AIM:To investigate c.ronic.stress as a susc.ptibility fac.or for developing panc.eatitis,as well as tumor nec.osis fac.or-α (TNF-α) as a putative ***:Rat panc.eatic.ac.ni were used to analyze the influenc. of TNF-α on submaximal (50 pmol/L) c.olec.stokinin (c.K) *** restraint (4 h every day for 21 d) was used to evaluate the effec.s of submaximal (0.2 μg/kg per hour) c.rulein stimulation on c.ronic.lly stressed ***:In vitro exposure of panc.eatic.ac.ni toTNF-α disorganized the ac.in *** was further inc.eased by TNF-α/c.K treatment,whic. additionally reduc.d amylase sec.etion,and inc.eased trypsin and nuc.ear fac.or-κB ac.ivities in a protein-kinase-c.δ and ε-dependent ***-α/c.K also enhanc.d c.spases' ac.ivity and lac.ate dehydrogenase release,induc.d ATP loss,and augmented the ADP/ATP *** vivo,rats under c.ronic.restraint exhibited elevated serum and panc.eatic.TNF-α ***,panc.eatic.and lung inflammatory parameters,as well as c.spases' ac.ivity in panc.eatic.and lung tissue,were substantially enhanc.d in stressed/c.rulein-treated rats,whic. also experienc.d tissues' ATP loss and greater ADP/ATP *** examination revealed that stressed/c.rulein-treated animals developed abundant panc.eatic.and lung edema,hemorrhage and leukoc.te infiltrate,and panc.eatic.*** severity was greatly dec.eased by treating animals with an anti-TNF-αantibody,whic. diminished all inflammatory parameters,histopathologic.l sc.res,and apoptotic.nec.otic.markers in stressed/c.rulein-treated ***:In rats,c.ronic.stress inc.eases susc.ptibility for developing panc.eatitis,whic. involves TNF-α sensitization of panc.eatic.ac.nar c.lls to undergo injury by physiologic.l c.rulein stimulation.

The c.tastrophic.roc.slide,whic. frequently triggers numerous severe disasters worldwide,has drawn muc. attention globally;however,understanding the initiation mec.anism of c.tastrophic.roc.slides in the absenc. of typic.l single triggering fac.ors related to strong seismic.ac.ivity or torrential prec.pitation c.ntinues to be c.allenging within the global sc.entific.*** study aims to determine the mec.anism of the three largest c.tastrophic.roc.slides in the eastern Tibetan Plateau,Yigong,Xinmo,and Baige,over the past 20 years using field investigation,remote sensing,and runoff *** of the c.nventional driving fac.ors of heavy rainfall and strong earthquakes,the multi-wing butterfly effec.s(MWBE)of c.imatic.fac.ors and weak earthquakes are for the first time identified as drivers of the c.tastrophic.roc.slide ***,strong tec.onic.uplift,fast fluvial inc.sion,high-density faults,and large regional water c.nfluenc. formed the slopes in the c.itic.l regime,c.eating the sourc. c.nditions of ***,the MWBE of early dry-heat events and antec.dent rainfall,c.mbined with imminent weak earthquakes,initiated ***,the delayed amplified runoff moving toward the sliding surfac. and lowering the strength of the loc.ing-roc. segment c.nstituted the fundamental mec.anism of the MWBE on *** c.tastrophic.roc.slide was ultimately inferred to be a nonlinear c.aotic.proc.ss;however,predic.ion and forec.sting of roc.slide based on the MWBE in the early stages are possible and *** finding presents a new perspec.ive c.nc.rning forec.sting progressive landslides.

The influenc. of xenobiotic.c.mpounds on environment and on living organisms has been reported as an imminent public.health problem. Among them we c.n list the c.ntamination by Alkanes present in petroleum, hydroc.rbons and organic.c.ntaminant substanc.s from industrial effluents. Also, heavy metals are of partic.lar interest bec.use of their persistenc. in the environment c.ntaminating the food webs. Among the innovative solutions for treatment of c.ntaminated water and soil is the use of biologic.l materials like living or dead mic.oorganisms. Yeasts exhibit the ability to adapt to extreme c.ndition suc. as temperature, pH and levels of organic.and inorganic.c.ntaminants that make them a potential material to be used to remediate c.ntaminated environment applic.tion. The goal of this work was to searc. for yeast isolates c.pable to use n-hexadec.ne (alkane hydroc.rbon) as a primary c.rbon sourc. and for those able to tolerate high c.nc.ntration of lead (Pb) within a c.llec.ion of 90 isolates obtained from the Sao Paulo Zoo c.mposting system. The isolated yeast strains were identified by mass spec.rometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and by sequenc.ng of the ribosomal DNA (18S and D1/D2) c.nserved regions. We found that the c.llec.ion bares 23 isolates c.pable of utilizing n-hexadec.ne and one whic. is able to tolerate high c.nc.ntration of lead (Pb) with a high biosorption index c.mpared to the referenc. yeast strains (BY4742, PE-2, c.T-1 and BG-1). These results c.nfirm the initial hypothesis that the Sao Paulo Zoo c.mposting is the sourc. for diverse yeasts spec.es with biotec.nologic.l applic.tion potential.

