Alleviation of Adverse Effects of Salt Stress in Wheat Cultivars by Foliar Treatment with Antioxidant 2—Changes in Some Biochemical Aspects, Lipid Peroxidation, Antioxidant Enzymes and Amino Acid Contents

Ascobin (compound composed of ascorbic acid and citric acid) is considered one of exogenous protectants which may alleviate the harmful effects of salinity stress. Pot experiments were performed at the screen greenhouse of National Research Centre, Cairo, Egypt to study the effect of foliar treatment of two cultivars of wheat plant with different concentrations of ascobin (0, 200, 400 and 600 mg/l) on some biochemical parameters, antioxidant enzymes, element contents and amino acid constituents of two cultivars of wheat plant grown under different salinity levels (0.0, 3000 and 6000 mg/l) in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013. Salinity with different concentrations levels increased phenolic compounds contents of the two wheat cultivars. The activities of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, CAT, POD, PPO, AXP and GR) dramatically increased due to salinity stress. Amino acid content was increased in cultivar Sids 1, while the content was decreased in cultivar Giza 168 in all salinity treatments. Increments in the above mentioned parameters compared to the untreated plants at normal and stressed conditions. The magnitude of increments was much more pronounced in response to 600 mg/l of ascobin. It could be concluded that, foliar treatment of wheat cultivars with ascobin could partially alleviate the harmful effect of salinity especially at the lower levels of salinity of the two cultivars of wheat at most of the studied parameters.

Photo Thermal Generator of Selective Radiation Structural and Energetic Features

Photo thermoelectric generators (PTEGs) are solid state heat engines that generate electricity from concentrated sunlight. In this paper, we developed a novel detailed balance model for PTEGs and applied this model to both state-of-the-art and idealized materials. This model uses thermoelectric compatibility theory to provide analytic solutions to device efficiency in idealized materials with temperature-dependent properties. The method for the theoretical calculation of the mechanism of absorption and refraction of light radiation of a selected wavelength in the volume of a photoelectric converter and the design of an effective photo thermal converter with a fixed slit are presented in the article. Direct- and non-direct-electron transitions from the valence band to the conduction band are analyzed. The possibility of optimal distribution of the light spectrum on the frontal surfaces of the solar cell and thermoelectric converter is shown. According to the results of experimental studies, a conclusion was made that the efficiency of a photo converter increases by a factor of three as compared with analogues, but operating without a thermal converter.

Assessment of Variabilities in Wheat Genotypes to Yellow and or Strip Rust, Puccinia striiformis in Glass House Conditions

Yellow/stripe rust caused by Puccinia striiformis is a major problem in the middle East specially Iran. Virulence survey of cereal rust fungi have traditionally used differential host genotype and virulent physiologic race 134 E 134 AT was received to evaluate the segregating lines. A set of 35 segregating lines and three additional susceptible cultivars were added, making a total of 38 eultivars-lines. Spreader plants served as a source of inoculums. The plants were evaluated after two months based on infection percentage and the disease scoring scales. The results indicated that, there are significant changes in susceptibility assessments of the segregating lines in contrast to cultivated varieties to the yellow rust P. striiformis as far as the disease incidence and rust development is concerned in these experiments. The selected differential genotypes associated with various levels of resistance. The infection percentages were varied on the lines and the varieties, whereas the severity percentages were entirely different. The lowest severity is of line 38 with 34.70% and the highest in line 1 with 93.49% indicating 2.7 folds reduction in severity. For discrimination among the lines, the results on scoring scales gave distinctions of five classes of resistance, in which, the highest score is 29.93 and the lowest one 11.46. The cluster analysis showed almost similar results and confirmed, the analysis by Duncan＇s multiple-lest rang as the above five distinctive groups.

Fabrication of Silicon Quantum Wires by Conventional Silicon Processing

Ultra fine silicon quantum wires with the Si/SiO2 heterointerface have been fabricated successfully by using reactive ion etching, anisotropic wet chemical etching and subsequent thermal oxidation. The cross-sectional image of scanning electron microscope shows the silicon quantum wires of high quality with the linewidth down to 20nm. The present method has many remarkable advantages, which is important to the study of low-dimension quantum physics and devices.

