In this study,the mechanical properties and damping capacities of cast mg-5.5 Zn-0.6 Zr(weight percent,ZK60)alloys have been simultaneously improved by a facile multi-directional forging(mDF)processing,and the mechanisms of microstructure evolution and texture modification are systematically *** activation of tension twinning occurs during the initial mDF stage,due to the coarse-grained structure of the as-cast *** increasing mDF passes,the continuous dynamic recrystallization(CDRX)results in a fine equiaxed-grain *** typical non-basal texture is formed in the as-mDFed alloy for 6 passes,with the(0001)planes inclined 60°–70°to forged direction and 10°–20°to transverse direction,respectively.A good balance between the strength(~194.9 mPa)and ductility(~24.9%)has been achieved,which can be ascribed to the grain refinement,non-basal texture and fine precipitate *** damping capacity is remarkably improved after mDF processing,because the severe deformation increases the dislocation density,which effectively enlarges the sweep areas of mobile dislocations.

Echinococcoses are parasitic diseases of major public health importance *** infection results in chronic disease with poor prognosis and serious medical,social and economic consequences for vulnerable *** to recent estimates,the geographical distribution of Echinococcus *** is expanding and becoming an emerging and re-emerging problem in several regions of the *** endemicity is geographically heterogeneous and over time it may be affected by global environmental ***,landscape epidemiology offers a unique opportunity to quantify and predict the ecological risk of infection at multiple spatial and temporal ***,we review the most relevant environmental sources of spatial variation in human echinococcosis risk,and describe the potential applications of landscape epidemiological studies to characterise the current patterns of parasite transmission across natural and human-altered *** advocate future work promoting the use of this approach as a support tool for decision-making that facilitates the design,implementation and monitoring of spatially targeted interventions to reduce the burden of human echinococcoses in disease-endemic areas.

Introduction:Rangelands are important source of pasture for livestock in Kenya since time immemorial to pastoral ***,seasonality on forage availability has been a big challenge in meeting animals’feed *** demands harvest and storage of pastures for use during dry *** making has been done to bridge this forage deficit ***,hay quality in the rangelands is affected by curing methods,phonological stage at harvest,and the storage *** therefore evaluated the effect of field curing and storage duration on the quality(Crude Protein(CP))of hay from six rangeland grasses in ***:The grasses evaluated are Chloris roxburghiana,Eragrostis superba,Enteropogon macrostachyus,Cenchrus ciliaris,Chloris gayana,and sorghum *** grasses are the common species in the rangelands of Kenya and have been promoted in the past for hay making and reseeding *** grasses were harvested at the mature flowering stage(12 weeks phenological stage),which is a period that provides high biomass without much effect on quality as practiced in the study *** grasses were then cured in the field for 1,2,and 3 days before baling and stored indoors for 12,24,and 36 *** were taken for CP content determination at the three periods following macro-Kjeldahl ***:There was significant decline(p≤0.05)in crude protein content in all the grass species with storage *** period did not affect the CP content for all the species at a given storage period;however,3 days curing changed the hay color from green to brownish which reduces palatability and consequently reduced feed *** period of over 12 weeks adversely lowered CP to less than 6% for all the species which is the required minimum level for animal under production and *** had significantly higher decline in CP after 24 weeks storage compared to the other ***:Therefore,hay from the six grass spec

soil salinity is a global threat to the productivity of arable land. With the impact of population growth and development of social economy in China, the area of arable land has been shrinking in recent decades and is approaching a critical threshold of 120 mha, the minimum area for maintaining the national food security. saline-alkaline land, as important backup reserve, has been receiving increased attention as an opportunity to expand land resources. This review first summarizes the general principles and technologies of saline soil reclamation to support plant growth, including leaching salts or blocking the rise of salts, and soil fertility enhancement to improve the buffering *** the progress in this area in China is described including the customization of technologies and practices used in different saline-alkali regions. Following the soil management strategies, the concept of selecting crops for saline soil is proposed. This encompasses halophyte planting, salt-tolerant crop breeding and the application of saline-adapted functional microorganisms to improve the adaptation of crops. Finally, the current problems and challenges are evaluate, and future research directions and prospects proposed for managing this major soil constraint.

Data release 2(DR2) from the Gaia mission was of great help in precise determination of fundamental parameters of Close Visual Binary and multiple systems(CVBmss), especially masses of their components, which are crucial parameters in understanding formation and evolution of stars and galaxies. This article presents the complete set of fundamental parameters for two nearby close visual binary systems(CVBss), which are HIP 19206 and HIP 84425. We utilised a combination of two methods;the first one is Tokovinin's dynamical method to solve the orbit of the system and to estimate orbital elements and the dynamical mass sum, and the second one is Al-Wardat's method for analysing CVBmss to estimate the physical parameters of the individual components. The latest method employs grids of Kurucz lineblanketed plane parallel model atmospheres to build synthetic spectral Energy Distributions(sEDs) of the individual components. Trigonometric parallax measurements given by Gaia DR2 and Hipparcos catalogues are used to analyse the two systems. The difference in these measurements yielded slight discrepancies in the fundamental parameters of the individual components, especially masses. so, a new dynamical parallax is suggested in this work based on the most convenient mass sum as given by each of the two methods. The new dynamical parallax for the system HIP 19205 of 22.97±0.95 mas coincides well with the trigonometric one reported recently(in December 2020) by Gaia EDR3 of 22.3689 ± 0.4056 mas. The positions of the components of the two systems on the evolutionary tracks and isochrones are plotted, which suggest that all components are solar-type main sequence stars. Their most probable formation and evolution scenarios are also discussed.

