Identification and characterization of the chalkiness endosperm gene CHALK-H in rice(Oryza sativa L.)

Chalkiness is one of the most important agronomic traits in rice breeding,which directly affects the quality of rice *** this study,we identified a chalkiness endosperm mutant,chalk-h,from N-methyl-N-nitrosourea(MNU)-induced japonica rice cultivar Hwacheong(HC).Compared with wild type(WT)-HC,chalk-h showed severe chalkiness in the endosperm,yellowish green leaves,as well as reduced plant *** electron microscopy(SEM)analysis showed that starch grains in the chalk-h mutant were irregular in size and loosely arranged,with large gaps between granules,forming ovoid or orbicular *** analysis revealed that the phenotype of chalk-h is controlled by a single recessive gene LOC_Os11g39670 encoding seryl-tRNA synthetase,which is renamed as CHALK-H.A point mutation occurs in chalk-h on the sixth exon(at nucleotide 791)of CHALK-H,in which adenine(A)is replaced by thymidine(T),resulting in an amino acid codon change from glutamine(Glu)to valine(Val).The chalk-h mutant exhibited a heat-sensitive phenotype from the 3-leaf stage,including yellow-green leaves and reduced pigment *** transcriptional expression of starch synthesis-related genes was down-regulated in the chalk-h mutants compared to WT-HC at different grain-filling *** an increase in temperature,the expression of photosynthesis-related genes was down-regulated in the chalk-h mutant compared to *** of CHALK-H rescued the phenotype of chalk-h,with endosperm and leaf color similar to those of *** findings reveal that CHALK-H is a causative gene controlling chalkiness and leaf color of the chalk-h ***-H is the same gene locus as TSCD11,which was reported to be involved in chloroplast development under high *** suggest that CHALK-H/TSCD11 plays important roles not only in chloroplast development,but also in photosynthesis and starch synthesis during rice growth and development,so it has great application potential in rice breeding for high qu

Effect of surfactant frequently used in soil flushing on oxygen mass transfer in micro-nano-bubble aeration system

In-site soil flushing and aeration are the typical synergetic remediation technology for contaminated *** surfactant present in flushing solutions is bound to affect the aeration *** purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of surfactant frequently used in soil flushing on the oxygen mass transfer in micro-nano-bubble(MNB)aeration ***,bio-surfactants and chemical surfactants were used to investigate their effects on Sauter mean diameter of bubble(dBS),gas holdup(ε),volumetric mass-transfer coefficient(kLa)and liquid-side mass-transfer coefficient(kL)in the MNB aeration ***,based upon the experimental results,the Sardeing's and Frossling's models were modified to describe the effect of surfactant on kL in the MNB *** results showed that,for the twenty aqueous surfactant solutions,with the increase in surfactant concentration,the value of dBS,kLa and kL decreased,while the value ofεand gas-liquid interfacial area(a)*** phenomena were mainly attributed to the synergistic effects of immobile bubble surface and the suppression of coalescence in the surfactant *** addition,with the presence of electric charge,MNBs in anionic surfactant solutions were smaller and higher in number than in non-ionic surfactant ***,the accumulation of surfactant on the gas-liquid interface was more conspicuous for small MNB,so the reduction of kL in anionic surfactant solutions was larger than that in non-ionic surfactant ***,the modified Frossling's model predicted the effect of surfactant on kL in MNB aeration system with reasonable accuracy.

Prevention of urinary tract infection using a silver alloy hydrogel-coated catheter in critically ill patients: A single-center prospective randomized controlled study

