Application of acidic protease in the pickling to simplify the pelt bating process

Traditionally,universally used pelt bating technologies rely on the application of trypsin,neutral and alkaline microbial proteases but suffer from complicated operation,limited bating efficiency and unsatisfac-tory leather ***,devising a new pelt bating approach to achieve high bating efficiency and excellent leather performance has always been wished for by the leather *** pursue this goal,years of persistent research work enabled us to develop a novel approach for pelt bating by means of acidic proteases in pickling ***,basic enzymatic characteristics and bating effectiveness of several typical acidic pro-teases in pelt pickling medium were investigated;then,the bating effectiveness through the quantitative charac-terization of protease activity of the optimal acidic protease was compared with that of the conventional bating *** results indicated that all of the selected acidic proteases had good salt-tolerance and exhibited optimum activity at pH 3.0–*** novel pickling-bating method based on microbial origin acidic protease L80A led to an outstanding performance on pelt bating at the dosage of 150 U/mL of collagenolytic *** bating effectiveness of acidic protease L80A was comparable to and even better than that of trypsin BEM due to its mod-erate proteolytic ***,the deep and even penetration of acidic protease in the pelt permitted it to produce soft,organoleptically stable and overall better quality crust leather than that of the conventional trypsin bating ***,pelt bating was performed along with the pickling process without extra inactiva-tion and washing operation,making the bating operation more efficient,economical,and environment *** had made us to conclude that this cutting-edge acidic proteases based pickling-bating method could be the first step/way forward to replace the decades-old traditional pelt bating technology.

More than 90%of surgical patients develop postoper-ative adhesions,and the incidence of hospital re-admissions can be as high as 20%.Current adhesion barriers present limited efficacy due to difficulties in application and incompatibility with minimally invasive *** solve thisclinical limitation,we developed an injectable and sprayable shear-thinning hydrogel barrier(STHB)composed of silicate nanoplatelets and poly(ethylene oxide).We optimized this technology to recover mechanical integrity after stress,enabling its delivery though inject-able and sprayable *** also demonstrated limited cell adhesion and cytotoxicity to STHB compositions in *** STHB was then tested in a rodent model of peritoneal injury to determine its e cacy preventing the formation of postoperative *** two weeks,the peritoneal adhesion index was used as a scoring method to determine the formation of postoperative adhesions,and STHB formulations presented superior e cacy compared to a commercially available adhesion *** and immunohistochemical examination showed reduced adhesion formation and minimal immune infiltration in STHB *** technology demonstrated increased e cacy,ease of use in complex anatomies,and compatibility with di erent delivery methods,providing a robust universal platform to prevent postoperative adhesions in a wide range of surgical interventions.

Evaluation of biological control agents for mosquitoes control in artificial breeding places

Objective:To evaluate the entomological impact of chlorpyrifos-methyl,Bacillus thuringiensis, and Gambusia affinis on mosquitoes control in artificial breeding ***:A Latin square design with 4 replicates was performed in order to evaluate the efficacy of chlorpyrifosmethyl, Bacillus thuringiensis,and Gambusia affinis on *** larvicide was applied at the dosage of 100 mg a.h/ha,Bacillus thuringiensis at the recommended dosage and 10 fishes per m^2 were applied at 1×1 m^2 artificial breeding *** larval densities for both anopheline and culicine were counted according to larvae /10 dippers prior and 24 h after ***: All three control agents are effective for mosquito density reduction,and the difference between the three agents and the control is significant(P<0.05).There is also significant difference among chlorpyrifos-methyl,Bacillus thuringiensis and Gambusia *** thuringiensis exhibited more reduction on mosquito larval density than fish and larvicide(P<0.05).Conclusions: Bacillus thuringiensis in comparison with two other agents is the appropriate method for larviciding in the breeding *** long term assessing for biological activities as well as monitoring and mapping of resistance is required.