The study suggests asymptotic behavior of the solution to a new class of difference equations: . where a, bi, α and β are positive real numbers for i = 0, 1, · · · , k , and the initial conditions ψ-j, ψ-j+1, · · ·, ψ0 are randomly positive real numbers where j = 2k + 1. Accordingly, we consider the stability, boundedness and periodicity of the solutions of this recursive sequence. Indeed, we give some interesting counter examples in order to verify our strong results.

Based on UHV STm and LEED observations we have investigated clean surface of Si（113）, Ge/Si（113） interface and the reconstruction and morphology of the formation of Ge thin films and nanostructures on Si（113）. We clarified that clean surface of Si（113） has 3x2 reconstruction and Ge/Si（113） interface - 3x2 and 3x1 reconstructions. Analyzing the morphology of the formation of Ge films on Si（113） clearly show that it is possible to obtain considerable smooth and homogeneous Ge films on Si（113） at 430°C substrate temperature after 30 minutes’ Ge deposition. The use of Bi surfactant allow to obtain more smooth and homogeneous Ge thin films and nanostructures on Si（113）.

Synthesis of Yb<sup>3+</sup>Doped TiO<sub>2</sub>Nano Particles Powder as IR Filter via Sol-Gel

Ytterbium doped TiO2 nano-particles were prepared via Sol-Gel Technique under varying conditions to investigate the effects of Ytterbium ion doping on the Titania optical properties in mID IR range. X-ray diffraction analyses show that prepared Yb3+ doped TiO2 samples have polycrystalline structure in Anatas phase. FTIR spectrums for pure and doped samples after annealing process show a single transmission peak at wave number around 1145 cm-1. Transmission rate of this peak depends on Yb3+ concentrations and its value rises from 1.82% (for pure TiO2) to 58.1% (for doped with 1.13 wt% Yb3+). Slightly peak shift occurs at a lower doping rate with no further response to higher concentration rate. FTIR spectra gives a good indication in direction of preparation of optical band-pass filter at a wavelength around 8.733 μm (~1145 cm-1).

In Uzbekistan,starting from 2013,work in introduction of foreign varieties of amaranthus on soils with low bonitet has been carried *** green mass of the plant is a source of protein with high lysine content and therefore is used mainly for the feed *** grain contains proteins,carbohydrates and an oil with a wide range of biologically active substances（BAS）,including *** hydrocarbon squalene is the basis for the creation of steroid hormonal medicines,preparations for prevention and treatment of radiation sickness,onco-and cardiomyopathy,as well as for cosmetic products [1].We developed technologies for complex processing of grain and cake of amaranth of the introduced variety "Kharkivsky-1" of Amaranthus hypochondriacus with isolation of squalene-enriched *** to the first technology,the grain was subjected to cold pressing,and the oil was isolated with a yield up to 40% of its content in raw *** cake was hydrolysed with an aqueous-alcoholic alkaline solution,and two fractions were obtained,one of which（yield 0.3-0.4%） contained 20-25% *** second fraction was the sum of glucan type polysaccharides（yield 40-45%） and alkali-soluble proteins（yield up to 3%）.Another technology consists in extracting the amaranth cake using supercritical CO2 to produce an extract rich in squalene,extraction of squalene fraction（up to 50%） from the extract,and polysaccharides and protein isolation from the *** composition of extracts and fractions was studied by TLC,GC,HPLC,and GC/mS.

This study investigates low and high velocity impact response of nanocomposite containing 0.75,1.0 and 1.5 wt% of multi-walled carbon nanotubes （mWNTs） in a Polypropylene （PP） matrix. mWNTs were incorporated into polypropylene via melt compounding in an internal mixer followed by injection molding. Izod impact test results indicated higher impact energy in nanocomposite containing mWNTs comparing with neat PP. A single stage gas gun in velocity range of 20-150 m/s using harden steel hemispherical tip projectile with diameter of 8.1 mm and weight of 11.34 g, was used to conduct high velocity impact tests. Result showed better energy absorption and ballistic limit velocity （the average of highest impact velocity causing perforation but unable to go through and lowest impact velocities with no residual velocity recording） for specimens containing mWNTs. Results eventually showed higher values for specimens containing 1 wt% mWNTs in both high and low velocity impact tests as compared with the neat PP.
