Biomass-derived carbon doping to enhance the current carrying capacity and flux pinning of an isotopic mg^(11)B_(2)superconductor

Low activation isotopic boron(11B)based magnesium diboride(mg^(11)B_(2))superconductors doped with biomass-derived activated carbon were synthesized using11B and magnesium powder via solid-state *** effect of carbon doping on the lattice structure and superconducting properties of mg^(11)B_(2)bulks were evaluated using X-ray powder diffraction,high resolution transmission electron microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and magnetization *** refinement of structural parameters indicates successful substitution of carbon in mg^(11)B_(2)*** critical current density(Jc)of carbon doped mg^(11)B_(2)synthesized at 650℃was enhanced more than two times compared with the pure mg^(11)B_(2)*** improvement was observed for the mg^(11)B_(2)bulks heat-treated at 800℃.This enhancement is due to successful substitution of biomass-derived carbon with high surface area into mg^(11)B_(2)*** flux pinning mechanism of pure and doped mg^(11)B_(2)bulks were investigated using the Dew-Hughes *** study provides information regarding enhancement of the Jc of low activation mg^(11)B_(2)superconductors suitable for next-generation fusion magnets.

Prediction of airway resistance in panel cave mines using a discrete and continuum model

The configuration of an airway(or production drift)in panel cave mines is different from the typical(straight)mine airway *** drawpoints are connected to the airway(cross-cuts),which allows airflow from the cave into the airway or air loss from the airway into the cave due to the ventilation approach and cave *** affect airflow in the production drifts,but it is difficult to investigate these conditions from field or laboratory scaled ***,this study develops discrete and continuum computational fluid dynamics(CFD)models to study the effects of the ventilation approach and cave porosity on the airway *** findings show that:with active undercut ventilation,a unique resistance model is required for the airway in panel cave mines;and an increase in cave porosity decreases the drift’s *** findings provide essential tools for a panel cave ventilation design.

Numerical analysis and experimental validation of hydrodynamics of a thin bubbling fluidized bed for various particle-size distributions using a three-dimensional dense discrete phase model

A dense discrete phase model combined with the kinetic theory of granular flows was used to study the bubbling characteristics and segregation of poly-dispersed particle mixtures in a thin fluidized *** simulations showed that in using the hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian method,the common use of one computational cell in the thickness direction of the thin bed does not predict wall friction ***,a three-cell discretization of the thickness direction does predict the wall friction well but six cells were needed to prevent overprediction of the bed *** change in specularity factor(SF)of the model not only affected the predictions of the velocity of particles,but also had a considerable impact on their flow pattern.A decrease in SF,which decreases wall friction,showed an over-prediction in the size of bubbles,particle velocities,and void fraction of the bed,and led to a shift in the circulation center toward the bottom of the *** segregation of the Geldart B particles was studied in the narrow range from 400 to 600μm with a standard deviation less than 10%of the average *** showed that large particles accumulated close to the distributor at the bottom of the bed and the center of the bed,but small particles moved towards the wall and top *** decrease in the mean particle size and spread in shape of the distribution improves mixing by up to 30%at a superficial gas velocity of around 2.5 times the minimum fluidization ***-normal mixtures with a small proportion of large particles had the most uniform distribution with a thin layer of jetsam forming at the bottom of the ***,experimental verification of the segregation and mixing of polydisperse particles with narrow size distribution is suggested.

A discrete model for prediction of radon flux from fractured rocks

Prediction of radon flux from the fractured zone of a propagating cave mine is basically associated with uncertainty and complexity. For instance, there is restricted access to these zones for field measure- ments, and it is quite difficult to replicate the complex nature of both natural and induced fractures in these zones in laboratory studies. Hence, a technique for predicting radon flux from a fractured rock using a discrete fracture network （DFN） model is developed to address these difficulties. This model quantifies the contribution of fractures to the total radon flux, and estimates the fracture density from a measured radon flux considering the effects of advection, diffusion, as well as radon generation and decay. Radon generation and decay are classified as reaction processes. Therefore, the equation solved is termed as the advection-diffusion-reaction equation （ADRE）. Peclet number （Pe）, a conventional dimensionless parameter that indicates the ratio of mass transport by advection to diffusion, is used to classify the transport regimes. The results show that the proposed model effectively predicts radon flux from a fractured rock. An increase in fracture density for a rock sample with uniformly distributed radon generation rate can elevate radon flux significantly compared with another rock sample with an equivalent increase in radon generation rate. In addition to Pe, two other independent dimensionless parameters （derived for radon transport through fractures） significantly affect radon dimensionless flux. Findings provide insight into radon transport through fractured rocks and can be used to improve radon control measures for proactive mitigation.

