The formation,development and classification of rail corrugation:a survey on Chinese metro

Investigations into rail corrugation within metro systems have traditionally focused on specific mechanisms,thereby limiting the generalizability of proposed *** the commonalities in rail corrugation across diverse metro lines remains pivotal for elucidating its underlying *** present study conducted extensive field surveys and tracking tests across 14 Chinese metro *** employing t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding(t-SNE)for dimensional reduction and employing the unsupervised clustering algorithm DBSCAN,the research redefines the classification of metro rail corrugation based on characteristic *** analysis encompassed spatial distribution and temporal evolution of this *** revealed that floating slab tracks exhibited the highest proportion of rail corrugation at 47%.Notably,ordinary monolithic bed tracks employing damping fasteners were more prone to inducing rail *** primarily manifested in curve sections with radii between 300 and 500 m,featuring ordinary monolithic bed track and steel-spring floating slab track structures,with wavelengths typically between 30 and 120 ***–slip vibrations of the wheel–rail system maybe led to short-wavelength corrugations(40–60 mm),while longer wavelengths(200–300 mm)exhibited distinct fatigue damage characteristics,mainly observed in steel-spring floating slab tracks and small-radius curve sections of ordinary monolithic bed tracks and ladder sleeper tracks.A classification system comprising 57 correlated features categorized metro rail corrugation into four distinct *** research outcomes serve as critical benchmarks for validating various theories pertaining to rail corrugation formation.

maize (Zea mays L.) is the world’s leading cereal crop, with production estimated at over 1 billion tonnes in 2022. In Côte d’Ivoire, maize is one of the most widely consumed foods, with national production exceeding 1 million tonnes in 2022. Despite its importance, this crop is subject to numerous biotic constraints, including maize streak virus (mSV). The objective of this study was to characterize mSV isolates from Côte d’Ivoire using molecular biology techniques. To achieve this, maize leaf samples displaying characteristic symptoms of mSV were collected from different agro-ecological zones (AEZs) of Côte d’Ivoire. Total DNA was extracted from the collected samples using the CTAB method and quantified with a Nanodrop spectrophotometer. The C2 region of the mSV genome’s open reading frame (OrF) was amplified through polymerase chain reaction (PCr) using mSV-specific primers. The resulting PCr products were sequenced using the Sanger method. Bioinformatics analysis was performed using mSV sequences from other African countries (retrieved from NCBI) alongside sequences obtained in this study. The analysis was conducted using mEGA X version 10.05 software. The results showed that the main symptoms observed in the field included the presence of longitudinal light green streaks on leaves, stunted plant growth, and incomplete seed development in infected plants. Phylogenetic analysis of the sequences from Côte d’Ivoire revealed three monophyletic groups, with sequences of some isolates collected from the same plot belonging to different groups. The mSV sequences from Côte d’Ivoire are very close to those from rwanda. This study underscores the need for further investigation into the genetic diversity of mSV strains to enhance the diagnosis and management of this viral disease, which is particularly prevalent in maize crops in Côte d’Ivoire.

Introduction:Alzheimer 's disease(AD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder and the primary cause of dementia. Considerable evidence supports the “amyloid hypothesis,” stating that the pathogenesis of AD is primarily caused by the deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ), which drives tau phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration in the brain. The amyloid hypothesis is strengthened by the significant and moderate benefit of lecanemab, a humanized antibody through an anti-amyloid mechanism,showing slowed clinical decline(van Dyck et al.,2023). The recent positive results of anti-amyloid trials have brought back focus on the amyloid hypothesis through biochemical, genetic, and pharmacological approaches(Zhang, 2023).

A Cost-Effective Flood Warning System for Small Urban Basins

An effective warning system for flash floods along the upper river des Peres, a small urban stream in eastern missouri, USA, is based on three enterprise-level, automated rain *** floods in this 25 km~2 basin develop rapidly and are commonly caused by small but intense thunderstorm cells, these rain gauges were necessarily deployed within the watershed, and immediate telemetry and processing of rainfall delivered in 5-minute intervals is required. Available data show that damaging floods in this area occur only 30 min to 3 h following the delivery of 38 mm of rainfall or more in a single hour. Water levels along this stream can rise more than 3 m/h. Since full deployment in Nov. 2021, our system has successfully predicted 3 significant floods with one false positive.

BACKGrOUND Equations for estimation glomerular filtration rate(eGFr)have been associated with poor clinical performance and their clinical accuracy and reliability have been called into *** To assess the longitudinal changes in measured glomerular filtration rate(mGFr)in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease(ADPKD).mETHODS Analysis of an ambispective data base conducted on consecutive patients diagnosed with *** mGFr was assessed by iohexol clearance;while eGFr was calculated by three different formulas:(1)The chronic kidney disease epidemiology collaboration(CKD-EPI);(2)modification of diet in renal disease(mDrD);and(3)The 24-hour urine creatinine clearance(CrCl).The primary end-points were the mean change in mGFr between the baseline and final visit,as well as the comparison of the mean change in mGFr with the change estimated by the different *** Thirty-seven patients were included in the *** compared to baseline,month-6 mGFr was significantly decrease by-4.4 mL/minute±10.3 mL/minute(P=0.0132).However,the CKD-EPI,mDrD,and CrCl formulas underestimated this change by 48.3%,89.0%,and 45.8%respectively,though none of these differences reached statistical significance(P=0.3647;P=0.0505;and P=0.736,respectively).The discrepancies between measured and estimated glomerular filtration rate values,as evaluated by CKD-EPI(r=0.29,P=0.086);mDrD(r=0.19,P=0.272);and CrCl(r=0.09,P=0.683),were not correlated with baseline mGFr *** This study indicated that eGFr inaccurately reflects the decline in mGFr and cannot reliably track changes over *** poses significant challenges for clinical decision-making,particularly in treatment strategies.

Q-Switching Pulse Operation in 1.5-μm region Using Copper Nanoparticles as Saturable Absorber

We demonstrate a passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser （EDFL） using a copper nanoparticle （CuNP） thin film as the saturable absorber in a ring cavity. A stable Q-switched pulse operation is observed as the CuNP saturable absorber （SA） is introduced in the cavity. The pulse repetition rate of the EDFL is observed to be proportional to the pump power, and is limited to 101.2kHz by the maximum pump power of 113.7mW. On the other hand, the pulse width reduces from 10.19μs to 4.28μs as the pump power is varied from 26.1 mW to 113.7mW. The findings suggest that CuNP SA could be useful as a potential saturable absorber for the development of the robust, compact, efficient and low cost Q-switched fiber laser operating at 1.5-μm region.
