Heat conduction in multi-layer and composite materials is one of the fundamental heat transfer problems in many industrial *** to different materials types,interface conditions,and various geometries of these laminates,the heat conduction mechanism is more complicated than that of one-layer isotropic *** solutions are the best ways to study and understand such problems in *** this study,different existing analytical solutions for heat conduction in multi-layer and composite materials are reviewed and classified in rectangular,cylindrical,spherical,and conical *** boundary conditions,internal heat source,and thermal contact resistance as the most critical parameters in the solution complexity investigated in the literature,are discussed and summarized in different *** types of multi-layer structures such as isotropic,anisotropic,orthotropic,and reinforced laminates are included in this *** is found that although more than half a century has passed since the beginning of the research on heat transfer in multi-layer composites,new researches that can help with a better understanding in this area are still being *** challenges and shortcomings in this area are also discussed to guide future researches.

The effect of rotational speed on macro and microstructures, hardness, lap shear performance and failure mode of friction stir lap welding on AA6061-T6 Al alloy with 5 mm in thickness was studied by field-emission scanning electron microscopy （FE-SEM）. The results represent much closer hardness distribution in the upper and lower plates at the lowest rotational speed. It indicates the Fe-compounds in the fracture surface of the nugget zone by EDX.

Gluten sensitive enteropathy in patients with iron deficiency anemia of unknown origin

AIM: To determine the prevalence of gluten sensitive enteropathy (GSE) in a large group of patients with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) of obscure origin. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, patients with IDA of obscure origin were screened for GSE. Anti- endomysial antibody (EMA) and tissue transglutamin- ase antibody (tTG) levels were evaluated and duodenal biopsies were taken and scored according to the Marsh classification. The diagnosis of GSE was based on a positive serological test and abnormal duodenal histol- ogy. Gluten free diet (GFD) was advised for all the GSE patients. RESULTS: Of the 4120 IDA patients referred to our Hematology departments, 206 (95 male) patients were found to have IDA of obscure origin. Thirty out of 206 patients (14.6%) had GSE. The mean age of GSE pa- tients was 34.6 ± 17.03 (range 10-72 years). The female to male ratio was 1.3:1. Sixteen patients had Marsh 3,12 had Marsh 2, and 2 had Marsh 1 lesions. The sever- ity of anemia was in parallel with the severity of duode- nal lesions. Twenty-two GSE patients (73.3%) had no gastrointestinal symptoms. Fourteen GSE patients who adhered to GFD without receiving iron supplementation agreed to undergo follow up visits. After 6 mo of GFD, their mean hemoglobin levels (Hb) increased from 9.9 ± 1.6 to 12.8 ± 1.0 g/dL (P < 0.01). Interestingly, in 6 out of 14 patients who had Marsh 1/2 lesions (e.g. no villous atrophy) on duodenal biopsy, mean Hb increased from 11.0 ± 1.1 to 13.1 ± 1.0 g/dL (P < 0.01) while they did not receive any iron supplementation. CONCLUSION: There is a high prevalence (e.g. 14.6%) of GSE in patients with IDA of obscure origin. Gluten free diet can improve anemia in GSE patients who have mild duodenal lesions without villous atrophy.

Selective formation of ultrathin PbSe on Ag(111)

Two-dimensional(2D)semiconductors,such as lead selenide(PbSe),locate at the key position of next-generation ***,the ultrathin PbSe is still rarely reported experimentally,particularly on metal ***,we report the ultrathin PbSe synthesized via sequential molecular beam epitaxy on Ag(111).The scanning tunneling microscopy is used to resolve the atomic structure and confirms the selective formation of ultrathin PbSe through the reaction between Ag5Se2 and Pb,as further evidenced by the theoretical *** is also found that the increased accumulation of Pb leads to the improved quality of PbSe with larger and more uniform *** detailed analysis demonstrates the bilayer structure of synthesized PbSe,which could be deemed to achieve the 2D *** differential conductance spectrum reveals a metallic feature of the PbSe film,indicating a certain interaction between PbSe and Ag(111).Moreover,the moirépattern originated from the lattice mismatch between PbSe and Ag(111)is observed,and this moirésystem provides the opportunity for studying physics under periodical modulation and for device *** work illustrates a pathway to selectively synthesize ultrathin PbSe on metal surfaces and suggests a 2D experimental platform to explore PbSe-based opto-electronic and thermoelectric phenomena.

Healthy ranges of serum alanine aminotransferase levels in Iranian blood donors

AIM: The healthy ranges for serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT) levels are less well studied. The aim of this study was to define the upper limit of normal (ULN) for serum ALT levels, and to assess factors associated with serum ALT activity in apparently healthy blood donors. METHODS: A total of 1 939 blood donors were *** measurements were performed for all cases using the same laboratory method. Healthy ranges for ALT levels werecomputed from the population at the lowest risk for liver disease. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate associations between clinical factors and ALT ***: Serum ALT activity was independently associated with body mass index (BMI) and male gender, but not associated with age. Association of ALT with BMI was more prominent in males than in females. Upper limit of normal for non-overweight women (BMI of less than 25) was 34 U/L,and for non-overweight men was 40 U/***: Serum ALT is strongly associated with sex and BMI. The normal range of ALT should be defined for male and female separately.

