Effects of solar radiation and fine roots on suction of Amorpha fruticose-vegetated soil

The thickness of shallow landslides is generally less than 2 m,which is of the same order of magnitude as the growth range of vegetation *** roots can improve the stability of shallow soil through mechanical and hydraulic ***,the landslide process is closely related to the plant roots growing on the slope *** roots play a dominant role in the regulation of soil suction through solar radiation induced ***,little is known about the correlation between cumulative solar radiation and soil ***,the specific effects of fine roots on the suction distribution are not clear in most previous *** this study,a vegetated soil of a drought-tolerant and water-tolerant shrub,namely Amorpha fruticose,was *** suction and volumetric water content of bare and vegetated soils were monitored under natural conditions for 4 *** results demonstrate that there is a nearly linear relationship between cumulative solar radiation and suction ranging from zero to 100 *** the modeling of the soil-plant-atmosphere interactions,this relationship could serve a significant role in calculating the root water uptake under given solar radiation *** addition,higher suctions were observed at the lower layer of the vegetated soil than those at the middle layer,which is different from the results of vegetated soil from previous *** is due to the fact that the root area index(RAI)of fine roots at the lower layer is twice that of the middle ***,the higher concentration of fine roots at the lower layer of vegetated soil sample resembles the root distribution of shrub near the soil-bedrock interface on shallow bedrock *** fine roots would increase soil suction through transpiration,and hence reduce the permeability and increase shear strength of ***,these new findings serve as a preliminary step on the evaluation of the stability of this common ty

Compression characteristics of saturated re-compacted glacial tills in Tianmo Gully of Tibet, China

Glacial tills are highly compressible soils composed of loosely cemented sandy silt *** role,for instance,as initial filler materials in geo-technical projects along temperate glacier regions warrant a systematic evaluation of their compressive *** such,we carry out a series of onedimensional compression tests on re-compacted glacial till samples obtained from Tianmo Gully,Tibet,with the aims of evaluating their compressive behavior under controlled initial stress *** yield stress was determined from the void ratio versus consolidation pressure(e-log)*** compression and swelling behaviors were observed during the primary and secondary compressions of the consolidation *** the compression curves,a correlation can be found between the consolidation stress and the void *** addition,we find that the compression curves of glacial tills collapse into a single curve when normalized by the compression *** experimental results in this study provide a basic understanding of the compression characteristics of the glacial tills in Tibet,China.

Effects of water content on the shear behavior and critical state of glacial till in Tianmo Gully of Tibet, China

Glacial tills are widely distributed in Tibet, China, and are highly susceptible to landslides under intense rainfalls. Failures of the slope during rainfall are closely related to the shear behavior of glacial tills at different moisture conditions. This study investigates the shear behavior and critical state of saturated and unsaturated glacial tills through a series of drained direct shear tests. The tests were conducted on two types of compacted glacial tills with different water contents and total normal stresses. A strain softening mode of failure is observed for all water content conditions accompanied by noticeable dilation. Dilatancy is found to decrease with increasing water content. Unsaturated samples showed increased rates of dilation as water content is decreased for all applied normal stresses a behavior which cannot be predicted well by classical stressdilatancy models. Furthermore, it was found that the Critical State Line(CSL), plotted on the(e-ln) plane, can be used to define the shear behavior of unsaturated glacial tills at different water *** CSL of saturated glacial tills run parallel to this line. The experimental results in this study are aimed to provide a basic understanding to the underlying failure mechanisms of glacial tills.

Single crystals of a bismuth-based coordination polymer(CP)with carboxyl-thiol ligands,[Bi(C_(8)H_(2)O_(4)S_(2))(C2H8N)]n(Bi-DSBDC-DMA,DMBDC=2,5-disulfur-1,4-dicarboxylate,DMA=dimethylamine),have been successfully synthesized.X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that Bi-DSBDC-DMA possesses a layered structure,with two-dimensional(2D)Bi-DSBDC networks alternating with layers composed of dimethylamine *** material demonstrates semiconducting properties,featuring an optical bandgap of 2.2 eV and an electrical conductivity of 2×10^(-8) S/***,electrodes based on this material exhibit a capacity of 250 mAh/g after 200 cycles for lithium-ion storage.

A N-CoSe/CoSe_(2)-C@Cu hierarchical architecture as a current collector-integrated anode for potassium-ion batteries

The highly reversible insertion/extraction of large-radius K^+into electrode materials remains a tough goal,especially for con version-type ***,we design a current collector-integrated electrode(N-CoSe/CoSe_(2)-C@Cu) as an advanced anode for potassium-ion battery(PIBs).The conductive CoSe/CoSe_(2) heterojunction with rich Se vacancy defects,conductive sp^2 N-doped carbon layer,and the elastic copper foil matrix can greatly accelerate the electron transfer and enhance the structural ***,the well-designed N-CoSe/CoSe_(2)-C@Cu current collector-integrated electrode displays enhanced potassium storage performance with regard to a high capacity(325.1 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1) after 200cycles),an exceptional rate capability(223.5 mAh·g^(-1) at2000 mA·g^(-1)),and an extraordinary long-term cycle stability(a capacity fading of only 0.019% per cycle over1200 cycles at 2000 mA·g^(-1)).Impressively,ex situ scanning electron microscopy(SEM) characterizations prove that the elastic structure of copper foil is merged into the cleverly designed N-CoSe/CoSe_(2)-C@Cu heterostructure,which buffers the deformation of structure and volume and greatly promotes the cycle life during the potassium/depotassium process.

