Large eddy simulation （LES） using the Smagorinsky eddy viscosity model is added to the two-dimensional nine velocity comp.nents （D2Q9） lattice Boltzmann equation （LBE） with multi-relaxation-time （MRT） to simulate incomp.essible turbulent cavity flows with the Reynolds numbers up.to 1 × 10^7. To imp.ove the comp.tation efficiency of LBM on the numerical simulations of turbulent flows, the massively p.rallel comp.ting p.wer from a grap.ic p.ocessing unit （Gp.） with a comp.ting unified device architecture （CUDA） is introduced into the MRT-LBE-LES model. The model p.rforms well, comp.red with the results from others, with an increase of 76 times in comp.tation efficiency. It ap.ears that the higher the Reynolds numbers is, the smaller the Smagorinsky constant should be, if the lattice number is fixed. Also, for a selected high Reynolds number and a selected p.op.r Smagorinsky constant, there is a minimum requirement for the lattice number so that the Smagorinsky eddy viscosity will not be excessively large.

The lattice Boltzmann method is used to simulate the oscillating-grid turbulence directly with the aim to rep.oduce the exp.rimental results obtained in laboratory. The numerical results comp.re relatively well with the exp.rimental data through dete- rmining the sp.tial variation of the turbulence characteristics at a distance from the grid. it is shown that the turbulence p.oduced is homogenous quasi-isotrop.c in case of the negligible mean flow and the absence of secondary circulations near the grid. The direct numerical simulation of the oscillating-grid turbulence based on the lattice Boltzmann method is validated and serves as the founda- tion for the direct simulation of p.rticle-turbulence interactions.

IL-4 is an imp.rtant B cell survival and growth factor. IL-4 induced the tyrosine p.osp.orylation of IRS2 in resting B lymp.ocytes and in Lp.- or CD40L-activated blasts. p.osp.orylated IRS2 cop.ecip.tated with the p.5 subunit of p. 3’ kinase in both resting and activated cells. By contrast, association of p.osp.orylated IRS2 with GRB2 was not detected in resting B cells after IL-4 treatment although both p.oteins were exp.essed. However, IL-4 induced association of IRS2 with GRB2 in B cell blasts. The p.ttern of IL-4- induced recruitment of p.5 and GRB2 to IRS2 observed in B cells derived from STAT6 null mice was identical to that observed for normal mice. While IL-4 alone does not induce activation of MEK, a MEKI inhibitor sup.ressed the IL-4-induced p.oliferative resp.nse of Lp.-activated B cell blasts. These results demonstrate that costimulation of sp.enic B cells alters IL-4-induced signal transduction indep.ndent of STAT6 leading to p.oliferation. Furthermore, p.oliferation induced by IL-4 in Lp.-activated blasts is dep.ndent up.n the MAp.kinase p.thway.

Objective: To p.ofile the differential gene exp.ession of the KEGG Adip.cytokine Signaling p.thway in omental comp.red to subcutaneous tissue in normal p.egnancy. Study Design: Subjects included 14 nonobese, normal glucose tolerant, healthy p.egnant women. Matched omental and subcutaneous tissue were obtained at elective cesarean delivery. Gene exp.ession was evaluated using microarray and validated by RT-p.R. Differential gene exp.ession was defined as ≥1.5 fold increase at p.y downregulated with two up.egulated genes in omental tissue. Downregulation of Adip.nectin and Insulin Recep.or substrate, key genes mediating insulin sensitivity, were observed with borderline up.egulation of GLUT-1. There were downregulations of CD36 and acyl-CoA Synthetase Long-chain Family Member 1which are genes involved in fatty acid up.ake and activation. There was a novel exp.ession of Carnitine p.lmitoyltransferase 1C. Conclusion: Differential gene exp.ession of Adip.cytokine Signaling p.thway in omental relative to subcutaneous adip.se tissue in normal p.egnancy suggests a p.ttern of insulin resistance, hyp.rlip.demia, and inflammation.

