The effect of Fe doping on structural and magnetic properties of nanocrystallite Co_2Cr_(1-x)Fe_xAl Heusler alloys prepared by mechanical alloying

mechanical alloying has been used to produce nanocrystallite Co2Crl-xFexAl （x = 0, 0.4, 0.6, 1） Heusler alloys. The formation of the L21 phase of Co2Cr1-xFexAl by the mechanical alloying method was investigated. The effect of Fe doping on the structural and magnetic properties of the samples was also studied. The results were compared with the Slater Pauling prediction. A comparison between these samples and those prepared by the arc-melting method in the literature was made. An increase of the coercivity Hc with the increasing Fe doping level was observed. This phenomenon was explained by the increases of lattice strain and magnetic anisotropy with the increasing Fe content.

Estimating oak forest parameters in the western mountains of Iran using satellite-based vegetation indices

Remote sensing is an important tool for studying and modeling forest *** indices obtained from Landsat-8 remotely sensed data were used to estimate the forest parameters in the western mountains of *** sample points were selected on the map of Bayangan County,Kermanshah province,*** each point,a cluster of five rectangular plots of 8100 m2 and 200 m apart was *** clusters were primarily sampled to determine the variance of the forest *** coefficient of variation was used as a criterion for sample *** density,canopy cover and basal area per hectare were calculated for each *** indices were extracted fromthe Landsat-8 images for each *** linear and nonlinear regressions were conducted to develop the *** models were validated using an independent data *** of model parameters was statistically *** results showed that Normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and Transformed normalized difference vegetation index(TNDVI)followed by Simple ratio vegetation index(SRVI)were the best predictors,explaining up to 91%of the variations with high *** NDVI,Soil adjusted vegetation index 2(SAVI2)and SRVI,the cubic model was more appropriate than the linear model for predicting the forest *** this model,the R-square value increased while NRmSE decreased *** Infrared percentage vegetation index(IPVI),the quadratic model was better,but,for other vegetation indices,nonlinear models were not superior to linear ***,it can be concluded that Landsat-8 imagery is suitable for predicting forest parameters in the oak forests of western *** course,large plots must be selected,and pre-classification is necessary to gain accurate and precise estimations.

Production of Biodiesel from Sludge Palm Oil by Esterification Process

Sludge palm oil （SPO） is an attractive feedstock and a significant raw material for biodiesel production. The use of SPO can lower the cost ofbiodiesel production significantly. In this study biodiesel fuel was produced from SPO by esterification process using P-toluenesulfonic acid （PTSA） as acid catalyst in different dosages in presence of methanol to convert free fatty acid （FFA） to fatty acid methyl ester （FAmE）. Batch esterification process of SPO was carried out to study the influence of PTSA dosage （0.25-10% wt/wt）, molar ratio of methanol to SPO （6：1-20：1）, temperature （40-80 ℃）, reaction time （30-120 min）. The effects of those parameters on the yield of crude biodiesel and conversion of FFA to FAmE were monitored. The optimum condition for batch esterification process was 0.75% wt/wt, 10：1 molar ratio, 60 ℃ temperature and 60 minutes reaction time.
