Effects of deposition angle and axial distance on the structural and mechanical properties of niobium nitride syn- thesized by a dense plasma focus （DPF） system are studied. The x-ray diffraction （XRD） confirms that the deposition parameters affect the growth of multi-phase niobium nitride. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） shows the granular surface morphology with strong thermally assisted coagulation effects observed at the 5-cm axial distance. The non-porous granular morphology observed at the 9-cm distance along the anode axis is different from those observed at deposition angles of 10° and 20°. Energy dispersive x-ray （EDX） spectroscopy reveals the maximum nitrogen content at the shortest （5 cm） axial position. Atomic force microscopy （AFM） exhibits that the roughness of coated films varies for coatings synthesized at different axial and angular positions, and the Vickers micro-hardness test shows that a maximum hardness value is （08.44 ±0.01） GPa for niobium nitride synthesized at 5-cm axial distance, which is about 500% more than that of a virgin sample.

Further development of an energy-minimization multiscale modeling approach to simulating two-phase flow under turbulent conditions that considers the size distribution of mesoscale structures, i.e. bubbles and clusters, is presented. User-defined values of minimum and maximum cluster or bubble diame- ters were specified. A uniform size distribution was first considered as a test case, in which the drag force comprised contributions from each size group. The mathematical form of the objective function describing the energy for suspension and transport was not altered. The heterogeneity index of this new drag modification was then used to simulate pilot-scale circulating fluidized-bed risers involving Geldart group A particles. The results were validated against available experimental data. The model is capable of capturing both axial and radial profiles of flow-field variables.

Layered double hydroxides, a class of anionic clays possessing sandwich like structure in which negative anions are sandwiched into positively charged metal layers in a repeating manner, have been studied extensively. Layered double hydroxides could be fabricated with combination of different divalent(Cd^(2+), Mn^(2+), Fe^(2+), Pb^(2+)) and trivalent(Al^(3+), Cr^(3+), Fe^(3+)) metals and layered arrangement imparts unique properties such as adsorption properties and catalytic properties in these compounds. Exciting feature of these compounds is the memory effect. There are a number of methods to synthesize these layered compounds, such as co-precipitation, hydrothermal, sol-gel, urea hydrolysis,?etc. The synthesized LDHs can be characterized morphologically and compositionally i.e. scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, powder X-Ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, XPS, etc. The wonderful feature of layered double hydroxides is the pliancy of interlayer space enabling them to accommodate various anionic species, and high surface area making them efficient in numerous applications such as adsorbents, anion exchange, catalysts, and biological compatible.

The Ⅲ–V alloys and doping to tune the bandgap for solar cells and other optoelectronic devices has remained a hot topic of research for the last few decades. In the present article, the bandgap tuning and its influence on optical properties of In1-xGaxN/P, where(x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.0) alloys are comprehensively analyzed by density functional theory based on full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method(FP-LAPW) and modified Becke and Johnson potentials(TB-mBJ). The direct bandgaps turn from 0.7 eV to 3.44 eV, and 1.41 eV to 2.32 eV for In1-xGaxN/P alloys,which increases their potentials for optoelectronic devices. The optical properties are discussed such as dielectric constants,refraction, absorption, optical conductivity, and reflection. The light is polarized in the low energy region with minimum reflection. The absorption and optical conduction are maxima in the visible region, and they are shifted into the ultraviolet region by Ga doping. Moreover, static dielectric constant ε1(0) is in line with the bandgap from Penn’s model.

Sleep stage classification can provide important information regarding neonatal brain development and *** annotation,using polysomnography(PSG),is considered as a gold standard for neonatal sleep stage ***,visual annotation is time consuming and needs professional *** this reason,an internet of things and ensemblebased automatic sleep stage classification has been proposed in this study.12 EEG features,from 9 bipolar channels,were used to train and test the base classifiers including convolutional neural network,support vector machine,and multilayer *** and stacking ensembles are then used to combine the outputs for final *** proposed algorithm can reach a mean kappa of 0.73 and 0.66 for 2-stage and 3-stage(wake,active sleep,and quiet sleep)classification,*** proposed network works as a semi-real time application because a smoothing filter is used to hold the sleep stage for 3 *** high-performance parameters and its ability to work in semi real-time makes it a promising candidate for use in hospitalized newborn infants.

The performance test of a CsI(Tl) crystal (70×27×23 mm3) was performed by applying the pulse shape discrimination technique for identification of light charged particles .The crystal is coupled to a photomultiplier tube during an experiment with 6He *** pulse waveform is fully recorded by employing a high precision digital *** fast and slow gates are used for the pulse shape discrimination and the best values for the gate widths were determined to be 0.5 μs and 1.67 μs,*** 6He,4He and 3He are successfully discriminated with this technique.

