Phytochemical analysis and antioxidant profile of methanolic extract of seed, pulp and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour.

Objective: To analyze the phytochemical constituents responsible for the plausible antioxidant effect of methanolic extract of the seed, pulp and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour. methods: Fresh seed, pulp, and peel of Baccaurea ramiflora fruits were extracted with methanol(mEBRse, mEBRpu, mEBRpe) and evaluated by phytochemical analysis for their content of innumerable metabolites(primary and secondary) viz. carbohydrates, alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids, proteins, and fixed oils. The antioxidant efficacy was assessed through different assay methods viz. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, total antioxidant capacity(TAC) and reducing power capacity(RPC). Estimation of total phenolic content(TPC), and total flavonoid content(TFC) was also done to confirm the presence of these phytochemicals. Results: It was revealed from the phytochemical analysis of mEBRse that alkaloids, glycosides, carbohydrates, phenols, and flavonoids were present, while that of mEBRpu showed the existence of carbohydrates, proteins, alkaloids, glycosides, phenols, saponins, flavonoids, and fixed oils. Presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, and terpenoids were found in the mEBRpe. A significant antioxidant activity was revealed by the mEBRpu [EC_(50):(27.612 ± 1.375) μg/mL], compared to mEBRpe, and mEBRse in DPPH assay. The ranking order for RPC was mEBRpu > mEBRpe > mEBRse respectively. The EC_(50) value of TAC of the mEBRpu, mEBRpe, and mEBRse were(25.107 ±0.744) μg/mL,(241.127 ± 7.463) μg/mL and(372.364 ± 11.030) μg/mL, respectively. Quantity of TPC and TFC were the highest in the mEBRpu(124.360 ± 2.078 mg GAE/g and 107.527 ±1.900 mg QRE/g extract) rather than mEBRpe and mEBRse extracts. Conclusions: This study suggests that mEBRpu has a significantly higher antioxidant property than mEBRpe and mEBRse. Objective:To evaluate the anticancer activity of vanillin semicarbazone(VSC) against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma(EAC) cells in Swiss albino ***:The compound VSC at three doses(5, 7.5 and 10 mg/kg i.p.) was administered into the intraperitoneal cavity of the EAC inoculated mice to observe its efficiency by studying the cell growth inhibition, reduction of tumour weight,enhancement of survival time as well as the changes in depleted hematological parameters. Allsuch parameters were also studied with a known standard drug bleomycin at the dose of 0.3 mg/kg(i.p.).Results:Among the doses studied, 10 mg/kg(i.p.) was found to be quite comparable in potency to that of bleomycin at the dose of 0.3 mg/kg(i.p.). The host toxic effects of VSC was found to be ***:It can be concluded that VSC can therefore be considered as potent anticancer agent.

