Performance validation of High mountain Asia 8-meter Digital Elevation model using ICEsat-2 geolocated photons

High mountain Asia(HmA),recognized as a third pole,needs regular and intense studies as it is susceptible to climate *** accurate and high-resolution Digital Elevation model(DEm)for this region enables us to analyze it in a 3D environment and understand its intricate role as the Water Tower of *** science teams of NAsA realized an 8-m DEm using satellite stereo imagery for HmA,termed HmA 8-m *** this research,we assessed the vertical accuracy of HmA 8-m DEm using reference elevations from ICEsat-2 geolocated photons at three test sites of varied topography and land *** were made from statistical quantifiers and elevation *** the world’s highest mountain,mount Everest,and its surroundings,Root mean squared Error(RmsE)and mean Absolute Error(mAE)resulted in 1.94 m and 1.66 m,respectively;however,a uniform positive bias observed in the elevation profiles indicates the seasonal snow cover change will dent the accurate estimation of the elevation in this sort of test *** second test site containing gentle slopes with forest patches has exhibited the Digital surface model(Dsm)features with RmsE and mAE of 0.58 m and 0.52 m,*** third test site,situated in the Zanda County of the Qinghai-Tibet,is a relatively flat terrain bed,mostly bare earth with sudden river cuts,and has minimal errors with RmsE and mAE of 0.32 m and 0.29 m,respectively,and with a negligible ***,in one more test site,the feasibility of detecting the glacial lakes was tested,which resulted in exhibiting a flat surface over the surface of the lakes,indicating the potential of HmA 8-m DEm for deriving the hydrological *** results accrued in this investigation confirm that the HmA 8-m DEm has the best vertical accuracy and should be of high use for analyzing natural hazards and monitoring glacier surfaces.

Erosive Wear study of PPLsF/Glass Fiber Reinforced Hybrid Laminates

This work is focused to examine the erosive performance of hybrid Palmyra palm leaf stalk fiber(PPLsF)/glass polyester laminate against solid particle bombardment.A hand lay-up method was adopted for the fabricating four piles of five distinct laminates with different stacking order glass and PPLsF *** them,one group of pure PPLsF and pure E-glass laminates were *** hybrid laminates were exposed to high speed stream of solid sand particle at three distinct impact velocities(48,70 and 82 m/s)and four different angles of impingement(30°,45°,60°and 90°).The effect of particle velocity,angle of impingement and stacking order on both wear rate and efficiency were *** experimental assessment reveals a significant improvement in erosive wear resistance properties due to hybridization of PPLsF with ***,the laminates with PPLsF layer as skin and glass as core layer exhibited better erosive wear resistance properties than other types of ***,a maximum value of erosion at lower velocity(48 m/s)is also noticed at 45°impingement ***,at high velocity of impact 70 m/s and 82 m/s,the maximum rate of erosion has been shifted from 45°impact angle to 60°impact *** alternation of this semi-ductile character to semi-brittle character is evidenced by analyzing the experimental *** to justify the mode of erosion,the eroded surface samples were inspected by scanning electron microscope(sEm).

Translocator protein and neurodegeneration: insights from Alzheimer’s disease

The 18 kDa translocator protein(TsPO)located on the outer mitochondrial membrane regulates several key cellular processes including mitochondrial homeostasis,cholesterol transport,apoptosis,cell proliferation,and maintenance of mitochondrial health(Rupprecht et al.,2022,2023).TsPO is expressed in both peripheral organs and the central nervous system,with a more pronounced expression in tissues that produce *** main reason why TsPO has garnered so much attention is because it plays a key role in neurosteroidogenesis by transferring cholesterol from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane,which is the rate-limiting step in neurosteroid synthesis.A cholesterol-recognizing amino acid consensus domain has been identified in the cytosolic C terminus of the TsPO protein by both in vitro and site-directed mutagenesis experiments(Li et al.,2001).However,the role of TsPO in the process of neurosteroid synthesis has been challenged by several studies,particularly TsPO knockout models,which suggest that TsPO removal does not affect the phenotype or the system’s viability(Tu et al.,2014).However,ligands targeting TsPO have been shown to enhance levels of neurosteroids which suggests that neurosteroidogenesis is one of the major functional roles mediated by the TsPO protein.

Interfacial solar desalination is an emerging technology for freshwater production,but the finding of novel solar evaporators is still *** the present research,graphitic carbon foam(CF)was synthesized from the upcycling of waste plastic polyethylene terephthalate(PET)waste bottles functionalized with carrollite CuCo_(2)s_(4) as a photothermal *** characterization[X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy(sEm-EDs)]confirms the functionalization of carrollite CuCo_(2)s_(4) on graphitic carbon *** UV-Vis spectroscopy analysis showed an enhanced optical absorption in the UV-Vis-near IR region(>96%)for functionalized CuCo_(2)s_(4)-CF foam compared to carbon foam(67%).The interfacial solar desalination experiment presented a significantly enhanced evaporation rate of 2.4 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1) for CuCo_(2)s_(4)-CF compared to that of CF(1.60 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1))and that of CuCo_(2)s_(4)(1.60 kg·m^(−2)·h^(−1)).The obtained results proved that the newly synthesized CuCo_(2)s_(4)-CF from the upcycled plastic into new material for the photothermal desalination process can enhance the practice of a circular economy to produce fresh water.

