The objective of this work was to study the in vivo time course of biochemical processes of oxidative damage in the brain of Sprague-Dawley rats that received an acute overload of the redox active metals iron(Fe)and copper(Cu),and the redox inactive cobalt(Co)and nickel(Ni).Oxidative stress indicators(phospholipid and protein oxidation),glutathione(GSH),antioxidant enzymes and NADPH oxidase activities,and the plasma inflam-matory cytokine(IL-6)were *** results showed that in brain oxidative mechanisms for both sets of metal are different,however in both cases are *** mechanism for Fe and Cu oxidative damage is mediated by the generation of the free radical hydroxyl(Fenton reaction and homolytic cleavage of hydroperoxides).Two events of antioxidant protection prior to oxidation of phospholipids and proteins by Fe and Cu are *** first process is the use of GSH and the second is the increased activity of the Cu,Zn-SOD and catalase *** oxidative mechanism for metal redox inactive is the consumption of GSH,NADPH oxidase activation and inflammatory response mediated by *** increased protein oxidation as a result of the inflammatory *** produced increments of phospholipid oxidation and SOD activity.

The ability to accurately predict urban traffic flows is crucial for optimising city ***,various methods for forecasting urban traffic have been developed,focusing on analysing historical data to understand complex mobility *** learning techniques,such as graph neural networks(GNNs),are popular for their ability to capture spatio-temporal ***,these models often become overly complex due to the large number of hyper-parameters *** this study,we introduce Dynamic Multi-Graph Spatial-Temporal Graph Neural Ordinary Differential Equation Networks(DMST-GNODE),a framework based on ordinary differential equations(ODEs)that autonomously discovers effective spatial-temporal graph neural network(STGNN)architectures for traffic prediction *** comparative analysis of DMST-GNODE and baseline models indicates that DMST-GNODE model demonstrates superior performance across multiple datasets,consistently achieving the lowest Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)and Mean Absolute Error(MAE)values,alongside the highest *** the BKK(Bangkok)dataset,it outperformed other models with an RMSE of 3.3165 and an accuracy of 0.9367 for a 20-min interval,maintaining this trend across 40 and 60 ***,on the PeMS08 dataset,DMST-GNODE achieved the best performance with an RMSE of 19.4863 and an accuracy of 0.9377 at 20 min,demonstrating its effectiveness over longer *** Los_Loop dataset results further emphasise this model’s advantage,with an RMSE of 3.3422 and an accuracy of 0.7643 at 20 min,consistently maintaining superiority across all time *** numerical highlights indicate that DMST-GNODE not only outperforms baseline models but also achieves higher accuracy and lower errors across different time intervals and datasets.

Maximising access to and the success of fertility treatments should be a priority for global reproductive health,as should overall patient *** demand for in vitro fertilization(IVF)and other assisted fertility treatments has increased over the past decade and is likely to further increase in years to ***,there is still considerable unmet demand for infertility support ***,the high emotional,physical and financial burden experienced by individuals undergoing IVF cycles can be a risk for their mental and physical health,which in turn can influence treatment continuation and the likelihood of IVF *** from various parts of the world show that most individuals undergoing IVF also use adjunct alternative medicines and procedures,the most common being traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).The complementary and synergistic role of TCM for individuals undergoing IVF is an area that merits further attention and research,both for its potential positive effects on IVF success rates and for its broader physical and mental health ***,much of the existing evidence is not sufficiently robust or consistent for findings to be adopted with *** commentary argues that much work must be done to understand the efficacy and clinical best practices for these integrated *** can be achieved in part by developing more robust and clinically relevant randomized controlled trial protocols,collecting and triangulating evidence through a variety of study designs and methods,and strengthening the collection and pooling of clinic-level data.

Demographic changes in peripheral areas are pressuring the regional public transport systems to adopt innovative *** employment of internet of things(IoT)technologies has proven to be a valid response to mobility challenges in rural areas,and has brought up the concept of"smart land".Framed within the context of the Interreg Central Europe project RUMOBIL,this study tries to shed light on how the deployment of smart mobility solutions within the rural context compare to that within the urban *** a literature review,we compared the ease of implementation of different IoT solutions on the urban and the rural contexts,for planners,travellers,and operators,and the relative complexity of common smart mobility *** addition,we identified three major challenges for both rural and urban mobility,namely the need for standardized metrics for optimal routes’detection and a dynamic definition of optimal route,as well as the simplification of investments’planning and *** smart cities and smart land can benefit from smart mobility solutions,even if in most cases,each of the two contexts can gain more advantages than the other from the same *** considering the different levels of population scattering,technological infrastructures,social maturity,and economic opportunities,both rural and urban areas offer comparable *** the future of transport,it is up to all policy levels to consider the challenges deriving from expected trends and leverage the untapped potential of IoT technologies to satisfy future travellers’needs and ensure sustainability.

