Using a home-made Q-plus sensor,simultaneous scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements were performed on the wedge-shaped Pb islands grown on Si(111)-7 × *** resolved AFM images were *** contrast of AFM topography shows no dependence on the sample bias (tip is grounded),while the simultaneously obtained tunneling current image exhibits strong bias dependence due to quantum well states (QWS).Furthermore,In the AFM mode,neighboring Pb films with one monolayer (ML) thickness difference within the same Pb island show the same apparent height,which means that the apparent step heights of Pb films oscillate with a bilayer periodicity,being consistent with previous observations by helium atom scattering,x-ray diffraction,and *** possible reasons underlying the oscillation of apparent step heights in AFM topography are discussed.

Neural networks possess formidable representational power,rendering them invaluable in solving complex quantum many-body *** they excel at analyzing static solutions,nonequilibrium processes,including critical dynamics during a quantum phase transition,pose a greater challenge for neural *** address this,we utilize neural networks and machine learning algorithms to investigate time evolutions,universal statistics,and correlations of topological defects in a one-dimensional transverse-field quantum Ising ***,our analysis involves computing the energy of the system during a quantum phase transition following a linear quench of the transverse magnetic field *** excitation energies satisfy a power-law relation to the quench rate,indicating a proportional relationship between the excitation energy and the kink ***,we establish a universal power-law relationship between the first three cumulants of the kink numbers and the quench rate,indicating a binomial distribution of the ***,the normalized kink-kink correlations are also investigated and it is found that the numerical values are consistent with the analytic formula.

The paper investigates the escape probability for isotropic emitters near a Kerr black *** propose a new approach to obtain the escape probability in a general manner,going beyond previous case-by-case *** approach is based on studies of the black hole shadow with astrometric observable and can be applied to emitters with an arbitrary 4-velocities and locations,even to the emitters outside of the equatorial *** also consider representative examples illustrating how escape probabilities vary with distance,velocity,and inclination ***,this new approach provides an effective method for studying escape probabilities near Kerr black holes.

The medium-temperature T dependence of the jet transport coefficient̂q was studied via the nuclear modification factor RAA(p_(T))and elliptical flow parameter v_(2)(p_(T))for large transverse momentum p_(T) hadrons in high-energy nucleus-nucleus *** a next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD parton model for hard scatterings with modified fragmentation functions due to jet quenching controlled by q,we check the suppression and azimuthal anisotropy for large p_(T) hadrons,and extract q by global fits to RAA(pT)and v_(2)(pT)data in A+A collisions at RHIC and LHC,*** numerical results from the best fits show that q∕T^(3) goes down with local medium-temperature T in the parton jet *** with the case of a constant q∕T^(3),the going-down T dependence of q∕T^(3) makes a hard parton jet to lose more energy near T_(c) and therefore strengthens the azimuthal anisotropy for large pT *** a result,v_(2)(p_(T))for large pT hadrons was enhanced by approximately 10%to better fit the data at RHIC/*** the first-order phase transition from QGP to the hadron phase and the additional energy loss in the hadron phase,v_(2)(p_(T))is again enhanced by 5-10%at RHIC/LHC.

This paper presents a comprehensive framework for analyzing phase transitions in collective models such as the Vicsek model under various noise types. The Vicsek model, focusing on understanding the collective behaviors of social animals, is known due to its discontinuous phase transitions under vector noise. However, its behavior under scalar noise remains less conclusive. Renowned for its efficacy in the analysis of complex systems under both equilibrium and non-equilibrium states, the eigen microstate method is employed here for a quantitative examination of the phase transitions in the Vicsek model under both vector and scalar noises. The study finds that the Vicsek model exhibits discontinuous phase transitions regardless of noise type. Furthermore, the dichotomy method is utilized to identify the critical points for these phase transitions. A significant finding is the observed increase in the critical point for discontinuous phase transitions with escalation of population density.