Astronomical Test with CMOS on the 60 cm Telescope at the Xinglong Observatory,NAOC

This work shows details of an evaluation of an observational system comprising a complementary metal-oxidesemiconductor detector, 60 cm telescope and filter complement. The system’s photometric precision and differential photometric precision, and extinction coefficients were assessed through observations of Supersky flat fields, open clusters, standard stars and exoplanets. Photometry was precision achieved at the 0.02 mag level, with differential photometry of 0.004 mag precision. Extinction was found to agree with previous studies conducted at Xinglong Observatory. Ultimately, the results demonstrate this observing system is capable of precision scientific observations with a charge-coupled device across the optical wavelengths.

Sulfide oxidation under aerobic conditions can produce active oxygen for the transformation of organic pollutants in aquatic ***,the catalytic performance of transition metal-supported carbon material on this process is poor *** study found that Co-loaded carbon nanotubes(CNTs)was able to realize the efficient aerobic transformation of antibiotic ciprofloxacin(CIP)by sulfide,with the pseudo-first order reaction rate constant improved from 0.013 h^(-1)without catalyst to 0.44–0.71 h^(-1)with 100 mg/L Co-loaded *** oxygen(^(1)O_(2))was the main active specie playing key roles in the process of CIP aerobic transformation with presence of Co-loaded *** studies indicated that the excellent electron transfer ability of Co-loaded CNTs might play an important role to promote the electron transfer and facilitate the formation of intermediate H_(2)O_(2)and^(1)O_(2).Additionally,the Co-loaded CNTs/sulfide system effectively reduced the acute toxicity of organic pollutant,and Co-loaded CNTs showed remarkable cycling stability and negligible *** study gives a better understanding for the Co-loaded CNTs mediated aerobic antibiotics transformation by sulfide,and provide a reference for the application of Co-loaded carbon materials on organics aerobic transformation by sulfide.

在时域反射法(TDR)测试系统中,三针式探头作为应用最广泛的探头形式,其测试区域范围的确定是工程应用中一个重要问题。通过对比分析麦克斯韦方程及地下水渗流方程,利用岩土工程中常用的地下水渗流软件(如:Geostudio软件中SEEP/W模块)对一典型的三针式TDR探头测试区域范围进行计算,并设计了专门的试验对计算结果进行验证。结果显示:①地下水渗流分析软件对三针式TDR探头测试区域范围的计算结果与试验结果有较好的一致性;②三针式TDR探头的测试区域近似长半轴为33.0 mm、短半轴为20.7 mm的椭圆,且该区域内50%的电场能量集中在中间探针周围长半轴为10.7 mm、短半轴为8.7 mm的椭圆内,显示出较明显的"趋肤效应";③介质的电导率对三针式TDR探头测试范围基本无影响。通过该研究,提出了三针式TDR探头测试范围的计算方法,为工程或试验中该种探头的设计提供了指导。

Assessment of the triglyceride glucose index in adult patients with chronic diarrhea and constipation

BACKGROUND Accumulating evidence suggests that the gut microbiome is involved in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance(IR).However,the link between two of the most prevalent bowel disorders,chronic diarrhea and constipation,and the triglyceride glucose(TyG)index,a marker of IR,has not yet been *** To investigate the potential association between TyG and the incidence of chronic diarrhea and *** This cross-sectional study enrolled 2400 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database from *** was used as an exposure variable,with chronic diarrhea and constipation as determined by the Bristol Stool Form Scale used as the outcome variables.A demographic investigation based on TyG quartile subgroups was *** application of multivariate logistic regression models and weighted generalized additive models revealed potential correlations between TyG,chronic diarrhea,and *** analyses were performed to examine the stability of any potential *** In the chosen sample,chronic diarrhea had a prevalence of 8.00%,while chronic constipation had a prevalence of 8.04%.In multiple logistic regression,a more prominent positive association was found between TyG and chronic diarrhea,particularly in model 1(OR=1.45;95%CI:1.17-1.79,P=0.0007)and model 2(OR=1.40;95%CI:1.12-1.76,P=0.0033).No definite association was observed between the TyG levels and chronic *** weighted generalized additive model findings suggested a more substantial positive association with chronic diarrhea when TyG was less than 9.63(OR=1.89;95%CI:1.05-3.41,P=0.0344),and another positive association with chronic constipation when it was greater than 8.2(OR=1.74;95%CI:1.02-2.95,P=0.0415).The results of the subgroup analyses further strengthen the extrapolation of these results to a wide range of *** Higher TyG levels were positively associated with abnormal bowel health.

NEDD8(Neural precursor cell expressed developmentally downregulated protein 8)is an ubiquitin-like protein that is covalently attached to a lysine residue of a protein substrate through a process known as neddylation,catalyzed by the enzyme cascade,namely NEDD8 activating enzyme(E1),NEDD8 conjugating enzyme(E2),and NEDD8 ligase(E3).The substrates of neddylation are categorized into cullins and non-cullin *** of cullins activates CRLs(cullin RING ligases),the largest family of E3 ligases,whereas neddylation of non-cullin substrates alters their stability and activity,as well as subcellular ***,the neddylation pathway and/or many neddylation substrates are abnormally activated or over-expressed in various human diseases,such as metabolic disorders,liver dysfunction,neurodegenerative disorders,and cancers,among ***,targeting neddylation becomes an attractive strategy for the treatment of these *** this review,we first provide a general introduction on the neddylation cascade,its biochemical process and regulation,and the crystal structures of neddylation enzymes in complex with cullin substrates;then discuss how neddylation governs various key biological processes via the modification of cullins and non-cullin *** further review the literature data on dysregulated neddylation in several human diseases,particularly cancer,followed by an outline of current efforts in the discovery of small molecule inhibitors of neddylation as a promising therapeutic ***,few perspectives were proposed for extensive future investigations.