Background:A new type of silver alloy hydrogel-coated(SAH)catheter has been shown to prevent bacterial adhesion and colonization by generating a microcurrent,and to block the retrograde infection ***,these have only been confirmed in ordinary *** study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a SAH catheter for preventing urinary tract infections in critically ill ***:This was a prospective single-center,single-blind,randomized,controlled study.A total of 132 patients requiring indwelling catheterization in the intensive care unit(ICU)of the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China between October 2022 and February 2023 and who met the study inclusion/exclusion criteria were randomly divided into two *** in the SAH catheter group received a SAH catheter,while patients in the conventional catheter group received a conventional siliconized latex Foley *** main outcome measure was the incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infections(CAUTIs).Secondary outcome indicators included urine positivity for white blood cells and positive urine cultures on 3 days,7 days,10 days,and 14 days after catheterization,number of viable bacteria in the catheter biofilm on day 14,pathogenic characteristics of positive urine cultures,length of ICU stay,overall hospital stay,ICU mortality,and 28-day *** the data were compared between the two ***:A total of 68 patients in the conventional catheter group and 64 patients in the SAH catheter group were included in the *** day 7 after catheter placement,the positivity rate for urinary white blood cells was significantly higher in the conventional catheter group than in the SAH catheter group(33.8%vs.15.6%,P=0.016).On day 10,the rates of positive urine cultures(27.9%vs.10.9%,P=0.014)and CAUTIs(22.1%vs.7.8%,P=0.023)were significantly higher in the conventional catheter group than in the SAH catheter *** day 14,the numb

A Novel Multiple DBC-staked units Package to Parallel More Chips for SiC Power Module

Silicon carbide(SiC) power modules play an essential role in the electric vehicle drive system. To improve their performance, reduce their size, and increase production efficiency, this paper proposes a multiple staked direct bonded copper(DBC) unit based power module packaging method to parallel more chips. This method utilizes mutual inductance cancellation effect to reduce parasitic inductance. Because the conduction area in the new package is doubled, the overall area of power module can be reduced. Entire power module is divided into smaller units to enhance manufacture yield, and improve design freedom. This paper provides a detailed design, analysis and fabrication procedure for the proposed package structure. Additionally, this paper offers several feasible solutions for the connection between power terminals and DBC untis. With the structure, 18dies were paralleled for each phase-leg in a econodual size power module. Both simulation and double pulse test results demonstrate that, compared to conventional layouts, the proposed package method has 74.8% smaller parasitic inductance and 34.9% lower footprint.

Recent progress in the deactivation mechanism of zeolite catalysts in methanol to olefins

Methanol to olefins(MTO) as an important reaction in C1 chemistry can effectively transform non-petroleum carbon resources into value-added chemicals. Zeolites have been widely used as MTO catalysts. However, they usually suffer from a rapid deactivation due to bulky coke species production, and thus require continuous regenerations in industrial application. The key to design and develop highly stable zeolite catalysts for MTO process is to unravel the deactivation mechanism and clarify the structure–performance relationship of catalysts. Here, in this mini-review, we investigate the critical intermediate species inducing zeolite deactivation and analyze the formation and evolution pathways of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)that are the precursors of carbonaceous deposits. In addition, some methods to alleviate the coking mainly including acid regulation, morphology modification and process optimization, are also summarized.

Influence of sea-land breeze on the formation and dissipation of severe dense fog and its burst reinforcement in the Yellow Sea coastal area,China

Based on the global reanalysis data of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP)/National Center for Atmospheric Research,the surface meteorological observation data,sounding data and satellite observation data,this paper comprehensively analyzes the evolution process and formation mechanism of a persistent severe dense fog process occurred on February 15–17,2015 in Yancheng,eastern *** the numerical simulation experiment of Weather Research and Forecast(WRF)model,we further analyze the impact of sea-land breeze on the formation and burst reinforcement of *** show that the precipitation caused by the southwesterly airflow in front of the upper-level trough and the low-pressure inverted trough are conducive to the formation of early rain fog,while the nighttime clear radiance under the control of surface cold high and the infiltration of weak cold advection are conducive to the formation and development of later radiation-advection *** WRF model simulates the fog evolution process,which is basically consistent with the actual fog area,and the simulation results are credible to a certain *** simulation results show that the establishment of sea breeze has an advection cooling effect on the near surface layer,which is conducive to the formation and development of the inversion layer on the near surface,providing stable stratification conditions for the formation and burst reinforcement of *** one hand,the strengthening of sea breeze circulation can continuously transport water vapor to the study *** the other,the occurrence of ultra-low level jet is favorable for the accumulation of low-level water *** the same time,the inversion intensity further strengthens,which is in favor of the burst reinforcement and long-term maintenance of fog.

Ginsenoside Rg3 Promotes the Survival and Migration of Trophoblast Cells in a Rat Model of Gestational Hypertension by Regulating miR-100a/Insulin Growth Factor-2 Axis