Biostratigraphy of the Abderaz Formation Based on Heterohelicids, at Six Stratigraphical Sections in East and Center of the Kopeh-Dagh Sedimentary Basin, Northeastern of Iran

In this study, Abderaz Formation at six stratigraphical sections, in east and center of the Kopeh-Dagh sedimentary basin, has been investigated, based on biserial planktonic foraminifera. Totally, 831 samples, with 3 meter distance, were gathered from a sequence with 2800 meter thickness. Also 4 genera and 17 species of biserial planktonic foraminifera have been identified and two biozones and two subzones recognized. Based on obtained data, the age of Early Turonian-Earliest Campanian for the Padeha, Abderaz village and Shorab sections, Midle Turonian-Earliest Campanian for type section, Early Turonian-Late Santonian for Qarehso section and Early Turonian-Earliest Santonian for Hajgelichkhan section were determined. The least amount of plank-tonic foraminifera was identified at Hajgelichkhan, while the maximum amount recognized at Qarehso section.

Paleoceanography and Paleobiogeography Patterns of the Turonian-Campanian Foraminifers from the Abderaz Formation, North Eastern Iran

In this research, the Turonian-early Campanian sedimentary succession of the Abderaz Formation with 510 mthick (comprising: light grey shale and marls) was studied in the type section in eastern Kopeh-Dagh basin. The statistical analysis of the morphotype groups of the identified planktonic foraminifers shows that most of them are shallow water forms (SWF) and deep water forms (DWF). The high planktonic to benthic ratio indicates particular oligotrophic conditions and sedimentation in relatively deeper zones of a marine environment. The salinity of sea water during Coniacian was in the minimum level, whereas it reached maximum in Coniacian-Santonian boundary. Comparing Planktonic assemblages from the study formation with those from the Cretaceous biogeographical provinces reflects a close relationship between the identified species and the planktonic forms of the Tethyan provinces.

Ocular trauma treated with pars plana vitrectomy: early outcome report

AIM： To evaluate demographic variables and visual outcomes, among patients with ocular injuries involving the posterior segment, managed with pars plana vitrectomy.· METHODS： The records of patients were studied retrospectively from March to September 2010, to determine the age, gender, place of occurrence of trauma, visual acuity, anatomical site, nature of injury,wound length, the presence of an afferent pupillary defect, and the timing of vitrectomy. The Ocular Trauma Score was measured. The minimum follow-up from presentation was 6mo.·RESULTS： Ninety patients（77 males, 13 females）, with a mean age of 32.7 ±15.8y were included over the 6-month period. The majority of cases occurred in the workplace（47 patients）, followed by home（14 patients）.The mean visual acuity（log MAR） of patients significantly improved from 2.36 ±0.72 preoperatively to 1.50 ±1.14 postoperatively. Twenty-three patients had preoperative vision better than 2.0 log MAR, the postoperative visual acuity was significantly better among these patients than patients with worse than 2.0 log MAR（P 〈0.001）. Visual improvement between groups with early vitrectomy（〉7d）and delayed vitrectomy（〉7d） was not significantly different（P =0.66）. Postoperative visual acuity was not significantly different between patients with injury in Zone I and II（P =0.64）, but patients with injury in Zone III had significantly poorer visual acuity（P =0.02）. Patients with relative afferent pupillary defect had significantly poorer postoperative visual acuity（P =0.02）. Preoperative visual acuity, the difference of preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, and postoperative visualacuity were significantly different between groups with different ocular trauma scores（P〈 0.001）.·CONCLUSION： Trauma is more likely to occur in men under 40 y of age and in the workplace. 离岸微型综合能源系统与海洋工程的生产工艺环节结合紧密,并独立运行。因此,如何在克服生产工艺环节或外界环境不确定性影响的同时,尽可能减少CO_2的排放,并尽量节省成本是其规划的难点。文中从综合能源系统优化规划的角度,根据能源集线器的思想,建立离岸微型综合能源系统的电-热-CO_2耦合模型,构建以总成本最小、CO_2排放量最少为目标,以电、热网络平衡等条件为约束,并考虑生产工艺环节和外界环境不确定性影响的多目标随机规划模型,进而利用多目标进化算法求解该模型,实现兼顾成本与环保的离岸微型综合能源系统多目标优化规划。通过海上油气平台群及全电舰船的微型综合能源系统的优化规划,验证了所提方法的可行性与有效性。