A thermo-mechanical simulation for the stability analysis of a horizontal wellbore in underground coal gasification

The stability analysis of horizontal wells is essential for a successful underground coal gasification(UCG)*** this paper,a new 3D coupled thermo-mechanical numerical modeling is proposed for analyzing the stability of UCG horizontal *** this model,the effect of front abutment stresses,syngas pressure,syngas temperature and thermal stresses is considered to predict the mud weight window and drilling mud pressure during UCG *** results show that the roof caving in UCG panel has a greatest impact on the stability of horizontal ***,when the time of coal gasification is increased,the well convergence increases and for more stability it is necessary to increase the drilling mud *** research was carried out on the m2 coal seam in mazino coal deposit(Iran).The results showed that the mud weight window for horizontal well drilling is between 0 and 33 *** appropriate stress for the maximum stability of the horizontal well,taking all the thermal and mechanical parameters into account,is 28 *** suggested numerical method is a comprehensive and consistent way for analyzing the stability of horizontal wells in UCG sites.

Estimation of diameter and surface area flux of bubbles based on operational gas dispersion parameters by using regression and ANFIS

Adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) procedure and regression methods were used to predict the Sauter mean bubble (bubble diameter) and surface area flux of the bubble in a flotation process. The operational conditions of flotation, impeller peripheral speed, superficial gas velocity, and weight percent solids were used as inputs of methods. By using the mentioned operational conditions, the non linear regression results showed that Sauter mean, and surface area flux of the bubble are predictable variables, where the coefficients of determination (R 2 ) are 0.57 and 0.74, respectively. To increase the accuracy of prediction an ANFIS model with cluster radius of 0.4 was applied. ANFIS model was capable of estimating both Sauter mean, and surface area flux of the bubble, where in a testing stage, satisfactory correlations, R 2 = 0.78, and 0.86, were achieved for Sauter mean, and surface area flux of bubble, respectively. Results show that the proposed ANFIS model can accurately estimate outputs and be used in order to predict the parameters without having to conduct the new experiments in a laboratory.

Synthesis of a copolymer carrier for anticancer drug luteolin for targeting human breast cancer cells

OBJECTIVE: To focus a new chemoprevention approach that uses nanotechnology to deliver luteolin to human breast cancer cells(mCF-7), and its underlying ***: Water-soluble copolymer-encapsulated nanoparticle-luteolin(CENL) was formulated using the hydrophobic drug luteolin. The ability to load and release he anticancer drug into/from the synthesized hyperbranched polyester was evaluated by high-performance liquid *** successful synthesis of CENL was supported by analytical techniques including fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography,and dynamic light scattering. Cell viability was measured using the 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide color method. Reactive oxygen species(ROS) were measured using a dichlorofluorescein probe and intracellular calcium(Cai2+) was evaluated with a flu3-Am ***: The results showed that the drug delivery system is stable and that the loading capacity is high. Treatment with nanoparticles containing luteolin and free luteolin resulted in cell death in breast cancer cells at high concentrations (IC50(33 ± 4) and(48 ± 6) μm, respectively)At high concentrations,CENL reduced cell viability and increased ROS and Cai2+ ***: Our results demonstrate that CENL has potential for human breast cancer treatment.

Kinetic modeling of cement slurry synthesized with Henna extract in oil well acidizing treatments

Acidizing treatment in petroleum reservoirs is a short-term and viable strategy to preserve the productivity of a *** is a major concern for the degradation of cement sheath integrity,leading to poor zonal isolation and environmental ***,it is essential to understand how the cement behaves when attacked by hydrochloric *** this study,a cement slurry by incorporation of the Henna extract,as an environmentally friendly cement additive,was synthesized as a potential solution to solve this *** characteristics of the treated cement slurry were compared with a reference slurry(w/c?0.44)which is composed of only cement and water.A kinetic study was carried out to evaluate the adsorption behavior of the cement slurries exposed to an acid solution with 0.1 m HCl in a range of 25 to 55C *** features of the cement slurries were evaluated by multiple analytical techniques such as XRD,FTIR,TG,and DSC *** the experimental data,it is concluded that the second-order Lagergren kinetic model revealed to be the best in describing kinetic isotherms taken,because the margin between experimental and calculated values was minor for this *** results of the characterization and HCl interaction kinetic studies underlined the prominent protective role of Henna extract-modified cement slurry in the enhancement of the cement resistance against acid attack and utilization in environmentally favorable oil well acidizing treatments.

modulating the immune microenvironment to establish sustained positive feedback within immune pathways represents a promising avenue for the treatment of ***,the precise and efficient delivery of therapeutic systems to the subcutaneous basal layer to modulate immune disorders is a major challenge in the treatment of autoimmune *** this project,we introduce a dual-functional microneedle(DF-mN)designed to combine mNs with multiple release kinetics and immunotherapy,the programmed treatment is achieved through segmented design of the mN structure,realizing the unification of rapid and long-lasting treatment of autoimmune *** vivo imaging results showed that GelmA@m-CSF showed fluorescent signals after 5 days of delivery to subcutaneous tissues,whereas HA@IL-13 showed minimal fluorescent signals after 2 *** multistage release behavior of mNs and the diffusion mechanism of drugs were explained at the molecular level,in combination with coarse-grained molecular ***,DF-mN can successfully induce macrophage reprogramming in vitro and ameliorate overall symptoms in a psoriasis mice model,suggesting that it has the potential to be an effective strategy for the treatment of psoriasis and portends to be a transformative platform for the treatment of other autoimmune diseases.
