Clinical-radiological-pathological correlation of cavernous sinus hemangioma: Incremental value of diffusion-weighted imaging

AImTo elucidate the clinical, magnetic resonance imaging (mRI), pathological features of these lesions and asses the incremental value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in diagnosing them. mETHODSFifteen consecutive patients (11 females and 4 males; mean age 40.93 years; age range 13-63 years) with cavernous sinus hemangiomas (CSH) who underwent examination between November 2008 and may 2016 were included for the analysis. mRI, clinical and surgical findings of each patient was retrospectively reviewed. DWI were also analysed and mean-apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value was calculated. Eleven patients underwent surgical removal of the lesion and 2 patients had biopsy only. Diagnosis of CSH was confirmed histologically in 13 patients. RESULTSEleven patients (73%) presented with headaches and 10 (66%) had cranial nerve involvement. Extra cavernous sinus extension was noted in 14 (94%). Surgery was performed in 13 (87%) and post-operative radiation was given to 4 (28%) patients. Thirteen patients remained asymptomatic on follow up. Three conspicuous imaging features were highly suggestive of the diagnosis: Lack of diffusion restriction (100%), homogeneous hyperintensity on T2 weighted image sequences (93.3%) and intense post-contrast enhancement (100%). The mean ADC was 1.82 × 10-3 ± 0.2186 cm2/s. CONCLUSIONT1-weighted hypointensity with homogeneous hyperintensity on T2-weighted sequences, intense enhancement and absence of hemosiderin within the lesion on GRE sequence favour the diagnosis. Facilitated diffusion on DWI differentiates CSH from other solid cavernous sinus lesions and significantly improves the diagnostic accuracy, a critical factor for planning surgery.

Simulation of Heavy Rainfall Events during Retreat Phase of Summer monsoon Season over Parts of Andhra Pradesh

The main aim of this paper is to simulate monsoon heavy rainfall episodes that caused floods across some parts of Andhra Pradesh (AP) state, India during 29th September through 2nd October, 2009. A heavy rainfall quantity of 21 cm was observed near Amaravathi station (16.15°N;80.5°E) in Guntur district due to a meso-α low pressure system extended from the Bay of Bengal and widespread rainfall episodes were also appeared to many adjoining places in other three districts namely mahaboob Nagar, Kurnool and krishna in AP state simultaneously on 29th September. The rainy situation continued till 2nd October and caused floods over above districts of AP state which lead to a death toll of 33 people and heavy crop loss. To quantify the above catastrophic monsoon heavy precipitation events a high resolution (9 km) Weather Research and Forecast (WRF-ARW) model is centered at Amaravathi station to simulate rainfall episodes over the study region. In the present case study the simulated sensitive experiment highlights the dynamical characteristics of the meso-α system interms of circulation changes at different levels. Secondly, the thermodynamical characteristics for the generation of convective activity of this meso-α event in terms of Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE) and Convective Inhibition Energy (CINE) are also simulated. Dynamical and thermodynamical simulated results support heavy rainfall episodes due to a low pressure system around Amaravathi station. Thus circulation changes, high CAPE and low CINE magnitudes have well defined not only the strength of meso-α system, but also quantum of rain-fall to a tune of 19 cm near Amaravathi station on 29th September. The observed rainfall was 21 cm on 29th September and thus this model underestimates rainfall about 9.5% not only at Amaravathi station, but also at other stations as well. The mangroves are specialized marine environments widely distributed along the coast lines, which support biologically diverse groups of organisms including microbes. The microorganisms present in this ecosystem contribute significantly in the food web of the tropical marine ecosystem. In the present investigation, Actinomycete isolates obtained from mangrove sediments have been studied for diversity as well as for their bioactive potential. Seven different Actinomycete isolates （mS 1-mS7） were obtained from the sediments collected from the mangrove swamps. The phylogenetic analysis of these isolates showed that out or seven isolates, 3 isolates belong to Streptomyces sp., which has bioactive potential as several bioactive metabolites have been isolated from this group. One bacterium showed genetic similarity with Corynebacterium sp.. The microbes from this group are used for very important industrial applications. Three Actinomycete isolates showed very low similarity with the reported strains from the gene bank. In suggests that, these cultures could be novel and further research work is warranted to prove this speculation. In antagonistic studies, three Actinomycete isolates showed promising results. This investigation highlights the importance of mangrove ecosystem as a rich source of diverse Actinomycete strains for biotechnological applications.

第二次印度天然气水合物勘探计划(NGHP-02)于2015年在四个区域实施,分别为A区、B区、C区和E区。此次勘探期间,在印度东部近海的krishna-Godavari(KG)和mahanadi盆地共完成钻探和/或取心共25个研究站位。在K G盆地B区的NGHP-02-17、-19和-22站位获取了零偏移距垂直地震剖面(VSP)数据。在本研究中,我们着重关注K G盆地B区利用零偏移距VSP和井下声波测井数据评估天然气水合物沉积特征的三个站位。通过与电缆测井相关的零偏移V S P数据、地面地震和合成地震数据表征和描绘K G盆地天然气水合物成藏。在含天然气水合物单元上方的未固结浅层沉积剖面发现低速范围1500~1650 m/s,而采集到的声波测井和V S P数据则发现高速异常。在含天然气水合物沉积剖面上,NGHP-02-17站位由V S P得到的层速度在海底以下(mbsf)267~287 m的范围内由2000 m/s变化至3000 m/s»NGHP-02-19站位层速度在海底以下(mbsf)306~366m的范围内由1560 m/s变化至丨750 m/s。NGHP-02-22站位层速度在海底以下(mbsf)198~290m的范围内由1700m/s变化至丨800 m/s。三个站位分布的天然气水合物既有孔隙填充型也有裂缝填充型,然而高浓度天然气水合物则仅在孔隙填充形态中观察到。结合各向同性(孔隙填充型)和各向异性(裂缝填充型)的声波储层模型,我们估算了天然气水合物储量。预测的天然气水合物饱和度与压力取心结果吻合较好,表明高浓度天然气水合物(近85%的孔隙空间)是按照承载形态分布。

Importance: This post-marketing surveillance study was conducted to evaluate real-world information about the efficacy and safety of oral Tinefcon? tablets (Sphaeranthus indicus based) in plaque psoriasis patients. materials and methods: Patients aged at least 18 years and older with clinical diagnosis of plaque psoriasis, were enrolled in this open label, non-comparative, multicenter trial. All eligible subjects received four 700 mg Tinefcon? tablets/day for 12 weeks. The primary outcome measure was percent change in Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score from baseline to week 12. The secondary outcome measures were Physician Global Assessment (PGA), Nail Psoriasis Severity Index (NAPSI), Psoriatic Arthritis Evaluation and Gene Expression Profiling and Immunohistochemistry. Results: After completion of Tinefcon? treatment at 12 weeks, more than half of subjects (52%) achieved PASI 50 response;PASI 75 response was attained in 68 (23%) subjects and PASI 90 response in 22 (7%) subjects. Five subjects with severe psoriasis achieved PASI 90 without receiving any concomitant medication. Reduction in severity as assessed by PGA was observed in more than half of patients with moderate disease. Histopathological evaluation revealed that epidermal thickness was considerably reduced in 66% of subjects. The expression of inflammatory marker S100A9 protein was(meaningfully reduced in 60% patients with non-significant reduction of Keratin 10 protein expression. Gene expression analysis showed increase down regulation of SERPINB4;PI3 and KRT16 genes after a 12-week treatment period in subjects with higher PASI scores. Conclusion: Oral Tinefcon? tablets showed good efficacy and had a favorable safety profile in plaque psoriasis patients.