This study investigated the adsorption of Hg（Ⅱ） on Macrocystis pyrifera and Undaria pinnatifida in monometallic system in the presence of Zn（II）,Cd（Ⅱ） and Ni（II）.The two biosorbents reached the same maximum sorption capacity （q m = 0.8 mmol/g） for *** showed a greater affinity （given by the coefficient b of the Langmuir equation） for mercury compared to *** （4.4 versus 2.7 L/mmol）.Mercury uptake was significantly reduced （by more than 50%） in the presence of competitor heavy metals such as Zn（II）,Cd（II） and Ni（Ⅱ）.Samples analysis using an environmental scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis showed that mercury was heterogeneously adsorbed on the surface of both biomaterials,while the other heavy metals were homogeneous *** analysis of biosorbents by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry indicated that Hg（Ⅱ） binding occurred on S=O （sulfonate） and N-H （amine） functional groups.

Studies of metabolic variation in birds have involved both wild and captive individuals, but few studies have investi- gated whether captivity directly influences metabolic rates, despite such variation potentially confounding conclusions regarding how metabolic rates respond to the conditions under study. In addition, whether short-term captivity influences metabolic rate re- peatability in birds is currently uninvestigated. In this study, we measured Msum （maximal cold-induced metabolic rates） in sum- mer acclimatized American goldfinches Spinus tristis directly after capture from wild populations, after approximately 2 weeks of indoor captivity （Captive 1）, and again after an additional 1-2 weeks of captivity （Captive 2）. M~ increased significantly （16.9%） following the initial captive period, but remained stable thereafter. Body mass （Mb） also increased significantly （9.2%） during the initial captive period but remained stable thereafter, suggesting that muscle growth and/or remodeling of body composition pro- duced the observed metabolic variation. Mb and Msum were not significantly repeatable between wild and Captive 1 birds, but were significantly repeatable between Captive 1 and Captive 2 groups. These data suggest that caution must be exercised when extrapolating metabolic rates from short-term captive to wild populations. In addition, Msum was a repeatable trait for birds under conditions where mean metabolic rates remained stable, but Msum repeatability disappeared during acclimation to conditions pro- moting phenotypically flexible metabolic responses. This suggests that the capacity for phenotypic flexibility varies among indi- viduals, and such variation could have fitness consequences

The chemical communication system in Drosophila melanogaster Meigen,1830 plays a major role in courtship and consists of the male-specific cis-Vaccenyl acetate and sex-specific contact pheromones,cuticular hydrocarbons(CHC),which build up during ontogeny(first 4 days).They replace longer CHCs,common to both sexes and present only after the imaginal eclosion.A detailed quantitative description of the evolution of cuticular unsaturated hydrocarbons with age is presented here for males and females of different *** strains,which have been bred in well controlled *** appear in both sexes at around 12 h,before female *** present paper argues that this is likely linked to the switching on of a new set of ***,which is more abundant in females than in males during this critical period,might control this *** behavioral studies show that whereas female of all ages trigger early mature male courtship steps like wing vibration,only females older than 1 day trigger late courtship steps like attempted *** supports the hypothesis that late male courtship steps might be triggered by the CHCs,which build up after this age,especially female-specific(Z,Z)-7,11-and(Z,Z)-5,9-dienes.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, chronic inflam-matory diseases of multifactorial etiology, are the lead-ing cause of death worldwide. In the last decade, more infectious agents, labeled as "infectious burden", rather than any single pathogen, have been showed to con-tribute to the development of atherosclerosis through different mechanisms. Some microorganisms, such as Chlamydia pneumoniae(C. pneumoniae), human cytomegalovirus, etc. may act directly on the arterial wall contributing to endothelial dysfunction, foam cell formation, smooth muscle cell proliferation, platelet ag-gregation as well as cytokine, reactive oxygen specie, growth factor, and cellular adhesion molecule produc-tion. Others, such as Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori), in-fluenza virus, etc. may induce a systemic inflammation which in turn may damage the vascular wall(e.g., by cytokines and proteases). Moreover, another indirect mechanism by which some infectious agents(such as H. pylori, C. pneumoniae, periodontal pathogens, etc.) may play a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclero-sis is molecular mimicry. Given the complexity of the mechanisms by which each microorganism may con-tribute to atherosclerosis, defining the interplay of moreinfectious agents is far more difficult because the pro-atherogenic effect of each pathogen might be ampli-fied. Clearly, continued research and a greater aware-ness will be helpful to improve our knowledge on the complex interaction between the infectious burden and atherosclerosis.
