Pathogenesis of chronic myeloid leukemia(CML)has mostly been studied with regard to the oncogenic role of BCR/ABL fusion,however,recent disclosures have declared that the challenges with the treatment of CML patients would not be resolved until the role of other aberrancies is *** the involvement of cyclin-dependent kinases(CDKs)in the pathogenesis of CML,the present study aimed to investigate the effects of a multi-CDK inhibitor AT7519 on BCR/ABL-harboring CML-derived K562 *** results showed that AT7519 effectively reduced the survival of K562 and induced its anti-proliferative effect through the induction of G2/M arrest due to elevated p21 and *** resulting data also revealed that either direct or indirect suppression of c-Myc using specific c-Myc inhibitor 10058-F4 and selective PI3K inhibitor CAL-101 resulted in a superior cytotoxicity,suggesting that the activation of PI3K pathway could attenuate antileukemic effects of the inhibitor,at least partly,through a c-Mycdependent *** the best of our knowledge,to date,no study has addressed the effect of autophagy on CML cell response to AT7519,and,herein,we proposed for the first time that the suppression of autophagy boosted AT7519 cytotoxicity against ***,we suggested that selective CDK inhibitor AT7519 exerted antileukemic effect against CML cells and propose a novel therapeutic application for the inhibitor either as a single agent or in combination with c-Myc and/or PI3K inhibitors.

Numerical Modeling of an Advanced Semi-SWATH Hull in Calm Water and Regular Head Wave

A small waterplane area twin hull(SWATH)has excellent seakeeping performance and low wave-making resistance,and it has been applied to small working craft,pleasure boats,and unmanned surface ***,with the increase in speed,the hydrodynamic resistance of SWATH will increase exponentially because of its large wet surface,followed by the uncomfortable situation of the hull underwater part relative to the water level and in terms of high trim by stern and high sinkage.A way to improve this situation is to reduce the depth of the draft at high speeds to ensure that all or a part of the volume of the submerged bodies is above the water *** on this idea,a new type of semi-SWATH hull form was analyzed in this *** two submerged bodies of the SWATH have a catamaran boat *** paper employed Sie-mens PLM Star-CCM+to study the hydrodynamic performance of an advanced semi-SWATH ***-hull resistance was estimated for both SWATH and CAT(CATAMARAN)modes in calm ***,the efect of fxed stabilizing fns with diferent angles on the vertical motions of the vessel in regular head waves was investigated with an overset mesh *** vertical motion responses were estimated at diferent wave encounter frequencies,and the present numerical method results have been verifed by already published experimental data.

Opium withdrawal and some blood biochemical factors in addicts' individuals

Objective: One of the common misinterpretation be- liefs in some societies (especially eastern communities) is the using of opium can reduce serum glucose and lipids. Opium is a derivative from a plant family called Papaveracea and contains almost 80 types of alkaloids. Drug addiction causes physiological dependency and its withdrawal lead to some disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of opium consumption and its withdrawal on some blood biochemical factors in addicted people. Methods: We enrolled fifty-six opium addicted people according to the especial criteria to this study. Biochemical blood parameter levels such as fasting blood sugar (FBS), urea, Creatinine (Cr), Aspartate transaminase (AST), Alanine transaminase (ALT) and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) enzymes levels were measured and urine analysis was also performed before and 3 months after withdrawal. Data were analyzed by using SPSS software version 18 and a P < 0.05 was considered as significant. Results: our finding showed that opium withdrawal reduces FBS and increases AST but these changes were not significant. Nevertheless opium withdrawal significantly increased blood urea level (P < 0.0001). We didn’t find any significant difference in Cr, ALP, AST and Urea specific gravity (SG). Conclusion: According to the results of the current study we can concluded that opium increases FBS, which is in contrast to the most previous studies and withdrawal has opposite effects.