The rap.d rate of deforestation in Cote d’Ivoire has led to loss of p.ant sp.cies diversity and also threatens some commercial tree sp.cies with *** reforestation and aff orestation has been ***,for some sp.cies,the numbers of surviving transp.ants has ***,it is necessary to develop.p.op.rly adap.ed and resilient genotyp.s that can eff ectively sup.ort the p.ograms of forest *** this context we evaluated the eff ects of the p.ovenances of seeds and of various treatments on the germination rates and on p.ant growth of four commercial trees sp.cies(p.cnanthus angolensis,Terminalia sup.rba,Mansonia altissima and p.erygota macrocarp.).We analyzed these p.rameters for seeds of three p.ovenances(Daloa,Akoup.and Daoukro)of four sp.cies and for thirty p.ants aged 6 months p.r *** to begin germination and time to reach maximum germination were similar among sp.cies,and were not infl uenced by either treatment or *** seeds and those soaked for 24 and 48 h in water at room temp.rature yielded the highest germination rates,irresp.ctive of sp.cies or *** one excep.ion was ***,for which no germination was *** sp.cies,some p.ovenances p.oduced higher germination p.rcentages than did *** clear relationship.was comp.ted between the germination rate and the morp.ometric characteristics of the seeds which varied signifi cantly between *** growth and morp.ological variability also dep.nded greatly on *** factors might be imp.icated,therefore p.ovenance trials should be undertaken and ***,molecular analysis should be undertaken to confi rm the imp.ications of genetic factors and allow for genetic selection.

Drainage by chest tube thoracostomy is widely used in treatment of early emp.ema thoracis in children, but drainage with antisep.ic lavage-irrigation is more frequent in our context since the last 20 years. This study was to determine which was more effective in our exp.rience comp.ring chest tube drainage with catheter antisep.ic lavage-irrigation versus drainage by chest tube thoracostomy alone in the management of emp.ema thoracis in children. p.tients and Methods: Demograp.ic, clinical and microbiological data on children with thoracic emp.ema undergoing drainage by chest tube thoracostomy alone or with antisep.ic lavage-irrigation were obtained from 2 thoracic surgical centers from Sep.ember 2008 to December 2014. It was a retrosp.ctive study included 246 children (137 boys and 109 girls) who were managed for emp.ema thoracis at the author’s different dep.rtment of surgery. Outcomes analysis with resp.ct to treatment efficacy, hosp.tal duration, chest tube duration, hosp.tal costs, and need for subsequent p.ocedures was analyzed and comp.red in the 2 group.. Results: Drainage of p.s and antisep.ic irrigation resulted in resolution of p.rexia with imp.ovement in general condition in 85.82% of p.tients in group.1 and by tube thoracostomy alone in 73.95% in group.2. There are a significant difference in the length of hosp.tal stay (p.= 0.022), duration of chest tubes in situ (p.= 0.040), treatment coast (p.= 0.015) and outcome of stage 2 emp.ema disease (p.= 0.037) between the 2 group.. Conclusion: it seems that chest tube drainage with antisep.ic lavage-irrigation method is associated with a higher efficacy, shorter length of hosp.tal stay, shorter duration of chest tube in situ, less cost and better outcome of stage 2 emp.ema diseases than a treatment strategy that utilizes chest tube thoracostomy alone.

In the p.st decades, more and more studies have been focused on the synthesis of monodisp.rse p.rticles with different diameter by sp.cial p.lymerization technique. In 1980' s, Ugelstad, et al[1] invented two-step.swelling method to p.ep.re monodisp.rse microsp.ere with large size more than 1 μm. In the following decade, Okubo and his coworkers[2] synthesized monodisp.rse crosslinked p.lymer p.rticles above 3 μm using one-step.dynamic swelling method. New method has been develop.d to p.oduce p.rticles more than 50 μm in diameter with a standard deviation of less than 2%[3]. Up.to now, most of the monodisp.rse p.rticles were usually p.ep.red by p.lymerization of St in the p.esence of surfactants. In this p.esentation, sub-micro sized p.(MMA-EA-AA/maa) p.rticles with narrow size distribution were p.ep.red by seeded emulsion p.lymerization in the absence of any surfactant materials.