The nature of signature inversion in the πg9/2νh11/2 bands of odd–odd 98,102Rh nuclei is studied. Calculations are performed by using a triaxial rotor plus two-quasiparticle model and are compared with the experimentally observed signature inversions. The calculations reproduce well the observations and suggest that, in these bands, the signature inversion can be interpreted mainly as a competition between the Coriolis and the proton–neutron residual interactions in low K space. The triaxiality applied in the Hamiltonian enlarges the amplitudes of high spin signature zigzags at small triaxial deformation and might push the signature inversion point to higher spin at large triaxial deformation.

This work investigated the influence of silver plasmon and reduced graphene oxide(r GO)on the photoelectrochemical performance(PEC)of Zn O thin films synthesized by the sol-gel *** physicochemical properties of the obtained photo-anodes were systematically studied by using several characterization *** x-ray diffraction analysis showed that all samples presented hexagonal wurtzite structure with a polycrystalline *** and energy dispersive x-ray(EDX)studies confirmed the existence of both Ag and r GO in Zn O:Ag/r GO thin *** estimated grain size obtained from scanning electron microscopy(sEm)analysis decreased with Ag doping,then increased to a maximum value after r GO *** UV-vis transmission spectra of the as-prepared Zn O:Ag and Zn O:Ag/r GO thin films have shown a reduction in the visible range with a redshift at the absorption *** bandgaps were estimated to be around 3.17 e V,2.7 e V,and 2.52 e V for Zn O,Zn O:Ag,and Zn O:Ag/r GO,***,the electrical measurements revealed that the charge exchange processes were enhanced at the Zn O:Ag/r GO/electrolyte interface,accompanied by an increase in the(PEC)performance compared to Zn O and Zn O:Ag ***,the photocurrent density of Zn O:Ag/r GO(0.2 m A·cm^(-2)) was around 4 and 2.22 times higher than photo-anodes based on undoped Zn O(0.05 m A·cm^(-2)) and Zn O:Ag(0.09 m A·cm^(-2)),***,from the flat band potential and donor density,deduced from the mott-schottky,it was clear that all the samples were n-type semiconductors with the highest carrier density for the Zn O:Ag/r GO photo-anode.

A detailed computational investigation,based on density functional theory,of the interaction of polyani-line(PANI)and graphene nanoribbons(GNRs)with srTiO_(3) is *** adsorption of PANI in var-ious oxidation states and co-adsorption with GNRs is found to be thermodynamically ***-sorbed PANI introduces N and C 2p states into the srTiO_(3) bandgap,while co-adsorption of PANI and GNRs leads to a bridging of the gap and semi-metallic behaviour,thus rendering the electrical properties highly sensitive to the loading of the GNRs/PANI in the *** the lattice dynamics of the composites predicts a 68-88%reduction in the lattice thermal conductivity due to reduced phonon group *** together,these findings provide insight into the growing number of experimental studies highlighting the enhanced thermoelectric performance of oxide-polymer composites and indicate co-adsorption with graphene as a facile direction for future research.

Nanosecond pulse generation in an erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) passively mode-locked by a silver nanoparticle(sNP)-based saturable absorber(sA) is experimentally demonstrated. The sA is fabricated by depositing a nanosized sNP layer onto the surface of polyvinyl alcohol film through the thermal evaporation process. By inserting the sA into an EDFL cavity, stable mode-locked operation is achieved at 1561.5 nm with the maximum pulse energy up to 52.3 nJ. The laser operates at a pulse repetition frequency of 1.0 mHz with a pulse width of 202 ns. These results suggest that sNPs could be developed as an effective sA for mode-locking pulse generation.

many insect families have evolved to produce and detect complex singing patterns for the purposes of mating, display of dominance, predator escape, and other needs. While the mechanisms of sound production by insects have been thoroughly studied, man-machine exploitation of such mechanisms has remained unreported. We therefore describe a method to modulate the frequency spectrum in the chirp call of a singing insect, Gampsocleis gratiosa （Orthoptera： Tettigoniidae）, a large katydid indigenous to China and commonly known as Guo Guo or Chinese Bush Cricket. The chirp modulation was achieved through the contact of a ribbon of lonic Polymer-metal Composite （IPmC） against wing of the insect. The IPmC effectively served as an actuator when a small DC voltage was applied to the ribbon＇s faces. By applying a sequential on/off voltage waveform to the IPmC ribbon, the katydid＇s chirp was modulated in a corresponding manner. This configuration can be used as part of a broader application of using singing insects to harness their acoustic power to produce and propagate machine-induced messages into the acoustic environment.