Deep eutectic solvents(DESs)have drawn a growing research interest for applications in a wide range of scientific and industrial ***,a limited effort has been reported in the area of gas separation processes and particularly the carbon dioxide *** study introduces a novel set of DESs that were prepared by complexing ethylenediamine(EDA),monoethanolamine(MEA),tetraethylenepentamine(TEPA),triethylenetetramine(TETA)and diethylenetriamine(DETA)as hydrogen bond donors to monoethanolamide hydrochloride(EAHC)salt as a hydrogen bond *** absorption capacity of CO2 was evaluated by exploiting a method based on measuring the pressure drop during the absorption *** solubility of different DESs was studied at a temperature of 313.15 K and initial pressure of 0.8 *** DES systems 1 EAHC:9 DETA,1 EAHC:9 TETA and 1 EAHC:9 TEPA achieved the highest CO2 solubility of 0.6611,0.6572 and 0.7017 mol CO2·(mole DES)-1 *** results showed that CO2 solubility in the DESs increased with increasing the molar ratio of hydrogen bond *** addition,the CO2 solubility increased as the number of amine groups in the solvent increases,therefore,increasing the alkyl chain length in the DESs,resulted in increasing the CO2 *** analysis confirms the DES synthesis since no new functional group was *** FTIR spectra also revealed the carbamate formation in DES-CO2 *** addition,the densities and viscosities of the synthesized DESs were also *** CO2 initial investigation of reported DESs shows that these can be potential alternative for conventional solvents in CO2 capture processes.

Polyhydroxyalkanoates （PHAs） are a class of biopolyesters that are synthesized intracellularly by microorganisms, mainly by different genera of eubacteria. These biopolymers have diverse physical and chemical properties that also classify them as biodegradable in nature and make them compatible to living systems. In the last two decades or so, PHAs have emerged as potential useful materials in the medical field for different applications owing to their unique properties. The lower acidity and bioactivity of PHAs confer them with minimal risk compared to other biopolymers such as poly-lactic acid （PLA） and poly-glycolic acid （PGA）. Therefore, the versatility of PHAs in terms of their non-toxic degradation products, biocompatibility, desired surface modifications, wide range of physical and chemical properties, cellular growth support, and attachment without carcinogenic effects have enabled their use as in vivo implants such as sutures, adhesion barriers, and valves to guide tissue repair and in regeneration devices such as cardiovascular patches, articular cartilage repair scaffolds, bone graft substitutes, and nerve guides. Here, we briefly describe some of the most recent innovative research involving the use of PHAs in medical applications. Microbial production of PHAs also provides the opportunity to develop PHAs with more unique monomer compositions economically through metabolic engineering approaches. At present, it is generally established that the PHA monomer composition and surface modifications influence cell *** synthesis by bacteria does not require the use of a catalyst （used in the synthesis of other polymers）, which further promotes the biocompatibility of PHA-derived polymers.

We investigate the dynamics of a charged particle being kicked off from its circular orbit around a regular black hole by an incoming massive particle in the presence of magnetic field. The resulting escape velocity, escape energy and the effective potential are analyzed. It is shown that the presence of even a very weak magnetic field helps the charged particles in escaping the gravitational field of the black hole. Moreover the effective force acting on the particle visibly reduces with distance. Thus particle near the black hole will experience higher effective force as compared to when it is far away.

Ionizing radiations are widely used to sustain and enhance our quality of life in the areas such as medical diagnosis, therapy, scientific research and industry etc. Ionizing radiations are available from radioactive sources which are made of radioactive materials. The radioactive materials are produced in either nuclear power or research reactors or nuclear accelerators or extracted from the naturally found radioactive ores. These radioactive sources and radioactive materials need to be transported from their places of production to the places of applications and finally to waste repositories. The radioactive materials are transported in well designed packages having various shapes and sizes. In the field of radioactive transport, it is a mandatory to find the Transport Index (TI) to be mentioned on each package for transportation. This research is focused on the determination of the maximum γ-ray radiation dose at one meter from the surface of cubic and rectangular shaped package or containers. A computer code “Solid Angle for Transport Index” (SAFTI) has been developed using MATLAB to determine the location of maximum value of the radiation dose rate from the surface of a rectangular or square container. This maximum dose rate is used to determine the transport index. Some of the results of the code have been compared with the experimental results. The results of this research are useful not only to determine TI for individual packages but also to find the TI of the vehicles carrying the transport packages.
