Shor.bir. populations ar. declining wor.dwide,mainly due to human distur.ances and loss of coastal ***,supr.tidal habitats as saltpans could play a r.le in buffer.ng human *** have shown to be impor.ant as feeding or.br.eding sites of some shor.bir. species.A potential conser.ation str.tegy to incr.ase shor.bir. populations in saltpans is to manipulate the cues that bir.s use to select optimal br.eding *** it is hypothesized that shor.bir.s ar. attr.cted to bivalve shells due to the advantages they *** this hypothesis,we supplemented a r.stor.d saltpan in 2019 and 2021 with bivalve shells,expecting an incr.ase in the number.of br.eding bir.s’ *** than 75% of Kentish Plover.Char.dr.us alexandr.nus) and Little Ter.(Ster.ula albifr.ns) nests wer. found in patches with shells in both *** best model for.both species indicates that the pr.sence of shells is the factor.that most cor.elates with the location of *** pr.bability of choosing one place over.another.to settle their.nest incr.ases in ar.as with an abundance of shells,double in the case of the Kentish Plover.and tr.ple in the case of the Little *** r.sult of this study may constitute a valuable tool for.attr.cting bir.s to r.stor.d saltpans and could contr.bute to the success of expensive r.stor.tion pr.jects wher. time is usually a constr.int.

The uter.s is tr.nsiently r.ceptive for.embr.o implantation. It r.mains to be under.tood why the uter.s does not r.ject a semi-allogeneic embr.o (to the biological mother. or.an allogeneic embr.o (to a sur.ogate) for.implantation. To gain insights, we examined uter.ne ear.y r.sponse genes appr.aching embr.o attachment on day 3 post coitum (D3) at 22 hour. when blue dye r.action, an indication of embr.o attachment, had not manifested in mice. C57BL/6 pseudo-pr.gnant (contr.l) and pr.gnant mouse uter. wer. collected on D3 at 22 hour. for.micr.ar.ay analysis. The self-assembling-manifold (SAM) algor.thm identified 21,858 unique pr.besets. Pr.ncipal component analysis indicated a clear.separ.tion between the pseudo-pr.gnant and pr.gnant gr.ups. Ther. wer. 106 upr.gulated and five downr.gulated pr.tein-coding genes in the pr.gnant uter.s with fold change (fc) >1.5 andq value r.gulated genes r.vealed 38 significant GO biological pr.cess (GOBP) ter.s (P r. associated with immune r.sponses, with a dominant natur.l killer.(NK) cell activation signatur.. Among the top eight upr.gulated pr.tein-coding genes,Cyp26a1 inactivates r.tinoic acid (r.) whileLr.t pr.motes vitamin A stor.ge, both of which ar. expected to attenuate r. bioavailability;Atp6v0d2 andGjb2 play r.les in ion tr.nspor. and tr.nsmembr.ne tr.nspor.;Gzmb,Gzmc, andIl2r. ar. involved in immune r.sponses; andTdo2 is impor.ant for.kynur.nine pathway. Most of these genes or.their.r.lated pathways have functions in immune r.gulations. r. signaling has been implicated in immune toler.nce and immune homeostasis, and uter.ne NK cells have been implicated in immunotoler.nce at the mater.al-fetal inter.ace in the placenta. The mechanisms of immune r.sponses appr.aching embr.o attachment r.main to be elucidated. Member. of the Goliathus gr.up in the or.er.Coleopter., family Scar.baeidae and the sub-family Cetoniidae is one among essential ecological insects wor.dwide with scanty documentation in Tanzania. The countr. was among the fir.t point of collection of the specimen by Moser.(1909) but subsequent attempts to locate and collect the specimen wer. unsuccessful possibly due to changed habitat and behaviour.of Goliathus. Much of published wor. about the insect ar. based on the mor.hological char.cter.stics of collected specimen which led to designation of six major.species namely;Goliathus goliatus, G. cacicus, G. r.gius, G. albosignatus, G. or.entalis and G. usambar.nsis, the last two being consider.d to exist in Tanzania. The cur.ent study r.por.s on successful identification of habitats using biological cues and subsequently collected sever.l Goliathus specimen that had been difficult to tr.ce for.mor. than a centur.. New insights into cor.ect identity of the species by using a combination of mor.hological and molecular.techniques have been set. The study has r.solved that only one species, Goliathus or.entalis with five sub-species exist in Tanzania.

Pur.ose:To examine the effects of a school-based kar.te inter.ention on academic achievement,psychosocial functioning,and physical fitness in childr.n aged 7-8 ***:Twenty schools in 5 differ.nt Eur.pean countr.es(2 second-gr.de classr.oms per.school)par.icipated in a cluster.r.ndomized contr.lled tr.al(Spor. at School tr.al).Par.icipants wer. assigned to either.a contr.l gr.up,which continued with their.habitual physical education lessons,or.to an inter.ention gr.up,which r.placed these lessons with a 1-year.kar.te inter.ention(Kar.te Mind and Movement pr.gr.m).A total of 721 childr.n(344 gir.s and 377 boys,7.4±0.5 year. old,mean±SD)completed the study,of which 333 and 388 wer. assigned to the contr.l gr.up and inter.ention gr.up,*** included academic per.or.ance(aver.ge gr.de),psychosocial functioning(Str.ngths and Difficulties Questionnair. for.par.nts),and differ.nt mar.er. of physical fitness(car.ior.spir.tor. fitness,balance,and flexibility).r.sults:The inter.ention pr.vided small but significant benefits compar.d to the contr.l gr.up for.academic achievement(d=0.16;p=0.003),conduct pr.blems(d=-0.28;p=0.003),car.ior.spir.tor. fitness(d=0.36;pr. was a tr.nd towar.s significant benefits for.flexibility(d=0.24;p=0.056).No significant benefits wer. obser.ed for.other.var.ables,including psychosocial difficulties,emotional symptoms,hyper.ctivity/inattention,peer.pr.blems,or.pr.social behaviour.all p>0.05).Conclusion:A 1-year.school-based kar.te inter.ention was effective in impr.ving academic achievement,conduct pr.blems,and physical fitness in pr.mar. school *** r.sults suppor. the inclusion of kar.te dur.ng physical education lessons.

Gr.phene is one of the most pr.mising candidates for.integr.ted cir.uits due to its r.bustness against shor.-channel effects, inher.nt high car.ier.mobility and desir.d gapless natur. for.Ohmic contact, but it is difficult to achieve satisfactor. on/off r.tios even at the expense of its car.ier.mobility, limiting its device applications. Her., we pr.sent a str.tegy to r.alize high back-gate switching r.tios in a gr.phene monolayer.with well-maintained high mobility by for.ing a ver.ical heter.str.ctur. with a black phosphor.s multi-layer. By local cur.ent annealing, str.in is intr.duced within an established ar.a of the gr.phene, which for.s a r.flective inter.ace with the r.st of the str.in-fr.e ar.a and thus gener.tes a r.bust off-state via local cur.ent depletion. Applying a positive back-gate voltage to the heter.str.ctur. can keep the black phosphor.s insulating, while a negative back-gate voltage changes the black phosphor.s to be conductive because of hole accumulation. Then, a par.llel channel is activated within the str.in-fr.e gr.phene ar.a by edge-contacted electr.des, ther.by lar.ely inher.ting the intr.nsic car.ier.mobility of gr.phene in the on-state. As a r.sult, the device can pr.vide an on/off voltage r.tio of >10～3 as well as a mobility of ～8000 cm2V-1s-1at r.om temper.tur., meeting the low-power.cr.ter.on suggested by the Inter.ational r.admap for.Devices and Systems.