Ethnic Comparison of Inner and Outer Intercanthal Distance among Adult Sudanese

Background: Anthropometric pattern of the inner and outer intercanthal distance varies with no universal normative values. This study was conducted on three Sudanese ethnic groups, namely blacks, Arabs, and Hamites to identify normative values and the ethnic and gender influence in the anthropometric pattern of the inner and outer intercanthal distance. Methods: This is a cross sectional study among Sudanese subjects selected randomly from Khartoum Teaching Dental Hospital and Port Sudan Dental Hospital, using a stratified sampling technique. The inner intercanthal distance (IICD) and outer intercanthal distance (OICD) were measured directly using a digital caliber. Result: A total of 280 subjects included with a mean age of 35.76 ± 12.23 years, 122 males and 158 females. The distribution of groups was as follow: 92 (33%) Arabs, 62 (22%) blacks, and 126 (45%) Hamites. The mean IICD of males and females are 31.50 mm ± 2.89 and 32.22 mm ± 3.17, respectively. The mean OICD are 95.09 mm ± 5.78 and 93.95 mm ± 4.27 for males and females, respectively, with a statistically significant relationship. Regarding the ethnic group differences, the mean of IICD was wider among the blacks, followed by the Arabs and Hamites. However, the mean of OICD was wider among the Hamites, followed by the blacks and the Arabs. Conclusion: Intercanthal distance differs across ethnic groups. Objective:To investigate the detection and sequencing of plasmid encoded tetracycline resistance genes(tet A and tet B) from food-borne and standard strains of Bacillus cereus(B. cereus).Methods:PCR was carried out to detect the tetracycline resistance genes(tet A and tet B) in food-borne *** strains and the amplified products were ***:The phenotypic resistance against tetracycline was observed in 39 of the 118 food-borne isolates and two reference strains(MTCC 430 and MTCC 1307) of *** the phenotypically resistant isolates,tet A was detected in 36 food-borne isolates and two reference strains(MTCC 430 and MTCC 1307).whereas,tel B was detected in 12 food-bome isolates and MTCC 1307 strain. Conclusions:A close association was therefore found between phenotypic resistance against tetracycline and presence of tetracycline resistance *** tet A and tet B gene fragments were amplified,purified and *** gene sequences of the isolates studied herein were found similar to tetA and tetB gene sequences of other bacteria available in *** occurrence of tetA and tetB genes in *** indicate the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance determinants from other bacteria into *** transfer of these resistant determinants to other potentially pathogenic bacteria may be a matter of great concern.

Tamper Detection and Localization for Quranic Text Watermarking Scheme Based on Hybrid Technique

The text of the Quran is principally dependent on the Arabic ***,improving the security and reliability of the Quran’s text when it is exchanged via internet networks has become one of the most difcult challenges that researchers face ***,the diacritical marks in the Holy Quran which represent Arabic vowels(i,j.s)known as the kashida(or“extended letters”)must be protected from *** cover text of the Quran and its watermarked text are different due to the low values of the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR),and Normalized Cross-Correlation(NCC);thus,the location for tamper detection accuracy is *** gap addressed in this paper to improve the security of Arabic text in the Holy Quran by using vowels with *** enhance the watermarking scheme of the text of the Quran based on hybrid techniques(XOR and queuing techniques)of the purposed *** methodology propose scheme consists of four phases:The rst phase is *** is followed by the second phase where an embedding process takes place to hide the data after the vowel letters wherein if the secret bit is“1”,it inserts the kashida but does not insert the kashida if the bit is“0”.The third phase is an extraction process and the last phase is to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme by using PSNR(for the imperceptibility),and NCC(for the security of the watermarking).Experiments were performed on three datasets of varying lengths under multiple random locations of insertion,reorder and deletion *** experimental results were revealed the improvement of the NCC by 1.76%,PSNR by 9.6%compared to available current schemes.

IRON DETERMINATION AFTER ON-LINE SORBENT PRECONCENTRATION BY FI-FASS USING 1,10-PHENANTHROLINE AS A COMPLEXING AGENT

Phenanthroline (phen) was tested as a complexing agent for on line preconcentration of iron on RP C\-\{18\} material in a microcolumn with flow injection coupled with flame atomic absorption spectrometer (FI FAAS). The on line formed Fe(II) phen complexes were adsorbed on the C\-\{18\} sorbent material. Various parameters affecting the on line Fe(II) phen complex formation and its subsequent adsorption in the microcolumn as well as its elution into the nebulizer of AAS were optimized. A 2.5×10\+\{-3\} mol/L phen in 2% ethanol was on line mixed with aqueous sample solution acidified with 0.1% (v/v) HCl and allowed to flow through the microcolumn for 30 s. The adsorbed Fe(II) phen complexes in the microcolumn were eluted with ethanol in 10 s into the nebulizer of AAS. Ascorbic acid (5×10\+\{-4\} mol/L) was added to the sample solution for the reduction of Fe(III) to Fe(II). A good precision (RSD=1.1%, \%n\%=10), high enrichment factor (19) and sample throughput (90 h\+\{-1\}) with detection limit (3σ) of 3 μg/L were obtained. The method was applied on standard reference materials(i.e. mussel and tomato leaves,) for iron determination and yielded results agreeing well with certified values.

The purpose of this research is the segmentation of lungs computed tomography(CT)scan for the diagnosis of COVID-19 by using machine learning *** dataset contains data from patients who are prone to the *** contains three types of lungs CT images(Normal,Pneumonia,and COVID-19)collected from two different sources;the first one is the Radiology Department of Nishtar Hospital Multan and Civil Hospital Bahawalpur,Pakistan,and the second one is a publicly free available medical imaging database known as *** the preprocessing,a novel fuzzy c-mean automated region-growing segmentation approach is deployed to take an automated region of interest(ROIs)and acquire 52 hybrid statistical features for each ***,12 optimized statistical features are selected via the chi-square feature reduction *** the classification,five machine learning classifiers named as deep learning J4,multilayer perceptron,support vector machine,random forest,and naive Bayes are deployed to optimize the hybrid statistical features *** is observed that the deep learning J4 has promising results(sensitivity and specificity:0.987;accuracy:98.67%)among all the deployed *** a complementary study,a statistical work is devoted to the use of a new statistical model to fit the main datasets of COVID-19 collected in Pakistan.
