The glacial history of Pico de Orizaba indicates that during the Last Glacial maximum,its icecap covered up to~3000 m asl;due to the air temperature increasing,its main glacier has retreated to 5050 m *** retraction of the glacier has left behind an intense climatic instability that causes a high frequency of freeze-thaw cycles of great intensity;the resulting geomorphological processes are represented by the fragmentation of the bedrock that occupies the upper parts of the *** is a notable lack of studies regarding the fragmentation and erosion occurring in tropical high mountains,and the associated geomorphological risks;for this reason,as a first stage of future continuous research,this study analyzes the freezing and thawing cycles that occur above 4000 m asl,through continuous monitoring of surface ground *** results allow us to identify and characterize four zones:glacial,paraglacial,periglacial and *** was found that the paraglacial zone presents an intense drop of temperature,of up to~9℃ in only sixty *** rock fatigue and intense freeze-thaw cycles that occur in this area are responsible for the high rate of rock disintegration and represent the main factor of the constant slope dynamics that occur at the *** activity decreases,both in frequency and intensity,according to the distance to the glacier,which is where the temperature presents a certain degree of stability,until reaching the proglacial zone,where cycles are almost non-existent,and therefore there is no gelifraction *** geomorphological processes have resulted in significant alterations to the mountain slopes,which can have severe consequences in terms of risk and water.

Despite being within the intertropical region of the planet,the mexican territory still has glacier-covered *** recent decades,important advances have been made in studies on glaciology and periglacial environment in mexico both for current and past ***,in spite of Cofre de Perote volcano(4200 m a.s.l.)being a strategically located mountain,it has not yet been studied in regards to the glacial and periglacial processes;in fact,those dynamics have modified the mountain massifs in the *** complement the series of studies on glacial history in the high mountain environment of méxico,this study reconstructs the glacial cover and the periglacial environment of the volcano surface during the final stage of the Late Pleistocene based on climatic retrospective and through the identification of geomorphological *** findings indicate the existence of a large glacier(ice cap)that covered the northern,western,and southern slopes of the mountain;while in the eastern sector there were two small glaciers,one being of cirque type,and the other of valley *** current temperature conditions prevent the occurrence of permanent ice bodies;at the same time,it was found that the periglacial blockfields of the slopes is a legacy of the climatic conditions that prevailed at the end of Late Pleistocene.

Disaster-hit and/or un-electrifed remote areas usually have electricity accessibility issues and an abundance of plant-derived debris and wood from destroyed wooden structures;this can be potentially addressed by employing a decentralized ultrasmall biomass-fed gasifcation power generating *** paper presents an assessment of the technical viability of an ultra-small gasifcation system that utilizes densifed carbonized wood pellets/*** setup was run continuously for 100 h.A variety of biomass was densifed and carbonized by harnessing fugitive heat sources before charging into the *** briquettes and furnished blends exhibited inferior gasifcation performance compared to the carbonized *** the absence of tar blockage problems,steady-state conditions were achieved when pre-treated feedstock was *** steady-state conditions for carbonized pellets gasifcation operated at an equivalence ratio of 0.32,cold gas efciency and carbon conversion achieved 49.2%and 70.5%,*** efciency and maximum power output of 20.3%and 21 kW were realised,*** was found that the system could keep stable while the low heating valve of syngas was over 4 mJ/m^(3)on condition that avoiding tar blocking *** results indicate that the proposed compact ultra-small power generation system is a technically feasible approach to remedy power shortage *** addition,process simulation considering carbonized wood gasifcation combined power generation was formulated to produce syngas and *** pellets with the fow rate of 20 kg/h could generate a 15.18 kW power at the air fow rate of 40 Nm^(3)/h,which is in a good agreement with 15 kW in the 100 h *** is indicated that the gasifcation combined power generation cycle simulated by Aspen simulator could achieve reliable data to assist the complicated experiment operation.

Heat treatment of metal-organic frameworks(mOFs)has provided a wide variety of functional carbons coordinated with metal *** this study,two kinds of zinc-based mOF(ZmOF),C_(16)H_(10)O_(4)Zn(ZmOF1)and C_(8)H_(4)O_(4)Zn(ZmOF2),were ***1 and ZmOF2 were carbonized at 1000℃,forming CZmOF1 and CZmOF2,*** specific surface area(S_(BET))of CZmOF2 was~2700 m^(2)g^(−1),much higher than that of CZmOF1(~1300 m^(2)g^(−1)).A supercapacitor electrode based on CZmOF2 achieved specific capacitances of 360,278,and 221 F g^(−1)at 50,250,and 1000 mA g^(−1)in an aqueous electrolyte(H2SO_(4)),respectively,the highest values reported to date for ZmOF-derived electrodes under identical *** practical applicability of the CZmOF-based supercapacitor was verified in non-aqueous *** initial capacitance retention was 78%after 100000 charge/discharge cycles at 10 A g^(−1).Crucially,the high capacitance of CZmOF2 arises from pore generation during *** 1000℃,pore generation is dominated by the Zn/C ratio of ZmOFs,as carbon atoms reduce the zinc oxides formed during *** 1000℃,a high O/C ratio becomes essential for pore generation because the oxygen functional groups are *** findings will provide insightful information for other metal-based mOFderived multifunctional carbons.

We have been studying various types of computer-generated holograms for three-dimensional （3D） displays both for a real-time holographic video display and a hard copy, or a printed hologram. For the hard copy output, we have developed a direct fringe printer, which is achieved to print over 100 gigapixels computer-generated hologram with 0.44μm pitch. In this paper, we introduce our recent progresses on the rainbow hologram, the cylindrical holograms, and the disk hologram for 3D display.

The aim of this study was to isolate algicidal bacteria so as to control harmful cyanobacterium microcystis aeruginosa （m. aeruginosa） blooms using biological methods. Nine bacterial strains were isolated to inhibit the growth ofm. aeruginosa, among which the mail 1-5 bacterial strain exhibited remarkable algicidal activity against m. aeruginosa cells during the test. Based on the 16S rDNA analysis, the isolated mail 1-5 was identified as Pedobacter sp. through morphology and homology research. The results of cocultivation of the cyanobacteria with maI 11-5 algicidal isolates showed obvious algicidal activity against cyanobacterial cells. The algicidal effect of mail 1-5 exceeded 50% after two days, exceeded 70% after four days, and reached 80% after seven days. The observation results with a scanning electron microscope showed that the cyanobacterial cells aggregated and produced mucous-like substances when cocultivated with the algicidal bacteria. The results indicated that the mail 1-5 bacterial strain may possess a novel function for controlling harmful blooms and further studies will provide new insights into its role in water environment.
