining 83.7%capacity after 500 cycles at 1 *** matching with the S cathode,the FC layer can prevent the shuttle effect,contributing to stable and high-capacity Li–S *** work provided a promising way for the construction of stable all-solid-state lithium metal batteries with prolonged lifespan.

Soil respiration(Rs)is important for transport-ing or fixing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere,and even diminutive variations can profoundly influence the carbon ***,the R_(s) dynamics in a loess alpine hilly region with representative sensitivity to climate change and fragile ecology remains poorly *** study investigated the correlation and degree of control between R_(s) and its photosynthetic and environmental factors in five subalpine forest cover *** examined the correlations between R_(s) and variables temperature(T_(10)) and soil moisture content at 10 cm depth(W_(10)),net photosynthetic rate(P_(n))and soil properties to establish multiple models,and the variables were measured for diurnal and monthly vari-ations from September 2018 to August *** results showed that soil physical factors are not the main drivers of R_(s) dynamics at the diel scale;however,the trend in the monthly variation in R_(s) was consistent with that of T_(10)and P_(n).Further,R_(s) was significantly affected by pH,providing further evidence that coniferous forest leaves contribute to soil acidification,thus reducing R_(s).Significant exponential and linear correlations were established between R_(s) and T_(10)and W_(10),respectively,and R_(s) was positively correlated with P_(n).Accordingly,we established a two-factor model and a three-factor model,and the correlation coefficients(R_(2))was improved to different degrees compared with models based only on T_(10) and W_(10).Moreover,temperature sensitivity(Q_(10))was the highest in the secondary forest and lowest in the Larix principis-rupprechtii *** findings suggest that the control of R_(s) by the environment(moisture and tempera-ture)and photosynthesis,which are interactive or comple-mentary effects,may influence spatial and temporal homeo-stasis in the region and showed that the models appropriately described the dynamic variation in R_(s) and the carbon cycle in different forest *** add

Understanding the interfacial behaviors of benzene alkylation with butene using chloroaluminate ionic liquid catalyst: A molecular dynamics simulation

To better understand the benzene alkylation with chloroaluminate ionic liquids(ILs) as catalyst, the interfacial properties between the benzene/butene binary reactants and chloroaluminate ILs with varying cation alkyl chain length and different anions were investigated using molecular dynamics(MD) simulations. The results indicate that ILs can obviously improve the interfacial width, solubility and diffusion of reactants compared to H_(2)SO_(4). The longer alkyl chains of cations present a density enrichment at the interface and protrude into the binary reactants phase. Furthermore, the ILs consisting of 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium cations([Omim]^(+)) and the stronger acidity heptachlorodialuminate anions([Al_(2)Cl_(7)]^(-)) are more beneficial to promote the interfacial width and facilitate the dissolution and diffusion of benzene in both the IL bulk and the interfacial region in comparison to the ones with shorter alkyl chains cations and weaker acidity anions. The information gives us a better guideline for the design of ILs for benzene alkylation.

Engineering of Ag@Pd/Al_(2)O_(3)with varied Pd-shell thickness:Dynamic evolution of ligand and strain effects on acetylene selective hydrogenation

Bimetallic nanoparticles exhibit a synergistic effect that critically depends on their surface composition,but such promotion mechanisms become vague with varying surface ***,alumina supported Ag@Pd core–shell and PdAg alloy structure with controlled size and surface compositions were prepared to demonstrate synergetic mechanisms,particularly,ligand and strain effects on activity and ethylene selectivity for acetylene *** performance evaluation indicates that Ag@Pd catalysts with well-controlled Pd-shell thickness can effectively lower apparent activation energy and improve ethylene *** activity increases from 0.019 to 0.062 s^(-1) with decreasing Pd-shell thickness under mild conditions,which is 3–6 times higher than their alloyed and monometallic *** characterizations and density functional theory are conducted to reveal such shell-thickness-dependent *** ligand effect arising from Ag alloying in the interface of Ag@Pd2ML observes the strongest binding of acetylene,but it diminished sharply and the strain effect gets more prevailing with increasing shell *** competition of ethylene desorption and deephydrogenation were also investigated to understand the selectivity governing factors,and the selectivity descriptor(0.5BE(C_(2)H_(4))–BE(H))was built to match the contribution of ligand and strain effect on the different surfaces of Pd-Ag bimetallic *** exploration of synergetic mechanisms among bimetallic NPs with varied structure and surface compositions in this work can help us to deepen the understanding catalyst structure–activity relationship and provide a feasible way to optimize the overall catalytic performance.
