Histochemical pattern of gastrocnemius muscle in fluoride toxicity syndrome

Objective:To evaluate the effect of sodium fluoride(NaF) on cytochemical distribution of proteins,DNA,and RNA in the gastrocnemius muscle of rat in experimental ***: Young Sprague Dawley albino rats were administered with NaF at 30,45,and 75 mg/kg bw/ day subcutaneously for 15 and 30 days,*** control animals were given the vehicle(1cc deionized double distilled water/kg bw/day).Results:In the first phase of 15 days experimentation,the gastrocnemius muscle of rats intoxicated with NaF at 30,45,and 75 mg /kg bw/ day showed decline in proteins including a amino acids as compared to control. In the second phase of 30 days experimentation,the muscle fibers of rat showed elevation in sarcolemmal and sarcoplasmic proteins in 30 mg NaF dose group,and angulated fibers exhibited increase in sarcolemmal proteins in 45 mg NaF *** marginal regions of angular and rim fibers showed deeply stained rings of sarcoplasmic proteins whereas the split fibers were faindy stained in rats treated with NaF at 75 mg/kg bw/day for 30 *** rats treated with NaF at 30 mg/kg bw/day for 15 days,the hypertrophied peripheral muscle fibers contained more DNA,however the atrophied fibers had more *** 45 mg NaF group,RNA was located in sarcolemmal regions,while DNA content decreased as compared to *** 75 mg NaF group,the muscle fibers had dark and light staining regions of DNA and *** the 30 days of experimentation,the DNA level decreased whereas RNA content increased in the gastrocnemius muscle fibers of the rat treated with NaF at 30 mg/kg bw/*** treatment group with NaF at 45 mg/kg bw/day,the RNA content slighdy declined in comparison to control,in all treatments for 15 days as well as in treatment group with NaF at 30 mg/kg bw/day for 30 days whereas the amount of DNA slightly increased as compared to treatment group with NaF at 75 mg/kg bw/day for 15 *** highest dose group revealed elevated amount of RNA whereas DNA content remained stable.C

Coal mines are continuously seeking to determine the performance of entries with different ground control products and installation *** are many factors that impact how an entry will perform which include but are not limited to geology,overburden,bolting type and pattern,and mine *** the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH),research has been instituted to examine the relationship of the parts of a coal mine entry as a system and not as individual *** study this relationship,the first step in this study was to create a numeric rating system that accurately reflects visual observations of the mine entry and is easy to *** researchers devised this rating system to improve upon previous ideas,offering increased flexibility which can be incorporated into an overall entry condition that offers different levels of confidence based on the user’s time devoted to the *** new entry rating system was implemented at three different mines over varying periods of time to evaluate the ground response to the geology,bolt installation pattern,stress changes by mining,overburden,and time dependency.

Rotational flow of Oldroyd-B nanofluid subject to Cattaneo-Christov double diffusion theory

A nanofluid is composed of a base fluid component and nanoparticles, in which the nanoparticles are dispersed in the base fluid. The addition of nanoparticles into a base fluid can remarkably improve the thermal conductivity of the nanofluid, and such an increment of thermal conductivity can play an important role in improving the heat transfer rate of the base fluid. Further, the dynamics of non-Newtonian fluids along with nanoparticles is quite interesting with numerous industrial applications. The present predominately predictive modeling studies the flow of the viscoelastic Oldroyd-B fluid over a rotating disk in the presence of nanoparticles. A progressive amendment in the heat and concentration equations is made by exploiting the Cattaneo-Christov heat and mass flux expressions. The characteristic of the Lorentz force due to the magnetic field applied normal to the disk is studied. The Buongiorno model together with the Cattaneo-Christov theory is implemented in the Oldroyd-B nanofluid flow to investigate the heat and mass transport mechanism. This theory predicts the characteristics of the fluid thermal and solutal relaxation time on the boundary layer flow. The von K′arm′an similarity functions are utilized to convert the partial differential equations(PDEs) into ordinary differential equations(ODEs). A homotopic approach for obtaining the analytical solutions to the governing nonlinear problem is carried out. The graphical results are obtained for the velocity field, temperature, and concentration distributions. Comparisons are made for a limiting case between the numerical and analytical solutions, and the results are found in good agreement. The results reveal that the thermal and solutal relaxation time parameters diminish the temperature and concentration distributions, respectively. This article presents a type of plate Finite Element(FE)models with adaptive mathematical refinement capabilities for modeling laminated smart structures with piezoelectric layers or distributed *** p-version shape functions are used in combination with the higher-order Layer-Wise(LW)kinematics adopting hierarchical Legendre ***-Dependent Kinematics(NDK)is employed to implement local LW models in the regions with piezoelectric components and simulate the global substrate structure with the Equivalent Single-Layer(ESL)*** the proposed NDK FE models,the electro-mechanical behavior of smart structures can be predicted with high fidelity and numerical efficiency,and various patch configurations can be conveniently modeled through one set of mesh ***,the effectiveness and efficiency of the NDK FE approach are assessed through numerical examples and its application is demonstrated.

