Effect of autologous serum after amniotic membrane transplantation for persistent corneal ulcers

AIM:To investigate the effect of adding autologous serum eye drops to the postoperative regime after amniotic membrane transplantation for severe persistent corneal ***:Forty eyes of 40 patients with persistent corneal ulcers were randomly assigned to artificial tears(sodium hyaluronate 0.2%,ATs group,n=20)or autologous serum eye drops(ASEds,n=20)following treatment with amniotic membrane *** slit lamp images were acquired from all patients before and 30d post *** area with fibrovascular tissue was calculated using Image *** corneal sensitivity was assessed by Cochet-Bonnet aesthesiometry before and one month after *** tissue transparency was assessed with a novel optical ***:Mean age of patients was 61.65±16.47y and 57.3±19.11y in the ATs group and ASEds group,***-two male and 18 female patients were included in the *** improvement in visual acuity was significantly greater in the ASEds group(0.14±0.04)than the ATs(0.08±0.04;P=0.00046).Cochet-Bonnet aesthesiometry improved significantly after treatment with a similar rate between *** were no statistically significant differences in the area of postoperative fibrovascular tissue between the two groups(P=0.082).The success rate in the two groups was *** difference in densitometry between the ATs and ASEds group was statistically significant(P=0.042)with greater reduction from baseline in the ASEdS ***:Autologous serum eye drops can lead to better visual acuity,more stable results and improved densitometry and should be considered in the postoperative care following amniotic membrane transplantation.

Objective: The morphology and functions of the proximal and distal large intestine are not the same. The incidence of colorectal cancer in these regions is also different, as tumors more often appear in the descending colon than in the ascending *** bowel disease and colorectal cancer can increase transepithelial permeability, which is a sign of reduced intestinal barrier function. However, there is not enough evidence to establish a connection between the difference in colorectal cancer incidence in the proximal and distal colon and intestinal permeability or the effects of carcinogenesis on the barrier properties in various areas of the colon. The aim of the study was to assess the permeability of different segments of the large intestine according to a developed mapping methodology in healthy rats and rats with 1,2-dimethylhydrazine(dMH)-induced colon ***: The short circuit current, the transepithelial electrical resistance and the paracellular permeability to fluorescein of large intestine wall of male Wistar rats were examined in the Ussing chambers. The optical density of the solution from the serosa side to assess the concentration of the diffused fluorescein from mucosa to serosa was analyzed by spectrophotometry. The morphometric and histological studies were performed by optical ***: Rats with dMH-induced colon adenocarcinomas showed elevated transepithelial electrical resistance in the areas of neoplasm development. The alternations of sedimentogenic and asedimentogenic belts on the continental shelf and slope are distinctive features in the East Asia marginal *** sedimentogenesis characteristics areconditioned by the terrigenous material supply and their distribution patterns. Facial analysis of the marginal basins reveals a number of typical facial models which are comparablewith the geosynclinal and subplatform formations of the ancient basins. The paragenetical situation and simultaneous coexistence of these facial models in the modern margi-nal seas indicate that the ancient formation could be deposited in the same way,at the same time andeven in the same basin.

High penetration of distributed renewable energy sources and electric vehicles(EVs)makes future active distribution network(AdN)highly *** characteristics put great challenges to traditional voltage control *** control based on the deep Q-network(dQN)algorithm offers a potential solution to this problem because it possesses humanlevel control ***,the traditional dQN methods may produce overestimation of action reward values,resulting in degradation of obtained *** this paper,an intelligent voltage control method based on averaged weighted double deep Q-network(AWddQN)algorithm is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of overestimation of action reward values in dQN algorithm and underestimation of action reward values in double deep Q-network(ddQN)*** the proposed method,the voltage control objective is incorporated into the designed action reward values and normalized to form a markov decision process(MdP)model which is solved by the AWddQN *** designed AWddQN-based intelligent voltage control agent is trained offline and used as online intelligent dynamic voltage regulator for the *** proposed voltage control method is validated using the IEEE 33-bus and 123-bus systems containing renewable energy sources and EVs,and compared with the dQN and ddQN algorithms based methods,and traditional mixed-integer nonlinear program based *** simulation results show that the proposed method has better convergence and less voltage volatility than the other ones.

In the Bayesian mixture modeling framework it is possible to infer the necessary number of components to model the data and therefore it is unnecessary to explicitly restrict the number of components. Nonparametric mixture models sidestep the problem of finding the ＂correct＂ number of mixture components by assuming infinitely many components. In this paper dirichlet process mixture （dPM） models are cast as infinite mixture models and inference using markov chain Monte Carlo is described. The specification of the priors on the model parameters is often guided by mathematical and practical convenience. The primary goal of this paper is to compare the choice of conjugate and non-conjugate base distributions on a particular class of dPM models which is widely used in applications, the dirichlet process gaussian mixture model （dPgMM）. We compare computational efficiency and modeling performance of dPgMM defined using a conjugate and a conditionally conjugate base distribution. We show that better density models can result from using a wider class of priors with no or only a modest increase in computational effort.

Temporally weighted regression models with a spatial autoregressive component may estimate nonlinearities in spatiotemporal-sampled data of Culex quinquefasciatus, a major vector of West Nile Virus (WNV) which can help implement control strategies by determining optimal predictors associated to prolific habitats. The design of this kind of mixed model can specifically incorporate spatial autocorrelation whilst including the influence of other aspatial predictor variables. Currently, the lack of an estimation theory that allows for het- eroscedasticity and corresponding joint hypothesis testing in the presence of spatial dependence in georefer- enced Cx. quinquefasciatus habitat data is a serious shortcoming in WNV research. In this paper we used spatially lagged and simultaneous autoregressive models based on multiple predictor variables of immature Cx. quinquefasciatus and Worldview 1 (WV-1) data to help implant a remote habitat-based surveillance sys- tem in Trinidad. Initially, we used geomatica Ortho Engine? v. 10.2 for extracting a digital Elevation Model (dEM) from the WV-1 raw imagery. Results of the dEM analyses indicated a statistically significant inverse linear relationship between total sampled Cx. quinquefasciatus data and elevation (m) (R2 = -0.439;p dard deviation of 10.41. Additional field-sampled information was derived using data from an or-thogonal grid-matrix constructed in an ArcInfo 9.3? and overlaid onto the WV-1 data. A unique identifier was placed in the centroid of each grid cell. Univariate statistics and Poisson regression models were then generated using the georeferenced covariates in SAS/gIS?. Coefficient estimates were also used to define expectations for prior distributions in a Bayesian estimation matrix using markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) specifications. A spatial residual trend analyses was then performed using autocorrelation indices which linked tabular data in SAS PROCLMIXEd? with the egg-raft count data