cerebrovascular disease of genetic origin characterized by abnormally dilated capillaries and a wide spectrum of symptoms,including headaches,seizures,neurological deficits,and intracerebral *** unpredictable clinical course and the current lack of therapies make the identification of prognostic and predictive biomarkers an imperative research challenge.1 Herein,we provide evidence that galectin-3(Gal-3),a major tissue and circulating biomarker of oxidative stress and inflammation,is significantly up-regulated both in CCm patients and ***,wholetranscriptome sequencing,qRT-PCR,and Western blotting studies demonstrated a significant up-regulation of Gal-3 expression levels both in surgical CCm specimens and in blood samples of CCm patients.

We aim to evaluate the incidence of incontinence following laser endoscopic enucleation of the prostate(EEP)comparing en-bloc(Group 1)versus 2-lobe/3-lobe techniques(Group 2).We performed a retrospective review of patients undergoing EEP for benign prostaticenlargement in 12 centers between January 2020 and January *** were presented as median and interquartile range(IQR).Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate factors associated with stress urinary incontinence(sUI)and mixed urinary incontinence(mUI).There were 1711 patients in Group 1 and 3357 patients in Group *** in Group 2were significantly younger(68[62–73]years vs 69[63–74]years,P=0.002).median(interquartile range)prostate volume(PV)wassimilar between the groups(70[52–92]ml in Group 1 vs 70[54–90]ml in Group 2,P=0.774).There was no difference in preoperativeInternational Prostate symptom score,quality of life,or maximum flow ***,morcellation,and total surgical time weresignificantly shorter in Group *** 1 month,overall incontinence rate was 6.3%in Group 1 versus 5.3%in Group 2(P=0.12),and urge incontinence was significantly higher in Group 1(55.1%vs 37.3%in Group 2,Pmonths,the overall rate ofincontinence was 1.7%in Group 1 versus 2.3%in Group 2(P=0.06),and sUI was significantly higher in Group 2(55.6%vs 24.1%in Group 1,P=0.002).At multivariable analysis,PV and IPss were factors significantly associated with higher odds of transient sUI/***,surgical time,and no early apical release technique were factors associated with higher odds of persistent sUI/mUI.

sporadic or late-onset Alzheimer’s disease(LOAD)accounts for more than 95%of Alzheimer’s disease(AD)cases without any family *** genome-wide association studies have identified associated risk genes and loci for LOAD,numerous studies suggest that many adverse environmental factors,such as social isolation,are associated with an increased risk of ***,the underlying mechanisms of social isolation in AD progression remain *** the current study,we found that 7 days of social isolation could trigger pattern separation impairments and presynaptic abnormalities of the mossy fibre-CA3 circuit in AD *** also revealed that social isolation disrupted histone acetylation and resulted in the downregulation of 2 dentate gyrus(DG)-enriched miRNAs,which simultaneously target reticulon 3(RTN3),an endoplasmic reticulum protein that aggregates in presynaptic regions to disturb the formation of functional mossy fibre boutons(mFBs)by recruiting multiple mitochondrial and vesicle-related ***,the aggregation of RTN3 also recruits the PP2A B subunits to suppress PP2A activity and induce tau hyperphosphorylation,which,in turn,further elevates RTN3 and forms a vicious ***,using an artificial intelligence-assisted molecular docking approach,we determined that senktide,a selective agonist of neurokinin3 receptors(NK3R),could reduce the binding of RTN3 with its ***,application of senktide in vivo effectively restored DG circuit disorders in socially isolated AD *** together,our findings not only demonstrate the epigenetic regulatory mechanism underlying mossy fibre synaptic disorders orchestrated by social isolation and tau pathology but also reveal a novel potential therapeutic strategy for AD.

针对红薯薄片内部多孔介质子域和外部热空气自由流动子域,采用COmsOL multiphysics软件分别在不同间歇比(PR=2,PR=3,PR=4,PR=5)条件下构建并求解多相流间歇微波联合对流干燥模型;在热风60℃,风速1.2 m/s的干燥工况下,与红薯薄片热风对流干燥特性进行对比。结果表明,间歇微波对流干燥的最优间歇比为3,干燥速率随间歇比的增加而减小。采用PR=3的间歇微波对流干燥薄片与采用热风对流干燥的薄片相比,前者干燥至相同的含水量时内部液态水和水蒸气通量分别高于后者0.37~2.28倍和0.67~1.9倍,核心温度提高了9.3~69.3℃,导致含水量降低到1.8 kg/kg时前者的干燥速率是后者2.63倍,前者的整体干燥时间比后者缩短68.6%。结合薄片NO.4内通量分布表明,水蒸气和液态水通量聚集于距离薄片表面0~0.01 m区间内,选用间歇微波可降低水分传输到外界的路径,实现了干燥优化。研究结果为红薯薄片间歇微波对流干燥工艺优化提供科学依据。