In this paper,we address the long-term generation and transmission expansion planning for power systems of regions with very high solar *** target the power systems that currently rely mainly on thermal generators and that aim to adopt high shares of renewable *** propose a stochastic programming model with expansion alternatives including transmission lines,solar power plants(photovoltaic and concentrated solar),wind farms,energy storage,and flexible combined cycle gas *** model represents the longterm uncertainty to characterize the demand growth,and the short-term uncertainty to characterize daily solar,wind,and demand *** use the Saudi Arabian power system to illustrate the functioning of the proposed model for several cases with different renewable integration *** results show that a strong dependence on solar power for high shares of renewable sources requires high generation capacity and storage to meet the night demand.

Numerical study on dynamic properties of rubberised concrete with different rubber contents

As a green environmentally-friendly material,rubberised concrete(Ru C),which has the characteristics of low elastic modulus,large deformation capacity,high damping,good energy dissipation and good crack resistance,has attracted extensive attention and research in the civil engineering ***,most of existing studies are based on experimental tests on Ru C material properties,and there has been no numerical study based on meso-scale modelling of Ru C *** more comprehensively investigate the Ru C dynamic material properties without conducting intensive experimental tests,this study developed a high-fidelity meso-scale model considering coarse and fine aggregates and rubber crumbs to numerically investigate the mechanical properties of rubberised concrete under different strain *** meso-scale model was verified against both quasi-static compressive testing data and Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB)dynamic testing *** the verified numerical model,the dynamic properties of rubberised concrete with various rubber content(0%-30%)under different strain rates were *** numerical results show that the developed meso-scale model can use to predict the static and dynamic properties of rubberised concrete with high *** dynamic compressive strength of the rubberised concrete increases with the increment of the strain rate,and the strain rate sensitivity increases with the rubber content ranging from 0 to 30%.Based on intensive numerical simulation data,empirical DIFs is used as a function of strain rate and rubber content to predict the dynamic strength of rubberised concrete.

Entropy generation applications in flow of viscoelastic nanofluid past a lubricated disk in presence of nonlinear thermal radiation and Joule heating

Entropy generation is the loss of energy in thermodynamical systems due to resistive forces,diffusion processes,radiation effects and chemical *** main aim of this research is to address entropy generation due to magnetic field,nonlinear thermal radiation,viscous dissipation,thermal diffusion and nonlinear chemical reaction in the transport of viscoelastic fluid in the vicinity of a stagnation point over a lubricated *** conservation laws of mass and momentum along with the first law of thermodynamics and Fick’s law are used to discuss the flow,heat and mass transfer,while the second law of thermodynamics is used to analyze the entropy and *** numbers of independent variables in the modeled set of nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced using similarity variables and the resulting system is numerically approximated using the Keller box *** effects of thermophoresis,Brownian motion and the magnetic parameter on temperature are presented for lubricated and rough *** local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are documented for both linear and nonlinear thermal radiation and lubricated and rough *** representations of the entropy generation number and Bejan number for various parameters are also shown for lubricated and rough *** concentration of nanoparticles at the lubricated surface reduces with the magnetic parameter and Brownian *** entropy generation declines for thermophoresis diffusion and Brownian motion when lubrication effects are *** is concluded that both entropy generation and the magnitude of the Bejan number increase in the presence of *** current results present many applications in the lubrication phenomenon,heating processes,cooling of devices,thermal engineering,energy production,extrusion processes etc.

In this study,a nonlinear three-dimensional hydrocode numerical simulation was carried out using AUTODYN-3D to investigate the effect of blasting of a high explosive material(TNT)against several configurations of the composite *** numerical models were carried out to study the effect of varying the thickness of the walls and the effect of adding an air layer or aluminum foam layer inside two layers of concrete in mitigating the effect of blast waves on the structure *** results showed that increasing the thickness of walls has a good effect on mitigating the effect of blast *** a layer of air was added,the effect of blast waves was exaggerated,while when a layer of aluminum foam was added the blast wave effects were mitigated with a reasonable percentage.
