Oscillating heat pipes(OHP)which are constructed from a serpentine-arranged capillary tube possess a desirable aerodynamic form factor and provide for relatively high heat transfer rates via cyclic evaporation and condensation of an encapsulated working fluid with no internal wicking structure *** last two decades,OHP has been extensively investigated for its potential application in thermal management of various *** study presents an experimental investigation on the heat transfer performance of an atypically long finned *** heat transfer performance of the proposed OHP was analyzed and compared with a bare tube OHP with similar overall *** show that a unit row of finned OHP filled with n-pentane with fill ratio of 70%can recover up to(400±40)W of heat from a typical waste exhaust air *** additional pressure drop due to fins was estimated to be(6.8±2)Pa resulting in an increase of 1–2 W of fan power *** average heat recovery rate via finned OHP was found to be almost 80%more than bare tube OHP filled with same working fluid with same fill ratio.

Strengthening of aluminium alloys 7xxx through the imposition of severe plastic deformation supplemented by ageing treatments is a challenge due to the limited workability of these alloys in cold deformation *** study aims to comprehensively investigate the strengthening of aluminium alloy 7005 through the imposition of severe plastic deformation supplemented by two different ageing treatments:pre-deformation artificial ageing or postdeformation natural *** this purpose,microstructure evolutions of the alloy processed through mentioned procedures were studied using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy while the alloy strengthening was evaluated using Vickers hardness *** show that a superlative strengthening is obtained through the imposition of severe plastic deformation supplemented by post-deformation natural *** instance,the yield strength of the alloy increases to more than 400 mPa,about one-third greater than the counterpart amount after the usual T6 *** superlative strength mainly occurs due to refinement of grains,an increase of dislocation density and an increase of volume fraction of the precipitates that appeared during natural *** the applied models,it is inferred that the increase of volume fraction of precipitates that appeared during natural ageing has a determinative role in the strengthening of the alloy.

The influence of rock dust size（10-30 μm） and mass fraction（5%-15%） on density, hardness and dry sliding wear behavior of Al 6061/rock dust composite processed through stir casting was investigated. Wear behavior of the developed composite was characterized at different loads, sliding velocities and distances using pin-on-disc setup. The experiments were conducted based on Taguchi＇s L27 orthogonal array and the influence of process parameters on wear rate was studied using ANOVA. The experimental results reveal that the applied load and reinforcement size are the major parameters influencing the specific wear rate for all samples, followed by mass fraction of reinforcement, sliding velocity and sliding distance at the level of 47.61%, 28.57%, 19.04%, 9.52% and 4.76%, respectively. The developed regression equation was tested for its accuracy and made evident that it can be used for predicting the wear rate with minimal error. With the help of SEm images, the worn surfaces of the novel composite were studied and the analysis proves that the wear resistance of aluminium alloys can be well improved with the addition of rock dust as reinforcement.

The main impetus of the present study is to investigate thin films of tin disulfide that have been doped with copper impurities and prepared on glass substrates by using the spray pyrolysis technique. Also, the influence of the substrate temperature on the structural, optical, and electrical properties of these films are *** thin films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEm), and optical absorption(UV-vis) analyses. The XRD patterns clarify that the thin films possess polycrystalline structures,having a peak associated with the(001) plane of the SnS2 phase. The average crystalline grain sizes were estimated to be within the range 5.7-7.1 nm. The SEm images indicate that the grain size increases from 53 to 114 nm with an increment in the substrate temperature, resulting in an increasing-decreasing trend in the band gap of the thin films. However, the films’ resistance decreases from 92.5 to 0.174 Ω·cm as the substrate temperature increases from 400 to 450 ℃. Also, their optical energy band gap depicts an increasing-decreasing trend with the estimated values of 2.81,3.21, and 3.06 eV at 400, 425, and 450℃, respectively. The thin films exhibit n-type conductivity.

In this paper we provide evidence that the Cassie-to-Wenzel transition, despite its detrimental effects on the wetting properties of superhydrophobic surfaces, can be exploited as an effective micro-fabrication strategy to obtain highly ordered arrays of biological objects. To this purpose we fabricated a patterned surface wetted in the Cassie state, where we deposited a droplet containing genomic DNA. We observed that, when the droplet wets the surface in the Cassie state, an array of DNA filaments pinned on the top edges between pillars is formed. Conversely, when the Cassie-to-Wenzel transition occurs, DNA can be pinned at different height between pillars. These results open the way to the realization of tridimensional arrays of biological objects.

myocardin （mYOCD） is a potent transcriptional coactivator that functions primarily in cardiac muscle and smooth muscle through direct contacts with serum response factor （SRF） over cis elements known as CArG boxes found near a number of genes encoding for contractile, ion channel, cytoskeletal, and calcium handling proteins. Since its discovery more than 10 years ago, new insights have been obtained regarding the diverse isoforms of mYOCD expressed in cells as well as the regulation of mYOCD expression and activity through transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and post-translational processes. Curiously, there are a number of functions associated with mYOCD that appear to be independent of contractile gene expression and the CArG-SRF nucleoprotein complex. Further, perturbations in mYOCD gene expression are associated with an increasing number of diseases including heart failure, cancer, acute vessel disease, and diabetes. This review summarizes the various biological and patho- logical processes associated with mYOCD and offers perspectives to several challenges and future directions for further study of this formidable transcriptional coactivator.