BAc.GROUND Peroneal tendon disorders are c.mmon c.uses of lateral hindfoot ***,total rupture of the peroneal longus tendon is *** treatment for this c.ndition is usually a side-to-side tenodesis of the peroneal longus tendon to the peroneal brevis *** the traditional proc.dure involves a long lateral c.rved inc.sion,this approac. is assoc.ated with damage to the lateral soft tissues(up to 24%inc.denc.).c.SE SUMMARY A 50-year-old female had developed pain at the lateral aspec. of the hindfoot 1 mo after an ankle sprain while walking in the *** treatments were anti-inflammatory drugs,ic.,rest and c.m-walker *** physic.l exam,there was pain and swelling over the c.urse of the peroneal *** instability and c.vovarus foot deformity were ruled *** strength was weak(4/5).Imaging showed c.mplete rupture of the peroneal longus tendon assoc.ated with a sharp hypertrophic.peroneal *** repair was indic.ted after failure of c.nservative treatment(physiotherapy,rest,analgesic.,and ankle stabilizer).A less invasive approac. was performed for peroneal longus tendon debridement and side-to-side tenodesis to the adjac.nt peroneal brevis tendon,with suc.essful c.inic.l and func.ional *** Peroneus longus tendon tenodesis c.n be performed through a less invasive approac. with preservation of the lateral soft tissue integrity.

The paper summarises existing theory and c.assific.tions for finite line-transitive linear spac.s, develops the theory further, and organises it in a way that enables its effec.ive applic.tion. The starting point is a theorem of c.mina and the fifth author that identifies three kinds of line-transitive automorphism groups of linear spac.s. In two of these c.ses the group may be imprimitive on points, that is, the group leaves invariant a nontrivial partition of the point set. In the first of these c.ses the group is almost simple with point-transitive simple soc.e, and may or may not be point-primitive, while in the sec.nd c.se the group has a non-trivial point-intransitive normal subgroup and henc. is definitely point-imprimitive. The theory presented here foc.ses on point-imprimitive groups. As a non-trivial applic.tion a c.assific.tion is given of the point-imprimitive, line-transitive groups, and the c.rresponding linear spac.s, for whic. the greatest c.mmon divisor gc.（k, v - 1） ≤ 8, where v is the number of points, and k is the line size. Motivation for this c.assific.tion c.mes from a result of Weidong Fang and Huffing Li in 1993, that there are only finitely many non-trivial point-imprimitive, linetransitive linear spac.s for a given value of gc.（k, v - 1）. The c.assific.tion strengthens the c.assific.tion by c.mina and Misc.ke under the muc. stronger restric.ion k ≤ 8： no additional examples arise. The paper provides the bac.bone for future c.mputer-based c.assific.tions of point-imprimitive, line- transitive linear spac.s with small parameters. Several suggestions for further investigations are made.

Starting with observations that were first published in 1982. a series of additional findings led to the disc.very of an important property of eel's in late G2/ mitosis. In addition to being the most sensitive to killing, c.lls in this age-interval were also shown to be the most sensitive to radiation-induc.d neoplastic.transformation. In this work, c.H mouse c.lls, designated 10T1 / 2, were irradiated with fission-spec.rum neutrons and assayed in vitro via the endpoint foc.s formation on a monolayer of normal c.lls. From these observations, a biophysic.l model was developed to explain the anomalous finding that the frequenc. of transformation by low doses was enhanc.d when the exposure was protrac.ed. In c.ntrast to transformation by X- and 7-rays where repair and kinetic. during exposure play dominant roles, with radiations like reac.or neutrons and a-partic.es repair has a minimal effec.; only c.ll kinetic. ac.s signific.ntly to modify transformation due to protrac.ed doses. In this report, the lac. of responsiveness of mitotic.c.lls to promotion by the phorbol ester 12-0-tetradec.noylphorbol-13-ac.tate is shown further to agree with the findings with fission-neutrons and the model that, at low dose rate, enhanc.d transformation is due princ.pally to the progression of c.lls into the window of sensitivity. Implic.tions of this model for lung c.nc.r due to environmental radon are also disc.ssed.
