Increased salt sensitivity induced by sensory denervation: role of superoxide

AIm: To test the hypothesis that production of superoxide in mesenteric resistance arteries is increased and con- tributes to the development of hypertension induced by sensory denervation plus high salt intake. mEThODS: Newborn Wistar rats were given capsaicin 50 mg/kg sc on the 1st and 2nd d of life. After weaning, male rats were grouped as follows and treated for 3 weeks with: capsaicin pretreatment plus normal sodium diet (0.5 %, CAP-NS), CAP plus high sodium diet (4 %, CAP-hS), control plus NS (CON-NS), or CON-hS. Both tail-cuff systolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure (mAP) were measured in each of the groups. Western blot analysis was used for measurement of manganese superoxide dismutase (mnSOD) and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in the mesenteric resistance arteries. Lucigenin chemiluminescence assay was used for superoxide production in the mesenteric resistance arteries. The Griess method was used for measurement of nitrite/nitrate levels in plasma. RESULTS: Both tail-cuff pressure and mAP were higher in CAP-hS compared with CAP-NS, CON-hS, and CON- NS rats (Ph mnSOD and eNOS in the mesenteric resistance arteries were increased in CAP-hS compared with CAP-NS, CON-hS, and CON-NS (Phowever, nitrite/nitrate levels in plasma were not different among 4 groups. Acute iv administration of tempol, a membrane-permeable superoxide scavenger, de- creased mAP in both CAP-hS and CON-hS when compared with their respective controls. however, the de- creases of mAP between these two groups were not different. Chronic treatment with tempol failed to prevent the development of hypertension in CAP-hS rats. Superoxideproduction in the mesenteric resistance arteries was increased in CAP-hS compared with CAP-NS, CON-hS, and CON-NS (Phowever, chronic treatment with tempol did not prevent the increase of mesenteric superoxideproduction in CAP-hS rats. We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

multiple description coding with spatial-temporal hybrid interpolation for video streaming in peer-to-peer networks

In this paper, we present an innovative design of multiple description coding with spatial-temporal hybrid interpola- tion (mDC-SThI) for peer-to-peer (P2P) video streaming. mDC can be effective in P2P networks because the nature of overlay routing makes path diversity more feasible. however, most mDC schemes require a redesign of video coding systems and are not cost-effective for wide deployment. We base our work on multiple state video coding, a form of mDC that can utilize standard codecs. Two quarter-sized video bit streams are generated as redundancies and embedded in the original-sized streams. With mDC-SThI, the nodes in P2P network can adjust the streaming traffic to satisfy the constraints of their devices and network environment. By design, the redundancies are used to compensate for missing frames, and can also be streamed independently to fulfill certain needs of low rate, low resolution applications. For better error concealment, optimal weights for spatial and temporal interpolation are determined at the source, quantized, and included in redundancies.

Research on high-Speed Drilling Performances of Austenitic Stainless Steels

Due to specific properties arising from their structure (high ductility, high toughness,strong tenacious and low heat conductivity), the stainless steels have poor machinability. The drilling of the stainless steels becomes the machining difficulty for their serious work-hardening and abrasion of tools. In this paper, the austenitic stainless steel is used as the work-piece to perform the contrastive experiments with the TiN coated and TiAlN-coated high-speed steel drills. The cutting force, torque, cutting temperature, and the abrasion of drills and tool life are tested and analyzed in the process of high-speed drilling. Experiment results show the effect of drilling speed on cutting force, cutting temperature, and drill wear. TiAlN-coated drills demonstrate better performances in high speed drilling. The research results will be of great benefit in the selection of drills and in the control of tool wear in high speed drilling of stainless steels.

Pulsed dynamic electrolysis enhanced PEmWE hydrogen production:Revealing the effects of pulsed electric fields on protons mass transport and hydrogen bubble escape

The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway,with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis （PEmWE） emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen *** remarkable advancements in this field,confronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy consumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEmWE systems remains a formidable *** impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles *** address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis *** to constant voltage electrolysis (hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h-1,energy consumption:5.37 kWh Nm-3h2),this strategy (hydrogen production rate:66 m L h-1,energy consumption:3.83 kWh Nm-3h2) increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy consumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic （PV） system designed for outdoor operation,successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 *** combined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis （PDE） dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode *** such,PDE-enhanced PEmWE represents a synergistic advancement,concurrently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport *** promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

hDAC inhibitors overcome immunotherapy resistance in B-cell lymphoma

Immunotherapy has been applied successully to treat B-cell lymphomas in preclinical models or clinical ***,immunotherapy resistance is a major challenge for B-cell lymphoma *** overcome this issue,combinatorlal therapeutic strategies have been pursued to achieve a better efficacy for treating B-cell *** of such strategies is to combine immunotherapy with histone deacetylase(hDAC)*** inhibitors can potentially increase tumor immunogenicity,promote antitumor immune respon-ses,or reverse immunosuppressive tumor ***,the combination of hDAC inhibitors and immunotherapy has drawn much attention in current cancer ***,not all hDAC inhibitors are created equal and their net effects are highly dependent on the specific inhibitors used and the hDACs they ***,we suggest that optimal treatment effh-cacy requires personalized design and rational combination based on prognostic biomarkers and unique profiles of hDAC ***,we discuss the possible mechanisms by which B-cell lymphomas acquire immunotherapy resistance and the effects of hDAC inhibitors on tumor cells and immune cells that could help overcome immunotherapy resistance.

A new phase field method for two-dimensional simulations of binary alloy solidification was studied. A model basing on solute conservative in every unit was developed for solving the solute diffusion equation during solidification. Two-dimensional computations were performed for ideal solutions and Ni-Cu dendritic growth into an isothermal and highly supersaturated liquid phase.

Room-temperature ferroelectricity in A-site ordered Ruddlesden-Popper Li_(2)CaTa_(2)O_(7) ceramics

In the present work,the crystal structure,ferroelectric and dielectric properties of the dense single-phase Li_(2)CaTa_(2)O_(7) ceramics with A-site ordered double-layer Ruddlesden-Popper structures have been investigated by the experiments and first-principles calculations.A polar Pna21 phase was determined by the Rietveld refinement against the X-ray diffraction pattern at room temperature,and it was confirmed by its lowest calculated energy and rigid phonon *** ferroelectricity was found by observing the ferroelectric hysteresis loop at room temperature,and its remanent polarization was similar to the value calculated from the Berry phase and Born effective charge *** ferroelectricity is a nonconventional proper one since its polarization is induced from the displacement of oxygen anions instead of tantalum cations based on the individual atomic polarization.A first-order transition from an antiferroelectric to paraelectric phase around 900 K was found by the DSC and variable-temperature dielectric *** the present work,the room-temperature ferroelectricity is experimental confirmed in the present ceramics,inspiring the search for new ferroelectricity in the ceramics with A-site ordered Ruddlesden-Popper structures.

Cooperative Target Fencing of multiple Vehicles for a General Target with Connectivity Preservation and Collision Avoidance

In this paper,the authors study the cooperative target-fencing problem for n-dimensional systems and a target with a general *** using the velocity of the vehicles,a position feedback control law is proposed to fence the general target into the convex hull formed by the ***,the dynamics of each vehicle is described by a double-integrator *** potential functions are designed to guarantee connectivity preservation of the communication network and collision avoidance among the *** proposed approach can deal with a target whose trajectory is any twice continuously differentiable function of *** effectiveness of the result is verified by a numerical example.