The surface of Thar coal has been characterized by spectroscopic, microscopic and chemical methods using atomic absorption spectroscopy, fourier transform infrared analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanned electron microscopy and pH titration. The samples contained high moisture, low volatile and low to moderate sulfur content and ranked as lignite (heating value 2541 - 4289 btu/lb on moist, mineral-matter-free basis). Scanned electron micrographs show porous matrix with calcium, potassium or sodium minerals. Fourier transform infrared analysis confirmed the presence of aluminum, silica and hydrate mineral constituents also. The spectra showed C=C aromatic groups at 1604 - 1609 cm-1. Phenolic ester and carboxylic acid are identified by C=O stretching vibration peaks at 1702 cm-1. The peaks of quartz and kaolinite were observed at 900 - 1100 cm-1. Point of zero charge of Thar coal has been estimated as 6.00 to 6.27 through adsorption of H+ and OH- ions by suspending coal particles in aqueous electrolyte solution. Oxygen containing functional groups, mineral matter, and metal oxides are found to have a remarkable impact on point of zero charge. Biopolymer based hydrogels are highly adaptable, compatible and have shown great potential in biological tissues in biomedical applications. However, the development of bio-based hydrogels with high strength and effective antibacterial activity remains challenging. Herein, a series of vanillin-cross-linked chitosan nanocomposite hydrogel interfacially reinforced by g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheet carrying starch-caped Ag NPs were prepared for wound healing applications. The study aimed to enhance the strength, sustainability and control release ability of the fabricated membranes. Starch-caped silver nanoparticles were incorporated to enhance the anti-bacterial activities The fabricated membranes were assessed using various characterization techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, SEm, mechanical testing, Gel fraction and porosity alongside traditional biomedical tests i.e., swelling percentage, moisture retention ability, water vapor transmission rate, oxygen permeability, anti-bacterial activity and drug-release of the fabricated membranes. The mechanical strength reached as high as 25.9 ± 0.24 mPa for the best optimized sample. The moisture retention lied between 87%–89%, gel fraction 80%–85%, and water vapor transmission up to 104 ± 1.9g m^(-2)h^(-1)showing great properties of the fabricated membrane. Swelling percentage surged to 225% for blood while porosity fluctuated between 44% ± 2.1% and 52.5% ± 2.3%. Oxygen permeability reached up to 8.02 mg/L showing the breathable nature of fabricated membranes. The nanocomposite membrane shown excellent antibacterial activity for both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria with a maximum zone of inhibition 30 ± 0.25 mm and 36.23 ± 0.23 mm respectively. ＜正＞At the first sight it seems that advanced operation research is not used enough in continuous production systems as comparison with mass production, batch production and Job shop systems, but really in a comprehensive evaluation the advanced operation research techniques can be used in continuous production systems in developing countries very widely, because of initial inadequate plant layout, stage by stage development of production lines, the purchase of buying second hand machineries from various countries, plurality of customers. The present paper is a case study of production system planning for a chemical company in which the above mentioned conditions are almost present. The goals and constraints in this issue are as follows: 1. minimizing deviation of customer’s requirements. 2. maximizing the profit. 3. minimizing the frequencies of changes in formula Production. 4. minimizing the inventory of final products. 5. .Balancing the production sections with regard to rate in production. 6. Limitation in inventory of raw material. The present situation is in such a way that various techniques such as goal programming, linear programming and dynamic programming can be used. But dynamic production programming issues are divided into two categories, at first one with limitation in production capacity and another with unlimited production capacity. For the first category, a systematic and acceptable solution has not been presented yet. Therefore in this paper an innovative method is used to convert the dynamic situation to a zero- one model. At last this issue is changed to a goal programming model with non-linear limitations with the use of GRG algorithm and that’s how it is solved.

Environmentally Friendly Bifunctional Catalyst for ORR and OER from Coconut Shell Particles

Catalyst for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is at the heart of key renewable energy technologies such as water splitting and rechargeable batteries. But developing a low-cost oxygen electrode catalyst with high activity at low overpotential remains a great challenge. Coconut shells can be utilized as suitable raw material to produce activated carbon for enhanced adsorption capacity, bulk density, and hardness to be used as regenerative fuel cells running ORR and OER. The present work is designed to obtain an alternative to noble metal-based catalysts by synthesizing electroactive N-doped porous carbon from coconut shells;the use of biodegradable raw material through a single-step activation followed by nitrogen doping provides a more economical and environmentally friendly route to produce green catalysts for fuel cell applications. In valorization of biomass for the development of novel catalytic materials, our aim is also to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals. N-doped activated carbon shows promising bifunctional catalyst for ORR and OER as low-cost noble-metal-free and carbon-based oxygen catalysts.

Granulometric Analysis of Rajmahal Inter-Trappen Sedimentary Rocks (Early Cretaceous), Eastern India, Implications for Depositional History

Rajmahal trap along with its Inter-trappean sedimentary rocks is found exposed in the eastern part of India (24°00'E - 25°15'N;87°20'E - 87°15'E). Ten representative samples of Inter-trappean sandstone selected from the study area have been subjected to granulometric analysis. The result of the grain size analysis indicates that these sandstone specimens are very fine to fine grained with unimodal grain size distribution. They are dominantly fine skewed and generally mesokurtic in nature. The linear discriminant function plots of various grain size parameters suggest that these sandstones appear to have been deposited either in shallow marine or lacustrine environment. On multigroup multivariate discriminant functions V1 - V2 diagram majority of the samples fall in the beach depositional environment, indicating that most of the sediments were reworked by wave processes before deposition. The C-m pattern diagram shows that the sediment deposition took place in beach environment by rolling or suspension of sediments;hence the clastics were deposited in low energy condition.
